a receipt for a restaurant
Juan G.

The Asian guy at the register is unfriendly and rude, he's does not great, smile, give info about items and rushes you to place your order, even when I was the only one waiting to place an order. Seems like other ppl have experienced the same. The interior of the restaurant is ok but somewhat gives an impression it's not clean. Food was flavor was average. Portion size was ok. This is a below average restaurant.

It had spilled and the noodles were climbing out the the bowl...

Edit: Just tried the actual food. Ramen is like Top Ramen. I ended up just eating pizza. Don't waste your money. The register guy was unfriendly to start. You'd think during this COVID thing people would be nicer. He gave me the bag with the soup ALREADY on the bottom of the bag. I saw his tie it with the soup on the bottom. THEN I discover that the lid wasn't put on right... the noodles were on the OUTSIDE of the bowl. I will NEVER come back here. And I've been trying to support locally becasue of the virus, but screw this place.

Chicken/beef bowl after I smothered it in teriyaki and chili sauce :)

This is my go to teriyaki spot. The place looks run down inside and outside, but their chicken teriyaki bowls are what keep me coming back. I also always get the California roll, and while I wouldn't consider this a place to get sushi, I actually really enjoy it. It's super good IMO. The employees and owner are always serious. They either play coast 103.5 or a Spanish station as background music, which is why I love coming here as well. This place definitely needs a makeover, but overall I've never had a bad experience here and I come as often as I can. The only major downside is that they are super stingy with their sauces lol UPDATE: This was my first time trying the half and half bowl. The beef was not good. Stick to the chicken :)

Burnt katsu plate.

Came here at a suggestion from a friend for their sushi. Don't let the name fool you, it's a teriyaki house that plays Mexican music. No issue there, just...weird. Continuing on, I order two rolls of sushi and decide to venture out and get a chicken katsu plate. The rolls were decent, not the best, but worth it's $7. The Katsu however was uber burnt, to the point where you couldn't eat it. So for this, they get a 2 star rating. In the 30 mins I was here with my friends they had a constant flow of customers. So despite the burnt katsu, there must be something that keeps the customers coming. Suggestions: crunch roll, shrimp tempura, and chicken teriyaki bowl.

About average teriyaki. Sushi is not very tasty or neat. Owner needs to treat employees better especially in front of customers.

I usually get their chirashi (which they also have a lunch chirashi special), and the fish is always fresh and good quality. The also have lunch specials and often have other great specials. The last time I went, they had a "buy 2 rolls, get 1 free" deal, and they have Sapporo beer on draft for $1.99! If you have friends who don't like raw fish, they also have a good selection of cooked items - tempura, chicken teriyaki, udon noodles, etc. There's really something for everyone. They have a bunch of TVs and will usually have the game on if there is one. There's also a lot of street parking and free parking lots around since it's Downtown Bellflower. If you like good sushi for a good price, then Kikyo's definitely a place to check out.

They offer to-go or seating at their sushi bar or tables. There is limited parking in front but there is more than plenty available in the rear near the post office or across the street behind the opposite shops. The service is consistent but the sushi itself has had it's ups and downs. The specials and drinks were great at one point but its a little harder to try other things on the menu for their price points here. The same value here would get me about 30-50% more or so somewhere else, even Cerritos or Long Beach.

I usually order thru doordash & pick up, but the dine in area is very small and cozy w anime figures. again, if it were up to me, I'd only tell close friends about this place but I just needed to give credit where it's due. what shocks me the most is how the fish melts in your mouth, their quality is always consistent. when you order nigiri, the rice is even smaller portioned than the first knuckle of my thumb and the amazing fatty fish is 3x bigger than the rice. amazing ratio. i am loyal to daru sushi forever. god forbid this place shuts down, the only place that would hold a candle up to daru sushi is sashimi from japan directly. i'd quit eating sushi in socal if it meant i couldn't eat from daru again and i mean that. love u forever daru.

Server and chef very attentive. From the moment you walk in feels like you're dropping in a tiny shop in japan. My teens like their anime decor. I also really like their cocktails. Would be a nice addition if they served deep fried ice cream.
