I got the Potato Leek soup which was incredible. The Potato Leek soup was a special and it looks like they have rotating soup specials. The Italian Submarine was my main dish and great. They also have really great coffee drinks, definitely check those out! The interior is really cute. I hope to return soon and try more specials. Super fresh, quality meals and a chef whose willing to chat ingredients and life with you. May Cafe is a hidden gem in downtown Milford with limited hours but a delicious menu. The main thing I can remember is how fresh everything was. The fruit was insanely flavorful, vibrant, and a huge portion! The potatoes were a hit and our kiddo especially loved the gigantic cookies waiting at the counter. They accommodated my husband's gluten free request and shared their distributor so we can buy a loaf on our own. May Cafe and Karolina are absolutely amazing. She and her staff are so kind. From her regular menu, I really enjoy the lattes, soups, and sandwiches. My husband and I love having a relaxing lunch there whenever we visit Cincinnati. What really stands out is her Polish food - if you ever see it on the rotating menu, definitely order it! My husband's family is Polish, and we love her kotlet mielony (meat patties), gołąbki (cabbage rolls), pierogies, surówki (salads), and chłodnik (cucumber soup). After checking out of the hotel and before heading to the airport, I thought I would explore the surrounding town and find a good local breakfast spot. Grabbed my Yelp! machine, plugged in my desires and WOOSH!, several choices popped up. After sifting through the pics, reviews and menus, I chose May's Café for good coffee and breakfast. It took me all about 10 minutes to get here and I found it along a little main street nestled in between artisan shops and galleries. The outside was quintessential "Downtown America" as you would expect from a Norman Rockwell painting and inside was very cute. To me, it is the American Dream wrapped up in a cute cafe. Having never been here, I asked one of the people there what they would recommend and away we went. After answering a couple of questions, I went for the #2 which is your standard American breakfast of eggs, bacon, wheat toast and fruit (other options included potatoes, sausage and white bread, but I'm trying to be good on a travel day which includes sitting on a plane for 6 hours...). Then it came and, I mean, just look at the picture. Amazing. I know what you're thinking, "But Greg, it's just a simple breakfast", but do you know how many times I order this and it is GAWDAWFUL?!? More than I care to admit. The eggs were cooked perfect, just as I ordered, and the fruit was sooooo good. Another area most places fall flat on their faces. Coming from an agricultural area and growing my own food in the backyard, you can say I'm kind of a snob when it comes to fresh fruit and veggies. Not one bad piece of fruit in the bowl. Another quiet little highlight was the dang tomato believe it or not. I hate tomatoes that taste like, well, nothing, so this was very enjoyable. Again, garden grown tomatoes from my backyard make me "that guy". Tomato had a sprinkle of salt, olive oil and a leaf of arugula. Ripe and delicious. I didn't even get to the coffee which was also delicious. Not a fan of Starbucks since I feel they slightly burn their beans to make the flavor consistent, but tastes bitter and burnt, this was very good coffee. If you're going to or coming from one of the many golf courses in the area, a city worker on a break or just perusing the downtown area, you NEED to stop by and have some great food and a great price. Staff is wonderful and helpful and I was lucky enough to be here on a day with 80 degree weather and a slight cool breeze which helped the turning leaves fall to the ground, letting us know autumn is right around the corner. Part of life is slowing down and appreciating things in our lives and experiences. I think you'll like this place as much as I do. read more

May Cafe is an absolute gem in downtown Milford. Adjacent parking can be tight, but you can often find a spot down a side street. The interior is tiny (maybe 6 tables tops) but in warm weather, they have seating on the front sidewalk and two different patios around the side and back of the building. You order at the counter before receiving a table number and selecting your seat. Drinks and food are delivered promptly (and there is also self-serve water if you prefer). The staff are always pleasant and cheerful in their interactions with guests. I love coming here for lunch and often get the "pick two" combo with half a chef or arugula salad and one of the tostinos. However, DO NOT overlook the daily specials. They make some killer sandwiches and salads with ultra seasonal ingredients! I probably order the salad of the day at least as frequently as I order off the standard menu. Sandwich bread, cheese and other ingredients taste fresh and well-balanced together. But I have to say the salads truly shine. Many restaurants just throw a piece of chicken and a couple cherry tomatoes on some greens and call it good; May Cafe goes the extra mile to build a satisfying salad, with multiple components that are balanced together. And they toss it in the dressing before it gets to you--a little bit of care that I love. While you can get your salad with chicken of course, I highly recommend the salmon instead. The seasoning on it is great and it is always perfectly cooked. Salads come with small pieces of bread and fruit which is a nice bonus as well. Oh, and they are a coffee shop too! So treat yourself to a cappuccino or an iced latte along with a tasty, fresh meal. read more

