I've been a loyal customer for over 2 years at this threading location and have promoted them to my friends and family. I always go in every 3-4 weeks asking for just a clean no thinning. When I finish getting my eyebrows done I always check. However, I didn't notice the major thinning on my eyebrows or the missing hairs because I had cooling gel on and obviously with gel it keeps eyebrows in tact. When I went in my car I checked again because my eyebrows had gotten teary eyes because I felt that too much hair was removed. Then, I saw that one of my eyebrows had been thinner than the other. I went back in and politely asked for a refund and the lady who did my eyebrows stationed at seat 3 said for me to go sit down again for her to fix it but I feared that it was going to get thinner, something that I didn't want. I asked again for a refund and they said that this location doesn't do refunds and I clearly showed them the picture. Both ladies mentioned that they would contact their owner for the refund but first needed a picture of the image above which didn't make sense because it was clear my eyebrow was thinned out. I never complain or never have received very botched eyebrows at this location. But, the reason I went inside was obvious. I was disappointed but agreed to them sending a picture to the owner if that was for me to receive a refund mind you I also tipped the lady? The owner-Lina replied "No Thin" and "No Refund" but clearly I was upset and the lady who did my eyebrows said that that's how my eyebrows normally are mind you she never has done my eyebrows or seen me the other lady sitting at booth 2 has and she said next time she'll do my eyebrows. I explained again that I have been loyal for 2 years and especially the lady sitting in booth 2 has seen me before and I mentioned how I have never had this experience before and was disappointed I wasn't able to receive a refund. In addition, the store never had a sign post of "no refund" and if this were to be the policy it should've been published at this location for customers to know what they're getting themselves into. The lady who did my eyebrows had shared as well that if my eyebrows were messed up she would acknowledge it but obviously she didn't want to acknowledge it. I don't understand the policy in this small business if I have a clear photo of my eyebrows being messed up. I want to conclude with I have never made a review on yelp. Today was my second visit. I thought it was going to be as good as my first time last month. Well, I was absolutely WRONG. I don't know if they have a new person there in training, but, that was very horrible of them to allow the person to have their own seat and clients. My eyebrows are so messed up, it's very obvious. The person completely destroyed the shape of them and also cut areas that should've never been touched. Now my eyebrows have an awkward and ugly shape/look. They saw and heard how disappointed I was, yet their remedy: charge me anyway and say come to the other person next time. I can't come back or go anywhere for months until my eyebrows fully grow back! If you go here, stick to who you know. Very upsetting second experience! Damn. I have been there a few times starting a few months ago and they mostly do a decent job. I like that they offer aloe gel at the end, the loyalty punch card, open on Sunday, and can tap to pay. I go with whoever is available, I had no preferred threader. Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience last time. The lady in chair 2 was excessively rough. I had cuts on both eyebrows and on one part of my upper lip. She had a very heavy hand and went very fast. I know the threads do break sometimes but it happened twice and when they did her hands hit down on my face very hard. My face HURT for three days, especially when I washed it and put my products and makeup on. I had to put an ice pack and take Tylenol for a couple of DAYS. That lady needs to be fired or go through intensive retraining. I always give many chances but I am done. I've had bad work done once in a while over the years, but never hurt like that. read more

UNEVEN SHORT LEFT EYEBROW. The lady told me it's my fault it happened because my hair was in the way.... I wasn't even upset I just asked her if I could simply get a discount at least because she butchered my eyebrow, but she said no and that my eyebrow would be fine in 2-3 weeks and will grow back and to get over it. I use to come here often and this place was very good but I think the lady is getting old and simply getting sloppy with her work. Found this place by accident & I was pleasantly surprised. I walked in & several ladies were already waiting but it didn't take long for my name to be called. I truly thought it would be an hour wait with no appointment. About 20 mins later , a very nice and bubbly young lady called my name. She did exactly what I needed her to do with a smile. Not everyone can do threading, it's truly a unique art. The prices are reasonable and ladies that run the shop are nice. read more

I never ever been to a different location to get my eyebrows done! I used to have my favorite place and person but I moved. And with 2 kids is hard to make the time to go somewhere. So I was visiting my friend who lived in Whittier and my husband suggested I go somewhere to get them done so my friends suggested this place. And it was perfect. The location was very clean and quiet and there was about 3 girls ahead of me but the lady was very fast!!! And I only waited a few minutes not a lot at all!!! My eyebrows needed serious work I haven't done them in about 2 almost 3 weeks! And my eyebrows are also very thick. I was in pain but she was quick on me. And she had me check just to see if they were good and I wanted a bit more done and she did it! She was so nice and patient with me. The only thing was that it was hot in there ! No AC , I was sweating because of the pain but the cool air would of definitely helped. I do recommend this place. And I will make the effort to come back when I'm in the area again. I went in around 11:30 on a Friday. There was no one there so service was fast. The younger lady was very nice to me. I got my eyebrows threaded for $5 because on yelp by the owner it said that. The process was relaxing but the result of my eyebrows were okay. They weren't great or horrible. She didn't really get the shape of my eyebrow and the arch was not really there. The underline of the eyebrow wasn't really straight as other people would do it. You can tell where she stopped and reposition the thread. I think she trimmed my eyebrow hair a bit too short because there is a bit of thinning in my eyebrows. The one tail of my eyebrow wasn't as sharp as I wanted it to be but the other side was great. It was okay for $5 but they charge $8 as regular price. If I got the same quality threading for $8 it's not really worth it even if the location is 5 minutes away from my house. I would rather drive an extra 15 minutes to go to my regular one that charges only $6. read more

