They tell you to set expectations, so if you are hungry, get a drink. Their cocktails are great! They recently changed their menu to Bao-only, from Search Ahi Bao to a Grilled Veggie Bao. You can add to the bao, such as kimchi, to this extra spicy sauce for a quarter more, but if you love the heat, try it! They also have egg rolls, french fries (super crispy), noodles/rice, and chicken nuggets for drinking food (or for the kids). Their drinks are incredible. They have a lot of Japanese Whisky, so sipping on that or making a custom old-fashioned Topo Chico ice cube they make custom has a different feel. They can make you anything, and the place's vibe is a great spot to enjoy a drink or five with some close friends/family. Also, the family is great. They feel like great friends and welcome you right when you get in. The family there takes care of you, and it's not about a transaction with them; it's about the experience and giving back to the neighborhood of Cedar Park in any way they can. Opportunities To Improve: I don't have any areas to improve, except I wish they had some menu items back! The steak and ribs on the menu were incredible, so I'll surely miss those. However, the Bao Tacos are so good, and the drinks hit the spot; you can likely let the other stuff go. Summary: It is a great place to eat, drink, and watch TV if you want. During the week or as a way to open up the weekend on a FRI night, it's a great spot in Cedar Park. We really enjoyed our dinner here for several reasons. First, it wasn't too busy but the staff made us feel like we were the most important people in the room at all times. They were attentive, helpful and did their best to make sure we had everything we needed. Second, the food and cocktails were wonderful. The steak was cooked perfectly. The edamame had a flavorful zing but weren't overpowering or smothered in sauce (as most non-plain edamame are). The cocktails had a range of familiar and tasty to exciting and new to the palette. I saw a TON of great reviews, which told me I 100% needed to try Max's Fusion and Bar. I showed up right after they opened and was sat really quickly. Unfortunately, there is not traditional waiter service here. You essentially order and pay using an app. You also view the menu on the app. I ordered a few starters including: Floating crispy tofu * This dish did not have much flavor, but once you topped the tofu with that special sauce they give you? It was perfection. Super well-fried but very tasty as long as you don't eat the tofu alone. Lemongrass Shrimp * This was my favorite of the starters. The skin is pan-fried in the lemongrass concoction and I could not get enough. It was SO good for the flavor alone. Sweet Potato Glass noodles * Weird texture. Not a ton of flavor. Has some rice in it which wasn't great. I think they used the same spoon for a rice dish and it got mixed in here. Interesting, but not my favorite. We had a solid amount of food for the starters, so I wanted to move slowly with the entrees just in case we got full quickly. We started with the Curry Ribs. This was seriously the most tasty rib I've ever had. Don't even get me started on the curry. So different in terms of flavor that I've ever tasted and I mean that in the best way possible. HIGHLY recommend. I thought we ordered the Lemongrass ribs as well, but it turns out the order never sent through on the app which is unfortunate. I was already stuffed so this worked out for the best. I also tried their green milk tea and besides being really sweet, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Birthday dinner for me this evening. We had never been and saw the great Yelp reviews so we decided to try a pickup order. There is no phone number for them so don't even try. There is no way to order online either. We ordered: - Sea bass tomato confit - sea bass is supposed to be silky and luscious. This was dry and hard to cut. Hard pass. See pic but it was one piece of fish with a tub of a tomato sauce. - Lemongrass pork ribs - best bite of the night. There wasn't a ton of meat on the bones but the meat was very tender with a pronounced lemongrass flavor. - Spiced pork belly - I didn't enjoy this. Just like the sea bass, pork belly is supposed to be decedent and unctuous. This was a bit fatty on one side and chewy on the other. It did have a pleasant 5 spice flavor. - Tuna steam bun - I didn't try it but kiddo liked it. - Lemongrass shrimp - 3 shrimp. Cooked with shell so when you remove the shell, all of the lemongrass flavor goes along with it. Way overcooked. - Pork belly bao - it was fine. Nothing to complain or rave about. I recently ordered doordash from Max's and was very pleased with not only the quality of the food, but the price! I would definitely recommend