This is a cute little cafe which fits in just right for downtown Old Milford! They have a wonderful breakfast and lunch menu, and during the pandemic they have been doing Dinner Specials on Friday and Saturday. I really hope they continue to do these after this is all over! They also do daily specials, which you can find posted on Facebook or their wesbite. I came in the afternoon and utilized their nice walk up window, which is on the left side of the building. It is covered for protection from the elements. I decided to try the special soup of the day, cream of asparagus. I got the cup, when I should have gotten the bowl because it was fantastic. For my sandwich I went with the May special. The ingredients were so fresh from the focacia bread, to the tomato, fresh mozz, prosciutto, and artichokes. For dessert I had to try one of each of the daily specials lemon bar and pecan bar. They were both to die for! The food is made to order, so if you are in a hurry I recommend calling in your order ahead. There is free street parking or lot parking to the right of the building. We almost didn't eat here, but thankfully another popular place on Main St that doesn't (according to the man seating us) doesn't have a waiting room so in other words wait outside (and at that time it was 42 degrees wind chill factor 35 and rain/ sleet) and at least 20 minute wait. This cafe is absolutely delightful. At first I thought the Proportions were small, but at the end I was so full I started to struggle to finish my sandwich! I went with the #1 which was a $9 sandwich, but I would say I would buy it again. Pricey for a sandwich, but oh so tasty. I would gladly come back here again. The also offered lunch items, but I wanted breakfast since I hadn't had breakfast yet. The staff was very helpful and the outdoor seating was very nice. I've lived in Milford since 04 and have never eaten here. (Not sure how long they've been around) I've recently been checking out the menu and May Cafe has been on my summer bucket list. The owner is so super sweet. She explained the menu and was very patient. Such an adorable little place! Great menu- Sorta, kinda, maybe like a very small town Panara type place, if you will. I would have went with 4 stars but stuck with 3 because: 1. I felt like the wait may have been a bit long. To their defense, it was their lunch crowd and they do have very limited seating and staff. 2. I am soup obsessed! I mean obsessed! I order just about every where I go and love trying new soups........the mushroom bisque....not a fan. Because it literally tasted like pureed mushrooms. Just thick, pureed mushrooms. The atmosphere is small and cozy inside and relaxing and pleasant outside on the patio. The woman who took our order was polite. My friend and I each ordered the turkey, cheddar, apple sandwich, which was $11.75. Add tax and tip and it was over $15, for just a small turkey sandwich, with a small piece of cheese and a slice of gala apple on it. The plate had a thin slice of orange on it to help take up some space. Although the sandwich was tasty, we both thought it should have come with more fruit or a few potato chips. It seemed overpriced. I've eaten here a few other times years ago and enjoyed it. Maybe this was just the wrong thing to order. read more

The Milford area has scored another solid "mom & pop" restaurant. A friend and I enjoyed excellent food, reasonable prices and no pressure to leave even though they had a pretty good crowd. My goulash with potato pancakes was excellent and the right quantity too. We arrived at 11:45 and by noon on a Tuesday the tables were almost all filled. Food came in reasonable time and was hot. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a very casual place - - don't expect loads of ambiance. On the other hand, this is a CAFE and the food doesn't disappoint. Hi Foodies, My daughter and I found a gem on Main St in Milford. The May Cafe. Everything organic and very fresh. The employees were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the prosciutto, caprese, lettuce and tomato sandwich on a Brioche bun. Laura selected the Swissy on toasted buttered white bread, which consisted of ham and melted Swiss cheese. Both were exquisitely made, almost artful. The taste was so fresh and delicious. Following these tasty sandwiches, we had a well made Carmel macchiato and soy latte with whip and honey drizzle. Nearly all five stars on yelp so I had to check this place out! It was a perfect brunch choice. After consuming his bagel sandwich, my husband's exact words were "Fantastic." I loved my english muffin breakfast sandwich. They use excellent ingredients and prepare their food with skill. The egg was a little runny allowing for just a delicious flavor and texture on the sandwiches. They use great quality meats. The muffin and bagel were simple but the cheese, arugula and bacon were the highlights. I loved our hazelnut latte as well. Its a small place but right at 9am we were able to get a comfortable table and there was plenty of street parking. There are also some public lots close by. I look forward to trying lunch sandwiches at a future visit. Prices and portions are reasonable here as well. I saw the owner at the grocery store one day, hunting for the freshest ingredients she could find. It's one of my favorite places for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. I also love their outdoor patio when the weather cooperates. I just started ordering their Friday night takeout dinners and they are amazing! My favorite lunch order is the arugula salad topped with salmon, although they also have many other tempting options, and daily specials that are great too. Simple, delicious food. Simple, delicious coffee. May is a cute little café on the main drag in Milford, and honestly I don't have sky high expectations in that area. It turns out that their offerings are actually excellent. Every bite and sip was worth slowing down and enjoying. Between Kara and I, we ordered two pick-2 combos, an americano and a latté. The coffee came out first, and it was good. Nothing fancy. There are no gimmicky flavored lattés, and the one we got wasn't overly sweet or milky, just right. The americano was the same. Black, simple, smooth. Our food combos consisted of one; the May Special and chilled cucumber and radish soup and two; an il parma with mushroom vegetable soup. Both came with a slice of watermelon and a pickle on the side as well. The il Parma sandwich was, again, simple. Prosciutto, mozzarella and basil with olive oil on rustic bread. It was seasoned perfectly. Salty prosciutto but not offensive. The mushroom veggie soup was very nice. Nothing crazy, but simple and hearty. The May Special was basically the il Parma with greens, tomato and artichoke, which brightened the sandwich beautifully and balanced the sandwich away from salty. The chilled cucumber and radish soup was seasoned heavily with dill, and served as a nice light and refreshing pairing to the bread, meat and cheese. The special and the chilled soup was the better of the two combos to us, but it could go either way with taste and outside temperature. That's a lot of words to basically say that we were pleasantly surprised, well taken care of, and left extremely satisfied without the experience feeling forced or exaggerated in any way. More modern cuisine can feel a bit tryhard or stuffy. This is simple Italian food at a cute, chill, affordable spot that I hope to return to soon and often. read more
