Unfortunately going to have to update my review due to the service department. Unfortunately, was not treated right. I understand policies change, but when you tell your customers to do an engine consumption test, charge them for the oil change, and them to come back after 1000 miles with no appointment needed (to check the oil level no less), that should be the expectation. Unfortunately was rudely told that I would need to drop off my car for HOURS to check my oil level, no other solution except make an appointment (to check an oil level for a 1000 mile check). No other solution. No remorse. Sorry the policy changed? Experienced similar coldness at other Hyundai dealers, thought it was different here, will have to find a different dealership and probably in the future find a different car. Hands down the worst car buying experience I have ever had, and I'm still feeling the repercussions of it a year and a half later. I'll skip over the general skeevy car dealership aspects that other reviewers have mentioned: high pressure bait and switch tactics, bad financing options, run-around trying to get the promises made during the sale fulfilled (including repairing a scratch on the door that took weeks and three "appointments" to get partially taken care of). It's all present at this dealership, but I knew that going in and was willing to live with it because they had the car I wanted. The biggest issue I have with Maxon is that they sold me a new vehicle that was actually used. There were signs of this from the beginning, including the door scratches that the salesman said they would "take care of." They also listed the odometer reading as "10" on the sales sheet when in reality it was closer to 500, and there were issues setting up BlueLink because the car was "already registered." Plus the floor mats that were listed on the sticker weren't in the car when I got it home, and when I went back to get them the ones I got don't quite fit in my vehicle. When I took the vehicle for my first scheduled service appointment, I went to a dealership closer to my house and was told I'm not able to use the maintenance plan that was included in my sale because according to Hyundai USA, Maxon sold my vehicle to someone from Fairfield four months prior to them selling it to me. I discovered that this also meant that I did not have a valid warranty, and the included BlueLink and connected services would also expire four months before they should. This started a SIX MONTH process of trying to gain access to the service plan, warranty and full period of BueLink services that were included in the sale. Asking Maxon for help was a waste of time. Phone messages went unanswered, and an in-person visit just had me waiting for over 90 minutes, only to have everyone I spoke to point fingers at someone else (except for one person who suggested I just "never go to another dealership" so they could hide the issue from Hyundai USA). Eventually, bypassing Maxon and working with Hyundai USA directly, they were, over the course of endless hours on the phone over the last six months, able to transfer "ownership" to me and activate my warranty and service plan, but not before discovering that Maxon did not provide me with a Odometer Statement when I purchased the vehicle (which to quote one Hyundai USA rep, "is illegal"). Attempts to get that statement from Maxon since have gone nowhere (aside from one return call last month to say "we'll get on that"). Hyundai USA's guess is that Maxon sold the car to someone four months prior to selling it to me and registered the sale with them, but the buyer backed out before the state registration was done so they could still claim it was "new." However, between the high actual milage, wear and tear, etc, this vehicle had clearly left the lot before I got it, and once it is "sold" in Hyundai USA's system, it is sold. Even though they have been able grant me the service plan and warranty coverage I was owed, I can never be listed as the original owner in their records (and BlueLink is still not technically fixed). Who knows what will happen if I ever try to sell this car. Regardless of what they are and are not allowed to do, and despite whatever platitudes they may post in response, the fact is that Maxon created this situation and did less than nothing to rectify it. Car dealerships are shady and buying a car can really suck, but Maxon is at an almost comical level of "used car salesman" dishonesty. Their only care is getting as much money out of you as possible, and after that they will say whatever it takes to get you off the phone or out of their showroom. This is my third Hyundai, and I really like their vehicles, but because of Maxon, this will probably be my last. Buyer be VERY aware at Maxon. read more

