Unfortunately we're less than pleased with Classic Remodeling. The quote was workable initially. We did like the line by line pricing. Classic's pricing for painting was extremely high along with installation of light fixtures and mirrors so we took off the quote. So this is were the problems started. We had to go pick out the flooring which was fine but then we were sent to two different locations to pick out the quartz tops. The salesperson at each were clueless about our order. We settled on plain white figuring it couldn't screwed up right? wrong! The bevel we picked out wasn't put on top. It had to be returned, another week lead time. There's a pattern here of promises, quality and communication that's extremely lacking with Classic. I could go on and on but I wanted to let everyone know that Classic does NOT stand behind their work or the products they supply. Our MAJOR issue was with a trash cabinet. After jury rigging a work around because They ordered the wrong parts and overcharged us to boot. It was an ugly repair that I documented. After complaining they sent out a technician who agreed that the rigged fix wasn't right but his boss Alex told him to just stain it to try and slip it past me. Classic refused to fix it right! Alex underbid the projects severely, and we chose to go with him because his bid was the lowest and they had a perfect 5 star review everywhere we looked. The guys Alex sent out did work of varying quality. We asked for 2 gutters to be fixed. One of them is fixed and functions properly. The other one, less than a year later, is leaking in the same place as before. We asked for am old electrical post to be removed and siding replaced to cover up a hole where birds get in to nest. They removed the post, fixed the siding, and left a small hole where birds came back to nest this year again. We needed our trap door for our crawl space repaired and made safe. During the bidding process, Alex was confident that he could take care of the issue and had a plan. During the project, it became clear that he did not communicate to his guys what the plan was, and they had never done such a thing before. The spent a lot of time shopping for hydraulic hinges that are a specialty item I could have ordered since their boss hadn't thought ahead to provide them. Our new steel front door became scratched at some point during the work, and there was not really a solution offered. Also, the door jamb does not meet the flooring on the inside. There is a huge bare gap there. Where a hole was drilled to install the doorknob, the door is cracked. The front door is another area where the project was very poorly managed. The trim that came with the door was a different width than the trim previously around the door. I was given the option of putting old rotten trim back around the door or have them replace all of the siding around the door. I told them I didn't want rotten trim put back on the house, and they went ahead with replacing siding in the small area surrounding the door. We asked Alex to replace the aluminum corner pieces on our house. The product provided was a different size and texture from what was on the rest of the house. We were told they no longer made the smooth corner pieces. Then somehow they found some smooth corner pieces. They replaced all but one of those, which is really high up on the house, and that one is still missing. I don't know why they didn't replace it. We stopped asking them to fix things that were not properly done on the job because the bill was already out of control, and we couldn't afford to pay them any more than we already had. The bid for the work done was $2,527.11. We ended up paying $4690.22. That is 196% of the original estimate. I talked with Alex numerous times about the bill, and how I felt taken advantage of. He said he had gotten really busy and overwhelmed and the project had gotten out of control. He asked me how I wanted to handle things and said they were already losing money on the project because he had decided not to charge us for some things. We paid the whole invoice that he sent over, and I felt terrible and taken advantage of. That was our whole amount of money we had to finish all repair projects, and they did only some of what we had originally asked for since we could not afford to pay double on everything. I was given change orders to sign after work was done. Change orders are supposed to be signed before work is done. I did not agree to sign them. I am not a contractor, and I do not know what is involved in all of these projects. That is why we hired a company to do the work. My son was 12 months old at the time, and I also was unable to be project manager because of that. I expected Classic Handyman to handle project management, and they did a very poor job of that. I tried to be patient and I sat on this review for almost a year to make sure I didn't post it while I was still furious, but this really needs to be put out there. I hope to prevent anyone else from being taken advantage of by this company. Now we will have to pay someone else to come out and fix what I was afraid to ask Classic Handyman to finish. read more