the Nori Chicken Karaage, Chicken Pot Stickers, and Garlic Ramen Noodle. As late night food goes, they were all definitely a cut above anything else I could order late evening. The Karaage was crisp and tender with a nice sprinkling of their house veggies and the sauces were a killer compliment with the mango habanero sauce having a nice kick to it and the house aioli sauce as a good alternative. My only complaint is that the picture on the menu showed included limes which would have really complimented the dish. The potstickers were a cut above traditional take-out, with the sauce being a nice savory counterpart to the seasoning and the meat. The garlic ramen was flavorful, but not overwhelming and still tasted great the next day - a rarity for takeout indeed! I get why they do it as it appears to be husband and wife working the front and they don't need the added overhead of extra wait staff. 2) the chairs. For a "bar" atmosphere this place is totally missing the "lounge" aspect. Chairs are solid wood and not overly comfortable. What I liked 1) the quality of the food. I'll be honest, this type of food isn't my go/to ; however, it is clear that everything is freshly made with great ingredients. 2) the drinks. Again, well thought out and high quality ingredients. Ordered a margarita and it came with 2 in square ice cubes. Meaning they don't melt and water down your drink and keep it cold. And old-fashion where they make it basically from scratch. If you are familiar with Max's, the first thing you need to know is that they have significantly changed/cut their menu. The second thing you should know is that they are pretty short staffed and your order may take a little longer than you would expect. This was actually our first time here. Upon entering, we were greeted and the menu changes explained to us. They now only do Bao Tacos, cocktails, and a few kids meals. You order via QR code from your table. You will also pay that way-I recommend leaving the tab open so you can add more cocktails or Bao as the evening progresses. Just about everything is served in plastic cups or to go containers, likely for ease of cleanup with the reduced staff, although my spouse's cocktail was in a real glass on a real plate. Now on to the food. Delicious! We ordered 5 types of Bao tacos, 2 kids meals, and 2 cocktails. There was self serve lime infused water available as well. I think the seared Ahi Tuna Bao was my favorite, with the Pork Belly Bao a close second. Don't forget to try the wasabi aoli with your ahi tuna bao! We also ordered Pork Egg Roll Bao, Baby back Rib Bao, and Katsu Chicken Bao. Be prepared for the katsu to take a little longer. As for the kids meals: the fried fish was a double thumbs up from the kiddo and I'll be honest-I stole a bite and it earned those two thumbs up. Both the fish and the fries seemed to have be beer batter style and my picky kids devoured it. For drinks: I had a Lavish Life (sake and vodka based cocktail). Very yummy, although it felt less fancy in a plastic cup. Spouse had a Iwai Mars Fashioned, which came with a Topo Chico ice cube, add your own cherry syrup and a slice of ginger. The Japanese whisky was so good, it didn't need the rest! I can't speak highly enough of the Bao Tacos here. Now I know why Max's has solid 5 stars, yummy food, friendly service, Max's is not a fancy place but it's a place where you feel people owning/working are passionate about food, drinks, restaurant, and service:) We tried max's fries with out sausage, it's perfect, crispy outside, airy and soft inside but quantity was way too less, with out sausage, so definitely order more. Lemongrass shrimp, husband told this is best shrimp he has ever had, and our host told its because they cook them in there shell, so all the juices are inside and that makes the difference. Sesame glass noodles was good too. Crispy tofu, this is the only dish that was disappointing, tofu was good but the fried noodles they were inedible. I totally loved my lychee martini and my husband his Kirin Inchiban beer. Fyi, As it's a small place, you get a strong smell of cooking in the dining area, if that's something overwhelming for you, I'd say, go for takeout, but definitely try them, and when you do you'll love this place:)) read more

