I took my car to this shop today for a repair of resonator and flex pipe. I was originally quoted $420 and given a basic receipt that was not itemized as I requested so it did not include the specific price of each part nor laboring pricing . When I asked was the labor rate was while checking out, the guy said $110. I paid and left, my mistake for not making sure it was not itemized. I went to another shop for something else unrelated and just so happened to get a second opinion and these mechanics stated I shouldn't have paid more than $250 total including labor . They asked me what pricing did they charge for each part and verify labor cost so I called back since it was not on the receipt . He says the flex pipe is $90 and the resonator is $160 The same guy who took my payment now says labor is $170 even though he said $110 in person. His response " I thought you meant regular mechanical labor, not the labor for your car." Exhaust labor is different pricing". Why would I be asking for labor cost NOT RELATED to my car???? so now I feel lied to and ripped which I politely explained . I asked is there a pricing sheet I can see where it states the labor/pricing and he says no. He states how his quality of work blah blah and how the dealer would charge so much more but I honestly don't care but it's irrelevant!! We are talking about the misinformation on pricing . He does apologize for the miscommunication but STILL tried to blame me for pointing out these issues. After all the back and forth I suggested him giving me back the difference in labor and he finally agrees . I feel like he knew he was on bs and I caught on so that's why he was so open to giving me the difference back. I still don't believe the pricing for the resonator or flex pipe was fair per gms website but hey what I can do. It's a lesson. **BEWARE OF PRICING AND GET EVERYTHING UPFRONT AND IN WRITING. My last experience was awful and the old man that gives you the prices was really rude and besides that the was overcharging me the good thing I had quote's from other shop and they where all giving me the same price. These people were quoting me $150 more than a usual price. I brought in my vehicle to have the catalytic converters replaced (so that I could pass state inspection), as well as a resonator put on. I was quoted $2450 (if I paid in cash, which should have been my first red flag), but agreed to that price if the inspection was good upon completion. Once the work was done, however, I was charged $2560. With the kid behind the counter still holding my keys, and his argument being that I "misunderstood what he said", I felt I had no option in the moment but to pay. He told me to put 100 miles on the vehicle to "clear the computer", come back, and they would complete the inspection. I put 200+ miles on it, to make sure it was good, went back to get the inspection, and it passed. BUT... this kid wanted to charge me another $25 for the inspection that was supposed to be part of the already OVERCHARGED $2560! I refused and he said he would "let it slide".... As though I'm the one who is cheating on taxes (cash payments), and overcharging for absolutely abhorrent workmanship (see below). Speaking of.... that $2560??.... got me the welds that are pictured below. The welds were so bad, and the resonator so misplaced, that I had to buy a cat-back set from a reputable dealer and replace the whole system myself. Which honestly sounds better than the crap they put on, but that's my opinion. What is not opinion, is how horrible these "$2560 welds" are. There is nothing about these that are remotely close to professional, and the fact that they charge anything (MUCH LESS OVERCHARGE FOR THIS KIND OF WORK), is why I will go to my deathbed warning everyone I know NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS! read more

I don't know how they are for mufflers but I would certainly avoid them for inspections unless you want to be given an offer to buy your car and after refusing be told of a bogus repair which is not even part of the inspection process (at least not according to the state inspector I spoke with), being told they can fix it (which I doubt given that they're a muffler shop and not a full service mechanic) and given the option of being extorted for them to overlook it. Very shady and creepy place. read more

