Came here for their Sunday Jazz brunch, and it was as pleasant as always. The live music on Sunday's is fantastic, and takes Sunday brunch up a notch. The Creole-style food is great, and you get a fun, complementary jar of house-cured boar bacon upon ordering. I ordered the Eggs Bayou, which is a play on the classic eggs Benedict that featured andouille sausage instead of Canadian bacon, and it was delicious. I wasn't able to have the salad on the side due to my nut allergy, and they wouldn't swap it for something else that I could eat instead so I was a little disappointed in that. My companion got The Satchmo omelette, and was very pleased with its large portion size. We also ordered a side of sweet potato fries, but the potion was so small that I recommend getting one for each person instead of sharing. All in all, really nice experience with just a few minor hiccups, none of which would deter me from coming back. read more

I'm perplexed by this place. I've been here many times - upstairs, downstairs, etc. It's a dive, that has a majority of dinner menu items in the mid to high 20s. A 14 dollar burger? A 4 dollar side of fries. So are they going for dive or fine dining? The place needs a cleaning. I agree with a few of the other reviews - the place is dirty. They have a huge selection of beer and the vibe reminds me of monks, or similar, in center city. They could really benefit from crafting a less expensive menu around the beer they serve. Smaller portions, cheaper prices. Who goes to moms to order a 29 dollar pork chop, honestly? Huge potential here, it's a great spot. The kale salad and fish tacos we got were really good. The chef has talent, but the menu needs to be reworked. Also, the free starter pita and hummus is not good. I would stop serving it. read more

Like it when your bartender pretends you're invisible and takes 10-15 minutes to finally ask if you'd like another beer, even though you've been waiving your arms like you're notifying a rescue plane that you're there at the bar with an empty glass? Then Maxwell's on Main is the place for you! In addition to lousy service, expect mediocre food, high prices, and a single, unisex rest room. I'm sure that will be a big hit with the ladies. Nothing better than seeing urine splashed all over the toilet seat after some beer slob has been in there, right gals? Ownership needs to get their heads out of their collective asses and get with the program. A single rest room won't cut it. Neither will a rude bar staff. It's nice to have a decent beer selection, but your markup is ridiculous, boys. Are you trying to pay the place off in your first year? Charge realistic beer prices. It doesn't taste better if I pay more. Treat your customers as you would like to be treated. Spend less time chatting with your friends at the bar and pay more attention to empty beer glasses. This is supposed to be work, remember? You have a potential gold mine here, and you're blowing it. You're somewhat successful because choices in the area are limited, not because you're doing it right. read more

We went for the Bills game today (upstairs is a Bills bar!) and had fun, with the notable exception of poor customer service. The bartenders were often absent or chatting with patrons so long that they neglected empty drinks. I also accidentally ordered the wrong beer and had no recourse other than to... order another beer (I made my husband drink the first one). I then promptly knocked over my replacement, so I ended paying $15 for 2 beers I didn't drink. Yeah, I get that it was my fault, but I've honestly never been to a bar that won't offer you a replacement if your drink is spilled (unless you're trashed). It would have been nice to get that little bit of good will, which I think a bartender who was more on the ball would have done. We ordered plenty of other food and drink too, so leaving the spilled drink on the bill left a sour taste in my mouth. Anyway, food and drinks are really good. Have been a res of Doylestown for a while now, decided to try MOM's while in the immediate area for an appointment. Beer and cheese soup was very nice. Flatbreads okay, dough might do well to be a bit thinner. What really is mind-blowing? To charge $11 for a mediocre glass of Riesling at lunch. A decent restaurant in Manhattan doesn't charge this much for a glass of wine at dinner! I'm glad to pay for great food and drink, but this is pretty outrageous. For one bowl of soup, two flatbreads, one glass of wine and one soft drink, we paid ~$60 with tip. Can't say I'll be quick to return. read more

