The BEST pumpkin curry I've ever had. The pumpkin was cooked to perfection and just melted in my mouth. Also, I appreciated that it was very well spiced like a true red curry base, not mild and bland. I also love that they do Thai Iced Tea/Coffee with coconut milk if you'd like. So yummy! Some other things that were 5 stars: cute and clean inside dining; beyond friendly and attentive staff; and overall calm and pleasant vibes. Will definitely be back! read more

Delicious food! The tofu eggplant was incredible. I really enjoyed the coconut soup. The food was delivered hot and on time!

I feel like we found a calm oasis, on a busy street and weekend evening, filled with savory dishes and friendly service. As soon as you walk in, you're surrounded by soothing colors on the walls and perfectly matched gold moulding (upscale without being pretentious) and thoughtfully appointed decor, like the inviting bench cushions. After being seated quickly, I scanned the QR code for the menu, while the owner came and delivered an "analog" menu for my mom (so glad the owner noticed and was thoughtful towards her). We enjoyed: - Thai Iced Tea w/Coconut Milk: OMG! Why isn't always served this way?? I love all things coconut, so I appreciated the creaminess of the coconut without the sugar rush of condensed milk that other restaurants typically use. And a paper umbrella & orchid to dress it up, too?! Well, this oasis visit has just turned into a vacation! - Thai Street Style Tom Yum Seafood Soup: We ordered this mild, and it was oh so yummy! The tang from the perfect blend of lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime leaves felt warm, soothing, and homey - not to mention the beautiful and fiery presentation. There was just enough seafood for the two of us, and I wasn't mad that I got to take some of the soup home to enjoy later. - Pad Kee Mao: So, this noodle dish is the one I ALWAYS order at any Thai restaurant. By comparing how this dish is prepared and presented, it helps me to gauge how memorable a restaurant will be to me. The fact that I rarely post reviews should be a pretty positive sign that May Thai has solidified a place in my mind and heart/tummy (we all know those are the same things, right?). The noodles were chewy, but not mushy. I could still pull them apart from each other (and if you've eaten this kind of noodle before, you know that's not always possible). The whole dish itself was not overly seasoned. There was a perfect balance between vegetables and meat (we had beef), and the thick tomato slices held their shape and skin (to me, this means the veggies were not overcooked or not cooked enough to add its flavor to the dish). Obviously, I thoroughly enjoyed it and get to have it for a meal for myself part two. (Hey - we ordered a LOT of food for just two people!) - Praram: I have had this dish, too, multiple times in different places. I never know if the veggies will be too soft or if the peanut sauce will be runny (and the two of these things together make for a very sad - and nasty - eating experience). But, last night, the veggies still had bite, without being crunchy, and the peanut sauce was rich and thick. The best part were the toasted whole peanuts! I made sure to eat them all. I can still taste the peanut sauce, as I'm writing this. Mmmm... - Mango with Sticky Rice: So, this is my last staple dish I will order at a Thai restaurant. What's a person to do, if you're already full from dinner? Well - you take it To Go! Later that night, I was ready for that sweet mango that melts in your mouth, accompanied by its best partners - sticky sweet rice and coconut cream - and I was NOT disappointed! Finding the mix of red bean/azuki beans with the sweet rice, only made my mouth even happier with the different textures and tastes. I am so glad that I made sure to bring this home. For me, no Thai dinner is complete without mango and sticky rice, and I went to bed content and very satisfied. So, if you're looking for a beautiful place for date night, or you just want to take the family out for a filling meal someone else can cook for you, then I would HIGHLY and HAPPILY recommend May Thai Restaurant to everyone! Maybe you'll even get to hear the owner humming and singing along to the mellow but catchy music in the background. To me, this is an even better sign that your food and your experience is being delivered by people who really enjoy what they're doing, know that what they are offering is special, and want to share it joyfully with others. I'm all down for that - and I hope to continue to see this place thrive and be here on my next visit to the Bay! read more

