Maize is a wonderful and special restaurant that is so worth seeking out. We visited for the first time on a Saturday evening in late March. Service was friendly, professional, and attentive. The dining room was warm and comfortable. And the food? We loved the succession of bites and plates. Everything was delicious and nicely presented. The chef and his team are focused on and really care about the details. In terms of the overall experience, Maize was at least as good as fancy, super-pricey Philly restaurants like Lark. We returned to Maize on October 10, 2025 for the early seating (530pm) four-course tasting again. It was another outstanding dining experience. The evening started perfectly with their signature homemade biscuit, followed by the chive popcorn. For the courses, we enjoyed a prawn, then a rich and tender beef cheek with Brussels sprouts, a beautifully cooked dayboat halibut, and finally duck. We ended on a sweet note with a refreshing sorbet and then a warm apple cake paired with homemade cinnamon ice cream. If you noticed, its more than 4 courses with a few kitchen additions! Every dish was delicious and expertly prepared. The Maize staff once again worked seamlessly in tandem, serving each course at just the right pace -- never rushed, never slow. We've probably dined here close to a dozen times over the years. Each visit has had exceptional food, courteous service, and a great vibe. From start to finish we spent 2 hours at Maize. Absolutely exceptionally fabulous service. In this restaurant, you definitely make reservations and let them know you were food restrictions in advance. One of my friends couldn't eat red meat. So the restaurant accommodated her. You just sit and chat with your friends the chef surprises you with something wonderful that he made . It was fun and it was so exciting . It's like you kept being delivered a little precious nourishing gift ! For example, the soup was delivered in such an adorable pottery piece. Each piece of dishware was like art, and it was such a wonderfully cooked food item . So flavorful and so amazing. I loved everything so much. It's hard to pick a favorite! I'm gonna say that the salmon was so fantastic and one of the other items had kombucha pumpkin with some sort of maple sauce and it was so magnificent and delightful. We went here for our anniversary. I was unaware of the restaurant's size and concept. It is a smaller establishment which we enjoyed thoroughly. A nice personal romantic culinary experience. This restaurant hands down is one of the most imaginative and culinarily superb meals I have had in a long time . Kudos to the team behind the glass wall that you get to watch prepare your meal in the small 2 seatings a night gem . Chef prepares a 4 course tasting menu that differs depending on local availability of ingredients . The meal started with a few amuse bouches that wet the appetite but the stars of the meal unfolded in the next 4 courses . On the night we were there we had gorgeous shrimp and grits , perfectly cooked steak over a melange of vegs that were sautéed and some were purée to make a fantastic accompaniment to the rare meat . Desert was a polenta tea cake with lemon ice cream and whipping cream all sitting in a wonderful cream sauce . Ive simplified the menu but it was so much more nuanced with flavors and spices . I can't say loud enough that getting reservation to Maize is like getting a golden ticket . Took a friend to Maize to celebrate her birthday. It was pure perfection. This is a foodie's dream restaurant. Chef Matthew knows food and delivers. All fresh and all local. All made in house. The waitstaff loves to talk food and the meal with you. We started with an oxtail ravioli and it was amazing, it was served with local wild mushrooms that were foraged nearby. Next we had fresh swordfish, caught that morning. Cooked perfectly. Lastly we had warm gingerbread cake made with real ginger. So delicious for a holiday dessert. To say you can taste the love in his food would be an understatement! I've visited Maize now countless times with my husband and numerous family and friends, and we can truly say this is one of our most favorite restaurants! Nothing else compares to the experience, from the fresh and local ingredients, to the friendly and attentive staff, to the most delicious and creative dishes. Our favorite part is not having to decide what to order since there isn't a menu, and the chef prepares creative dishes based on what's fresh and in-season/local. After hearing people rave about this restaurant, we decided to book a reservation sight unseen! We got lucky and we're able to book a table for two on a Friday night after a cancellation. The place is super small and quaint with a full view of the kitchen. Personally, we really appreciated this since it adds to the "farm to table" experience. The chef was right there cooking each dish. It's BYOB which is always a plus. The menu is fixed so if you have no food allergies, restrictions, and are a bit more adventurous it'll be right up your alley. Personally, I don't mind since sometimes choosing from the menu can be a daunting experience. Either way, you will not be disappointed! Each dish was carefully crafted and full of flavor. This restaurant is truly unparalleled and there's nothing like it when it comes to food and service unless you're willing to head all the way in to Phildelphia. It's also BYOB so you're not going to be wasting a lot of money on the drinks. Every dish is made to order and all dietary restrictions are no problem. This is a great place to go for an anniversary celebration, a date or to treat yourself and loved ones. Food and experience are always the best, or at least an interesting dish even if it's not your taste. Staff is friendly and it's a special treat to come here. It does break the wallet so we reserve for very special occasions. Tasting menu consists of 8 small plate courses so you truly get to sample a whole bunch of fine cuisine dishes throughout a 2.5+ hour leisurely meal. In addition, there are biscuits to start the meal and an extra sweet dessert with your check. $9 for a decaf cappuccino is a little ridiculous, but you are paying for the experience and it was delicious. It's clear that the intention is to talk and not feel rushed but truly savor each small bite. Seems like they only host one seating per evening. Meals can take hours but you'll leave feeling like you just experienced something special. It can get loud, as it did for us last night, due to rude and obnoxious guests, since the place is small. It's not the restaurant's fault of course, but they could make more of an effort to let people know their voices are traveling and may be disturbing other patrons. I don't even know where to start. We saw all the excellent reviews and enjoy tasting menus. We made our reservation and read that it will take 2-2 1/2 hours. We arrived and the place was packed and LOUD. I asked our server the different between the $50 and $70 tasting menu and she said the