I love this salon! I have seen three stylists here (over the past two years: one moved and then I got an offer for a free haircut to try my new stylist) and all of them were great! Whitney is fun, easy to talk to about what I want and works magic with my hair! Her pre-wash scalp massage is amazing! I love that when I ask, she will make recommendations on products for my hair. I ONLY use Aveda products for my hair, but she only recommends when I ask and does not pressure me. I strongly suggest to use Aveda products if you never have before. The salon is clean and neat, it smells like a spa and has a comfortable waiting space. They always have tea or refreshments while you are waiting. Even my boyfriend who accompanied me once commented on the waiting space and tea (he is not normally a tea drinker). The front desk staff are kind, welcoming, and are a great help with booking. Sometimes, they have bring tea around while your getting your haircut. I've been lucky enough to get a free hand massage many of the times I've been to this salon. They offer the opportunity to review, confirm appointments, and send special offers via email. They do not slam my inbox with emails either. Visit this salon! read more

I am a long time customer and have been happy until today. Because I didn't get to my bang trim (for which I was told an appt wasn't necessary and has always been a freebie) at the exact time I was supposed to, the receptionist caught me on the way out and told me they were charging me for it. She spoke to me as if I were a child. It was embarrassing and tacky. Not sure I will go back there. 10/15/11 (Sat) The Circle C Salon has contacted me, apologized and promised to make it right. Will be more than happy to make another appt with Savannah as long as I don't have to talk to that receptionist again. Apparently she is new and doesn't understand people very well. I am new to Austin. I took a referral for this salon and to see a color specialist named Cassie. The receptionist were incredibly polite. When I met Cassie I liked her. I thought she had pretty hair herself and was hopeful that this experience would be a good one. I was wrong. I went in to have my roots bleached. After 3 hours of being there and tons of product and toner my hair looked pee-yellow. I had my bangs trimmed by another stylist, didnt catch her name, she literally gave me a slanty-face bang :/ I got home and relaized what a diseaster it was and quickly called Chris the manager. I dorve back to the salon the same day to have them fix my hair...another 2 hours. Still looks borderline terrible. This place is a huge front, they are expenisive and I guess justifiy it because they use Aveda Products. Both stylists Cassie and the girl that cut my hair were very mediocre stylists. I have seen and experienced better by far. I will not be returning and am definitely spreading the word not to waste your time and money here. Incredibly dissappointing! read more

Jay did a superb job on my daughter's very challenging hair. It was time for a major overhaul - 7 inches - on her dry, coarse, wavy hair. Jay was confident & professional as she dove in. It's just so great to be spoiled! After an amazing scalp massage and shampoo, I always go for the hot towel treatment for my face. Anastasia always gives me a sassy cut that leaves me feeling ready to conquer the world! You can also count on a nice hand massage and a Bellini or delicious glass of tea. I like to treat myself to some Aveda Shampure shampoo and conditioner as well as a few candles. This month, my candle purchase helped to provide 12 families with 6 months of fresh water! I have been getting my hair cut by Jake at Maximum FX for about 5 years now and I wouldn't go to anyone else! The staff is always very friendly and Jake always does a wonderful job. No one likes surprise fees upon checkout. It makes people feel tricked. It's misleading to quote prices over the phone and not mention that additional salon fees that will be charged. After this happened to me for the second time, I said something to the person at the front desk (that the fees should be mentioned while giving out prices), but the person just responded by telling me all the reasons for the fees. Jake saved me. I moved to Austin about a year ago leaving a stylist who gave me an amazing hairstyle. I tried 2 other high end salons, with lots of pictures showing the style. Both totally screwed up my hair - not only unable to recreate it but also with a weird mullety style that looked terrible. In both cases, I was compelled to cut my own hair to improve it. If me cutting my own hair makes it look 100x better, you know it was bad. I was gun shy to try again, but after reading the reviews, I tried Jake. My cut is amazing. Even though I still need to grow out the bizarre layers that I cut, he gave me a cut that looks gorgeous and falls so beautifully now. I'm so happy I found him. read more