Usually I go to European Wax Center but I didn't want to drive to Whittwood, and this place was cheaper. Price for a Brazilian is $35 (soft wax) and $45 (hard wax). I requested hard wax because it's more sensitive on the skin. The wax technician lacked experience, she applied the wax too thin which caused her to pinch the skin when trying to grab the end of the strip. The strip ripped mid pull which meant more pinching. She didn't press her hand down on the skin after she pulled the strip to relieve some of the pain. She would reapply wax on the same spot which made the wax feel hotter on the freshly pulled skin. I didn't let her finish; she did the top and bikini line, the session was 20min and I was charged the full price. European Wax Center finishes a Brazilian wax in half that time, but it is a bit pricier. Totally worth it for the experienced technicians. read more

So when I looked in the mirror today (sans makeup - I don't recommend) and saw how unkempt the brows looked, I thought, "I should check out that Maya place." Now I love threading. I had an unfortunate waxing experience last year (unfortunate in that my best friend ripped off a chunk of my eyelid two days before I was to be her maid of honor) and am not willing to wax anything besides the bikini area for fear of future injuries. The place was clean and the ladies were friendly. I really liked the Indian music softly playing in the background during the threading of my eyebrows. It relaxed me during a procedure that can produce tears... The ladies who worked there were super friendly and gave me a punch card for frequent guest. Turns out, after your tenth visit, the next eyebrow threading is FREE!! At only $7 for my brows to look brilliantly beautiful was cheap, quick and easy. I come here to the Whittier location because it's close. They are pretty quick and efficient. That's been my experience each time. I broke my leg this summer. When I came to get my eyebrows down the lady was very nice and accommodating. She helped me and used their receptionist chair. I couldn't sit in their threading chairs. Keep in mind I came in with a walker. They didn't turn me away or anything like that. The only thing I would recommend is to cool the place down as it seems to be on the warm side. Today I went and saw Kindy she was amazing. She was quick and effective and didn't hurt me. Hey she even had a smile on her face. And had some nice perfume on. I've been coming here on and off for a few years now because the location is convenient for me. Honestly, every experience here has been positive! The owner and her daughter are very polite, and they even have stamp cards that can be redeemed for free services. I went in today after a jog so my face was a little grimy, but I cleaned up and got a full face threading which came out great! My only complaint would be that I wasn't given any witch hazel after, something that every other threader provides after their service. I have sensitive, acne prone skin, so the witch hazel really calms my face after I get it threaded. I didn't want to have to ask for it when it's something that should be automatically offered! I have been coming to this salon since i was 15. I am now 19 almost 20 and it's about time I write a well deserved review. Each wonderful lady here is so incredibly talented, so professional, and so sweet. I typically never have to wait more than 5 minutes if at all to be seen and I can be in and out of there in 10! I used to get my eyebrows waxed but had to find a threading place due to my retinoid acne meds making my skin super sensitive and I'm so glad my friend recommended this place. I've never had issues with skin irritation here as the materials and salon are always clean and the service is gentle but effective. Came to this place cause it's near my house and I wanted to try out. I have been growing my eyebrows for a while now so they are finally nice and thick and I came for a "clean up " when lady was done my eyebrows were thin!!!!! I wanted to cry! First I thought thin eyebrows are not in right now so why would she do that and if she was gonna do a drastic change why didn't she ask!!!! It also hurt and it usually never hurts me, not sure if it was the thread they use or the fact she was pulling all my hairs!!! I will never come to this place again. The woman who did my eyebrows (older Indian decent looking woman) was the person who was threading my eyebrows they came out very uneven, it hurt a lot! (I've had my eyebrows threaded before and I never experienced this much discomfort) and she didn't even want to correct them until I told her twice! Her daughter (a very very skinny Indian looking girl) was telling her in their language what I'm assuming would be how she needs to correct my eyebrows and after they were finished she only gave me a tissue to wipe my face like really some dry ass tissue isn't gonna remove any hair at least damp it a little.... & when I got home and washed my face I noticed that my left eyebrow is REALLY THIN at the end and the right eyebrow is THICK... BEWARE. I am writing this after just getting my eyebrows threaded from this place. It was my first time here, the regular place I go to is in Cerritos & I should have just driven there for a decent threading. First off, I told the lady to CLEAN up my brows & DO NOT thin them out. She basically ATTACKED my brows! She had no direction as to where or what she was threading & the whole time she was yelling in my ear talking to her friend! Ridiculous! She was not friendly at all! Worst experience ever! My poor daughter HAD beautiful, full, naturally shaped eyebrows. She went in to get them cleaned up and left looking like a freaken tweaker! One eyebrow has a high arch and the other has a weird curve. The one with a curve has too much taken from the inside AND outside so now her center is wide and crooked plus the end is completely gone. The lady didn't even treat her skin with astringent when she was done to close her pores so her skin was left exposed to bacteria which causes breakouts. Who does this? read more

I've never had my eyebrows threaded but always heard that it looks great but hurts like hell. Well, I had 4 hours to kill and if you've ever been to Whittier you would understand why trying threading out seemed like something fun to do. It was definitely a different experience but my eyebrows look great. It wasn't painful at all (then again my tolerance is high so I don't know) and it was very quick. And cheap! 7 bucks? I've been to various Maya Threading locations (Monterey Park, Cypress, and another Whittier location) and unfortunately, this one was not like the others. The threading is ok; I tried different people every time and no one person ever made my eyebrows look really great. I tried their waxing service (since I've been waxing my under arms for almost 6 years straight) and it was the most horrible experience ever. I was severely burned and I literally cannot wax anymore because it hasn't been able to heal from the burn. I really wanted to like this location since it's so close to home, but it cause more harm to go there. read more