I have been taking my 1994 Pontiac Trans Am to Mayco Muffler or over 3 years. They have done numerous repairs including rebuilding my transmission and repairing my cooling system. My car now runs super cool and shifts perfectly. Everytime I leave my car with them they fix things I have not mentioned, like fixing the adjustment on my seat or the last time they tightened up the kick panel under my steering wheel which was loose since purchasing the car. The repairs are always explained to me first and the cost is reasonable. The mechanics are so nice! DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP, without your research or your proof. You are a smart consumer! Don't let them tell you other wise, do not second guess yourself and follow your hunch!!!! Ladies and some Men out there!!!! I went to the shop on 12/30/2011 to have them fix that my check engine light stayed on. Before any work was started I advised them that I had my car scanned at the local Auto zone and got one code. the code was P0141, along with those codes, were some definitions. 1. heated oxygen sensor-bank 1 sensor 2, 2. faulty HO2s12 (sensor) 3. poor connection at oxygen sensor 4. check circuit- fuse . Well I told the mechanic that it is NOT my oxygen sensors cause I had changed them (both) on November 15th, 2011, and that it was the check engine light coming back on and that it was a short circuit in the wiring not reading the sensor so the circuit had to be fixed. The mechanic takes the car back and then comes back and says the only problem you have is a defective sensor. I said how is that possible? I just changed them. So I told him how can we tell? he said that is what his device showed, He quoted me a total of $170.00 plus tax which came out to 176.00 for the fix with 6 months warranty. I was not agreeing,but what could I do I had to trust his EXPERTISE AND DIAGNOSTICS. I went the next day to have the new sensor put on, the matter did not take them not more than 20 minutes to put back on. He handed me the car and the check engine light was still on. I said what did IJUST PAY FOR? Mechanic okay okay let me reset it for you again. So I gave him back the car and come to find out, the light would not reset, he proceeded to tell me to bring the car Tuesday January 3rd, 2012, so he can check it again. I agreed. It took from 1pm to 5pm, 4 hours, then Mechanic comes back and says the problem is that the wires from the sensor to your computer that reads the sensor is 10 - 30% burned and that can be fixed and resetted but for 298.00 dollars more. That is when I jumped out of my chair and said to them, what did I pay for on Friday? You guaranteed the worked, I told you it was NOT MY OXYGEN SENSORS AND THAT IS WHAT YOU REPLACED SATURDAY AND NOW YOUR TELLING ME IT IS NOT that! AND NOW IT IS 298.00 more! totaling 474.60................OMG I was just taken on Saturday and now just plain out robbery today for 298.00??? Well no way Jose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for the Jose's out there. So I just paid for a incorrect diagnostic, parts I did not need (that I told you I changed), and 20 minutes expensive labor and now you want $$$298.00 more of my hard earned dollars!!!! Well Happy new year to you too!!! NO way in $#%^&. Give me back my car and so be it. I let them play me. OMG. I just wanted to kick myself cause I knew it was not the sensors and obvious they misdiagnosed my car, and on top of that... instead of making good.... Mama (well maybe not mama, I meant Mam)we are so sorry to misdiagnose your car let me give you credit for my error and just pay the difference of possibly $$121.40, my mistake I want to keep you happy and my customer. I had to have my car towed when it broke down and I originally found the auto shop next door to Mayco, Mobile Mechanic. I was trying to get a diagnosis and an estimate. I had already presumed it was my alternator and/or battery, since I was having problems the week previously. After 15 minutes Mobile Mechanic tells me they want $389 for labor and then the cost for parts so they gave me a total estimate of about $600 to replace the battery and alternator. So I walked next door to Mayco Muffler and asked them how much would they charge me to replace those two things if I bought the parts and they said $120 for labor. Which was a significant price drop. It's a family owned shop; father, son, mother and an additional mechanic. They had the car ready the next day and I haven't had any problems since. Oh yeah! They pushed my car to their shop which was awesome! So I will definitely be going back for all my car needs as well as referring this place to anyone in need. read more

I took my car here after i had a bad accident with a pot hole on a curve. I bent the lower control arm, broke the spindle, and the wheel. I replace all of that but had the VST and TRAC OFF light on. I did not want to take this to the dealer because G-D all mighty they where going to rob me of my money. So I gave these guys a try. I forgot the name of the guy, but he is trilingual, speaks Spanish, English and Romanian. He spent 2 hours on my vehicle, ran the computer codes, test it, took it for a ride, check the codes again and then gave me the vehicle back. I was expecting to pay him at least 100 bucks. Who does anything for free huh? lol He gave me the keys back and I ask him how much I own him, he said "Nothing, all I did was reset the computer and took it for a ride. The curve probably trigger the light but since it is fixed It probably won't come back on. If it does just bring it back and ill check the codes again." Man my jaw drop and I was relief.
