Ate here today for the first time after reading about the restaurant in the local paper. It was pretty busy when we got there at 1:00 but only waited about 10 minutes for a table. We ordered in a reasonable amount of time, got our drinks, but then waited, and waited, and waited..... We ordered 3 burgers - not a difficult order. It was at least 45 minutes before our food came. The waitress never came by to say why our order was delayed. Table next to us was also waiting a long time. Once food arrived, it was not very hot, but we were so hungry we ate it anyway. Plus side - burgers and fries were delicious. When we told the waitress about the temperature, she did take 10% off our bill. She was not a very "animated" server... Had never been there before, but the decor was really nice and the restaurant was impeccable. Both restrooms were out of order when we wanted to use them before leaving. All in all, we will give it another try because the food was really good. Hopefully, we just hit it on a bad day when the service out front and in the kitchen was "lacking". read more

I'm a sucker for a good burger and Max's makes one of the best. Actually,I'm a sucker for their creamsicle milkshakes also. Max's is one of my favorite places and in fact I've celebrated my last two birthdays with lunch there and the place is great! The waitresses are awesome and the menu basically has something for everyone. Usually when I go I get the Sloppy,I literally crave it a few times a year.,and I love the nachos with cheese. They make really good clam chowder and fish and chips. The chilli cheese dogs and chilli cheese fries are awesome! Very flavorful. The deep fried Oreos are excellant also. I absolutely adore the waitresses. They are really nice and really sweet. One even offered us some advice on how to fix my mom's engagement ring after a botched manicure left it covered with parafine wax,Wish I'd gotten her name.,and even gave us a paperclip to us get the wax out of her ring. read more

An absolute disappointment. Not only was the service extremely rude but it also took 45 minutes for myself and a friend to get a burger and a quesadilla which I could've made faster myself. The staff has a tentative grasp extremely tentative grasp on what it actually takes to run a successful restaurant and spends most of their time socializing with each other rather than fulfilling the orders. It was also quite a shock to learn that the person taking forever to complete our order was the ACTUAL OWNER. The clueless cash girl kept running my card and telling me it was declined even thought it turned out that their cashless device was down meaning they would not be able to accept any cashless payments. Instead of telling me this the owner continued to try his card expressing that "his bank account was ok" therefore insinuating that I didn't have enough funds to buy the already not worth it food. The once again clueless cash girl expressed that the cashless device was down after several minutes of her and the owner gossiping about my card and giggling. My favorite part of the trip was when this sad excuse of an employed informed me there was an atm around the corner so I could go get cash to pay for the food I already waited an hour for at this point. That was pretty much the last straw for me and I walked right out of that shit hole without anything. You're honestly better off going to McDonald's. read more

How do you give zero stars cause that's what Max Dogs in Dartmouth Mass deserves. First $3.50 for a grilled coney island hot dog is ridiculous. For that kinda money I was expecting a huge hotdog instead got a shriveled up skinny dog that didn't even meet the length of the bun. Second they charge extra for coney sauce and the dog hardly had any coney sauce at all, my first and last bites had none. Third I bought 3 ( only eating 1 and 1/2 cause it tasted so bad ) and was served 1 that had the end bun if you're going to charge me $3.50 for a hotdog at least give me them in a center bun and not a grilled end bun. Forth as I mentioned I couldn't even finish what I paid for cause it just tasted so bad. So if you want a to over pay for a hotdog and get a skinny shriveled up dog that tastes gross go to Max Dogs. My advice is to save your money and go someplace else. read more

I went to Max's on March 4, and I was very unhappy with the experience. I got the chicken quesadilla and the quality of chicken was significantly below adequate. I thought I would be receiving quality chicken, at a family owned restaurant, however I was mistaken. The chicken was very foamy and chewy. The waiters at the restaurant were very friendly, however I was rushed many times throughout my visit. I was only eating my dinner for about 10 to 15 minutes, and the waitress already asked if I wanted dessert. Also, while I was still eating my dinner the waitress came with my bill before I finished eating. I was very excited to hear about a family owned burger place opening near me, however I was very disappointed with the quality of the chicken and the service. I will not be going back. read more

Max's is the place to get a burger. Forget the big chains, this is the place where you want to come and get a juicy delicious burger. I was there before the remodel but can't wait to go back now that they have beers on tap! I can't wait to get back there and see it. Amazing staff and amazing food. Just left Max's having had lunch there for a second day. Onion rings are outstanding. Clam chowder is thick with lots of clams. The place including the restroom is very clean. The staff is very friendly. Food is fresh and very good. I'll be returning. read more

I like my burgers a little charred but alot of people don't. Next time I will tell them to make sure not to cook so long. Fresh beef and not greasy. The bun was also tasty. Fries are also not greasy and are awesome! Buzzard's Bay on tap too!!! read more

The owner and staff are very friendly. You can't go wrong with anything here, love the Cattleman and Portuguese burgers. If you sign up they offer weekly by text, usually wings for the football season. read more

I stopped by Max's one day with my brother because he highly recommended it. This is a nice small place to sit down and enjoy a meal. The staff was very friendly and the food was even better. Nothing extraordinary. Priced a little on the high side for what you get. Nothing particularly distinguishable about the food. In fact, just as I was finishing a burger and fries I discovered a hair stuck to one of the fries. The damage was already done. There was no point in bringing it to anyone's attention. Ordered take out. When we got the order home, we found it was incorrect. The clerk forgot the fries and gave us a single instead of a double burger. Called to report the mistake, she apologized, I said no problem, and then jumped right back in the car to go retrieve the fries and get the double. Was told to bring the single back, which we did. I rushed back and as it is around the corner, did not bring my wallet. When I arrived back, the clerk proceeded to tell me that yes, she forgot the fries, but she knows that I ordered a single because she "repeated the order back to me." We have never ordered a single as we have two teenage boys who eat doubles! In any case, she told me she hadn't charged me for the double so I would have to pay for it. When I asked to speak to the manager, his young son who also looked like a teenager said he was in charge. He told me that he would only make me another single if I wasn't going to pay the difference (for their mistake!) and left me waiting at the counter for 15 minutes with the original single in hand getting ice cold. He sent me home with the original single, a new single and a half order of fries. They just lost fairly regular customers over about 55 cents! read more