I would recommend Alex and his team to EVERYONE! He answered all of our questions, pays attention to details, stands by his quote, and ensures that everything is done properly. They are very friendly and were VERY accommodating to our dogs... which was a big deal for us (our dogs can be intimidating but are big love bugs but most people are afraid of them) We've had projects here and there but the main one was the installation of our tile floor. The previous owners didn't do a quality job with the old floors so Alex made sure to take the time to ensure this new flooring was put down properly. Bottom line. I'm a disabled veteran that purchased a house needing quite a bit of work. My wife unfortunately found Alex through his website. In total, we've spent just over $30k with him. As time has gone on, we've had to call him back out multiple times because several projects were never finished correctly & in the end, we found out he's lied to us several times plus overcharged us for the last job instead of eating the cost of his own mistakes. Alex has a VERY HIGH turnover rate for his employees. Currently, he's longest tenured employee(s) has been there LESS than a year. We didn't know this initially. The first set of 3-4 guys he sent to perform $20k worth of work had only been working for him for a total of 3 weeks. The biggest job was $10k for a shower remodel. One of his guys, named Will, who of course no longer works for him, did a terrible job on our shower remodel by installing the glass door improperly & busting through our linen closet then did a terrible patching job. We informed Alex of this shoddy work multiple times. Alex would then pretend to fix the door by messing with spacers on the hinges and the door would still never shut. He would act like it was fixed, hoping we would just be satisfied with it & we would continually tell him its not fixed. The shower door is still uneven at the top but after several more trips out here, he finally found an employee that could fix the door so it actually shuts properly now 10 months later. The patchwork performed afterwards was so bad that another guy had to come out to completely redo the drywall patching. Alex is so disconnected from his employees quality of work (because he never comes out to inspect the work nor have I ever seen him actually do any work himself) that he didn't realize it would take this worker an entire day of labor to repair the patchwork and repaint. He blamed his employee for the extra time. After about 25k worth of work, we inquired about having two of our bedroom windows replaced. Alex came out for the estimate, quoted us around $800 per window, then purchased the windows. Two guys came out to do the install and spent about 2 hours talking to their project manager on the phone rather than starting the installation; it was almost noon at this point. Then I get told by the 2 workers that they've been instructed not to do this job and I need to call Alex. Very unprofessional. Alex then tells me he misquoted the time it would take for these windows and they want more money even though I've already signed the estimate. We ended up refusing to use him for this job because of how badly this situation was handled. Alex refused to accept any responsibility for his misquote, lied to us about needing to remove siding & would go on to act like he did us some sort of favor by not charging us for half-day's worth of labor for 2 guys who stood around talking on the phone to their manager for 2-3 hours. Instead, he rolled this labor into our final job along with the shoddy patchwork job on the shower to make up the difference. We know this because this electrical job was nearly identical to the first one he did for us in the garage which was $800 LESS. Then on our final job, I needed 3 circuits in my basement upgraded to 20amps each. He never quoted me an estimate, instead simply telling me "it will be time & materials". Somehow for 2 workers for 8 hours to complete this job was $2300 which is insane. That's because Alex rolled several of his past mistakes (mentioned above) into the final job rather than eating the cost of his mistakes. After the electrical upgrade, 2 weeks later, I noticed that my outside lights no longer work. One of his workers, during the electrical upgrade, asked me if the lights in the back of the house were working because he had to disconnect all the outside lights. A month later, he finally sent someone out to fix it and he's blaming a faulty switch & claiming "its not our fault". What a strange coincidence that only 2 weeks after the electrical work, I have lights that don't work. Alex lied to us about needing to remove siding to replace our bedroom windows as his excuse to get out of doing the job he quoted & we signed. Two days after he wanted double his estimate, we watched our next door neighbor get her entire house worth of windows replaced and not a single piece of siding was removed. Then, instead of eating the labor cost of his 2 guys standing around doing nothing for a half-day due to his misquote, Alex rolled those costs into the final job he did for us. Then, 2 weeks after that electrical job, I noticed my outside lights are not working (and they were working just fine BEFORE this job) so after a MONTH of hounding him to send someone to perform warranty work, his project manager comes out & lies to me claiming it's not their fault. I guess its just a STRANGE COINCIDENCE that my lights stop working immediately after the electrical work which involved disconnecting those lights. Don't use this guy. read more

DO NOT HIRE if you want precision work. Very poor build, sloppy cuts, bad fits. 1st crew he sent over butchered our Victorian Newell posts, Alex had to buy 3 posts to replace. Then he slopped through a one day rebuild at lightening speed with no regard for fit. His attitude turned terrible, and he refused to take direction. My wife actually cried when she saw his "finished" product. Then he refused to return to fix anything we listed, calling it a "bad fit". I have always had to resort to Mr. Handyman and have consistently been disappointed by quality and price. I recently found Classic Handyman and have been blown away! After our plumber fixed a leak from a corroded pipe going from our kitchen sink to the crawl space, we retained a mold remediator to inspect the affected area. He advised us that the leak had rotted several joists. Our usual handyman could not take on the required foundation repairs because he did not have the necessary tools, e.g., a jack. He described in detail, however, what repairs needed to be done. We then obtained free estimates from companies with good online reviews. Alex Riley of Classic Handyman was the only individual who proposed repairs that matched those described by our usual handyman. Indeed, Alex indicated his company had recently done similar foundation repairs on a house that was complicated by an attached deck. Because the damaged area in our crawl space was adjacent to the garage, the task was further complicated as this type of foundation repair is typically done from the outside. Alex assigned Jesus to do the repairs. Jesus was prompt, courteous and incredibly productive. He was able to complete the necessary foundation repairs (i.e., insertion of sister joists and replacement of portions of the sill plate and rim joist) in a single day. When the mold remediator came back to finish his remediation, he said that Jesus and Classic Handyman had done a great job. read more

I am very pleased with Alex and his team members. I have worked with them in the past, they are doing some work for me now and I plan to hire them in the future. They are excellent in getting the work done right at the first time. Tony worked at my home this past week and did a great job with the kitchen faucet and the plumbing of it, gutters cleaning, power wash and the repair of the foundation cracks.
