I would leave -5 stars if I could. Horrible place don't recommend they will tell you your issue is fixed and it absolutely is not. The mechanics aren't up to date with newer vehicles and just do a sloppy job. My engine mount had broken and broke a couple parts on the way down and instead of ordering new parts and replacing them which is what they charged for. They instead welded everything together making a huge metal blob mess that took my dealership a very hard and expensive time to fix. When the engine mount broke again. I'm back again! This is my go-to place for an inspection, oil change, etc. So now my husband surprised me with a full tune up for my car. We dropped the car off close to 9am Monday morning. Charlie (or Charles) was so nice, he offered to drive us home after we dropped the car off since we were going to walk back to our apartment down the street. We declined because we wanted to enjoy the outside scenery and get a quick workout in. I guess it's time for me to update my review for Ed's Car Care. This is, by far, the most convenient place for me to go because I can literally walk to and from this place no problem. This mean, I can drop off the car and then walk home. However this is not why I upgraded my review for the place. I've come to Ed's a few times after my original review which I had written after I got my car inspected here. Since then, I've had them change my oil, put new brake pads and rotors on the car (labor only), and just general check up and whatnot. I usually deal with a guy named Peter. Real cool guy and up front with the pricing. In addition, he doesn't try to upsell you on anything. He gives you a quote on what you want done, and that's it. If you ask him to check for anything else that needs repairing, he'll do it and then he'll tell you how much it'll cost. The last time I came here, I needed new rotors and pads installed on my baby. I had purchased all the necessary parts and I just needed someone to put them on. In all honesty, I could have put them on myself but I was just being lazy, so like a good chea.. I mean, frugal Asian guy, I looked up different car repair shops on Yelp and started calling around to get a quote. These were the places I called and how much they would have charged me. All prices are for all four wheels. - Ed's = $120 CASH or $130 with credit card - SG Auto = couldn't get through. I left my car there at 3:10 pm and I walked to the gym to work out. I came back to the shop around 4:30 pm and waited probably another 15 minutes and my car was ready to go. I asked them to inflate my tires also. No problem. So, my brake job was done in less than two hours! Brake Check said it'd take two hours just to replace the damn pads! Seriously?! I'm shaking my damn head right now. My only gripe with Ed's is when I asked them to do my oil change (labor only.) They still charged me $17 when they do their regular oil change for $19 and sometimes $17 with coupon. So, if I'm providing the oil and the oil filter, why am I still being charged $17? Come on, hook a brother up and maybe I'll upgrade my rating to a five. read more

My alternator went out, I was going to do it myself but called Ed's for a quote and was surprised how reasonable it was considering what I priced the part at. I dropped my car of an hour later (Saturday). Monday morning my car was ready for pick-up. When I received the bill it was exactly what was quoted over the phone (car runs great so far too). I went to fix a leak in my oil pan and kept getting nickel and dime'd to add little things here and there, which eventually led to a much higher bill than originally thought. A few months later, my engine info said I had an oil leak. I went to try and get it looked at after calling and seeing if it was a good time to come in because it had a year warranty on the labor. My boyfriend's co-worker told us about this place for a quality/professional/affordable oil change. (Serious word of mouth, wouldn't you say so?) Who knew you could have so many frustrations when getting an oil change? As a female, it is nearly impossible to get any kind of automobile work done without someone telling you 900++ things are wrong with your car or that something costs more than you expected it to. I mean, I am just getting an oil change, but you'd be surprised. Their prices are listed on the wall. They have a beautiful pup that hangs out in the waiting area. I will never go back. Went to get my pump replaced for the steering wheel for my Buick. Took my car there at 1 and left around 6. My boyfriend had to go back there to find out what was the problem and the mechanic didn't know what he was doing. My boyfriend had to help out which is sad. Right after I left ten minutes later my car was smoking from the steering fluid liquid and it's back to how i brought it. They rushed towards the end and the mechanic didn't even bleed it. If I could give zero stars, I would. I went in there to get an oil change and that was it. When they give me my car back, the light is still blinking saying I need an oil change (I have a 2009 Honda CRV), so I go back in and tell him. He then goes out and fixes it, and comes and gives me my keys. Well now my car won't start. So, once again, I go inside, he takes my keys..and comes back a couples minutes later. I get in my car, and the light is STILL blinking saying I need an oil change. I complain again, and he comes back and says it's fixed. Well I get home, go inside to change, come back out...and now my car won't start. Again. I call and ask wtf is going on and he says that my car was already broken when he got it. Why he didn't tell me, I asked? He said he "assumed I knew my car was broken." Wtf. So yeah, I now have to pay to get my car towed to my dealership to get it fixed. Thanks for nothing. read more

It was interesting to see the reviews for this business, it seems they are mostly 5 stars with a few bad ones sprinkled in. My experience was somewhere in between. I don't get it, everyone is raving about how the came through and fixed their car without giving a lot of details. Hmmm, isn't that what they do? I had an appointment on Saturday so it's nice they were able to fix my car that day, but I was ahead of the rush anyway. I needed a tuneup (which these days consists of changing the spark plugs and maybe adjusting the idle) and also the Check Engine light was on. So they needed to find the problem with that and fix it too. Apparently the part for that was about $50. So it all came too a little under $300. So it seems like they charged about the going rate for an independent shop. I didn't feel ripped off but I didn't feel like I got an incredible deal either. Unlike the other reviewers I wasn't blown away by their professionalism and service. They were ok. True, they didn't try to upsell me and did follow my directions, maybe that's why I rounded them up to 4 stars. Finally when my car was ready and I came to pick it up I had to wait like 15 minutes for them to get the receipt together and check me out. And the receipt wasn't very detailed to see what they had done. I suppose they were tired or just enjoying the moment toward the end of the day. Anyway it gave me plenty of time to pet the dog. I'm not sure if I dealt with the head guy or not. I may have talked with him on the phone. But it seems like this place is mostly a bunch of young guys who, from what I can see, are honest and trying to do a good job. Apparently with some supervision. read more

They provide a straight forward quote and give you a realistic date to pick up your vehicle. I have priced them over many shops in the area and they are always cheaper. I've been going here almost two years and I highly recommend it. I'm not from Houston so when I tried to look for trustworthy auto shops, I came across this place (thank you Yelp; you are a lifesaver). I called quite a few places to get quotes for multiple repairs to my car. This place was the most reasonable auto shop. After going there on 2 trips, I can say that I trust them to take care of my car. They don't charge for diagnostic (I think) but then again, I got 2 diagnostic tests done free at a dealership. Very reasonable prices and reasonable people. I had to wait a couple of hours the 2nd trip, but they lent me a car to drive to go do errands nearby. I will definitely go back to this place! Also, the owners are educated in fixing Mercedes and BMWs because they enjoy doing it. I would trust them to fix luxury cars of any kind. read more

I am a bit disappointed after taking my car here 3-4 times for the same issue. We kept on replacing part that was always working fine. Charlie and his guys are very nice. I think Charlie has done a lot of work for KBR or Halliburton or maybe even something like military contracted service or something?? You'd have to ask him to explain but he has a tremendous amount of service rewards for this on his wall. The Guys are so friendly and helpful and the prices are VERY reasonable.
