February 18, 2026 | Before a day of running errands and shopping, Killer Cafe crossed my mind, as I've been wanting to try the café! Today was the day and oh my goodness, did it make a memorable impression! Killer Shrimp Breakfast Burrito | The flavor of it all had me at first bite! Shrimp, avocado, eggs and some sauce that I can't even describe which was on the side, but it's delicious! Yes, there is quite a wait for the burrito to be made, but trust me, it's worth every single second! I highly recommend this burrito and I've been thinking about it ever since! Customer Service | Incredibly friendly and helpful with the menu! At first, I was just going to get a breakfast burrito that I heard was delicious, but when he mentioned the Shrimp Burrito as an option, it was an immediate yes!! Next-Door Neighbors | Killer Shrimp is right next-door! I've also been to this restaurant number of times and love it! View & Seating | Yachts, Boats, The Marina! Used to be a favorite go-to spot but kinda going downhill. Found a hair in my burger today. They remade it, but there was zero apology and no credit for the mishap. He instead held up the hair THAT LITERALLY CAME OUT OF THE BURGER AND INTO MY MOUTH then tried to analyze it. Ive worked customer service for well over a decade and this is never the proper way to handle instances like this. I asked to order eggs for the pup and the waiter said two eggs then I stated I wanted what was here for just the $4/5. When the bill came i was charged $8 for two eggs. On past few visits, coffee was added to a bill where Id only had soda. Though I usually order coffee here on those days I did not and it was added to my bill anyway. Love and service is in the details but lately this is slipping. On one other occasion one very sweet waitress brought me a carafe of coke that the staff then tried to take off my table because they're not allowed to do so. That should've been a conversation with the waitress but instead it was not and made for another disappointing experience. We are visiting from Las Vegas, Stayed in the area and picked Killer Cafe for breakfast. Killer Café truly lives up to its name. We enjoyed some absolutely delightful French toast and a very solid loco moco with a unique, thoughtful twist. The breakfast offerings are excellent overall, and it's easy to see why this spot is a local favorite. The restaurant was clean, welcoming, and the service was outstanding. We did have a small issue with our order, but Pedro handled it with professionalism and genuine care, making sure we felt completely taken care of. A great experience from start to finish. read more

Great brunch spot near Mother's Beach (we parked in that lot and walked to the restaurant). I don't like shrimp, but since their sister restaurant is "Killer Shrimp" and they have their own special shrimp rub (similar, I imagine, to Old Bay seasoning), I figured I should try a shrimp dish. I ordered the Shrimp Benedict, a typical benny (English muffin, poached egg, perfect Hollandaise) plus small, easy-to-eat shrimp. I loved it, especially topped with the unusual hot sauce on the table. I chose a hashbrown as my side - a good-sized, well-cooked patty. My boyfriend surprised the server, and likely the kitchen, by ordering the Thanksgiving turkey dinner (in July). It was a hearty platter with nice breast meat, chunky homemade dressing, tangy cranberry sauce, and a sautéed veg medley (carrots, zucchini, summer squash). We also enjoyed strong, properly made mai tais. We sat outside with a lovely view of a nearby marina. We'll be back! read more

I live very close by in MDR and have been to Killer Shrimp before so really wanted to check out their breakfast restaurant attached on the south side of the building called Killer Café. I will say that the food taste and quality is pretty good although the service was horrible. Inside is very large with a large counter area and booth seating and each booth is very large and could comfortably sit at least six people. There is also a free parking lot attached so parking is really easy. The issue that we had was we arrived at 10:30 for a Saturday brunch. When we walked in the server said have a seat anywhere you like. So we sat in the very first booth, among many other open booths. Many servers passed by us and as well as other employees but no one came to take our drink or food order or even check in with us for over 25 minutes. Finally, the older woman working there came over and said there was a mixup in how they are assigning tables and tried to explain it away, but she didn't even say sorry or offer any consolidation or even make the issue right. One of the other servers overheard this and came over and took our order after waiting about 30 minutes. After that they expedited the order but everything took much longer than it should have. Also, pricing is more expensive here because you are paying for proximity to the water. However, the food quality is not to par with what they charge. I started off with a slice of the Cinnamon Roll Cake and it felt much more like a piece of cake versus a traditional cinnamon roll. It was pretty dense so I would not recommend or order it again. For my breakfast I chose the Killer Shrimp Benedict, which I enjoyed for the most part although my eggs were a bit overcooked and the few pieces of shrimp just really did not fill me up. Overall, I would give this place another try to see if the service was a one time issue given how close it is to where I live. I will say that it is not my favorite breakfast restaurant in the area, but I am going to give it a one more try in the future to see if I just got unlucky during my visit. read more

