This is my new favorite local spot. We live within walking distance of Maya Bistro and have gotten takeout multiple times, and we just dined outdoors there. The outdoor setup is charming (despite being right on the highway,) with big red umbrellas that can be adjusted the keep the sun off of the table. The staff is always gracious and kind, and the food is fresh and delicious. I love the dips trio (Htipiti is my favorite,) and the zucchini cakes are the best I've ever had. It is a treat to have a new restaurant with Turkish & Mediterranean cuisine in Arlington. The corner location on Lee Highway is bright and welcoming, and we found the food excellent. My husband & I are familiar with Turkish food, having traveled widely in Turkey over many years. We started off with Raki, the anise-flavored spirit that goes so well food, especially seafood. We were in the mood for a lighter dinner so we had a half-dozen mezze dishes. The Htipiti appetizer of red pepper with a light amount of cheese was delicious, as was the grilled eggplant, the okra, the fried zucchini cakes and yogurt. The service was outstanding. We said we were much too full for dessert, but the owner insisted that we try his mother's baklava on the house. WOW! We found our appetites again---it was the best baklava I have ever eaten, so fresh, crisp, and just modestly sweet. The service was outstanding and no doubt we will be returning soon. read more

I've been waiting for this lovely place to open for months now, finally they are open for business now. My friend I had delicious Mezze platter for and Mix Grill platter later on. They were both amazingly flavored. I highly recommend this place if you want to truly taste flavors of Mediterranean. Eda and Murat are two siblings, they are managing the front, mother and the father are cooking healty food in the back. I can't wait to come back and try more of their amazing food. read more

My wife and I ate here for the first time on Friday April19th, 2019 and I must say this place deserves all the hype that has been praised on them since they have been opened in a short time. Our server was Fikri who was very attentive and informative about the menu. I did notice he was really hustling as the restaurant was packed. There were other servers assisting other tables as well; Plus we were lucky to snag a table without a reservation. I would recommend booking or calling ahead. We started wiiyh the grilled calamari with a grilled half of lemon as an appetizer. You can taste the calamari and how well it is grilled and prepared. I had for my main course thelamb shish with fries and my wife had all the vegetable/vegan dish. Both were extremely tasty and prepared and seasoned well. We did not partake in dessert. I would definitely come back and try other dishes on the menu as there are some ones that seem interesting as well to try. If you are in the area, give this restaurant an opportunity. Food was very flavorful. I ordered the chicken yogurt dish. The chicken was tender and the flavor of the tomato-yogurt sauce paired very well with it. We also had Turkish wine which was great! The service could use some improvement and the menus need to be updated. Just to start out with, the restaurant itself is very clean and very welcoming! The staff is incredibly friendly and the business itself appears to be majority family-run. My table started off with a 4 person mezze, which I highly recommend. I tried a bite of my friend's lamb and it was so roasty! The only reason I am giving a 4 star rating is because a 20% tip was added to our bill. I rarely write reviews but I am so utterly impressed with the food and service at Maya Bistro that I have to. We have now dined there twice in 5 days and everything we've ordered has been beyond expectations. I therefore recommend everything we've tried (and eventually the whole menu once we get around to it-probably soon!); the Manti, the chicken sandwich, the chicken shish (kebob), hummus (absolutely creamy and delicious with homemade warm bread), fried calamari, hellim (fried cheese omg), and baked zucchini stuffed with ground beef & rice with a spicy tomato sauce and creamy yogurt sauce. You can tell the amount of passion and skill that goes into this food, so it's not surprising that the husband and wife duo in the back (who also own the place) are cooking their family recipes that have been passed down for years. I was excited to purchase a gift card as a gift for a family member who lives just around the corner from Maya Bistro. I live several states away so cannot pick it up. I was informed by one of the managers that they are unable to mail a gift card. The only option they provided was to have the recipient pick it up, which did not seem like much of a gift to me. I thought they could have been more flexible with my request, even if it is not a common occurrence for this restaurant. (I ended up choosing a different restaurant for the gift.) read more

