I left this review on Google as well so I don't want anyone thinking I'm a bot. My wife and I have been using Peter Breen for years. My contact at the company is his son Tim. They respond to inquiries within 10 minutes if not less. I've even had them get back to me on Federal holidays when I wasn't expecting a response until later that week. We use them for mulch every season, for multiple lawn cleanings at the home we used to live at on Prospect St Andover, leaf removal every season, and large landscaping projects at our prior and current residences. They always do a great job and work start to finish without delays. I honestly don't even get prices from anyone else at this point. Tim will ask me what I want and what my budget is and then tells me what he can accomplish in that price range. It always looks better than what I imagined. Can't recommend them enough! The pics attached are from our most recent project at a rental property we needed cleaned up. The place was surrounded by beautiful bushes but completely overgrown and we needed to make it simple. It looks completely refreshed now. They completed this work 8/31/2026 read more

Ordered screened loam from Peter Breen to fix lawn erosion in June. Paid $50 per yard for their compost blend, it was delivered on schedule. Couldn't see at first because the loam was dark, but after it was spread all over the lawn and started to dry out you could see lots of chards of glass and pieces of broken beer bottles. Also had lots of sticks and rocks. We have a swimming pool, we're frequently barefoot in the yard and it's a miracle that no one including the dogs, have cut their foot open. Constantly raking up stones and glass. Unacceptable! Don't waste your money read more

Requested land area leveling to put up a greenhouse. Crew conferred with me before doing the work which yielded a better outcome than what I had in my mind. The guys were fabulous, kind, and respectful. The area for the greenhouse is beautiful. This company did a great job for us. I would recommend them for their quality, professionalism, and quickness to respond to our request. Thank you Tim and Peter for having a great business to rely on. read more

Tim, Travis and their team truly exceeded our expectations! Everyone was such a pleasure to work with, and they did an amazing job! They dug up and hauled away around 30 large rocks/boulders from our front yard and cleared up all of the brush that was there before planting grass. We are so happy with how it all turned out and can't thank them enough for transforming our front yard! We highly recommend them! read more

We have been buying Mulch from Peter Breen for about 20 yrs These guys have very competitive prices, discounts for large loads, same day delivery, we just had 12 yards dropped off this morning and it looks and smells wonderful. Thanks again for helping us get our yard looking great! read more

We are very very pleased with how responsive Peter was, how hard and how quickly his team worked, his pricing was very reasonable but most of all we now have a beautiful usable yard! read more

Tim and his team helped us totally transform our backyard. They helped install proper drainage, bury gutter downspouts, regrade soil, bring in new compost and loan and lay down grass seed. They also installed a huge paver patio with a fire pit. Our experience with them was outstanding and they were very professional and easy to communicate. I would recommend them to anyone and will be using them again in the future. read more

If you're looking for landscaping needs, firewood, or mulch, Peter Breen is where it's at. I've used them 4x now to deliver firewood, 100% happy. Called for mulch and had 6yds in my driveway about an hour later. That wasn't enough, and had another 6yds there same day within an hour or so. Finally, last week they assisted me with putting down 4,000sqft of new sod. They had to strip about half that much from what was left of the existing yard that wasn't damaged during a patio install, regraded using another few yards of loam, and then the sod. Included are some before and after. read more

Bought loam from them earlier this year. They had the HIGHEST PRICE AROUND and the loam was the POOREST QUALITY AROUND! The loam had mostly bark mulch in it and would not grow a weed, never mind a lawn!!! read more

Excellent choice for mulch. Best deal in the Merrimack Valley, very responsive and timely.

Did a great job with the landscaping around my pool installation. He was 10% less expensive than other quotes, was able to work around pool and fencing contractors, and addressed changes as they came up. Crew is hard working and Tim responded to all calls in a very timely manner. I will post pics when next phase of project is complete. read more

They are fantastic and they are so efficient and polite. My yard looks so great. I would hire them again.

