Good food, good service, quaint vibe, reasonable prices. The last time I was here, it was Maxwell's (pre-pandemic). New owner, and a solid choice for a decent meal that is prepared pretty quickly. The interior is homey; a little kitschy, but sincere and inviting. I got the chiliquiles, adding carne asada. Huge plate comes with three eggs, black beans, fried tortillas, with a dollop each of sour cream and guacamole. The tomato-based salsa is well-seasoned and just spicy enough. The carne asada was cooked medium/medium rare and moist. Very satisfying. I was also happy that our server gave me the option on how I wanted my eggs. I felt scrambled was the call today, and was happy with my choice. Did not partake in coffee (shocker!) because I was already fully caffeinated. The ice-water was fresh and cold. Not that good honestly. Came on Sat 11am ish and there was a line so we waited a bit. Got seated at the bar. I ordered a matcha and the steak and eggs. The matcha is probably the worst matcha I've ever had lol. Watery green powder liquid. I shouldn't have gotten adventurous there and just gotten a normal coffee or latte. The steak and eggs were decent. Good with the tortilla they give. But didn't stand out to me. The menu items are a bit pricey here which is the norm for the area but still. The service was very attentive and great though. I'd probably give it another shot and I bet it'll be better next time. They should just remove the matcha from the menu though. read more

Slow and inattentive service, and highly priced for the quality. Unfortunately, this was a bit of a bust. We came in on a Sunday and expected a wait because of the brunch hour. We were seated after 20 min next to the budding station. Note to diners: it's impossible to hear yourself think at this table because silverware is tossed in and plates are loudly clanking as they're dropped. Our server passed us by repeatedly without even a drink order. We finally placed an order after about 15 minutes. I got an omelette and my husband got the Benedict. We both agreed it was fine - nothing special. My husband's was missing an ingredient listed on the menu description. Basic breakfast to their Chilaquiles, everything and I mean every dish I've ever had is delicious fresh ingredients, served hot, and super fast. I've been coming here since before it was Maxine's (It was Maxwell for 20 years, then Maxines, interesting story that you can ask anyone who works there, and they will be glad to tell you) close to home and a nice morning walk to get my favorite breakfast and always smiling service. Acquaint little coffee shop that looks like you're sitting in someone's dining room and getting family style service. My Dad and I visited this place for breakfast this past Saturday morning. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated immediately. My family and I decided to try this place on Sunday 04/12/26 while stopping by in LA to our roadtrip to Arizona. Although the wait wasn't too bad, the service isn't that great. We had a server that was wearing a crewneck that said something like "waltz". She looked maybe 40s with brunette hair. She was very rude and the way she looked at us and served us just wasn't a great experience at all. She came off a little racist. We are Latino and it just made us very uncomfortable even my 13 year old son noticed right away. She looked at us with like hatred almost, before my son could ask for his drink she seemed to skip him and walked off. We were taken back because the other young lady with blondish hair was very friendly. Overall food is great honestly, very flavorful and everything well seasoned but we definitely didn't feel welcome and that was our only issue but big enough to never come back. Formally known as Maxwell's up until 2020 this location has been a popular breakfast spot for many decades. It can get quite busy during certain rushes, but we stopped in early this morning and did not have to wait at all to be seated. It's quite small on the inside, but they have table, counter, and outdoor seating options. Our waitress was really friendly and everything that we ordered came out very quickly. It is a bit expensive compared to some other breakfast options, but that is most likely due to its location. They have a lot of great options on the menu, but I went with my favorite breakfast dish, which is the Eggs Benedict. I chose the Bomb Benedict because you choose your own protein and I went with the Louisiana Hot Sausage and really enjoyed it. It was pretty spicy with strong flavors and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I just loved the combo overall. I also ordered a Biscuit on the side and thought it was one of the best Biscuits that I've had in a very long time. It was giant, fluffy, and everything that I hope for when ordering a Biscuit.