We finally decided to visit Maya for lunch. The atmosphere at the restaurant is wonderful, Turkish music and very friendly staff. We visited with kids and got falafel salads which were fresh and delicious. The kids grilled chicken with rice and vegetables was excellent. Chicken was lemony and tender. Baklava for dessert was excellent. All in all a very pleasant experience. I absolutely enjoy establishments with such friendly people! We will definitely be back soon. read more

Did take out from them this week. Great get set up you drive up side of restaurant and they put order in your car. All safe and no getting out. Ordered apps humus, pelitcan, dolmas and cigars. I was there the other day for lunch. I didn't even know that it was a Turkish restaurant. It was a sudden decision to dine in there and I just liked the way this restaurant looks. Very clean and perfect spot, but I never seen this restaurant before so either it's new or I just didn't pay attention. It was a pretty fast serving which I was really impressed. Staff member was so nice and very friendly. The food was so good. As an American I'm a pizza lover and they brought me something like it and I don't remember the name. We're really glad we decided to try this new Turkish restaurant. The sunlit and tasteful interior was a plus. Service was excellent, and there was a tempting array of options on the menu. My husband and I ate here tonight and we were very pleased with our delicious, fairly priced meal. It was amazing! After looking at the reviews, we started with a cold plate of hummus, htipiti and baba ganoush. It was super good but there was even better to come. We had the 'mixed grill for two' as our entree. It was SO tasty and it was SO much food. The presentation was simply beautiful and the variety and flavors were perfectly blended. I would be remiss not to mention that I tried some Turkish red wine, which was lovely and a perfect pairing to our meal. Not bad. I started with the spinach appetizer, which sounded great, but the yogurt garlic sauce was rather tasteless and kind of ruined the dish. The lamb chops were out of this world. So tender and tasty, I think they were the best I've ever had. The vegetable side I ordered with it, however, was about 75% undercooked celery. Service was decent. read more

This place really is as good as the other reviews claim. It's modern and sleek, with a Turkish and pan-Mediterranean menu that has a few twists. We ordered the roasted red pepper spread, Maya cheese "cigars," fried calamari, beet & orange salad, red lentil soup, chicken shish, and the apricots in honey, caramel, on vanilla mascarpone for dessert. Omg! Delicious!! My favorite thing (aside from the dessert), was the beet & orange salad because it's served atop cold mashed potatoes. It's inspired. Oh, and I tried both a cappuccino and a Turkish tea. It can be exceedingly difficult to find an amazing cappuccino, but this place has it! A good and varied wine list, although I didn't try any wine today. The place was clean and the staff was lovely. Service was fast and correct. Prices were very good for this area. My family and I visited on a whim in search for a good local Mediterranean spot. We ordered the Ezme, the Dolma, the flatbread and the four person shareable platter with extra lamb chops. The kabobs were incredibly flavorful and the rice was an excellent accompaniment. The lamb chops were cooked medium rare and were marinated to perfection. I got the Turkish tea which was a standard smoky black tea. I love tea and plan to go back and ask what type of tea it was was. Our waitress was attentive and very accommodating to certain food allergies at the table. All in all, Maya is a fantastic and affordable place to experience high quality and home cooked Turkish food! We've been patrons of this restaurant since they first opened, first as in-diners and now we only do take out. We love the fresh Mediterranean food and the always friendly service. The reason for the 4 star review instead of 5 is due to the terrible take-out packaging this restaurant uses. They use styrofoam and clam-shell containers that not only leak every single time we bring the food home, but more importantly, are not recyclable. We've noticed that most other restaurants we do take-out from in this area have stepped up and upgraded their containers to be more environmentally friendly, but Maya Bistro has not. I hope this note will encourage them to re-think their practices in this regard. read more

We tried Adana, it was really delicious. Most of the kabobs in U.S. is too spicy but this is not. This is real Turkish Adana kabob. The place is clean and nice. I recommend anyone who likes Turkish food. read more