We recently used Peter Breen's landscaping services to completely renovate our backyard. They cleaned, leveled, loamed, and seeded our 1 acre backyard, which looked like a junkyard, all within a few short weeks this summer. The team was professional and courteous, and we were able to easily contact Tim Breen anytime we had a question. Not only did they do a fabulous job, they helped us when our "first time homeowner" indecision cropped up regarding certain design ideas and lawn care. They were very willing to work with our budget, which was much appreciated. I'm writing this review while staring out onto my gorgeous yard, all thanks to Tim, Peter, and the crew! read more

He was short and rude! He couldn't be bothered with my petty requests. I called him disrespectful and wish him a good day. I didn't want my day to be ruined by his lack of respect for his customers. I have many friends in the landscaping business and will be definitely sharing my poor experience. read more

We have used Peter Breen for years to get mulch and loam delivered. He is always reliable and never disappoints. And I even got same day service when I was in a pinch! I highly recommend Peter Breen Bark Mulch. read more

If job not big enough, wont help out. So much for everyone matters. So much for the little guy... all was asking is for tailgate delivery, drop and go on few yards of mulch less than 8 miles away. read more

I didn't even get a service from this guy and I'm still rating it a one star. I called for some landscaping needs and I think the number provided just goes to a personal cell phone as the guy just answered "hello" as opposed to whatever landscaping etc. Whomever I spoke to (assuming Peter) was simply short and rude like I was bothering him and wasting his time which I should've taken for a sign but let it slide because I needed this done ASAP. He said he would come that day - I waited all day and he was a no call no show. I get a phone call a week later saying "i'm returning your phone call, what do you want?" He didn't even mention about the previous issue - no apology or explanation. I wasn't able to get a landscaper with available time so again I took the chance and agreed on him coming that day. Again no call no show and another wasted day of me waiting. Poor business social skills plus two wasted days with no call no show = 1 star. Onto find someone else. read more

My experience with Peter Breen goes back a number of years but it is the reason I would never do business with the company again - no matter the price. I had mulch delivered to my house. A teenager delivered the mulch in a huge dump truck without paying attention to lifting the bed and cracking some significantly large limbs on the oak tree over the driveway. Accidents happen, right? My concern was that these large limbs would crack under the weight of snow in the winter and end up on my car. A call to Peter was met with no concern, but with comment that he would get back to me the next day. Follow up calls resulted in no action. A simple fix, particularly for a landscape company would have been to trim the limbs so that there would not be an issue later on. No apology, no follow-up, no customer service. read more

Peter Breen and his team have been our trusted snow plowers for nearly all the 30-plus years we have lived here. I could not imagine anyone being as reliable, as timely, as accommodating -- despite having one of the busiest businesses in town -- as Peter Breen. In the midst of the worst storms, Peter somehow managed to clear the way for us to get out of our long driveway to leave for work or other important activity with a consistently remarkable promptness. Thank you, Peter! You are the best! read more

I've used this business to buy mulch or loam each Spring for several years. Each time, he answered the phone, or returned the message within an hour. Each time, same day or next day delivery. Good quality mulch, with rapid delivery at a competitive price. That's why he gets 5 stars. read more

I have used Peter Breen for Mulch for years. I have always been impressed with his prompt delivery. I had seen he did excavations also so when I went to do my detached garage I got a quote from him. It was literally half the price of another quote I got. I could not be happier with the job they did. I had a challenging lot - lots of grading to be corrected and a very small space to work in. He stuck to his quote, had great input on ways to make my plan better, and fast efficient work. Plus all of his employees are very nice. Through this process I have gotten to know Peter. He comes across as a little gruff on the phone but I have come to realize he is a softy with a great work ethic. More to the point all of his employees talk about how honest he is and how good he is to work for. Honestly that is probably a more important endorsement than mine. Additionally he has a surprising number of machines and trucks at his disposal. Bottom line I could not have had a better experience and I will use him in the future read more