If you're from out of town and perhaps there for a wedding, Run Don't Walk Away. Went there to have some cocktails and appetizers the day before a wedding and staff were curt and ignored us during a fairly slow period, so we left. The next evening about 40 of us headed there for some post wedding celebrating. They wouldn't let the 31 year old bride ,who was still in her dress, in because she didn't have her ID on her. They also wouldn't let in her 35 year old cousin who's a deputy sheriff for the same reason. That would be fine except they weren't proofing everyone because my husband and I weren't proofed. We paid like $20 for two vodka & tonics and left a $2 tip. The tonic was so bad we couldn't drink it, so my husband returned them and again a dismissive response. The guy finally agreed to give us vodka and club which were fine. As we were leaving we saw them refusing to let in the bride, so we told everyone else to leave as well. They lost business, but clearly they don't care. Just be transparent and put a sign on the door that says, Locals Only! This way no one's time is wasted. Plenty of other nice places in town no need to go where you're not wanted. read more

We sat at the bar and the bartender was super sweet and the service was speedy. We had the poached pear salad with goat cheese and prosciutto. It was pretty good until I realized there was no goat cheese. We told the bartender and she checked with the kitchen. She said it was already mixed in which it wasn't. Not even a hint of dissolved goat cheese. No dice. American Cheese Burger- a pretty decent burger on an awesome roll. Luckily, I don't care for lettuce/tomato/onion because there was a skimpy, muted pile of something they we pushed off. This restaurant will do well because of the location but I have a feeling the kitchen still resembles that gross maxwells kitchen from years ago. read more

The staff were very attentive and very nice. Prices were a very high for the type of food - the sides were $5 each! I'm sorry but if I'm paying $5 for 1/2 cup of mac n cheese it better be really good mac and cheese and $5 mashed potatoes better be lined with gold or something (though there is an option for truffle mashed potatoes).... My $12 burger and my $5 mac and cheese added up to a meal i will never be getting again. It was tasty and well prepared but just the cost of such average menu items makes me cringe. -Side note: bad parking situation.... come prepared to walk. The heart of Doylestown as a whole has parking issues. Food: C+ (it was good. Somewhat of a small menu but It was good. The mini corn dogs were tasty. My husband had the jambalaya which he said was very bland and uninteresting. (Tomato sauce with rice topped with andouille sausage and shrimp... zero spice) and I had the cheese burger which was cooked to my liking. Mac and cheese was better than average) Beer: B+ (though its no Iron Abbey, this place has a decent selection when it comes to bottled craft brews -along with the traditional Americans on tap as well. Could use more craft on tap though since they advertise as being a good craft brew place) Service: A+ (VERY attentive waiter who was not overly attentive. He magically appeared when we needed him like he had a sixth sense. it was very nice) Atmosphere: C (eh....it was excessively loud thanks to the layout/architecture and the table we got was wobbly. The chair I was sitting in felt like it was about to fall apart when I scooted closer to the table. Has more than one floor which I thought was interesting.) This place is making money like crazy, I'm happy for them, but they wont be getting our cash again. OK place to eat, we would go back for drinks and snacks if the menu wasn't so harsh on the wallet and parking was better. This is one of the most over expensive, overrated places in Doylestown. The service is terrible while the servers ignore the table completely. An order of fries alone took twenty minutes. When you wait forever and a half the food isn't even that great. The menu is tiny also. I will give the restaurant the fact it is beautiful on the inside but looks can be deceiving. read more

It was my birthday in October and my boyfriend and I decided to go splurge and explore doylestown a little! It was a Monday night and the place we were planning in going to was closed so while we were walking back to the car I noticed this little gem on the corner. Seriously best meal I've had in forever! He savored a bunch of different craft brews while I sipped on wine all night. We started with the crab cake app which was as good as a jersey girl can expect. Jumbo lump and with a yummy slightly spicy slaw on the side. He got fried chicken for his main course which having worked at Cracker Barrel he knew how fresh and homemade chicken should taste. He couldn't eat it fast enough! I had the maple glazed pork belly which was heaven on earth! It was served over cheddar jalapeño mashed with crispy onion straws on top. OMG! It was literally the best thing ever. I seriously have dreams about it. We asked our server a recommendation on dessert and she said she liked this chocolate lava cake thing. On a day trip to Doylestown, my husband and I were wandering around in the adorable downtown area and came across Maxwell's on Main and decided to have lunch. The staff was incredibly friendly, the space is comfortable and the food was delicious. I absolutely recommend the slow cooked pork quesadilla's - they may be appetizers, but can definitely work as a full meal. They were simply divine. read more

