Max has worked on my lawn mower twice now. The mobile aspect is fantastic. Not having to haul the mower to and form a shop, wait for your turn to be looked at, max comes to you, fixes and is great. Highly recommend. read more

My mower would start but then stall out, and I needed it! Called at 8:30 Saturday morning, he was here at 11:30 that same morning. Very competent, seemed to know what he was doing; and explained it to my neighbor and me. Fair price. read more

Dan, at MacsMobileSmallEngine, returned my call about a carburetor problem with my Honda cb750. He made a suggestion that I will follow up on and offered more help if needed. It's rare to have someone call back let alone know what might be helpful. Will definitely use and recommend him highly. Thanks, Dan. Marc read more

At home service, was here in a timely manner, reasonable price. Highly recommend. My husband was very impressed.

Ed did an amazing job of diagnosing the problem with my Toro lawnmower and had it back in service within an hour. This included a thorough review of the entire engine and a testing of how well the mower was cutting. And, he came to my house; so, no hauling to a facility and then waiting however many days for the work to be completed. This was one of the very best service experiences I've ever had! If I could give Ed 10 stars, I would. read more

Ed arrived on time, had our chipper fixed in about 10 minutes and showed us some of the important settings we were not aware of. Also gave us a number to call to replace the chipper tires. Inexpensive!! read more

He knows everything about my Scott/ John Deere riding lawn mower. He fixed it quick and for a good price. I liked that he came to my house instead of having to haul it somewhere. Great mechanic. read more

So when it snowed 5 inches, and my reliable Ariens Deluxe 24 suddenly wouldn't start I knew I had a problem! Hand shoveling my driveway is not practical on a regular basis with a decent snow volume, and because of the amount of square feet I've got (it's A LOT). I started looking for someone to come to me for a repair, as I have no way to tow this beast to a shop -- and found Max's Mobile Small Engine here on Yelp! Not only was he able to come out quickly, he was able to come to me and charged a very fair price to get my Ariens up and running again. Turns out there was something stuck in our carburetor, hence why the engine wouldn't start. I'm not an engine person, and would have never been able to troubleshoot that on my own. Really glad he was able to come, and I have now referred him to my neighbor just in case she ever needs anyone! Thank you, Ed! read more

Ed came to my home and revived my Craftsman lawn mower that has been sidelined for a year. Ed displayed great attention to detail. He did a good job repairing my engine brake cable, sharpened my blade, changed the oil, and used Sea Foam to clean out mower engine. I would highly recommend Ed who owns Max's Mobile Small Engine service. Very reasonably priced too! read more

Ed is amazing. Down to earth, responsive, knowledgable and really, REALLY good at his job. Yes, he's old school but in the best way possible. Ed did a snow thrower for me (1999 Troy Bilt workhorse) and a quick mower tune up. He showed up when he said he was going to, did the job in my driveway without me having to cart a 250# thrower into my car, and charged a reasonable price. I also learned about six new things on small engine maintenance and upkeep (tip: always watch the pros and how their hands move - such economy of motion!). I can't recommend Max's mobile enough!! And, on reading the other reviews, I also realized I forgot to ask why he's Ed and it's Max's :-) read more

Ed came out two hours after I'd called, and fixed my snowblower inside my garage. Took him an hour or so, and he charged a fair reasonable price. Thing ran great afterwards. I'd recommend him to anyone. Hint: don't call for a fix when you have a foot of snow in the driveway. He gets busy. Check your snowblower well before the first snow, which you should be doing anyway. read more

Initially I was going to take it to a small motors place to get repaired, tossed the snowblower in my car and that absolutely sucked! Heavy lift and wiggle into car, roll rear window down to close hatch...drive to place, only to find it had been a converted to auto repair shop...used yelp to find a new solution. Found Max's small motors Called him left vm, he called later in the day and I told him our issue with our Honda snowblower. Told him I wouldn't be home but my wife and her girlfriends would be there. His response was don't worry I'm in the garage the whole time so I won't be in the way. Why he deserves five stars Nice over the phone Prompt, kept within the appt range, actually was there when he said he'd be. Came the same day we spoke Easy no nonsense service transaction He came to my house and fixed it!!! Price was what I felt affordable, so very happy! Thanks Yelp and thanks Max! read more

Ed of Max's Mobile is fantastic. Great communication with prompt, affordable services. I would highly recommend his services......