I had my first experience at Maximum FX Salon today and I have found what I have been looking for! Easy location to get to, good parking, efficient reservation system (txted me a reminder the day of) professional support staff, on time appointment, friendly professional stylist who really seemed to like her job and listened/responded to how I wanted MY hair, good prices, and a hand massage as a happy ending! WOW!!!!! A friend recommended Erika here. I tried to call twice and the man who answered the phone both times (same person I could clearly recognize his voice) was soooo rude! First time I called he was rude and put me on hold indefinitely. I called again today thinking it was a fluke. I told him that I was put on hold last time, he said nothing. I've tried to give this place several chances. It has a lot going for it in that it's an Aveda salon in close proximity to my home, but that's about all it has going for it. The first stylist I tried twice just didn't cut it--no pun intended. She seemed very junior, very timid and just didn't blow me away with the haircut or blow out styling. Another friend referred me to a different stylist there. My first visit went well, and I actually booked a follow up. That's when things turned ugly. The stylist I booked with, Juan, left the salon, but no one at the salon saw fit to call and tell me this fact. Even my day before reminder call from the salon, no one mentioned that I would not be seeing Juan for my cut and highlights. The only reason I found out in advance was I called to see if I could move my appointment up, and I was greeted by awkward silence when I asked if Juan had an earlier openings or cancellations. They booked me with another stylist that I had never seen and I find that absolutely unacceptable. The owners ought to be embarrassed about how they handled a stylist leaving. Maximum Fx was most certainly not professional or customer-focused. I'll be looking elsewhere. read more

I've been a loyal customer since 2007 because I absolutely LOVE my stylist, but if it weren't for her I would go elsewhere. My hair is thick and pretty challenging to cut and the styles that work for me require precision. So I stick with this place mainly because I've found the perfect stylist match. The location is also convenient for me. And I do like their new earlier morning hours. However, other aspects of the Maximum FX experience have deteriorated over the time I've been going. The front desk staff seemed fine at first and I would recognize the same people each time, but more recently they seem to have constant turnover. Now they often are disorganized about scheduling, and sometimes they've acted confused or just plain clueless about the services offered. Several interactions have even been rushed, unhelpful or rude, especially over the phone. Also, I've grown really tired of the super heavy fragrances of the Aveda products, so much that I usually wash my hair the same day after my appointment to get rid of it. And their online booking system is lousy. The great haircut is the most important thing to me, so I'm totally compromising on the rest. read more

She was very careful about where she put the wax, i hate it when it gets all over or gets in your eyelashes... but she was really meticulous and explained exactly what she was going to do. This place is amazing! After missing a blowout appointment at another salon before my friend's wedding, my boyfriend came to my rescue and found this awesome salon that had a perfectly timed appointment before the wedding. The price was right (cheaper than the other blow outs in the same area-$38), they offer a free spa treatment while your hair is being washed, and they did a great job. They even gave me a free hand massage and lipstick application while my hair was being done. A couple weeks later I got a thank you note from my stylist that was personal and sweet--even though I live out of state. I highly recommend, especially if you enjoy the Aveda brand. read more

I've been coming here for years, but this last appointment was for my daughter to get a cut/style before her senior pics. She was very stressed that morning, running late and having a lot of trouble with lashes she doesn't normally wear. Makenna and the front staff were SO kind to her. Makenna let me help her fix a lash while they were shampooing and they offered to touch up makeup if she needed it after. By the time she was done, she was smiling and relaxed. The salon is well run, with a friendly staff. Always smells nice because of all the Aveda products. Michael has been cutting my hair for about two years now, and I think he's awesome. I always like the way my hair turns out (and he's styled it both short and long), and I've gotten lots of compliments on it. Michael's easy to talk to and always asks before putting finishing products in my hair (which can get weighed down with them pretty easily). Plus, the price is right, and it's simple to make an appointment online. I highly recommend this place! read more

This is a great salon. If you live in the area, it is a great location. It is an Aveda salon which is perfect if you love their products (like I do). The service is great - you can even book an appointment online. My first appointment was on a Saturday morning. I was serviced right away. They offer refreshments such as tea and water. My stylist was Anastasia. She was great - duplicated the cut I wanted and I was very happy with the result. It is also fairly priced. If you look into booking an appointment online, there are various prices based on which stylist you chose, but a haircut is $40 and up which includes an excellent shampoo, cut and blow dry style. I was greeted and the door held open for me, immediately helped by the front desk, and given a nice cup of comfort tea. The stylist was right on time, and listened carefully to my requests. I really like going to this salon. It offers the typical Aveda salon experience. For example, you get to pick out a little extra treat with each service, like a hot towel wrap or cooling eye treatment, and they give you a hand massage. The staff is very nice and friendly for the most part (I've had 1 lady be less than friendly). I would recommend you purchase their preferred membership package for even more value, like discounts on services and products and a free shampoo/blow dry every month. They recently extended their hours, which is nice. My only personal suggestions for making it just-about-perfect are that I wish the shampoo area was a little quieter/more relaxing and I wish it was a no-gratuity salon. Otherwise, top notch! read more