My girlfriend and I had dinner there last night. This may have been the worst expensive dinner that we have had in a while. We asked for bread and of course they had No Bread with this aweful food. Yet they provided bread plates. ?????We tried the tasteless halibut and tasteless scallops. We were then presented with the $90.08 bill and left with indigestion. Solid local bar with a large craft beer selection, pretty good food, and an ambiance for whatever you're looking for. It's located in the heart of downtown Doylestown and you'd think it's a small restaurant/bar. When you walk in, there's a narrow bar in front of you, a larger, separate dining area to the left, and then some additional high-tops back behind the bar. The front bar is usually pretty packed, but it's easy to do so because it's extremely tight in that area - with people sitting on the stools and standing at the wall, there's barely enough room for you to walk by. However, there's an extremely large upstairs that's open, with a huge bar and some tables. Typically, that's where the music is played and gets a bit rowdy compared to the downstairs, more family-friendly type of atmosphere. I've been to MOMs a bunch and it's probably one of my go-to spots in Doylestown (can't say favorite because I haven't been to that many). Their craft beer selection is fantastic and I believe it changes fairly regularly/seasonally. The service is normal - pretty standard for a bar of their size and capacity - just stand politely at the bar and someone will serve you soon. Their farmer flatbread is pretty tasty. I wish they had more veggie flatbread options, but this one is a unique combination with goat cheese, mushrooms and onions. It didn't have much sauce, but surprisingly wasn't too dry (maybe because I was also drinking some beer with it). I also got their fries with a side of honey mustard, and they' you're standard crispy french fries. Overall, a solid place, and a place I'll continue to go to when I'm in the area. Keep up the quality and consistency, and you'll have repeat customers. read more

I really love MOM's... every time we go there, we end up saying "why don't we come here more?" .. but alas, we have a toddler.. The service is amazing. The food is amazing. They have a great beer list. If wine is your thing, only $15 corkage charge to BYO (if your husband is a wine nerd like mine, he is too good for anything they offer ;-) My favorite dishes: Fried Chicken, Stuffed Meatloaf, Scallops, and Jumbalaya. Last night we were there and they had 2 great food specials: Seabass and Monk fish. Both awesome. I highly recommend this place! :-) read more

Doylestown has a lot of bar and restaurant options but service and charm really set this place apart, and I've been waiting years for a place like M.O.M.'s. My first impression is that of the space itself: it's cozy and hip, a cool bar, nice little touches of red and other warm tones and a back area where local musicians are featured on a weekly basis. The staff has always been super friendly and the bartenders are knowledgeable about the great craft beer list. The owners are two hard-working, friendly and down-to-earth brothers who actually used to own a bar/restaurant in NYC that I used to frequent. I figured out that connection one of the first times I met them and I'll admit that it cemented my love for this place. Athough I live in Philadelphia, M.O.M.'s is the first place I head with one, or several of my three brothers, to catch up and spend some quality family time. We are always warmly welcomed and as the place has grown in popularity, it's a guarantee we wll bump into other familiar faces. The food has a nice southern flair and while I haven't spent much time trying out the menu, the burgers are juicy and well prepared and the mini corn dogs are great comfort food. It's been a couple months since I was last there and I know they are in the midst of rennovating the upstairs and back deck. I'm looking forward to seeing their improvements and I can only imagine it will gain them even greater regular clientele. Lastly, I love their jukebox and what I love even more is that they always appease my tipsy requests to turn the music up louder...and louder. Doesn't get better than that! 4 dollar craft beers on Wednesdays are reason enough to go to MoMs. Their flatbreads however are disappointing. Had the windy city and it was not much better than frozen pizza. Need to try other menu items before I give up on the food. The downstairs bar is relaxed and with the doors open it has a very nice feel. read more

Wow! Really fantastic! I love an American place that isn't afraid to serve spicy food. Nachos? Different, interesting, white-bean-loaded and piled with jalapeño. CHECK! Jambalaya - crawfish and andouille and a slow burn of pepper. CHECK! Fried chicken was great, fried pickles were great, everything. Biggest beer selection I have seen in a long, long time. Recently had the a goat cheese flatbread at MOMs and it was outstanding. Everything was well balanced and the portions were the right size. I haven't been here in about 10 or more years, so it was great to see the new layout and fantastic beer selection. Great spot in the heart of Doylestown. It can be tough to pick a restaurant there because there are a ton of options, but M.O.M.'s is always a go to for me. They have great fried pickles and a decent beer list. I would recommend a beer infused margarita if you get the chance, they are much better than the typical coronarita. I also suggest their brunch where they provide you with a complementary mason jar full of bacon!!! Also the service was great. We must have had about half the staff stop by to see if we needed anything. Beware though, this is not a sandwich and fries type of bar! read more