I've had my share of Thai food in the Bay Area and this is by far one of the better ones. I normally hate pad Thai because it's usually too sweet, but I saw a bunch of great pictures and curiosity got the better of me. I ordered pad Thai as my main course. I would have loved to upgrade it to shrimp, but that would have been another 4 bucks. I opted for no upgrade and stuck with the chicken. Chicken was dry, but that's expected. Now the noodles part was perfection in a box - I did takeout. Noodles were chewy, tangy, fresh, and cooked just right. It was still warm when we drove through alameda dinner traffic. The cabbage, bean sprouts and peanuts went really well with the dish. I took mouths full of noodles, but the box remained full because they packed it! For $13, I think that pad Thai could serve 3! What a deal! I ended up having a whole plate of leftovers. Of course, I also had to do dessert and I chose the mango sticky rice. Although it came in a small box, it was so so good! The rice was purple rice - not overly sweet rice with salty coconut sauce and tart mango. The flavors combined well. Each bite was divine. I was already quite full from the pad Thai and predicted that I'd have to eat a small portion of dessert, but I was wrong. I ended up finishing the mango sticky rice cuz it was so darn delicious. It reminded me of a Vietnamese dessert that my mom used to make and I couldn't put down the fork! Please come try this place. Do it for your stomach! read more

Absolutely loved it! Food 5* Service 5* Ambiance 5* We got the roti with peanut sauce & yellow curry. This is incredible, we loved it. The coconut lemongrass soup was so good. We got seafood but the soup would be amazing even without protein. The seafood was tasty and generous portions. Panaang beef curry with sticky rice. So so good, possibly beef short rib in it? It was tender and the curry was so so tasty. Pad see ew was so good too. Our new favorite Thai restaurant. read more

At first, Me and my wife was decided to cook Valentines dinner at home, however plan changed suddenly and have to eat outside. but we couldn't find any romantic restaurant without booking. So we decided to find a random restaurant in Alameda. We walked on the street and see this Thai restaurant. They have Valentines decorations (candle and flowers on every table) and looks quiet inside. That's what we are looking for. We don't like too crowd for Valentines dinner. We ordered Seafood Tom Yum soup , salmon curry and pineapple fried rice. Soup is amazing, it may be too sour to some people but we like it very much. Salmon overcooked a little bit, but the curry sauce is very delicious. We even mixed the curry sauce to our pineapple fried rice. Tasty There was two waitresses , both of them are very kind. when we asked for to go box. We said we just need one box. Because we was trying to put everything together. But She thought we didn't like one of the dish. She even offer to remake the dish for us. Very nice service!Definitely will go back next time read more

A new addition to Park! I think coming from the Bay there are lots of places for Thai and especially with presentation this place is affordable and welcoming for a family setting or to bring your guests out! I ordered more but could only grab this photo of the Pad See Ew but the other dishes that were great was the Panang Curry, Pumpkin Curry and the Larb. Good luck to you all on your business and I hope you get more customers and food traffic! read more

Moved nearby last month and was looking for local place that served nam khao (crispy rice salad). May Thai had it and it was quite good. plenty crispy and with good amount of flavor. I walked in to order and I simply said "spicy" the box had "HOT!" marked on it, and I am almost 100% sure this must be the spiciest level because it was indeed quite spicy, for comparison, easily more spicy than 2x spice instant fire noodle. but this is authentic for this dish, and I am glad the option for real spice is here. I also tried pad see ew, flavorful and the vegetables are tender and delicious, some places the broccoli and carrot seem barely cooked and is more for decoration, but I found myself enjoying it at this location. chicken skewer was also good, pretty standard in quality to other places, but I think many other places give you only 3 for the same price, while may thai gives you 4, so same tasty dish, but better value. The service was very friendly and polite when I went in to order, and the preparation was faster than I thought it would be, as well as the estimated time that it would be ready was spot on. I would come back again. read more