OMG! What a hidden GEM! If I had not found this place on Yelp, I would have known this was here! I was off work, and was looking for a "happy hour" and don't know why this place came up, as not a "bar" (even though in the name). They do have drinks, but more of a restaurant. Did not see any "specials" on drinks. Their dishes are more like "Tapas" style, so just know that when ordering. Now, the ordering...this is only "negative". I understand during Covid a lot of places did this "QR Code" thing...but not anymore. We had trouble with it..after trying to order our food, it wanted you create a log in, and then made you put in a credit card, which for some reason our bank would not let go thru, as thought it was "fraud". Luckily, the owner, Tom came over and took our order. And, luckily, I have a picture memory, so I remember the menu and what I had ordered, since we were frozen on the phone. So, the best part, and why we WILL be back is Tom, as he was very nice and gracious! Also, every plate was ordered got better and better. Every plate had very intense flavor. If you are like my husband, and like "spicy" try the deep red sauce if you get the Bao's. He did the medium one and it was spicy enough for him, which is shocking, as usually, he goes to the extreme heat. But, all pictured here, was the: Max's Fries (*only negative..said "sausage", but when tasted, was like bacon, which still was not bad), Beef Bao, Baby back ribs (**to me the best item we got...FELL OFF THE BONE!!), Seabass (*was a little dry) over yellow curry (ask for white rice on side) and pork belly with white rice too (*needed some sauce for the rice, as just sticky rice). Wish I would have trie this place sooner. Walked in to worded carry out and the staff was super nice and accommodating. I sat at the bar to wait and they offered water, etc. They do have TVs at bar as well. It's a small place but good amount of sitting and bar area too. I came specifically for their bao, since it's hard to find bao around here. The flavors that were fused together were so good, and the buns were cooked perfectly. I also got the ginger infused fried rice and it was great, but it was very strong in ginger, so make sure you like ginger. Everything had tons of flavor and it was filling. Wife and I went to Max's Fusion Bar for the first time this evening and it definitely won't be the last time! In fact, we can't wait to go back! Nice ambiance with great music (chill electronic). The food was FANTASTIC and came out very quickly. The portions are small, which makes it perfect for trying lots of different dishes. I've been here several times. Food is fresh and tastes healthy too. My go-to is the roti chicken dish. The service is friendly but it does take awhile for this dish. Place is clean and owner is nice. The electronic ordering and payment is convenient. My gripe about Max's is that you can't call ahead to order. I go to the nail salon next door and tried to order so it's ready when I'm done but last time I tried, I reached someone who gave me the run around and that the restaurants number when to him on accident but he does work for them in some capacity. As a business owner myself, the main thing a business can do for their own business and for the customer is make it easy for a customer to order. Came here for dinner around 7pm on a Tuesday so it wasn't too busy, but this place is such a gem. The food is really good, and the cocktails are too. The roasted acorn squash was a really tasty starter, served with aioli and a crisp. We also got pork belly which was pretty good, but the real killer was Max's steak entree, which was cooked perfectly (flambe'd?) And served with green beans and a really nice garlic toast (which seemed and looked random but pairs quite well!). We found this little unassuming restaurant by accident. We were shopping nearby and I was starving. My husband found this and we decided to take a look. When we got there it wasn't quite what we expected. We almost left, but we decided to branch out and give it a try. We were immediately greeted and brought water. He explained how to order. We ordered several small plates to share and one large plate. We tried things neither of us had tried before. We both agree that it's the best food we've had in years. Seeing this new restaurant recently opened on Facebook Cedar Park Foodies, I knew I had to try it. I love all types of Asian food, so it was a perfect fit. Easy to find on 1431 across from LA Fitness. Now parking is a bit limited and shared with other businesses. There was only one other table with customers when I walked in. So I was able to pick my own table. The manager came over and explained they were still running a promo for a free bowl of Pho. Yes, please. He showed me where I could order online with the QR code, they would bring the food to the tables and you can pay there too. Sounds like fun. They had three dishes on the lunch menu and their full menu also available. Decided to try the Sate Lemongrass Baby Back Ribs which comes with sesame glass noodles and mixed vegetables. There was also a shrimp in rice dish and a poached chicken dish. All of them sounded delicious. Even though it was lunch, wanted to experience one of their specialty cocktails. Lychee Martini. They