We had 2 trees in our yard that needed to be cut down. I called Jay, he came out the same day for a quote. We were really happy with the pricing and planned on having the trees removed early next year. Recently, a big branch fell and the tree started leaning towards our house. I immediately text Jay and within a few days both trees were gone. He is professional, always calls/texts back fast, reliable and takes pride in his work. Great service, came out to do an estimate within a couple of hours and was able to schedule his team to come out the next day and take down my trees. I had 5 to remove that had terrible leans in them right over my shed and house. They took them down without any issues (for me) in a few hours, even though they were difficult to get to. At first when I got home I thought it went great. Next day I was out there and noticed the damage he left behind. Cracks in concrete patio where tree was located. Obvious to me a large cut landed there. I called to let him know. He seemed like good guy that I could trust so I made mistake saying "take your time". "Don't make special trip, just call next time you're in my area" Medford, MA. Here it begins, the" I will be around this time on that day" talk. Back and forth with that for 2+ weeks. Then finally I left voice mail asking what was going on? Text he sent said he was very sorry but lost my contact info. Then said I'll be there tomorrow. I sent text saying you should have not pushed it this far. I work with a lot of people at the state who always come to me for referrals and I could have gotten you more work. He was the lowest bidder, he did great job removing tree, but left hundreds if not more, of dollars' worth of damage and told me he does not believe me. Also made a wise crack about state workers. Not sure why Jay gets such rave reviews. I really can't comment on the quality of his work as he never showed up to do the job!! He blew us off 2 days in a row, and when we called and texted him he did not reply. Very unprofessional and obviously unreliable. Hire at your own risk! I have been VERY pleased & really impressed with "A Cut Above the Best - Tree Service" since the first encounter I had with Jay on the phone. He PROMPTLY returned my original phone call, & came by shortly thereafter to survey the job, & give me an estimate on the proposed work. He & his team are extremely pleasant, VERY "down to earth," & polite. We desperately needed 2 large pines & a spruce taken down from inside a rock wall garden in the back yard. We also had MANY bags of compost & brush, along with alot of wood debris in our driveway. I had been unable to dispose of myself, since I have had some health issues the last couple of years, and have found heavy lifting too overwhelming. Lastly, in the front yard, we needed two stubborn pine bush stumps & their tough, migrating roots removed to smooth down the lawn. I was SOOOOO pleased when Jay said the ENTIRE project would be no problem, & I was given a VERY fair price estimate for the proposed work. Also, he really set my mind at ease by assuring me that they are also fully INSURED. There was absolutely NO pressure, & when he left after the estimate, I knew that he was "our guy!" He & another (also very pleasant) coworker arrived at our scheduled time this morning, & went right to work, checking with us each step of the way on exactly how we wanted things done. I was AMAZED how professional, safety conscious, & organized they were. In a matter of just a few hours, EVERYTHING was taken care of, cleaned up, & hauled away--all damage free !!! I left a message for the owner and received a call back within an hour. When does that happen??? He was able to swing by my house that morning and give me an estimate over the phone and set up a time to do the work. He truly listened to my concerns over preserving privacy but opening up the backyard, as well as taking my neighbor's wishes into consideration. He was able to get the job done 2 days later. He texted "before and after" pictures so I could see the work and make any suggestions on other areas to be trimmed. Because I couldn't be home to see the final product, he offered to come back and do any additional trimming I wanted saying word of mouth was too important to him and he wanted make sure I was happy. The owner gave us an estimate to take down a number of tall pines and a few smaller ones. One tall pine was very close to the house. The owner and his assistant did a FANTASTIC job! They had a great attitude, did a careful job, making sure the pieces of the large limbs didn't damage any of our surrounding shrubs. They brought in a stump grinder to finish off the job. (I've always had to pay extra for any stump grinding.) They removed all the debris and left the area neat and tidy. Best of all, the price was extremely reasonable. The owner showed me his insurance policy before he started working, and I recommend A CUT ABOVE THE BEST in every way. I am recommending them to all of my friends who need tree work. read more

He was the best price (we got three quotes) but we also liked his honesty and opinions he offered. His crew was professional and hard working. We had 40' hemlocks trimmed on the insides/sides as well as clipping 15' off the top. He said it would take half a day and it did. They showed up on time, worked super hard from the minute they arrived and cleaned everything up. I plan to have them back to do more work. While they were here, my neighbor hired them to cut down a couple of trees so they worked an unplanned full day. Do NOT hesitate to call these guys! read more

Very happy.. i called about a few good size oak branches to be taken down from a very old oak tree. Their estimate was right on the money..i previously had the job priced by another tree service that wanted a bit more, this showed that they were honest in their assessment , i liked that. to my surprise, they were quick and efficient as well. I do need more branches taken down, and will be calling them back.