This was our first visit it won't be our last! We made some excellent choices crab cake appetizer is a winner. The eggs bayou was wonderful with the andouille, perfectly cooked eggs and nice salad accompaniment. This place is very over priced, probably because of the location and to keep a certain group of clientele. The atmosphere and music choice is solid, and I must say the bartenders are very friendly and always make sure I have a drink in my hand. Burger night every Thursday night is a plus. read more

Their beer selection is usually pretty unique as well and it makes it interesting to try new brews and flavors. Cool atmosphere and good service. This place seems to be popular with the hipster crowd at night. (Not even sure what that means but if that's you, then you'll probably like that too.) When MOMs first opened, it was really great. Unique fresh taste, nice soups and salads. The last 2 times I have been there, the food has not been anything remarkable. Last night, we went there for dinner. The first thing I noticed was that there was a nice coating of leftover lipstick on a water glass that the waitress was about to fill with water. The front windows and entrance windows were filthy. There were 2 small pieces of hair on the tablecloth. Yuck! General impression of eating area was dirty. Got the menu and nothing new or exciting. The owner came out to talk to the young hostess girls. He was more interested in chatting with them than finding out how the restaurant was taking care of customers and our opinion of the food. Clearly, he just doesn't care. He must have noticed how dirty the windows were, and hostesses sprayed and cleaned windows right near our tables while we were eating. Not their fault since owner told them to do it. That's the end of us eating at MOMs. read more

I have been here twice for Sunday brunch and both experiences were good. First of all this restaurant is in lovely Doylestown, which I love to visit, and there is ample free parking on the weekends. The first time we came we sat outside on the upstairs patio, which overlooked a parking lot so it was not too picturesque, but it was very quiet and relaxed which we appreciated. The second time we opted to sit inside on the first floor because the second floor was very loud with football fans screaming at the TV. The ambiance both times was great, but I preferred the inside experience just because the restaurant is so cute inside. The food and drinks were good on both visits. The first time we shared the fried pickles for an appetizer and the shrimp and grits for an entrée. Both were good, nothing amazing but consistently good and worth the price. The second time we opted for the pulled pork and pimento quesadilla. It was pretty good but I could have definitely used more pimento. For an entrée I got the French toast and it was so good. It was very ordinary, no special topping or anything, but it was cooked perfectly and just really yummy. My husband got the fried chicken sandwich (Nashville style) which was very spicy and he loved it. He got a side of cheddar grits with his entrée and they were okay, could have been a little more cheddar-y. For drinks, I got a bloody mary on both visits and it was good both times. The bloody mary here is a little spicy for me (or I should say for my stomach...taste wise I love it), but I will take it over not drinking a bloody mary. My husband got a few cocktails and said they were all okay but he particularly loved one, I cannot remember the name but it tasted more tropical and came in a Tiki cup. The service was great here both times, we never felt ignored which has been a huge problem at a lot of other restaurants we have been to recently. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant as a brunch destination and will probably be back especially for some more of the delicious french toast! read more

Post pandemic review: avoid!!!! I sat in a booth, the dust was so bad on the corner of the table and side woodwork. The dirtiness was a sign to leave but stupidly, I stayed, for the worst fried chicken of my life. Southern, not on your life-- it's insulting to real southern chefs. Not only was it dirty but the food horrible and overpriced for a bar. The "cherry" was went a bug went down my shirt, not sure where it came from. Regretfully, I read the Bucks L&I report after my visit. I miss B Maxwells. read more

I just finished a sub-par meal at Moms. Very disappointed. The place was packed and I had an inkling that the dinner experience was not going to be a good one as no one had food in front of them. 50 min. Later a grizzle ridden Prime Rib steak came out and a chicken dish with a piece of bird the size of my 2 thumbs together. A $57 dinner. Needless to say, we left starving. Not a good dinner service. The quality of food was not good and lastly, please clean the layer of slippery slime off the table tops. read more
