Ferris has done three big tree jobs for us and one emergency call. They are EXCELLENT. They know what they are doing and it really shows. They know exactly how to bring trees down efficiently and with no damage. They are easily able to spot where trees should be trimmed / taken down and give you a thorough explanation. No upsell here-- Dan will tell you like it is and will tell you straight out if something needs to be done, if it can wait, or if you don't need to do it. They are super responsive and have a big specialized crew. Their clean up is incredible-- no branches, no twigs, no wood chips are left -- they rake and use the blowers and pick every little thing up. I don't know how you can take 3 huge trees down and leave no mess at all but they do. Finally, the thing that won me over initially was when they responded to us after heavy storms hit the town. You can keep reading these reviews. However, you would be best advised to simply call Dan Ferris and schedule your tree event. They are that ridiculously good. I have recommended them to three friends who experienced similar results. After having the work quoted by four other tree removal companies, I chose Ferris. They were neither the lowest nor highest bidder. However, they were the most complete overall. Dan Ferris came across as professional, courteous and the most thorough of the bidder group. He left nothing unexplained or unlisted in the written quotation. My experience: removal of 41 trees, majority full-sized 60-90 foot hardwood specimens. All of these trees were capable of striking my house if they fell during ice/snow/wind storms. The operation took two full days; everything was completely removed from site; stump grinding detritus taken away; property left spotless. As others have noted, the Ferris professional operation is an orchestrated sight to behold. At the prodding of my wife, I stayed home for the 2nd day of work; was pleased that I did. The crew comprised 8-10 workers fully protected in safety gear; senior Ferris on a huge crane, several bucket trucks, numerous log and wood chip hauling vehicles. Every piece of equipment was high end and well maintained. All that was missing was some background music playing as this was a fully coordinated labor performance. OK. Enough. Make the call. Hired Ferris Tree on the recommendation from a relative. Had three dead / dying trees removed from my back yard (which is down a hill and difficult to get at). Between the trees and my driveway were three lilac bushes, a new patio, and a recently seeded yard. The crew at Ferris used a bucket truck and cabling to remove the trees piece by piece and stump them once removed. The lilacs, new patio, and recently seeded yard were all in excellent shape once the job was done. Ferris did such a good job cleaning up, it was hard to tell they had even been there. Lastly, the price with stumping beat another quote we got that didn't even include the stumping. read more

I was prepared to write up a detailed account of all the work Ferris Tree Service crew did on my property, and the story of how I met with and got quotes from four of five tree services before giving the job to Dan Ferris, then I read all the reviews. My experience was similar to all the positive reviews and the only negative review sounds like a different company given how satisfied my wife and I are with everything Dan and his crew did for us. Bottom line? I suspect you want to know my expectations for a contractor and did Ferris Tree Service meet those expectations? The answer? I set out to find someone who is prompt and cordial, seems knowledgeable, has extensive experience and the necessary tools, offers a fair price, schedules the work within a reasonable time frame, arrives on time, finishes the job discussed in a timely manner, cleans up, leaving the job site as found. My wife and I were home when the work was done. We talked with Dan and the crew throughout the day. They arrived at 7:30 A.M. and left at 2:00 P.M. They were not the least expensive, but they came in with the second best price, and Ferris Tree Service delivered beyond expectations. We are very pleased with our decision to hire them. Obviously every job is unique and there is no guarantee that a contractor who met our expectations will meet yours, but we do highly recommend you give Dan and Ferris Tree Service serious consideration for any tree work you need done. read more

Damaged my driveway, tore up my yard and left lots of large branches all over my property. I sent the owner a letter with the problems they left behind . Everything about Ferris Tree is TOP NOTCH!!! We had many trees pruned and others cut down to make more sunlight for the lawn. We had stumps ground and even limbs hanging over our neighbor's sports court done with no problem. Their clean-up is meticulous! All the crew were great. We have a large wooded lot in Andover. We had a number of trees that fell during the snow storms in March. We had branches and tree limbs down all over our yard. We had limbs hanging down into our driveway. We called Ferris Tree Service. They promptly sent an estimator out to look at the job. He carefully walked the yard with us. He made notes of all the work that had to be done. The next day we had a detailed quote in our email. Two days later they came and did the job. They had all the needed equipment and plenty of men. The job got done on time and on budget. They left they yard spotless, picking up all the wooden debris. We were very pleased and would highly recommend them. read more

I live in Andover, MA. There was a very large old tree on the corner of my property near a road that is traveled by walkers regularly. The tree was dying, losing branches, and overall a liability that had to be taken down. When a large branch finally fell on my car, I called around for estimates for the tree's removal. I was told by others in my neighborhood that Ferris was 'very very good', but also very expensive. It has been my experience that contractors from Andover tend to be more expensive than those from surrounding towns. I called six tree service companies, including Ferris. Two did not even return my call. Four did, and Ferris was out to give me an estimate the next day. The estimate was actually the best I had received out of a total of four (three were out of town contractors). In a couple of days, Ferris was at my house precisely at the time arranged, and work was miraculously completed in two hours. I mirror what has been written on this YELP page by others, with regards to the amazing professionalism, extensive equipment, and expertise of this company. Thrilled with this experience. ferris tree came out to give a estimate to a huge tree that had come down during the last storm (catorigized as a tornado) that came through methuen. it is in a very difficult spot and my husband and i knew it would be a dangerous/huge job. in my experience with dealing with contractors they are trying to get the job from us...not push us away. . my husband and i were spoken to in a very condensing way and were being told we were irresponsible homeowners for not taking this (dead) tree down years ago and now we wanted to hire them to make it their problem and put their crew in danger and the access into my yard would be very difficult and why should he put his expensive crane in a situation that could damage it. i was never so shocked in my life and should have escorted him off my property immediately. they gave us a absurd quote that no sane person would take. all he needed to say was we dont/ want this job and thank you for considering us.... read more