We love supporting local businesses (especially when it is walking distance from our company.) Dinner is always fantastic & full of flavors when we get together with some of the colleagues for delicious food & drinks. We were recommended by a colleague and so tonight, we had dinner here. Service: very attentive Food: finally one of the best well prepared Thai dishes like Tom yum Gung , seafood eggplant on sizzling platter , yellow curry for mild taste crab fried rice and fantastic mango black sticky rice as a happy ending. May Thai Kitchen did not disappoint! Truly 5-stars worthy on food ! Panang Beef was wonderful! Tender cubes of beef in Thai spicy curry sauce. Delicious. For $22 I did expect rice was a given and not an add on. So, ate dish sans riz. Ordered via GrubHub because parking is always a challenge. But maybe the extra cost isn't justifiable unless you are ordering more than one dish like me. read more

May Thai Kitchen - Only got a pic of the togo cause we ate all the rest soo quick - Thai Near Me - Alameda, California

I so regret not taking photos of the beautifully presented dishes, but we were just too hungry! The massive and delicious "Larb" salad (don't let the odd name deter you) came out with lovely orchids decorating the mound of ground chicken salad with a light and tangy dressing. The server brought us a complimentary plate of lettuce leaves so we could make wraps, and in all honesty that dish alone would've been filling enough! But no, we had also ordered the pad Thai with crisp chunks of lightly fried tofu (wonderful choice even for this meat-eater), and chicken noodle soup, which needless to say went home nearly in its entirety for the next day. We were fulllllll and the Pad Thai was excellent - I am very fussy about Thai food so this was worth finding street parking for! No need for a reservation on the weeknights, it seems, we just walked in and found a table. So happy we found this great place, and the young gal who served us was a native Thai speaker, so sweet and accommodating. Highly recommend. read more

Came in on a busy day. There was an issue with our appetizer where we ended up asking to leave early and not eat. We were pretty upset but then the owner came out and personally apologized and tried to rectify things. She insisted we take our meal for free (there was a long wait so we had gave up and wanted to leave). She insisted we take our main meal home for free with us and it was DELICIOUS. Honestly, the way the staff handled the original issue we had with our appetizer and wait time, said a lot about the owner and place. We had a negative experience initially but the way the staff listened to us and rectified the situation spoke a lot and made us want to return. The food also, that we went home with, was out of this world. Great food and great people. Everyone makes mistakes but they handled it like a pro! Speaks a lot about a place and shows they really care about customer service. read more

Our new favorite Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. The food is made with fresh ingredients, is authentic, very flavorful & beautifully presented. Our particular dishes had a little spice to them too. The interior of the restaurant is modern & cozy. The services was also wonderful. Our waitress guided us through the menu & was very kind. We highly enjoyed the sweet & spicy fish, yellow curry with chicken over brown rice. I only wish they had a beer on tap. read more

Kan was greeting and serving the customers at a great pace, she took care of us and provided excellent food from the kitchen. Ginger vegetable dish was amazing. Tons of fresh cur ginger and tender chicken! The pumpkin curry is a true delicacy here, large chunks of curry saturated pumpkin and a creamy pumpkin base as well. Lovely food, exceptional service, super nice staff - this tasty restaurant is a gem in downtown Alameda. Best Thai food in Alameda. The food is always fresh and the service is always great! The ambiance here is kid friendly and we love it.

The most disgusting Thai food I've ever had! We ordered pad thai, red curry, mushroom dumplings, pad ew sue, and two orders of rice. The pad Thai was essentially raw noodles. Way undercooked! We told them and they said they would bring out another one. Second portion was smaller and again raw noodles! The red curry was red water with food coloring! Almost no flavor! Disgusting and we couldn't eat it. The rice was a mushy mess and the mushroom dumpling was also undercooked with bland to no flavor. Such a horrible experience! I do not recommend this establishment. read more