upgrade meats. She mentioned that people who upgraded had been getting blue crab and steak. I told her that's what we wanted!! We waited and waited and finally 35 mins after we were seated, we were finally given a biscuit and a very small tasting of popcorn to share. A party who had just arrived and sat down and received their popcorn and biscuits immediately. I was a little irritated but I didn't want to let it ruin our dinner. Another 30 mins later we had already finished our wine - we had already been there an hour. Our first course finally came. It was a crab salad with micro greens. Crab tasted fresh but the whole thing was very bland. Not much flavor. We are still very hungry at this point.. It took an hour from the crab salad before we got our 2nd course. The party who arrived 1/2 an hour after us had already had 5 plates brought to their table. I believe because they ordered from the menu they got all of their food very quickly. They were being catered to very attentively as we sat there... hungry... A table of 4 that was there before us got up and left after their first course because of how long it was taking. At this point we have been there 1hr 45 mins and we're just receiving our second course- blackened fluke. This was another bland dish. I couldn't wait for my steak. The restaurant finally quieted down and we were happy that we'd finally get our food. 20-25 mins later we see the waitress walked by with 2 steaks. She walked right past us and gave it to a different table. Then she arrived with our 3rd course. We got squab and figs. Are you freaking kidding me? We get pigeon?? What happened to this steak?? I'm hoping it's delicious but neither me or my fiancé liked it but we ate a few sliced pieces and continued on.. 4th course was a mini salad with beets, toast, blue cheese, and bread. This was actually very tasty and flavorful. We were asked if we wanted tea or coffee and we asked for coffee. 5th course was dessert- we enjoyed that as well. But still didn't receive any coffee. When I was on my last bite - the waiter told me he forgot about the coffee and brought it to our table. Didn't really feel like coffee after we had finished dessert. Our whole experience kept us there almost 3 hours and we ended up leaving hungry. They had overbooked themselves and made for a very bad first impression. When you have customers leaving because the food is taking too long you can't laugh it off and say "it's a 2 1/2 hour experience" when your served your 2nd course 2 hours later. Courses should be spaced out appropriately and if you're going to keep people waiting, make sure the food is excellent! At $70 a person for the "upgraded" meal it truly was not worth it. Party of 6. Meal consisted of a biscuit, small cup of popcorn, tiny serving of swordfish, small serving of duck which was rubbery and not edible, a small cranberry cake dessert. The meal is extremely overpriced. $75 a person. Paid $190 for my wife and me with tax and tip. portions are bitesize and are lost on the plate. The meal was not worth half that price. We were one of only 2 couples in the restaurant that evening. The "experience" begins before you arrive, as we were contacted by the restaurant the afternoon of our dinner reservation. They inquired if there were any food allergies in our party and if there were any particular dislikes or aversions. In our case there were none, and I happily informed them we are both adventurous in our tastes and looking forward to a memorable experience! They did not disappoint! The food and service were impeccable, as 4 people prepared each course and together painstakingly plated each. The course was then brought to our table and "presented" to us by our server Don, who explained each dish and happily answered any questions. Each of the 8 courses were uniquely prepared, unusual, and delicious. Being a "tasting menu", each individual dish is small, but we were pleasantly full when finished. Reservations a must (generally 2 seatings - 5pm and 8pm) This was our second time at Maize, and it was almost as good as the first time (to be fair, last time our reservation was delayed by an hour due to a table from the first seating refusing to leave....which ended up in a few extra courses from the kitchen to make up for it once we were finally seated, no complaints about that!). We have only ever done the 5 course chef's tasting, because at $50 why wouldn't you? The kitchen will accommodate any allergies or food preferences- for example asked if we were ok with meat/fish served rare/seared. Here's the rundown, though the menu changes based on local ingredients and the chef's discretion: Seasoned popcorn to start (it's called Maize after all) Buttery, steaming hot, fluffy biscuits served with honeycomb 1st course: crab cake with seafood risotto and shellfish sauce. OMG. Favorite dish of the night, best crab cake I've ever eaten. 2nd course: seared tuna with fingerling potatoes, green beans, pesto, kalamata olive. Interesting flavor, nice mix of textures with a vinegar zing, reminded me of German potato salad...topped with perfectly cooked tuna. 3rd course: teres major with celery root puree. I have yet to have a fish/meat not cooked to perfection at Maize, and this was no exception. We all enjoyed the puree...the taste was something new and it was silky smooth, something different for most of us. 4th course: pear salad with aged blue cheese and candied walnut. Good, but kind of a let down after the 3 warm courses....wish this was 1st course instead. 5th course: warm hazelnut cake with ice cream and pistacio. The current 3 course tasting menu changes daily and ours included a meat course, seafood course and desert. There are 2 seatings each night, so there is plenty of time to relax and linger over each dish as it is presented to your table. It's a cozy place but not crowded and only seats about 25 people. It's Fairly priced and since it's BYOB, you can enjoy a great meal without breaking the bank. I would give this place 6 stars if I could! read more

Honestly I wouldn't have written this if dessert was something cooked. The food was mediocre for Bucks County. Everyone saying there's only food this good in the "city"- which city? My main issue is that dessert was a cut up peach. For a three course 70$ meal, I expected something cooked or baked or elevated. Not a raw peach with blueberries, blueberry sauce, and the same vanilla sauce that was on the main course (shrimp). It took 30-45 min to come out and the wait staff couldn't even give anyone a fork. The entire dining room was clinking around a spoon to try and pick up a slice. It allegedly soaked in champagne, but I couldn't find it. read more

My husband I had dinner at Maize last Friday. Despite living in Perkasie for 8 years, this was our first time here. It was one of the most amazing dining experiences I've ever had. The menu is incredible and I implore you to be open to things you've never tried before. They create the most incredible dishes using unique flavors and local ingredients.