I'm giving Maxon Hyundai 5 stars ~specifically~ for its service department, which is lights out, and its facility, which is clean and pleasant to be in. Regarding the service department, each time I've had to bring my vehicle in for service they have been nothing but gracious, transparent and supportive. I want to give a special shout out to JEFF and ALYSSA at the check-in desk, who are phenomenal employees and really know what it means to provide excellent customer service. They genuinely care about your experience and want you to walk away feeling good about the work that's done. Jeff in particular is extremely knowledgeable (not to mention a swell guy), and whom would put even the biggest "car guys" at ease. PLEASE NOTE: Have contacted the BBB regarding this matter since this poorly managed establishment thinks they can just ignore my statements. My wife and I recently visited Maxon Hyundai, and unfortunately our experience with salesperson Mr David Gonzalez was extremely negative. His behavior came across as abrasive, unprofessional, and far outside what we would expect at a dealership. At one point, he suggested to us that if we gave him cash "off the books," he could get around parts of the dealership process and secure a better deal. This immediately raised concerns for us and gave the impression that the situation was not being handled transparently. The most upsetting part of our visit, however, involved comments he made to my wife while I stepped away to take a phone call. He told her he could "take her for the best test drive of her life" and that "your husband doesn't have to know." She found these remarks extremely inappropriate, unprofessional, and unsettling. When we began to reconsider our purchase because of these issues, Mr David Gonzalez became noticeably short with us and implied we were wasting his time, saying he had "better things to do." This only added to our discomfort. Overall, this was one of the most off-putting dealership experiences we've ever had. We hope Maxon Hyundai takes reports like this seriously and ensures that all staff represent the dealership with professionalism and respect. Went looking for a new car and was greeted my a nice guy name Hector. told him i was looking to trade in my car for a more compact vehicle because i would be doing more driving the next coming years. He showed me a Kona and an Elantra, 2 very different vehicle but both compact and gas efficient. We went for a test drive and had a great talk .I was very satisfied with his service and ended up purchasing that same day. He made the transition seamless and was very transparent with all the particulars in my sale. I appreciate him for being more human like and not so pushy. DO NOT PURCHASE CARS FROM MAXON HYUNDAI (UNION, NJ) and DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE CENTER I purchased a brand new Hyundai Kona from Maxon Hyundai in January 2025. The car ran perfectly until I brought it in for its first scheduled service (oil change + tire rotation) on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 6,500 miles. Shortly after that service, the same rear passenger tire began showing low-pressure warnings and the sensor was later found to be faulty -- problems I had never experienced before. Aug 15 (Service Day): I was told the service would take 2-2.5 hours, but I waited over 3 hours with no real updates. Rudy eventually said the technician was "wrapping up." Unlike most dealerships, I received no information about a multi-point inspection. Importantly, if there had been a nail or puncture at that time, a proper inspection should have caught it and the service will typically include multiple point inspection. Aug 18 (3 days later): A low tire pressure warning appeared on the rear passenger tire. This had never happened before the service. Aug 22: I called Rudy. He told me to bring the car in. The light was still on when I arrived, but Rudy claimed it had gone off and said they couldn't scan. He told me they checked the tires, saw no problems, and blamed it on the weather change. I even showed photos of the warning light, but he reset the system and sent me away. Sept 8: The same tire warning appeared again. I called Rudy immediately. He said there were no loaners, but I could bring the car back on Sept 11. Sept 11: I dropped the car off again, this time insisting they scan it right away while the light was still on. Sept 12: I received three different explanations from Maxon: first, they told me the TPMS sensor battery had died and it was common brand new car or not (REALLY???) and the tire had a hole patched without mention any nails; later Rudy said there was a nail and it was not Maxon's fault; finally, when I picked up the car, the written report only said "sensor faulty" and "patched a hole" -- no mention of a dead battery or a nail. Rudy stated it was Hyundai product issue to have faulty sensor for a brand new car. The facts are clear: My car had no tire or sensor issues before Maxon's service. Hyundai's scheduled service typically include a multi-point inspection If there was truly a nail or hole, they should have caught it on Aug 15. On Aug 22, Rudy reassured me again that he checked the tires and found no issues, and blamed the weather. By Sept 12, they had given me three contradictory explanations for the same issue. This isn't just poor service -- it's inconsistent, dismissive, and untrustworthy. I brought in a brand new car with no issues, and within days of their service, I was left with a faulty sensor and a patched tire, plus a string of conflicting explanations. If you value your time and want honest, professional service, I strongly recommend avoiding Maxon Hyundai. read more