have a full bar. Out comes the pho. It had beef, noodles, and on the side were lime, jalapeno, bean sprouts, Basil, tamarind sauce and hot sauce. I haven't had pho in a while as it became bland at many places. Not here, it was exploding with flavor. The broth was savory and danced on your tongue. Noodles perfectly cooked. Beef so tender, it melted in your mouth. This free pho was in a bowl double the size of a cereal bowl so no small portion. I didn't see it on their regular menu so I hope they add it. Did I mention while eating the soup, my drink arrived. It comes with a lychee on a large toothpick. I took my first sip and my eyes opened wide. It was so refreshing and luscious. I kept picking it up to take another sip. If I wasn't driving, I would have stayed and ordered 3 more. I should mention that that the three owners each took turns bringing out the food. Soup, drink, and now entree the third person delivered it. They were all so friendly and enquired how I like the food. They seem to really care about it. At this point, I am full from the pho. But I had to give it my all to taste the ribs. They have to be finger food so picked one up and bit into it. BAM! It hits you spicy, sweet, savory, tender. Heavenly, satisfying, mouthwatering. Okay, I couldn't stop at one and I ate a second one. The mixed vegetables were sliced carrots, red and yellow peppers, mushrooms, red onions cooked to perfect crisp tender. Let me start off by saying I'm a food junkie. I have to say, this is by far one of the best restaurants I've had in years and it's right down the road from me. No more having to drive into Austin for a date night. We started with the Ahi Tuna which had a rich, perfectly paired sauce with it. For our main dishes we tried the wagyu and shrimp fried rice. Both were delish! The wagyu was aromatic and the shrimp had a rich and sweet sauce with it. The ginger rice with the shrimp was unbelievable. It was as good as the rice you'd get in Japan. We finished it up with a sweet lychee martini that was not only beautiful, but tasty. On top of the food being out of this world, but the service was top notch. Tom was there greeting guests and taking time to explain the vision behind this new gem. He's a software engineer who had decided to try something different and different is the least of the words I would use to describe the experience. I can't recommend this diamond of a restaurant enough! It's absolutely incredible! Perfect for happy hour or just a spectacular meal. Service is great and the place has a chill vibe. Ordering is different and I really liked it - you use the QR code and order online at your own pace and then pay when you're done. We started with drinks and the drinks are like nothing I've ever had. I've had good cocktails with fruits and whatnot but these were a seriously the best I've ever had. Muddled fresh fruit that you don't normally see in cocktails like lychee and kumquat. They also make the sweetener syrups in house. My favorites were With a Passion (loved the seeds like a boba tea), Plenty of Tac and Lee Chee. They were so delicious and not overly sweet - just perfectly balanced. If you enjoy less sweet drinks but looking for fascinating flavors, the Fusion Sake and Lavish Life are divine. Next, we had the Hawaiian Edamame which was also unlike any edamame I've had before - so yummy! Last, the Maxs steak was just *chefs kiss*. So perfectly cooked and absolutely melts in your mouth. Just wow! My friend got the Beef Pho and it was also utterly delectable. Something to crave for sure. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who likes to come and meet customers when he can. He has so much joy talking about creating the cocktails and food using unique flavors and fruits you don't normally see. Max's is a cute, new spot in Cedar Park, and I'm so happy it's here. The food was delicious and they catered to our dietary restrictions easily. The ginger fried rice has a unique tang to it that we adored, and the spice chicken dish was perfect mix of spices. The chicken was well cooked and moist, and the rice was the perfect texture with veggies to compliment. We didn't get drinks, but they have a great selection of Japanese whisky, so we'll return for sure. read more

Wow what an amazing experience! My taste buds were in overdrive ... the drinks were delicious and the food was freaking amazing!! We stopped over for a quick bite and I was extremely surprised at The amazing quality and great fusion this place was. I highly recommend it and the service was amazing. I even got a side of free Glass noodles because I mentioned I wanted to try them which I highly recommend. I tried so many things including the spare ribs which fell off of the bone and the seared Aji tuna mmmmmmm!!! read more
