Love the way Li does my nails! I have tried many salons and different techs but she by far is the best. She is thorough and detail oriented and does a great job every time. My nails stay nice for almost a month. I have been coming here for more than a year now and usually get a dip powder manicure and regular pedicure. I had a great experience here. The tools are sanitized and in sealed packages they open in front of you. All lotions and scrubs are pre-portioned so they don't touch or dip into shared jars. I went with my mom to get a pedi. It was a decent pedi, but me and my mom chose the same pedi and they were doing different things to us. Also the pedi was over in like 15 min. Also the man who did my moms full set, I'm guessing the manager because he was next to the register, was kind of rude when my mon let him know the tip was not glued on all the way. I went to Maxwell after reading Yelp reviews, and it did not disappoint. Mind you, this was on Sat. Dec 23rd, right before Christmas. I called in the morning to see if the had availability (a lot of other places were booked), and they said they could fit me in whenever. That immediately made me skeptical, as to why they had so much availability, but I went anyway. I arrived at 12 noon and was immediately greeted, told to pick colors and then they had a spot open. John did my spa pedicure (which was miraculous) and didn't even talk about my horrible cuticles. I have literally been pestered about my cuticles at other salons because they are such poor repair. He didn't say a word about them, and made polite small talk, but not enough to make an introvert like me uncomfortable. Then I had Pink & White's put on. John did those as well, and holy wow!!!!! These are the best Pink & White's I've ever gotten. John made sure they were the length and shape I wanted, constantly checking in with me. He also asked if I wanted light or dark pink and showed me both colors. He compared each hand consistently to make sure all the lengths were identical and altered as needed. He took his time and did amazing work-- telling me that he really wanted to make my nails as beautiful as I was. I was flattered. All of this took less than 2 hours (my street parking didn't run out), and I have quality nails. For the price, this is the best I've gotten! Seriously, you should check them out!!! NOTE: Tips are cash only, and they only take Visa or Mastercard for CC payments. they also have an ATM in the building as well. As a side note, everything was clean, spotless, well sanitized, and even decorated for the holidays. The manager even made sure to introduce me to my nail tech upon arrival and ask how things were going periodically. I went here with my boyfriend. I had to say it was very unorganized. I ask for fake gel nails. And she just stared putting it on my actual nail. I wanted to leave because it was just most of my day was wasted. We both got a our feet and hands done. I didn't want any color on my feet.. but she keep asking me to put color on my nails when I told her I wante clear... which was rude and unprofessional. She charged my boyfriend 40 for his nails but 75 for mine plus tip for each.. they had no towels in the bathroom and it was in the room with the washer and dryer... we spent so much there and both regretted it. We didn't even get the spa version.. lucky we didn't. I would never come here again. Also felt really rip off if both are nails are already damage and it only been a week.. sad. read more

As a last minute outing with a cowork on a cold Friday night, we were looking to pamper ourselves and unwind after a trying week at work. Thus we found ourselves here getting pedicures and finally relaxing! The pedi's were good and they had a great color range for normal polish and a large selection of OPI and Essie if you love those brands like I do. They did a good job shaping my nails and applying the color, however I just really wish they took their time and gave longer foot massages. I paid $90 for a mani and pedi. I was really happy with my results of my nails. I usually have a problem finding a shop that shapes acrylic well, and maxwells did great. That was until 2 days later every single one of my nails began to chip. This was a problem because I received a no chip manicure. I was so upset about the chipping and just went to another shop and paid to have them repaint my nails. I was really excited I found a great place at maxwells. I have been going to this place since it opened. I go every two weeks like clockwork. The original owners where amazing and my no-chip never chipped or my nails never broke and the pedicures where excellent and they didn't rush. Since this place is under new management things have changed so much. They rush frequently, they put the thinnest coating of the gel no-chip so know my nails are always breaking and do not last. My pedicures now are so-so and there is one lady that is very rough and nips me sometimes with her clippers. I am seriously thinking about changing and it's really sad because I have been a very loyal customer. read more

