#2 Breakfast
Greg V.

After checking out of the hotel and before heading to the airport, I thought I would explore the surrounding town and find a good local breakfast spot. Grabbed my Yelp! machine, plugged in my desires and WOOSH!, several choices popped up. After sifting through the pics, reviews and menus, I chose May's Café for good coffee and breakfast. It took me all about 10 minutes to get here and I found it along a little main street nestled in between artisan shops and galleries. The outside was quintessential "Downtown America" as you would expect from a Norman Rockwell painting and inside was very cute. To me, it is the American Dream wrapped up in a cute cafe. Having never been here, I asked one of the people there what they would recommend and away we went. After answering a couple of questions, I went for the #2 which is your standard American breakfast of eggs, bacon, wheat toast and fruit (other options included potatoes, sausage and white bread, but I'm trying to be good on a travel day which includes sitting on a plane for 6 hours...). Then it came and, I mean, just look at the picture. Amazing. I know what you're thinking, "But Greg, it's just a simple breakfast", but do you know how many times I order this and it is GAWDAWFUL?!? More than I care to admit. The eggs were cooked perfect, just as I ordered, and the fruit was sooooo good. Another area most places fall flat on their faces. Coming from an agricultural area and growing my own food in the backyard, you can say I'm kind of a snob when it comes to fresh fruit and veggies. Not one bad piece of fruit in the bowl. Another quiet little highlight was the dang tomato believe it or not. I hate tomatoes that taste like, well, nothing, so this was very enjoyable. Again, garden grown tomatoes from my backyard make me "that guy". Tomato had a sprinkle of salt, olive oil and a leaf of arugula. Ripe and delicious. I didn't even get to the coffee which was also delicious. Not a fan of Starbucks since I feel they slightly burn their beans to make the flavor consistent, but tastes bitter and burnt, this was very good coffee. If you're going to or coming from one of the many golf courses in the area, a city worker on a break or just perusing the downtown area, you NEED to stop by and have some great food and a great price. Staff is wonderful and helpful and I was lucky enough to be here on a day with 80 degree weather and a slight cool breeze which helped the turning leaves fall to the ground, letting us know autumn is right around the corner. Part of life is slowing down and appreciating things in our lives and experiences. I think you'll like this place as much as I do.

Rather small cute and quaint cafe, nestled on the Main Street strip in "downtown" Milford. This made for a nice place to pop in for brunch. The service was great and along with the food we selected. I'd definitely recommend giving them a go! You won't be disappointed.

Roast Beef sub

Two of us went for Friday lunch. It is small inside, but we got the last table. People there recommended the cabbage rolls special, so I got that. It was good and filling and came with mash potatoes. The second order was the roast beef sub special. It was good. Service was good. I took a chocolate chip cookie home, it was good.

This is a cute little cafe which fits in just right for downtown Old Milford! They have a wonderful breakfast and lunch menu, and during the pandemic they have been doing Dinner Specials on Friday and Saturday. I really hope they continue to do these after this is all over! They also do daily specials, which you can find posted on Facebook or their wesbite. I came in the afternoon and utilized their nice walk up window, which is on the left side of the building. It is covered for protection from the elements. I decided to try the special soup of the day, cream of asparagus. I got the cup, when I should have gotten the bowl because it was fantastic. For my sandwich I went with the May special. The ingredients were so fresh from the focacia bread, to the tomato, fresh mozz, prosciutto, and artichokes. For dessert I had to try one of each of the daily specials lemon bar and pecan bar. They were both to die for! The food is made to order, so if you are in a hurry I recommend calling in your order ahead. There is free street parking or lot parking to the right of the building. The staff here was friendly and in great spirits, as they were celebrating a birthday! I highly recommend checking these guys out! Cant wait to come back for breakfast and dinner!

We almost didn't eat here, but thankfully another popular place on Main St that doesn't (according to the man seating us) doesn't have a waiting room so in other words wait outside (and at that time it was 42 degrees wind chill factor 35 and rain/ sleet) and at least 20 minute wait. So we decided May's it was and I'm so THANKFUL we did!! It was AWESOME!! The walnut chocolate chip cookie was one of best! The walnut chicken salad sandwich was delightful and a little cafe environment versus the loud other place was much desired

This cafe is absolutely delightful. At first I thought the Proportions were small, but at the end I was so full I started to struggle to finish my sandwich! The flavor was immaculate, the bread was fresh, and so were the ingredients. And you can't beat the price! The coffee was also very good!! 12/10 would 100% eat here again.

Stopped in for breakfast, ordered a coffee and a sandwich and I have to say; this place is small and very clean. The coffee (mocha) was very yummy The sandwich was perfect. I went with the #1 which was a $9 sandwich, but I would say I would buy it again. Pricey for a sandwich, but oh so tasty. I would gladly come back here again. The also offered lunch items, but I wanted breakfast since I hadn't had breakfast yet. The staff was very helpful and the outdoor seating was very nice. I ended up even using the restaurant bathroom and it was very clean. I would highly recommend this place for coffee or a relaxing meal.

A lovely family owned restaurant in the heart of Milford. Great place to stop in after a long walk on the trail. Lots of outdoor seating behind the restaurant as well as side and in front of the restaurant. Both salads were hearty portions and delicious. Cups of water available at no charge.

Breakfast #1 focaccia with crispy prosciutto, fried eggs, arugula and feta!

Amazing place to pop in for breakfast! Order the #1, which was one of the best breakfast that I have had! Light and filling and delicious! Thank you!!

Terrific breakfast/brunch/lunch spot. The mozzarella/prosciutto sandwich "May Special" brought back memories of Rome! Great capuchinos!

Only thing is I wish they could make it gluten free. I got the Mira bowl in a kid size portion and had boiled eggs as an add on. Perfect portion! The bartender recommended the smaller size since I was getting waffles and I'm glad she made that suggestion. Lavender latte with oatmilk was light and delicate. Just what I was looking for. Nothing was too sweet and I enjoyed everything. The inside had a nice airy feel to it. They have a cute little kids corner filled with books and fun stuff for the little ones to stay busy while waiting on meals. They close at 3 so I recommend enjoying it for brunch/lunch!

Being visitor from VA Beach, I asked what's the recommended dish, the server suggested omelette. But I wasn't in the mood for omelette so I saw shakshuka. I tried their Green Goddess version that has spinach (instead of tomato sauce) and feta. The food is a solid 3. I also ordered the Dubai Chocolate latte. It was a 3 as you taste more the milk than the chocolate syrup. I also got their chocolate chip banana bread.