Wonderful service!! Ed came out within a few hours of me calling to look at my snow blower. Mind you, this was after several days of snow and another impending snowfall. He took less than 30 minutes to fix the issue and tighten up a few of the loose nuts/bolts better. He then tested it out by snow blowing almost my entire large driveway. Lastly, he gave me a tutorial to make sure I knew how to operate properly and then gave me tips and recs on how to keep the snow blower properly maintained. Very reasonable pricing as well! read more

I'd term it good, old fashioned excellent service. Called Max's Mobile and got a prompt return call from Ed. Explained the problem with my riding mower (it died) and he said he'd be out the next couple of days to take a look. Two days later I got another call and Ed said he'd swing by if I'd be home. To make a long story short, he arrived promptly, fixed the problem and gave me a lot of good tips on maintaining it in future. Was extremely impressed with what a friendly and knowledgeable guy Ed was. I definitely received five star service at a great price. Forgot to ask him why it's called Max's and he's named Ed... read more

Highly recommended. I almost went with another shop to repair my lawnmower before I decide to call Max's Mobile Small Engine. I dealt with Ed who was extremely friendly, knowledgeable on the phone and in person. He was right on time when he came out and diagnosed my mower's issue within minutes after patiently listening the issue. Ed then gave me the option of fixing it for me or telling me which parts I needed to fix it. I chose to make my own repairs since it was relatively simple and he even recommended a local shop so that I could get the parts right away. I am very appreciative and would not hesitate to call Max's in the future as needed. read more

Ed (not Max), came out promptly same day (which was a Sunday night) and fixed my lawn mower and sharpened the blades for a fair price. I haven't had any trouble with it since, and can't say enough about his prompt and efficient service. Ed even gave me some tips to prepare my mower for the winter and starting it back up next spring. Thank you! I would highly recommend him over any of the local stores who either won't return your call or won't even look at your mower for several weeks. read more

Ed is excellent. Very down to earth and accommodating. He came over to fix my snow blower with 48 hours notice. Ed followed through well on a pre-season tune-up for my snowblower, and when there was a problem getting it started for the first storm of the winter, he came back the next day to ensure it was running with good advice on how to keep it operating over the entire season. Too bad he said after this winter he will no longer service snow blowers and will focus on warm weather engines- if only we never needed any other ones but those in our area! read more

I've used Max's Mobile a few times over the past several years. I know I will use them for future projects. read more

Max called back in an hour saying he does not come out this way, but referred me to his buddy Dean. Dean came over within a few hours with a van full of tools, nuts and bolts, and most importantly, Dean's know how and good attitude. Riding mower was up and running, along with helpful tips on how to keep it in tip top shape and how to avoid having to call Max or Dean so much in the future! But, when normal maintenance fails, or if you just want someone to come out and do routine maintenance, for the cost of having someone pick up and drop off your machine, Max's (and also Dean) is the best choice. read more