I am a bit of a perfectionist and I was extremely pleased with the recent work Peter Breen's sons did on our back yard. They graded and prepared the land for a patio installation. Then, they came back when the project was complete and patched the lawn where the trucks had been. It looks fantastic. Their price was good and they were able to do the job much sooner than other companies. I was most impressed by how personable their entire crew was. They were a pleasure to work with. read more

I purchased 20+ yards of red hemlock mulch from him 2 years ago. I hired someone to spread it for me so it wasn't until after it was installed that I was able to see it. And what a surprise! The much was pine that had been sprayed red. He charged me the premium price and delivered the cheapest product. No refund, no apologies. All he offered was to send someone out once a month to turn the mulch over. I will never do business with him again. This guy is not interested in repeat business from a satisfied customer. He's only interested in the quick buck. read more

These guys rule! They delivered 3 yards in literally under 5 minutes on a Saturday in May. Other places told me it would take a week. I hung up the phone and they were out front 4 minutes later. The mulch was nice stuff, not like the ghetto Home Depot bags. FYI they don't take credit cards. read more

Peter Breen Mulch has great quality mulch and quick delivery. Notably, this company donates mulch to local schools in Andover, which made for a great School Beautification Day for the parents and kids. Highly recommend! read more

We have used Peter Breen for a number of years. We called Peter this morning for a load of 4 yards of mulch. Was delivered within a couple of hours. My wife called me at work and said she was worried that it was not 4 yards. When I got home I too questioned the amount. It honestly did not look like 4 yards. I called Peter right away and he said they had sent 4 yards, BUT, he would send another 2 yards over to us right away. Within 15 minutes of my call his son and the truck were dumping an additional 2 yards...we offered to pay Peter for the 2 additional yards, but they refused to take our money. We will definitely keep track of the yardage and plan to repay Peter for any overage he sent. But the reason for this YELP Review is to say - he's a good guy, a great local business and we certainly appreciate his concern and responsiveness and his trying to "make things right." read more

Great experience. Used their service a 2nd time for a new lawn and clean up. The guys are professional and extremely hard working. To top it all, the long days did not trump their attitude. They treated my home and my family well. Now, we have a beautiful lawn again...with thanks to Peter Breen Landscaping. Totally recommend them!! read more

Peter Breen and his son Tim run a great business!! We have used them while living in North Andover the past 4.5 years for dumpsters, snow removal, firewood deliveries etc. etc. They are prompt, always there if you need something, even last minute. Their prices are reasonable and their service is always on the ball. I would highly recommend them to anyone!!! read more

Peter Breen recently completed a major lawn overhaul for us....removed grass and topsoil, graded entire lot, put down loam, grass seed, etc.. It's been a little over a month now and the lawn is coming in beautifully. The work was guaranteed and true to his word, he backed up that guarantee. When we called with questions re some bare spots and concerns re heavy rain having washed away seed, he came out to take a look and they immediately remedied the situation. They put down some additional loam, reseeded and raked it out. It is really amazing to see the difference between our new, beautiful thick green lawn, and our neighbors crab grass ridden lawn. The grading has drastically improved the water seepage in our basement as has the block retaining wall (not sure how else to refer to it) they built around our basement walk-out. The later was a HUGE improvement. I could go on and on with other fixes and improvements made but suffice it to say that they are extremely hard working - responsive - easy to work with, etc. One of his guys, Franny (not sure I'm spelling that correctly), not only built that wall around the walkout, and did a beautiful job on it, but he also installed a new walkway from our driveway up to an existing walkway. We are beyond thrilled with it......another massive improvement beautifully done. The price was fair and they were totally accommodating when it came to additional smaller add-ons that we requested such as stump removal (oh yeah, Peter recommended a fantastic tree service - Levesque wood company - who we were equally thrilled with), and removal and disposal of an old shed. We won't hesitate to use Peter Breen again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a solid, reliable, high quality, full service landscaper. read more
