Unfortunately, I can't recommend this company due to the lack of communication and professionalism. We booked a same-day hibachi event for 22 people and paid in full via Zelle that afternoon. We were told the chef would arrive between 6:00-6:30 PM to set up so we could begin eating at 7:00 PM. Around 6:15 PM, after hearing nothing, I reached out and was told the previous event was running behind and the chef would arrive closer to 7:00 PM. At 7:30 PM, the chef called and informed us he was still about an hour away. He ultimately didn't arrive until around 8:45 PM, and dinner wasn't served until about 9:30 PM--roughly 2.5 hours later than scheduled. What was most frustrating was that we repeatedly asked for updates and were never given an accurate ETA. Had we known the delay would be this significant, we could have adjusted our plans and informed our guests accordingly. We were also told we only needed to provide tables and chairs, but when the chef arrived, we found out plates and utensils were not included either. I want to emphasize that the chef himself was fantastic. The food was great, he was entertaining, and he handled the situation professionally. My issue is entirely with the company's communication and customer service. After the event, I politely requested consideration for a partial refund or discount due to the delays and miscommunication. I have yet to receive any response. The chef earned 5 stars. Wow, do we love Hibachi. It is a truck and you want to try it. They also cater, but we have no done that yet, but we will. The service is just wonderful and they will take good care of you. The people who go there are friendly and you will have a nice calm experience. They are also open later. YAY. We love all of their food. Most plates are serviced with vegetables and a great steamed rice. You must try their lobster plate. It is the best. They also have great shrimp, chicken and steak plates. Their NY steak and lobster plate is just as good as a fine dinning place. You can also get filet and steak as a plate or NY steak and chicken. It is all great. There is not one thing not to like here. They also have burritos that my husband loves. I don't care for green tortillas so I avoid them, but he swears by them. They also have great noodle bowls. This Hibachi House deserves no stars at all. If there were an option for zero stars, I would choose that. I placed a DoorDash order on June 3rd at approximately 11:30 PM from their new location at 8327 Gardendale St. in Downey, CA, specifically ordering the Filet Mignon Plate. I received a tray containing a small amount of dry beef, hard and dry white rice (I know my rice, especially as someone from an Asian background), and no vegetables. For $30, this was an unacceptable meal that wasn't fresh, and they didn't bother to call me to let me know if they had run out of vegetables. As a loyal DoorDash member, I received a full refund after raising my complaint. This was only my second order this year, and I can confidently say it will be my last. I attempted to contact the number listed on DoorDash for this food truck, but all my calls went to voicemail. If you are the owner, I urge you to contact me directly to understand how you operate your business. We ordered three plates and one side of noodles, the total came out to around $110 with tax. If I'm paying anything over $70, I expect a decent meal. How were we suppose to communicate if we didn't speak the same language? This should have been communicated to us. I would not have hired them. 3. The setup was so bad. They used plastic utensils, plastic sauce trays, terrible quality chairs/ tables...along with everything else. 4. The server placed all the plates on the table and picked it up again to serve the food. I honestly don't know what they were doing. It didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. 5. My party didn't eat a lot, so there was a significant amount of food left over. Does chef or staff took the entire leftovers. I had paid for all that food, so why would they take it? 6. Literally, there was no entertaining. The chef did a little lame fire thing ONLY for a instagram video. there was absolutely no interaction. I have had several parties catered by Hibatchi entities. This was the worst experience ever. I have contacted them to provide them details of why I was so dissatisfied. They told me that they would provide me with the refund. Ok where do I start, terrible experience a whole hour. I had to wait 30 minutes for them to make rice. I had to wait another 20 minutes for them to make chicken. Another 10 minutes to make vegetables. And another 15-20 minutes for orders to be packed and ready. Everything took longer than it should have. They would not send food out until ALL orders were finished being made. They laid out 15 plates, served all with rice first once it was done, then they started making the meats, AND THEN they started the vegetables. NONE got lids until ALL orders were complete, which caused many orders along with both of mine (basic chicken plates) lose warmth. Halfway into packing, the lady with long nails who was packaging the food, with NO GLOVES by the way, took another 2 orders before the food was covered, HANDLED CASH, and then went back to packing with NO GLOVES OR SANITIZING HANDS. On top of that, my orders were incomplete, as they were both missing the vegetables. Checked on the menu and it comes with rice, chicken, AND vegetables. If that was the case, I could've got my order at least 20 minutes sooner. Didn't realized until I got home, called the truck to see how I can get reimbursed, but no answer. On top of that the chicken was tough and dry, thanks to sitting out uncovered for so long. I basically just got rice plates with a sprinkle of chicken. On top of that the lady only gave me half of the sauces I was supposed to get. Pictures attached so people can see for themselves. We decided to try this place because we drive past it every night and it's always busy. That day it was only me waiting to order it took them at least 30 minutes to take my order by the time i was ordering there were at least 15 people behind me. Don't know where the bad reviews are coming from, but this is my 2nd time here because I visit Downey about every other month and this place is great, good food with good flavor and the customer service is always good! This food truck is great and one of the best I've tasted and experienced. I've had the chicken, shrimp and steak and today just had the steak and chicken. Along with the fried rice, the flavor the seasoning and overall flavor profile of this meal is simply delish! Ambiance, well it's a food truck so don't know how much ambience there is. Only thing that I would say, is perhaps bringing a portable table and chairs so clients who want to just order and eat, have somewhere to sit vs having only to go orders. I think this would be a great concept and probably make this food truck and more attractive to passerby's ! read more
