So I've been to Mayback's a few times and have to say I'm throughly impressed. I've driven by this place so many times I can't recall and had no clue its here. Mayback's is essentially your neighborhood corner store tucked into NF Blvd in a plaza. The easiest way to describe where it is, is the the small strip plaza across from Trader Joe's and Barnes and Noble. Walking in you'll notice its basically a convenience store with a sitting area, a few booths and tables and chairs. Immediately to your left from the door is the cashier counter, if you're looking to order from the deli you'll need to walk to the back and stay to the left. It's not a big place so you'll see the counter. While you wait for your order to be prepared you can browse the small space directly across to get your basics like beverages and other bodega items. Food wise I'm blown away, for anyone from Kenmore or familiar with Mike's Subs this place reminds me of the OLD Mike's Subs. My first order was a Turkey sub with bacon and a small fries. The sub is made fresh and was so big (full size) I took half of it home. The small fry was so large I thought I was mistakenly given a large until I ordered it again later and I got the same thing. My most recent visit I had a chicken finger sub and onion rings. I don't know how to describe it but it reminded me of when my Mom would treat us to chicken finger subs from a certain Tops on her way home from work. I find the subs fresh, plump. I don't know. The bread is right, the lettuce isn't over bearing, just the right amount of everything. Mayback's ha quickly become my new lunch grab. read more

This is the first time I visited Mayback's. This is little sleeper spot. Well I am awoke now lol. We ordered a Turkey Club and Tuna sub with a small side of onion rings. Everything was extremely fresh from the veggies to the meats and they come on nice Costanzo rolls! The subs were packed and not skimped upon. The onion rings were tasty and super crispy. Awesome place for lunch! Good food and fair prices. The food also comes out really quick. The guys are super nice inside. It reminds me of a NYC deli right on the busy Niagara Falls Blvd! I ordered a ham sub and it was great. No complaints at all. I also ordered a side of macaroni salad and it was decent. I'm not sure that it was homemade but it was a nice compliment to my sub. Inside the deli also sells chips and pop in several varieties. There are also novelty ice cream bars and snack cakes for dessert. I think this is a great place to run in and grab a bite to eat if you're out shopping on the boulevard. You won't spend too much time inside or they could also make food to go. read more

Mayback's is a true hidden gem. I don't think very many people realize there is a deli tucked away in the back of this little corner store. I used to come here daily when I worked around the corner at First Niagara. They have a huge menu and literally everything on it is delicious. When I say no-frills, I am seriously not kidding, so if you're into good food, large portions and low prices and don't care a lick about ambiance, then you'll love it here. Sandwiches are large and stuffed full of quality meats. Subs are great, (Yum chicken finger!) and the triple decker rueben is a must try for the big eater in the family. HUGE! Meat is lean and plentiful. My guys love the food. I try to eat lighter, so this type of food is not my first pick, but these guys are good at what they're trying to do. Not a lot of good options for the vegetarian in the family, but you can find something if you look hard enough. How to order take out: They have a unique set up there to get your food. They keep your order on a wire rack in the back of the store under a heating lamp. You just go up to the rack and find your own food, then bring it the counter to pay. They're a very friendly lot, so no worries if it's your first time. There are about 8 bench booths for dining in, if you'd rather be surrounded by neon signs and ATM machines while you eat. Again, no-frills. This is also a great place to stop by and grab an inexpensive soda/ bottle of water/ or/and a bag of chips too. Conveniently located by the major shopping district on NFB, where there are not many drugstores/convenient stores. I ordered a half Turkey sub and fries, I'm giving 2 stars only because the fries were good. Unfortunately whatever meat they called "Turkey" was some type of over processed slimy "Turkey" loaf , more akin to some type of mottled beige bologna. I can't believe any place calling itself a Deli would ever call something like this Turkey. It was absolutely disgusting. I just threw the sub away. I stopped in for lunch without ordering in advance and I was surprised how quick they were able to make my order. I ordered a half of a chicken finger sub which had 2 huge chicken fingers in it (if you like a lot of meat on your subs- I took one off) and I tried a small order of the spicy fries which were fries with a seasoning that had a little spice but not too hot. The order of fries was huge that I didn't finish them all but the food was very good. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with it being my first time I had a lot of questions. FYI you order at the back deli counter but pay up front at the register when it's done. They don't skimp, and the prices are great! The one day I went in they had a special of an assorted sub with fries, I paid 7 bucks. Buffalo is loaded with amazing sub, pizza and wing joints but this place needs to be in everyone's top 5 for best sub. I found out about Mayback's Deli through Yelp one Friday afternoon while craving fish fry quite badly. I'm picky about my fish fry; there were only two places (now three) that I trust enough to make fish fry exactly to my taste. Sadly, the first two places were quite a drive from me, and I was hungry. Other Yelpers had offered raving reviews for Mayback's Deli, so I figured I should give it a shot. I must admit that Mayback's Deli's exterior and interior were not what I had expected. Located on a strip mall, it looks more like a convenient store than a deli, and its interior setup seems to support that first impression with shelves of canned goods, chips, and snacks, and coolers along the back wall. The only indications that it is a deli are the kitchen in the back and the few booths in the middle of the store. I was skeptical and was a bit apprehensive while I made my order. I am glad to say that I was wrong to doubt. While I ate my dinner that night, all I could think of was, "Where have you been all my life?" My fish fry was delicious; crispy and moist and perfectly cooked and not at all smelling fishy, it was everything a good fish fry should be. Bonus point for big portion accompanied by loads of good fries. My husband got the scallop dinner, which consisted of six jumbo scallops as perfectly cooked as my fish, along with fries. I was back at Mayback's Deli the following week for some sandwiches, and they too, were quite delicious. I'm now fully convinced that there's no "ordering the wrong thing" at this place. Amazing breakfast sandwich. My new go to. Weighed about a lb, every part of it was delicious. What separates the sandwich here over other places is they put the hash brown right on the sandwich, giving each bite a nice crunch. I went with the ham which was delicious, friend went sausage which he said he loved too. Owner told me you can get sandwich with a variety of cheeses which transforms the sammy itself.