Ed knows his stuff and gets it done right. Super friendly and will come right to your house. Very disappointed in their customer service. Very rude! From the first phone call, until I left with my lawn mower, they were rude, and hateful! IN the beginning I was told that they were 100 deep in lawn mowers and it would be 2 -3 weeks before they could get to my lawn mower. Ok, I could understand. Even though it only needed a belt. Three weeks later, I called, and they informed me the belt was on back order. Their supplier didn't have any and it was on back order. With technology being what it is now, and the internet at your fingertips, its hard to understand why they couldn't go online and find my belt. I mentioned that and I was informed they couldn't put an "after market" belt on, as it was a complicated procedure to take everything apart, drop the engine, to get to the belt. There is nothing I hate more, than being lied to. I went to YouTube to verify how difficult it would be to replace the belt. It was NOT going to be difficult or require dropping the engine. I asked for the part number, went online, and within a matter of minutes had found at least 4 locations where I could purchase the belt, which I did and had two days later. I took the belt to them. Within a very short time, that same day, they called and said the lawn mower was ready. Hmm, a complicated procedure that they had managed within a short time. However, the battery wouldn't start the lawnmower and I would need a new one. I told them not a problem, I'd stop in at Walmart and purchase one. Oh, no, they said that Walmart's "neverstarts" aren't any good and they would advise against buying one of Walmart's batteries. They insisted they had the best one, for a mere $42. Walmart battery would cost me a whopping $21. I should actually have gone to O'Reilly's and bought it, as they hadn't knocked O'Reillys. Needless to say, I bought it at Walmart. Upon my arrival at Max's they informed me that if I didn't have the tools to exchange their battery for my newly purchased one, they would charge me $10 to RENT their tools. Thank goodness, I carry tools! We exchanged the batteries. I guess they had assumed I would buy their battery, as it was already installed. For some mysterious reason, my new Walmart battery wouldn't even make a clicking noise, much less start the lawnmower. I wonder what wire could have "mistakenly" been disconnected?? Hmm... Now, this was on a Thursday, before Memorial Weekend. Max's were going to be closing at 5 pm and wouldn't reopen until the following Tuesday. They were manipulating me. I was not going to have time to run to O'Reilly's and get a battery. So, I caved and agreed to buy their battery. Oh, but they didn't have the $42 one in stock, ONLY the $49 battery. They did install the $49 battery, without charging me. How thoughtful! (sarcasm) Now all this time, the repairman and the counter woman were treating us very poorly. I would rate their customer service an F. Never have I, as a customer, been treated so horribly. It was evident they didn't appreciate me finding and purchasing the belt myself, or buying a battery from someone else. If I had waited for them to finally get the belt, they could have had my lawnmower for most of the summer. Worse customer service I have every experienced in my lifetime. And, I'm a senior citizen! I would NEVER recommend Max's to anyone!!! Ever!! read more

So....we had a nearly new Sears Craftsman 2 stage snowblower that needed its' carburetor replaced while it was still in warranty. It took Sears 3+ weeks to fix it but it started up and was good to go.....until the next season. The snowblower wouldn't start so we tried to fix it ourselves and spent way too much time and effort in a failed attempt. I found Max's Mobile Small Engine on Yelp and was impressed with the reviews. I called and left a message for Ed, the owner and sole employee for the past 25 years (there is another repair guy named Ed the area that has been in business when Ed started hence the name Max was born). I got a call back within 2 hours and Ed was at my house 20 minutes after the callback. Ed knows engines....first he fixed the problems I created and put everything back together. Then he isolated the carburetor problem, fixed it and gave the machine a new spark plug. He also made some minor adjustments and offered some long term maintenance advice. This was a great experience and I was extremely satisfied with the quick response and his fair price. I promised Ed that I would call him before messing things up the next time I need small engine repairs. read more

I had an issue with my snowblower, which was my fault, but I digress. Ed came out the first chance he could, when we had the big snowfalls in early Feb. He was very nice & gave me some great pointers in maintenance of the blower - something they don't tell you in the manual, Highly recommended, will use again, They also work on lawnmowers, I took his card, & will contact if needed. read more

I used Max's for the first time this weekend and was absolutely thrilled. My 17 year old Honda single stage snow blower was not starting. Admittedly, I had not had it serviced EVER. I called Ed [the owner's name] on a Friday afternoon, and he was able to come out the next day at 9 am, and he arrived punctually. I was a little put off by the old VW vehicle he drove up in but any reservation went away when he started working on the machine. He had it running in a few minutes and then started to look at other performance of the machine, lubricating parts as needed. He changed the oil and spark plug. He also found the scraper bar on the bottom of the blower was also in need of replacing. This proved to be a arduous task for Ed. I was surprised when he actually had the part with him, but then had to cut the bolts off because they were rusted. When he put the new scraper in place, he also put some "goop" on the bolts to insure this might not happen again. All in all, he not only did what I had asked but really did a bang up job of getting this older machine working in good order and he also giving me tips for treating the gasoline and how to properly store the machine during the summer. His price seemed reasonable especially since I did not have bring the blower to him. TERRIFIC. read more