Title: Worst Car-Buying Experience at Hyundai Maxon - Certified Car Full of Problems I bought a certified used car from Hyundai Maxon on July 2, 2025 (44 days ago). I trusted their sales team when they told me, "Don't buy a normal used car -- take a certified one, it's guaranteed to be good." I believed them. That was my biggest mistake. In less than a month, I had to visit their service center three times because of problems: * A scratch line on the windshield. * The rod near the back, lower side of the driver's seat came out (no noise from it, but still unacceptable for a "certified" car). * Loud, irritating sound from the driver's door while driving. * Additional noise coming from the rear wheel area (I even showed them a video -- they ignored it). They replaced the seat after I complained, but the driver's door noise is still there, and the rear wheel noise hasn't been fixed either. Hyundai Maxon proudly says "Customer satisfaction is our first priority." I can tell you -- that's not true. They just want to sell cars, even if those cars have problems. In the 44 days I've owned this car, there hasn't been a single day of real satisfaction. Every day I'm reminded that I spent my hard-earned money on a headache. Maxon lists their certified preowned cars $2,000 lower than what 99% of customers are eligible for. $1,000 for loyalty discount (you need to have purchased a car from them in the last 6 months) and $1,000 for active military. Hey google, what percentage of the adult population is in active military?: Active-duty military personnel make up about 0.3% of the adult population. Nothing against our veterans, and they are well deserving of a discount, but using a discount only eligible to a fraction of a percentage to the public is nearly false advertisement. Unfortunately there's not enough time or space to explain all that happened to me with this dealership but just know it took over 3 months to register my car due to them trying to sell a car that wasn't completely possible to sell yet because of the loose ends of the previous owner, they messed up/changed my address after documents were signed leading to a delay in my loan and I've traveled hundreds of miles due to their negligence to right their wrongs. We purchased a car from this dealership recently. I will say that the salesman and the finance people we dealt with were ok... however, the girls who are answering the phones at the front desk are absolutely awful. They are rude, they hung up on us twice when calling before our first trip down...We were given wrong information on everything from the price range of the vehicle to the methods in which we could pay which resulted in my husband making a wasted 90min drive (one way) on his initial visit. The price of their cars is not what is advertised, but at the end of the day we did need a vehicle, and the dealership had the car we wanted. When we went to pick up the car, we still owed the tax which we paid in cash, but they could not give us change, so we had to charge a $43 difference on our debit card. They charged us the entire amount of the tax ($3543) on our debit card after taking $3500 from us in cash. I noticed this the next day when checking my accounts. When we called to get the issue straightened out, we were transferred to several different people who couldn't help us because everyone we had dealt with previously was "off" that day. It has been a week and we still have not been refunded the THOUSANDS of dollars this dealership stole from us. I realize this may have been a simple mistake but it is the kind of mistake that should be taken seriously, and remedied immediately, no matter who is working that day. We have the receipts to prove we were charged twice. We are still waiting on a "call back from someone who can help." I would avoid this dealership if you can. read more

Went to Macon Hyundai yesterday to look for a car. Didn't have an appointment. As soon as we walked in we were approached by a salesman, Arlin. Asked if we had appointment, when he found out we didn't he said he would help us. Told him what we were looking for and he immediately went and got a set of keys for a car to show us. Took it for a test drive, which we ended up buying. Richard Martinez was our finance guy. We went back a forth a couple of times ended up with a reasonable price. Arlin had the car ready, cleaned inside and out, even though it was raining. Gave it a full tank of gas, which really surprised me. They made the whole thing painless had us in and out in about 2 hours. Will be buying another car in a few months for our younger child, will definitely go there first. I have to add I am not a patient person hate long drawn out things like buying cars. This was definitely a painless experience. And as a side note we had visited Paramus Hyundai earlier in the day and and did NOT have a good experience. read more

