David, the owner, seems like a nice guy, and he did a good job replacing the tiles on my bathroom floor, and he (mostly his assistant) did a lot of painting, which on the whole looks good. But see below... The big issues were what I discovered after he was finished and had left: fresh paint stains in multiple areas, including the wood floor of my 19th century house and even furniture - which I cleaned up. Splattered paint near the ceiling of my kitchen which still, three months later, has not been patched, paint stains on my oriental rug, a major purchase 40 years ago, etc. David said he would pay for the rug damage, and I only asked for 50% of the very reasonable $175 cleaning cost. David told me to bill him via Zelle, something I said I'm not sure how to do. He already has my Zelle information, since that's how I paid him for the work. But after messaging him and emailing several times, he has not responded. And I still have paint streaks on the wall and an unpaid bill. So I can't recommend Handy Gentlemen. I think part of the problem is that David is under-manned and a bit overwhelmed, but not responding to my messages is unprofessional.

We had three different contractors come out to repair the leaks. All of them left us with outrageous bills, threats of litigation, and bathtubs that still leaked. After receiving payment, none of them would honor their "warranties" and come back to fix their deficient work. When I initially found Jon on Yelp, I was skeptical. I decided to give him a chance because I had no other options. They were extremely responsive and were able to come out in a few days. They fixed both leaks and honored their warranties for minor things I noticed after they left. Their prices are very reasonable. Furthermore, they are actually licensed, which is rare for most services that you find on Yelp. Most contractors will present a license, but have unlicensed workers do the actual work to cut costs. They are also extremely trustworthy and I would have them work in my home with no one present. If you have any issues, I highly recommend you contact them. They will not disappoint. As to the negative reviews left by Ryenne and Amy, all I can say is that Things 2 Fix was one of the most responsive contractors I have come across. Budget Handyman…read more Tyler is a soft spoken guy and respectful. When I first met him he seemed trustworthy, but my experience with Tyler was not good. Therefore, I want to make some points that may help you if you are thinking of hiring him. First of all, Tyler sometimes cancelled his appointments to do work, and when he did not cancel, he was always late. I received many excuses from Tyler for why he could not come, including that he was sick with food poisoning, that he was having car problems, and that he was having problems with his phone. He was very apologetic when late, but he rarely texted or called to let me know he would be late. Furthermore, he would tell me he was going to get lunch and come back in about a half hour, only to come back close to two hours later. All of this would not have bothered me if he had completed the work adequately and there had been no other problems. I hired him to do sound proofing on a wall, and he did a good job on the wall. However, while working on the wall he accidentally got drywall mudding on the ceiling. He then attempted to fix the marks on the ceiling by painting over them. The problem was that even though he tried two shades of paint, he failed to match the color, which left me with two shades of paint on the ceiling.That's when things went wrong. I suggested it might be easier just to paint the whole ceiling since he couldn't match the color, and he responded with a text saying my ceiling was not covered in the payment and if I needed the ceiling repainted I would have to pay extra. Even worse, he claimed there were scuff marks on the ceiling that weren't his fault, despite the fact that my entire condo, including the ceiling, was painted before I moved in in March of this year. In other words, he made a mistake and then blamed me instead of fixing his mistake. Unfortunately, I had already paid him for the job at this point, and he never did fix his mistake. Please take this into consideration before you hire Tyler, so that you don't have an experience like I did.

What should have been an exciting improvement to our home has instead turned into months of frustration, disruption, and stress. Communication from the owner has been extremely poor throughout the project. There has repeatedly been miscommunication between the owner, the workers, and what was actually agreed upon in our contract. I have constantly had to go behind the workers, remind them of what needed to be completed, point out mistakes, and address work that was rushed, sloppy, incomplete, or simply not done correctly. The company has also failed to provide a consistent, experienced crew. Workers frequently took days off or simply were not here, and different or inexperienced workers were sent to complete jobs they did not appear qualified to perform. Painting has been particularly disappointing, with sloppy workmanship and areas that have needed correction. Rather than completing each portion of the project properly, much of the work has felt rushed and half done. Another ongoing issue has been the complete lack of respect for our home. Massive amounts of construction debris and trash have repeatedly been left both inside and outside our property instead of being properly cleaned up and removed. Throughout all of this, I upheld my responsibility as the customer. I made every payment on time and many times earlier than required. I gave this company every opportunity to complete the work they were contracted and paid to perform. Looking back, I wish I had stopped the project much sooner. Unfortunately, we were under contract, had already invested significant time and money, and simply wanted the work finished. Instead, we have spent month after month living in a home where multiple rooms have remained unfinished, work has repeatedly needed to be corrected, and we have had to constantly supervise a project that we hired professionals to manage. The mental and emotional toll of living under these conditions for this length of time cannot be overstated. Having your home disrupted for months, never knowing whether workers are going to show up, repeatedly discovering mistakes, living around unfinished construction and debris, and constantly having to chase someone for communication is exhausting. All in all, this has been an extremely disappointing experience. I would not recommend this company. If you are considering hiring them, I strongly encourage you to carefully consider whether you are prepared for the possibility of spending many months living with unfinished work, inconsistent crews, poor communication, repeated mistakes, construction debris, and the stress of having to personally oversee work that you hired and paid a remodeling company to manage. After this experience, I believe we deserved far better communication, workmanship, project management, cleanliness, and professionalism especially considering that we consistently honored our financial obligations throughout the entire project.