After seeing a decent 4 stars I decided to give this place a go (I live in the area) and was really hoping to find a new go to nail salon, I called to make an appointment and got seated pretty soon after I arrived. Everyone seemed nice but when they told me to go with my nail tech I could just sense a terrible attitude. I wanted acrylics so she put the nail tips on and then cut them down (pretty unevenly but I didn't say anything because she is the nail tech and I wouldn't like someone to tell me how to do my job and I thought she'd come around to fix them at some point). She proceeded to put the acrylic and again I think one of the worst job with that I'd ever had done. When she was getting ready to put the color she asked for me to pay, so I decided to point out and ask if she could at least make my nails even. She looked to annoyed and sat down and just went in and did such a fast and terrible job. I paid her. She put the color on (barely) and literally took my gym bag to the front so I could dry my nails and just dropped it on the floor and walked away. I didn't even know how to turn on the machine. This would have all been somehow better if she was just nicer but literally had such a nasty attitude. I took my nails off at home the same day so that was $40 to nothing. I work in hospitality so I know how annoying it can be to work with people but you choose to go into it and you know what you have to do to make new loyal clients and make good experiences. I'm not mad, I just really don't like bringing business to people like that and I really don't think anyone reading this should. Find some place with people that like their job and hold a good attitude. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. I went with my sister and we had a very bad experience. Nail techs up charged us for pedicures when we have been there plenty of times before and had a different price. I understand businesses were closed due to Covid but you don't try to profit by up charging frequent visiting customers. We will not be returning. For future reference start putting signs out with prices of your services so customers know exactly what they are paying for. read more

So I've been a bi-weekly client of this nail salon for just shy of 1 year (see my previous review). I have endured loud and continuous conversations over my head and or feet between employees during my entire service, light weight rudeness and irritating TV/Karaoke shows but my no chip has never lasted longer so, I endured. But today was it! I made an apt on Sunday for today. Ubered to the salon to find it was closed. I phoned thinking maybe they were on lunch...who knows. Only to hear a message that the business would be closed until Thursday due to weather conditions. I completely understand however, they failed to let me know and I have shit to do that required my nails being presentable! After 1 year of bi-weekly services and you can't call/text to properly inform me of your business closing while I have a scheduled apt? That just let me know what they really think of their clients....they don't think of their clients. But there is a silver lining...I found a new spot with exceptional professional service just 1 block from my home! Elle Nails West Loop where I enjoyed a pedicure in peace in a private room with the bomb ass massage chair! And my nails are gorge! I should have left their asses so long ago but I am a creature of habit and again, my nails lasted. The owners of Maxwell were always kind to me so I hope this review helps them to improve the professionalism of the staff. But I'm out! I went for a pedicure a few months ago. For a place located in the city near UIC, super clean, and good service, it was pretty cheap. Best part was they give a good discount if you are a UIC student. Went in for the grand opening for a mani pedi and had an excellent experience. Everything was clean, an as a nurse, that is important to me. I saw how they treated their equipment and the disinfecting process and was very happy with it. (Nurses are complete germ-a-phobes). I actually just came back again for a walk-in eyebrow wax. Wish I got her name. She took so much time on them. At one point I was thinking, "omg, did she wax my whole eyebrow??" Because she was taking such a good time with them. Got the mirror and WOW. I have went here several times and each time I am disappointed. I hoped that different nail techs would be able to do a better job but that never happened. Each time I get an acrylic nail set done I have had a nail or several nails pop off within a week of getting them done, it is not like I do any heavy lifting. I went for the 1st time yesterday and will be coming back for sure. Their prices are reasonable, and they are one of the few salons that do offer SNS/dip manicures. I also loved that they had a ton of colors to choose from. I'm recently relocated to the city and the few salons that do offer SNS/dip manicure didn't have that many colors. Maxwell does! Over 250+ colors to choose from! I also like that their prices are reasonable. I also liked how fast they are. I have to get SNS as that is the only way color will stay on my nails w/out damaging them since they are so thin. I can also appreciate that they take walk-ins. Where I moved from, you can just walk-in anywhere to get your nails done but up here I noticed most places only take appointments so just being able to walk in saves me a lot of time. And lastly being conveniently located is the icing on the cake. I will be coming back for sure. I've attached a pic of my results. read more

Maxwell originally had really good service and did a very good job, but as the year progressed the quality has decreased and they insist on shaving down my nail bed for dip, which is not supposed to be done. Also, they have caused a lot of pain when taking my nail polish off by just ripping the nail polish off versus using acetone. Overall, Maxwell Nail Spa is over priced and the quality of their service is not good. read more