Very dissapointed. I came in there ready to buy a 2023 Hyundai Sonita. I filled out the online offer form for the car. Plugged in all the information on my trade in. The car was listed for $19,751 and with the taxes, DMV Fees, Doc Fee, Etch Fee and trade in that was quoted, the final price was $21,168. This was the cash price that Maxon's online portal came up for me. I went to the dealer and test drove the car. All the sales manager wanted to know was will I take it today if he got me to my price. When I finally agreed, he went to the back office and came back with a price of over $28,700. When I showed him the offer that I printed out, he then tells me that I did not meet the discounts that were offers (Maxon Loyalty - must have bought a car within 6 months at any Maxon dealer $1,000, Military discount - $1,000 and Lease discount of $1,000. On top of that they offered me less than half the price that they came up with (on-line) on my trade in. I have bought 2 used Hyundai's in the past 5 years from local dealerships. I have never been asked to pay over $7,500 more that the all in price that was quoted on their website. Please do not ask me to call your sales manager. I was there for over 2 hours. When you come back with a price that is $7,500 over your computer generated offer price and even if I add in the $3,000 that (according to your sales manager) I were not entitled to (loyalty, military and lease discounts) - your price was still $4,500 more than the on-line offer that I had in hand. If you need to get $28,700 I am sure customer would prefer that you tell them that up front vs publishing an offer price of $7,500 less. read more

Terrible, purchase a new Palisade a over month ago and still have not received plates and registration. Contact dealership and Eric the sales manager told me that the dealership would pay for any summons I received, instead of expediting the problem. Would you trust them to pay the summons, DOUDT it . Also at time of delivery which is over a month ago, they gave me an I OWE YOU for floor mats which never received yet. Eric told me that the floor mats are in but need to find a way to get them to me, I guess they never heard of Fed Ex or UPS . UNETHICAL and likely ILLEGAL Visited Maxon Hyundai this past Saturday to test drive a used Hyundai Palisade that they had advertised on their web site for $25,292. After test driving the car, it was time to do a deal. I was told by their Business Manager that I did not qualify for two of the incentives that were being offered as part of the $25,292 price. The first was a $1,000 active military discount and second was a $1,000 discount for dealer loyalty. I offered $26,292. After checking with the office, the Business Manager came back with their counter offer.....$32,000. How a $25K car plus $2K for not qualifying for a the two incentives turned into $32K is beyond me.... I left vowing to never again to try to do business with these unethical folks...buyer beware read more

I will start with the good: the dealership showroom is very nice and clean. When we went in to test drive the car, we were helped by Fidelix, who was sincere and knowledgeable. Our ultimate salesperson, Brian, was also very pleasant, although I didn't appreciate the hide-the-ball sales tactics (more on that below). The finance manager was very professional and very nice. I walked away with an overall negative experience because I went in assuming that the price for our Hyundai Kona EV that was advertised on their website (Maxon's website, not Hyundai's) was what we would pay. I was not interested in haggling anyone down, so I just wanted to pay it and be on my way. The offer was $7500 off MSRP and 5.99% financing 60 months. They came back with some monthly payment number but not the price of the car (I know this trick and was not interested), and when I asked what the price of the car was for that, it was much higher than advertised. The second round of back-and-forth involved roughly the correct price for the car, but 10% APR financing (my husband and I both have excellent credit, so this was a shock). I finally pulled up the ad and said "I want this offer. This price, and this APR." The manager was summoned at that point and tried to tell us that Maxon couldn't offer that price because it was below MSRP, or something along those lines, which was ridiculous because the MSRP and the discount were laid out on the website offer. I finally told him he can meet that price and we'll buy the car or if not, we'll leave, but let's not waste any more time. That did the trick, but I did not appreciate all of the back and forth to get there, especially since it was a published offer. At each turn of negotiation, I found the presentation of the price, additional fees, etc. confusing, which I know is how they get you, but it's been 10 years since I bought a car at a dealership, so I was taken aback by the lack of clarity of the deal terms (I am a tax lawyer, so I'm pretty good at numbers and wading through confusing finances). They also did not connect our car to BlueLink correctly (we figured it out on our own). Maybe all dealers are like this, I don't know, but it was not a great experience for me. My experience at Maxon Hyundai was terrible. I was suckered into a deal in which they raised the price from 59k to 70k and didn't explain that that was how they got to the very high lease price. Everytime I have come in to discuss the issue I get the runaround. I believe they took advantage of me and my good will since I had been in 3 cars through Maxon previously. I am paying way over the value of the car and will never recommend or purchase through Maxon again. read more