Killer Cafe/shrimp is right in the heart of the Marina, great views, open clean floor plan, attentive staff. I'm not a seafood guy so we went to the cafe for brunch. This was the go to breakfast place for my friend group in the "BC" (Before Covid) but I wasn't very impressed with the food. For $20 the Chicken and waffles were expensive for the quality. Chicken was small, stringy, and kinda soggy. Waffle was disappointing as well. Shrimp and grits was not up to par with a place that has "shrimp" in the name. The shrimp were rubbery, and it wasn't the normal killer shrimp seasoning, Grits were tasteless and the broth broke & separated. This $20 meal just was sad and sat unfinished. Mimosas apparently were on point though. Everyone in our group got one. Always topped off and glasses stayed filled with a splash of OJ for color. Eaten here a couple of times now I live in area. I attended a celebration of life luncheon for a recently passed friend & coworker this afternoon. We were seated on the patio which overlooks the marina. AWESOME view! The employees were excellent, quick to answer every need. For a group of 35-40, that's not always easy. Service was family style. We had a Caesar salad, seafood paella, baked chicken breasts in a lemon sauce, salmon & halibut filets, grilled vegetables with rice & a spicy pasta dish with a dollop of goat cheese. Okay, this place is AMAZING!! I am a flight attendant, so I'm always trying new places, and an avid "bruncher"...so I'm always trying new places! First off the cafe is so nostalgic. It has that mid-century tiki vibe and is right on the marina with a lovely heated patio. Dark wood, clean, and spacious. Second, the food is incredible! I ordered the Killer Shrimp Benedict and it exceeded my expectations even despite the eponymous "Killer Shrimp". Third and (to me) most important is that it was some of the best service I remember having. Riley was AMAZING: kind, helpful, authentic, and attentive. In addition to this, ALL the employees were lovely. Everyone was happy, laughing and it seemed like a family atmosphere. I can't possibly recommend this delightful cafe any higher! read more

As a traveler in town on business, I loved being able to sit outdoor, right by the waters and boats, with a heater to take the edge of the chill off. Service was prompt and friendly, and I was excited to try the food -- but was pretty let down. There just wasn't a lot of flavor to the breakfast dish I got, which sounded like it would be FULL of flavor in the menu description. (I'm writing this a few days later, and can't remember what it was. But I'm guessing it was a hues rancheros type of thing... and I think it had Chorizo in it! How can that not be great??) The food was cold and not cooked according to my request -- and I figured out why-- the reason is that they just heat old food--- and they don't cook it fresh each time you come in -- they have the food prepared and they just heated it up-- My mushroom cheeseburger was lukewarm and it was cooked well done which I hate --and I didn't figure out what was going on until after I left -- and I was riding in my car --- and I figured it out that they don't cook food there -- they just heat prepared food, --- "even though I'm paying premium prices to have my food cooked for me" and have my food fresh -- and not be served old food that's cooked terribly--- I requested it "rare" and they gave it to me "burned up well done"--- "cooked to a crisp" lukewarm and mushy it was the worst food I've ever received in my life --- I would never eat there again and I would never advise anybody else to eat there again --- and all my friends live in the Marina city club right next-door--- and I'll advise them never to eat there again "as far as the service goes it was world class service l ---"my waiter was the best waiter I ever had in my life" and I left him a big tip--- but I'm really unhappy with the food --- and it was the first time I've ever been there and I'll never go back again--- read more

Killer Cafe was one of our favorite breakfast spots in Marina del Rey before it closed several years ago. Great news is that Killer Cafe reopens on Wednesday, April 10th, for breakfast and lunch. This is an authentic diner experience at the edge of the Marina. We always enjoyed sitting on the patio for breakfast. Indoor seating was also very good. used to come to Killer Cafe a lot, but things have really changed in terms of quality. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes, and they were completely burnt. I asked for a new plate, and unbelievably, the same thing happened again. To top it off, the waiter suggested I add peanut butter to "mask the flavor." Sure, I gave it a try, but then they charged me $4.00 for a tiny amount of peanut butter. Are you serious? At least warn customers of an absurd price a head of time. This place is going downhill fast. The service used to be great, and the food was worth the price. Now it feels like a cash grab with zero attention to quality. Really disappointing. The restaurant looks pretty much the same as before although it's been redone after the flood and looks nice. The service was great. I specifically asked for crispy English muffin and received uncooked English muffin. Pretty much ruins the meal when you have to wait for crispy toast and then reassemble it. They gave my daughter so much hash browns in the middle was raw uncooked or barely cooked. Also felt like they were ready to get rid of us as the big crew came in and needed our table and sat there looking at us. Probably going to go to Nichols Cafe again next time.
