When the menu says spicy, I feel it is already adjusted for NJ tastebuds--in other word haven't hit a firebreathing heat level yet. Love the duck dishes, and my love goes for shrimp and pad thai. Gluten free options can be found. For wine we BYO a sauvignon blanc or pinot noir, which pair reasonably with the widest spectrum of dishes we choose. read more

Everything here is delicious and the staff is outstandingly kind. Maya Thai's food is prepared with care and is held to an extremely high standard by the owner, Miss Dolly. The ingredients are extremely fresh, and the chefs are careful to honor spice level requests. My family and I particularly love the fresh summer rolls, crispy crab rangoon, and Thai dumplings to start. The dressing for the Miso Salad hits the perfect balance, their broad noodles in dishes such as Pad See Ew and Drunken Man (my personal favorite) are light, and the balance of flavors in all of their dishes is excellent. I also recommend anything that has duck in it...they make the skin so crispy! If you are looking to impress, order the whole fish - the flavor and presentation are impressive. The ambiance of the restaurant is light and lovely - perfect for a date or dinner with friends. Lunch is also an excellent value, for those who like to eat a main meal earlier in the day. Don't forget to bring a bottle of wine, if you wish, as the restaurant is BYOB - you can enjoy it dining outside as well. There's an old saying - "if your pregnant wife demands Thai food, you should go find some Thai food". Never was this more true of the first day I ordered from Maya Thai. Subsequently we have ordered on a few other occasions. Everything is excellent. Particularly the drunk man noodles and the papaya salad. The crispy spring rolls are marginally disappointing at times. We came here for the first time on a Saturday night with high hopes. The waitress was very rude to us and I honestly thought it was something we did. She seemed a lot nicer to others. First of all, there were four of us and she only brought 3 glasses of water. After confirming that my 9 yo would also like a glass (we didn't order another drink for her), the water never came. My husband ordered a glass of iced green tea and it never came and yet they tried to charge us for it. We saw the waitress asking other tables with a smile if they would like water refills but never asked us. The food was ok - tasty but I thought it was on the salty side. We picked up take-out on a Sunday night. The portions are small. A choice of large or small sized entrees not offered. There was grit throughout the Chinese broccoli in the Pad See Ew, which was otherwise good...maybe a bit salty. I was first impressed with the beautiful interior, and then came the food. The lunch menu offered a flavorful Tom Yum Soup. My entree Bangkok Noodle, was tasty but surprisingly mild -- unusual for Thai food. The server brought us a small pot of red chili. Dessert was the highlight of my meal: fried bananas, quartered and wrapped in a wonton, arranged around a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel sauce. The food is good but the service is very bad. I went last week with a few friends and the host was very rude. We asked to switch tables bc we were seated near a kitchen nook. The host was so angry to move us that we heard her slam two tables to seat us elsewhere. We moved passed this and even left a generous tip. Because the food is good, I decided to go back with my family to try. The service was a little better and the owner is nice. We were disappointed when we asked our host for a dessert menu and she said there is no dessert tonight. We got there at 6:30pm and asked for dessert at 7:40pm. Later the owner came to our table and we asked if they had dessert tonight bc I was there the previous week and knew what was on the menu. She gave us options of ice cream etc... I believe lying to a customer that is paying for their meal and dessert is a NO GO! We were told that she is the sister, not sure if she is also a part owner. The sister basically needed us to clear our table and did not want to serve us anymore. There was a family seated near our table with a little baby. Our table was so close to theirs and when the baby got off the mother's lap, he hit his head on the corner of the table and started crying. The same sister gave them a very nasty look when the baby started crying. A few other tables witnessed it. We love Thai food and we were very happy to hear that this new place opened up near us. They either need more staff or the the sister needs to change her attitude towards customers that would like to try their restaurant. read more

Very tasty Thai food ! We ordered the drunk man noodles with tofu and the pineapple fried rice with veggies and both were yummy ! The tofu was probably the softest tofu I have had at a Thai restaurant. The restaurant ambience was also quite nice. Curious about the new Thai spot to take over the Xocolatz venue. Pleasant and prompt service, not rushed nor did we have have to repeat a request. No issues with dirty tables and chairs as mentioned in another review. Everything clean and tidy. Tried a go-to, duck salad, and it was delicious. Crunchy duck, apples nicely julienned in a light and flavorful dressing. The pad Thai with shrimp was happily devoured by my companion. The curry puffs. Best. Ever. Best of luck to Maya Thai. First time at this restaurant for my adult daughters birthday, we were 10 people. The food was excellent, not so much the wait staff. They bordered on being rude, to the point that we had to ask them if there was something we did to have them act this way. We brought our own cupcakes, not knowing this was something that was allowed. We had to ask for appetizer plates. Would not return to eat in, which is a shame because the food is great. My friend and I were served the vegetable tom yam soup, and her bowl had a large dark hair stuck to the inside of the rim. When we alerted the waitress to this, she offered to replace that with another appetizer, but my bowl just sat there.
