This place was some of the most awful Chinese food I've EVER had. Seriously, can I give no stars? We ordered a few dishes, can't remember what exactly it was...I think one was Basil Chicken. Regardless, every dish we got tasted exactly the same and was soaked in brown oily sauce. What irked me the most was one of the dishes was supposed to be a noodle dish, and I kid you not, instead of real rice noodles they threw a few crisy noddles on the top of the dish (like the stuff on an asian salad). I've had the pleasure of doing business with the folks at May Wah, for three years. In my time doing business with them I've always received phenomenal service, phenomenal food, and most importantly personalized service generally being greeted on a first name basis when ever I call in for a pick-up or delivery. The food always arrives, hot and delicious! My favorite by far is the Seasme Chicken, and I think recently discovered the Thai Iced Tea and let me tell you OMG!!! We order from May Wah on a regular basis. All the dishes are fresh, well-prepared and pretty to look at. Among our favorites are the fried dumplings, the hot and sour soup and the moo shu dishes. The toasted crust of the dumplings doesn't even seem fried and the pork inside is well-seasoned. The hot and sour soup has delicious flavors and is full of tasty bits of veggies and tofu. We love the crisp veggies and succulent meat in the moo-shu dishes, and the sauce that comes with the pancakes is just divine. This was the best Chinese food I've had in Boulder. I had pretty much given up on getting good Chinese in this town. The beef & broccoli was so yummy and the portion sizes are really generous. Definitely can't wait to go back! The cheese and crab wontons were awesome as well. So excited to try more of the menu since it's pretty close to home for me. We ended up here after the kids rejected the offerings at "Noodles & Co." Reasonably good pho, though I've had better. One bowl had too many noodles and the other not enough. The chicken with basil was also pretty good. Service was good, though nothing special. Agree with the comments others have about the decor, and after we ate (!) I was reading the comments about the bathrooms, so I took a look. I've lived and traveled in India so very little truly scares me any more, but this was definitely sub-standard for the US. For the price I doubt we'll be back. The overall experience is that of a $4 pho joint aimed at the student market. The prices are not. read more

Awesome pho. Several options- but basically all different types of beef, or one vegetarian option. I did not mind this, I usually like steak pho anyway, but some may want to know this. Also ordered Vietnamese egg roll- delicious- and Chinese chicken lo mein for my kids, which might have been best lo mein I've had in years. Only things to gripe about are the ambiance a little...the place is plenty clean but there is no music at all. I think a little music, no matter what it was, would be nice. We have been to this restaurant several times and have found it to be consistently good. I prefer the combination noodle bowl, which is a Vietnamese dish. My wife enjoys the pad Thai. We also frequently order the Vietnamese spring rolls which are excellent. When we take my 88-year-old mother in law there, she likes the sweet-and-sour shrimp. Generally, I am not a fan of fried food but have to admit they do this one pretty well also. The facility is newly remodelled and is quite nice. The dine in service is quite good. Don't be put off by the scruffy decor. May Wah is a solid neighborhood restaurant. Every dinner order delivery we've gotten has been consistent and fast. In addition to the staples (hunan beef, pork fried rice, etc), they make excellent pho (I know, I was surprised too). Drunken noodles are also very good. I discovered this place a few years ago and I always seem to end back up here when I am craving Vietnamese food. I think they do a GREAT vermicelli bowl and its loaded with vegetables, which I appreciate. I also think their pho is surprisingly awesome! The broth is very flavorful and they give you a HUGE portion. I think their Chinese/Thai food is also pretty good! I am not a huge fan of orange chicken but all my friends who have ordered it there have LOVED it. I've tried their mongolian beef, beef and broccoli, chicken lo-mien, green curry, pad thai, pad see eiw, and a bunch of their appetizers and I thought they were all pretty good. If you want Thai, this is not the place to go. The Pad Thai is good, but definitely not as good as Thai Avenue and the pad see eiw is not made with traditional wide rice noodles. We used to eat here quite often back in the day as it was pretty decent Chinese food. Wee stopped eating here because it became so filthy! The bathrooms were so dirty we wouldn't use them, and we noticed the kitchen wasn't so spic and span either. We were on pretty good terms with the owners because we ate there so much, and explained why we wouldn't be returning, but a few months later ,when we thought we would pop in and see if it might be safe to eat there once again, the situation was the same: Really, really gross. read more

I love their food very much, and the tall middle-aged man that waits tables is awesome. My only complaint, and the only reason I'm not leaving five stars, is that some of the waiters have a nasty habit of making fun of customers. My Chinese-speaking friend and I went here once and she overheard the waitresses mocking us in Chinese right in front of us, and another time one of them even went as far as to laugh openly when she saw my boyfriend put soy sauce in his pho. To be fair, if I saw someone put ketchup in their gin and tonic I'd probably laugh too, and I'm sure it's about the same level of weird to them. It's just not acceptable to treat paying customers like that, though. They recently remodeled, and it's lovely. The waiters are a major drawback but not enough so to stop me from going. Pretty good. I was nervous after reading these reviews however it wasn't bad. I had the hot and sour soup, which was nice. I also had the chicken satay, which I totally recomend to anyone who likes peanut but not a whole lot of spice. Great flavor, and tons of chicken and vegetables. Definately enough for two to share if you're light eaters. I also had the Thai Iced tea which was on par with other places. We had the pho and it was less than stellar. The broth was so so, but the veggies were not fresh. Soggie cilantro, sprouts and basil. I love this place. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly when I wanna go and eat in, and everything I've had so far is delicious. The menu is large and you can't go wrong on exploring it. My boyfriend and I go there all the time it is both our favorite place to get take out, and we can never go without getting their won-tons, which are UGH SO GOOD. thier PHO is really good.... however since my last review... this place has gone down hill.. the PhO is hit or miss now... half the time there are very little bean sprouts... sometimes the meat is 70% fat.. but other times.. .The bomb.. just inconsistant.. the food is going downhill. last dish I ordered it tasted like they didn't balance the fish and oyster sauce and it tasted really fishy,.. they need to bring themselvs back up to the standard they used to be. ****UPDATE***** the PHO is now getting really bad... last 3 times I order it... its missing something.. and this last time I got it.. the worst.. .the bean sprouts were browning and looked like they gave me what someone else didn't use. there was NO green onions and NO Parsley(or Cilantro) the onions were dry and limp .. the broth is good.. but that was about it.
