Good lunch spot in Alameda. The food was very good - hot and tasty. And the service was good as well. I would go back!

Great service, food was excellent and very spicy on request. The inside is small and quiet but with a lot of space between you and other guests. I had the Tom Kha and Panang curry, both recommended. read more

I came by earlier today for the first time and the food was great!! My husband was craving mango sticky rice and I wanted a fried banana with ice cream. I found a place with both! We had dinner at home and were planning on just having dessert. But as soon as we saw the food we couldn't help it!! We ordered the Khao soy, pad thai, mango sticky rice and fried banana. The mango sticky rice is huge! Everything was great!! I think I found my new regular Thai restaurant! read more

May Thai Kitchen - Thanks for dinner! Vegetarian pad thai - Thai Near Me - Alameda, California

Excellent food and service. This restaurant is so good that every other restaurant pales in comparison. Presentation was beautiful (order the coconut soup and you'll see) and portions were generous. Good options for both vegetarians and carnivores The dishes were aromatic and the flavors were complex. Really nice surprise right on Park Street. We'll definitely be back! read more

The lemongrass chicken soup was incredible, I will definitely be returning for that. Bursting with flavor. Also some of the the best Chicken Satay I've ever had, with thick, juicy chicken and delicious peanut sauce. I've also tried the Panang Seafood dish, which was decent. Haven't given the noodles a fair shot yet. Good water. read more

Food was excellent and service was nice and prompt. They didn't check on us too much, which was okay because we were busy enjoying the delicious food. But they were responsive when needed. Place is clean and has a comfy cozy feel where pillows are provided. It's our new favorite spot in Alameda. read more

We've gotten both takeout and delivery from May Thai Kitchen. The first time we were wowed by the food and were excited that they had different items like Corn and Cheese Puffs and Mushroom Dumplings on the menu (yeah I love appetizers!). Then they had our usuals like Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Pad Krakow, etc. All were traditional and not overly salty, sweet, or oily. Then another time we ordered and it was noticeable that the quality and quantity went down...one of the dishes was prepared spicy when we noted mild and that was way too freaking hot. Still undeterred and hopeful they just had an off day, we ordered again, but the food wasn't the same and the ingredients didn't taste fresh (meat was dry and over cooked) and we didn't touch the leftovers. I really wanted to make this a go-to for us, but after trying them 3x and being disappointed more than once, I'm hesitant to order from here again. Hopefully others will have a much better experience! read more

Shout out for May Thai restaurant on Park Street in Alameda. We have been here now about 6 times and it is always excellent, fantastic food, attentive service, even the owner may come out to ask you how your meal is. Highly, highly recommended. read more

Ordered food to go. Pad see ew was tasty. Crab Rangoon was ok. Too much cream cheese, all artificial crab. Didn't love the green curry. read more

Ordered for pick up when I was craving some pad see ew. The portion was massive, enough for nearly three meals and came out fresh. I ordered it with both chicken and veggies, and medium heat, which was pretty spicy. Would definitely order again, especially if I'm planning to have leftovers to enjoy later. read more

FANTASTIC. Food was delicious. Recommend the lemongrass soup. Also service was wonderful.. which I can't say for most places nowadays. Our waitress was very friendly and went above and beyond. Like genuinely friendly which is so refreshing since usually I feel like at other restaurants the staff barely Acknowledges you. They have vegan/vegetarian options which is a huge plus!! And they can do large parties - there was a cute birthday celebration when we arrived. You can tell the people who run this place do it with love and hard work and it shows. Such a gem, will definitely return. Thank you so much read more

Suggested this place to my cousin for our hang out time since my bro, who has high standards for food suggested it for our mom's Mother's Day celebration. Couldn't make it so happy to have been able to make it today. Initially, wasn't too sure about this restaurant since didn't have as many reviews as other search results. Though I learned that they just opened couple months ago. So they're building up their reputation. Enjoyed the clean, modern feel including the flowers. Dishes' presentation were really appealing. Never got pork rhines with papaya salad or having it shaved in two different levels of fineness. That was a nice touch. Appreciated how flat noodles were not mushy nor hard. And green beans had their ends cut off so you know they're prepping the vegetables. Also, even at mild spice level, the food was spicy without tasting watered down. Portion sizes were good for price paid. Bathroom was clean and smelled nice. And waitress, I believe the owner, was very attentive and pleasant to speak with. Hope this business gets more popular soon. It deserves the attention! read more

If I were starting a Thai restaurant in Alameda, I'd be terrified by the number of strong contenders just on Park street, that I'd be competing with. Let me tell you, May Thai has nothing to worry about. Ambiance is lovely, staff is attentive, entrees are delicious and good god, the _portions._ Do yourself a favor and go in person. Their takeout portions are limited by the size of the containers, but we've never left without a healthy portion to enjoy the next day. Welcome to the island, May Thai. Please stick around. We were lured in by the super high Yelp rating. While I agree with others that the Pad See Ew was tasty and definitely worth ordering, we felt that the fried calamari was tough and chewy (no tentacles) , with a too sweet sauce and the mushroom dumplings were just ok, and a little strange with the addition of canned corn... We did like the sauce that they served with the dumplings, which had fresh ginger and green onions. Overall, I would say that they should have something like a 3.8-4 star rating... read more

I was actly divided between 3 stars and 4 stars but I'm going to give 4 because it's a small, local business who's starting out and I hope they work out their kinks. First, I was rly unhappy with the packaging. It was unfortunate but the sauce leaked everywhere. It had to be the box on the top resulting in sauce all over the bag, sauce INTO THE MANGO STICKY RICE, sauce on the car. As for the food, I would return as a local and want Thai food nearby. It's a reliable choice. But for the price, I just can't help but feel if I rly wanted really good Thai, there are other options. The spicy eggplant is good though the eggplant tastes a bit more burnt than I would like it to be. The pineapple fried rice is rly mushy and no raisins nor cashews, but I also didn't rly like the flavoring. I feel like I've had better, I would not order this again. The pad see ew and pad Thai are also just ok. Pad Thai also doesn't come with peanuts. But their shrimp is rly big and it was good! Tho I'm not sure what was the added on price, it was between $2-$3. I feel like I would've really liked the mango sticky rice but because the eggplant sauce leaked into it, I lost interest. But the unaffected parts was really good! read more

Yummy! Delicious. Surprised that I've passed this location many a times without stopping but I tried it on a whim and was very impressed. FYI, the reason the jasmine rice is blue is from an edible flower they use that gives it a natural blue color and makes the rice have an aromatic flavor that pairs really well with other dishes. Try it out! read more

I've always had great experiences here until today. I ordered Pad See Ew and calamari for takeout, but unfortunately, the food was extremely salty--almost like eating pure salt. This has never happened before. The vegetables weren't cut into bite-sized pieces, but that's a minor issue. The Pad See Ew was unusually wet and overly salty, making it hard to eat. I couldn't finish it and was really disappointed this time read more

May Thai, what can I say aside from; its good even if you don't come here in the month of May. Yum! Really enjoyed the food, both the pad Thai and Tom yum noodle soup. I love both those dishes and every place makes them so differently. The Tom Yum in particular was delightful. Easily my new favorite Thai restaurant in the East Bay. The renovations before opening brightened up and modernized the space. It is immaculate (like, I really would eat off the floor), and it smells heavenly. The women who took my takeout order were as gracious as hosts in a 5-star resort, and my food was simply perfect - spice-forward but not overpowering, every ingredient balanced and cooked to perfection, and not a trace of oiliness. This is going be be my go-to for Thai from now on, both dine-in and delivery. read more