Actual email that I had to send detailing my experience:, Unfortunately my experience yesterday at your facility was nothing short of atrocious. The fact that a simple wiper blade replacement, turned into me going back and forth between your two departments, in the rain, which had me feeling like, instead of a valued customer -- an unvalued employee of your organization was truly terrible. I have decades of experience in customer service, and my experience yesterday was a clinic on how to provide terrible customer service and a terrible client experience. Here's a recap of my experience: - The handoff between your department to the "service department " was fraught with peril - A valet moved my car, for which the purpose was unclear and no one explained clearly - The "service" person had to go looking for you to clarify who was to "pay" for the wiper blade (My leasing agreement should have had this covered is my understanding under normal covered service) - I was directed to go to the parts area to pick up a part -- why am I, the paying customer being told to go to another area of your work organization to get a part for the service that you provide? I'm not an employee of your organization. This felt like I was at the DMV, and being forced from one area of the location to another with bad customer service. Maxxon Hyundai replicated this experience perfectly. Which is a low bar to meet. - It was not made clear to me who was procuring the part, retrieving the part, nor installing the part - Once I did arrive at the outside parts location IN THE RAIN, the door was locked. - I had to move my car, once again, from where the "VALET" moved it, which was unclear why it was moved in the first place to the location of where the "PART" was supposed to be - I went back to the Parts location by chance to make one final attempt, only to have the attendant say he was looking and waiting for me, but then why was the door closed? Is it possible that everyone was just looking to clock out instead of taking care of the customer due to it being the end of day? - I left in disgust to come back to look for you, only to have your manager, come tell me to go over to another department, instead of taking it upon himself to navigate your company's infrastructure, where I had to re-explain to another manager what customer service was, and what I was supposed to be getting done. - Again, all of this "WORK" being performed by me, as a client who pays for a "service" but I seemed to be doing a lot of "WORK" while paying for the service. This was the opposite of "SERVICE" and was actually a disservice. There would be multiple areas of development that I would suggest for your company. #1 being, to fix the apparent separation that exists between your 2 "groups". Customers or Clients should not be doing the work of your internal organization for you. When I go to Burger King, they don't tell me to come to the back and make the burgers myself. I pay for them to do that. #2 I would suggest that customer service goals be implemented for your group. In addition to offering people water and coffee, it should be plain to understand that if a simple part is needed, one of your workers or even your "VALET" should run and get it. ESPECIALLY IN A RAINSTORM. I might suggest having an umbrella or two handy as well. I cannot express to you my frustration with dealing with these parts of your organization, including being met a second time by your "Supervisor" who completely forget that he spoke with me just a few moments earlier when he wanted me to schedule a 2nd meeting with you in order to close a deal, and get my business. That will not happen. This lack of attention to the customer would be why I would not want to choose your organization to procure a new lease. My experience at your facility tells me as a customer, that you not only don't want my business, but your organization actually wants to repel me, and those that are like-minded, away from leasing with your company. i found a used Ford Escape at this dealership for my daughter. We drove 45 minutes in the pouring rain to go see the vehicle. It was listed at 13,900. Only to get there and have the salesmen tell us the price was upwards of 21,000!! He claimed there was fine print that made the price go up to over 21k. I asked him to show me where there was fine print, he couldn't produce it. This is a slimy dealership that everyone should steer clear of. Someone obviously screwed the price up and then came up with some bullshit when we went to buy the vehicle for the price that was advertised. read more
