Here is an update to the last review. 13 calls and finally an answer to be told let me call you tomorrow with an update. I asked is there a reason why you cannot get back to me today. It is only 2pm in the afternoon. Finally, get a call they found the issue, and it will take a few more days. But no, days past and now there is not one but a few more issues. Due diligence will not allow them to not let me know 3 weeks after having my car now you find stuff. Of course, this will take more time and money since they have to order these parts. I guess it is my fault, loyalty vs stupidity to work with a mechanic for more than 15 years on more than 10 cars with different family members. Not once was there a repair that was done timely given diagnostic, and ordering parts. Just think that was before tariff issues. Each repair requires ridiculous amounts of time. Service is not a premium and my time is not valued. Should it be? read more

Wooo first review, here it goes Brought my 2008 Audi S5 here for a carbon cleaning. For those somewhat versed with this car, they're notorious for having Carbon Build-Up within the intake valves. They did the job fast and efficiently in less than 24 hours for $800, a very reasonable price considering all the other quotes I received from other places in the NJ/NY area were upwards ~$1000. They also replaced the oil housing gasket free of charge while they were at it. The employees were nice and overall customer service was great. I can say I would be going back to this place for any maintenance myself I can't do for my Audi. read more

Living and especially driving in jersey is a love hate relationship. Hate occurs when I run over a crater sized pothole that's probably been there unrepaired for 2 years then wonder "am I in times square??!!" as I pass by 10 cop cars lurking about in a super safe and quiet 100k median family income neighborhood on a Saturday night. Love happens when I find gems like Drive auto works in Mountainside. Just down the hill from my work I found this shop via the APR website that recommended them as a legit apr tuning shop. I stage 2 tuned my audi s5 here and they did such an awesome job I had them do other jobs on my rides including tints and a stereo interface install on my acura. The staff here is great from the owner/ manager Dion to the mechanic that worked on my car, Ben. Very upfront, always willing to let me bring the car in for a check after they did work and Ben was cool enough to let me hang around and ask my noob car enthusiast questions while he worked. Their specialty is tuning vw/ audis and I can certainly vouch for their work. Also from asking around, the price point for the tune was great - around $500 or so cheaper than Douglas VW in Summit, not to mention they squeezed me into their schedule easily while Douglas told me they would have to order parts and wait weeks. This is a high volume tune shop on its game. They also do a lot of other work including tints, oil changes, exhausts, audio stuff etc. They did a nice tint on the s5 for me at around market rate - $350 with the sunroof. Was the craftsmanship as good as the best tint shops such as leeberbs? Very close but not quite. My friend who got his tints at Lees has the tint super smooth looking and wrapped all the way to the edge of the windows - it looked oem. Still, they did a great job at drive auto, definitely not a cheap/ poor quality tint. When I had some lingering bubbles on one window Dion told me to wait a few days and that they would redo that window if it didn't go away. That's standing by their work and taking care of customers! Turns out a few days of warmer weather fades away all the bubbles. read more

Drive Auto Works is a first class organization. I have used them twice for APR work on my VW R. The manager both times took his time answering all my questions and educating me on the performance add ons I was interested in purchasing. The workmanship is incredible, car drives like a dream. Most importantly after the work was completed DAW was there for any questions I had after the sale which I find indicative of the quality of service DAW provides. I did my own 35,000 mile service on my Audi Q5, but I couldn't reset the service due warning because I don't have a Vag-com to reset it. Then I remembered seeing this shop by summit rd. ,and took a chance. They were very helpful and reset the service reminder for free and it took only a few minutes to do. I couldn't believe how fast it took to reset it since the shop near my house gave me hard time about it and acted it was a big deal and told me to wait for a call to come back. I've been bringing my Golf R here for several months. Dion is a good guy, straight shooter, and solid on pricing. Another thing that impressed me was that while Dion generally runs the front of the house, he still gets in the shop and gets his hands dirty. I've had these guys fix a couple wheels, install a Milltek turboback exhaust, flash the car with APR software, and install a dogbone mount insert. Kevin has done the majority of the work on my car, and his knowledge and ability is second to none. Can't say enough good things about the shop and the quality of the folks working there. Having been a customer of Drive Auto Works for several years, I was happy to see they opened a second location in Mountainside. I've had a number of different repairs done on my Audi and BMW, including clutch replacement, new control arms/suspension work, tires mounted/balanced, and alignments. Their prices are much more reasonable than the dealer, or other European shops in the area, and they take their time to explain the issues and ensure you (the customer) understand what they're fixing and why. They're a cool group of guys, and very knowledgeable about the European brands (including Porsche, Mercedes, etc.), which has made them my go-to repair shop (and the one I've recommended to countless others). read more
