On Wednesday night, we realized that another chocolate cake was already on order for Friday. Called Max early Thursday to change my order and it was not a problem. I called to order a cake and was talking to an employee to order a birthday cake and someone go on the phone and in a very bitter, sarcastc tone told me if he got an order for a wedding cake on the very same day, since the birthday was on a Saturday, my order was not profitable enough for him to fill and would be cancelled so he could make more money on the wedding cake. So disappointed in this business. My aunt and I were highly recommended to come here by a venue. We are planning my grandma's memorial service and came to inquire about desserts. We asked the young man, Luis, behind the counter several questions and he was not helpful. We asked what the most popular items were, flavors, etc. and he was so short with us and acted as if we were a burden for asking. He had no people skills and was very insensitive. It's hard enough dealing with what we're going through and having terrible customer service made it worse. We let him know what the occasion was and he did not offer any help or any kind of sympathy. He took down my info and order and said we'd get a call the next day. I never got a phone call. I've been trying to contact the owner before posting a review but no response. This breaks my heart as my grandma was a loyal customer before she passed away and we wouldn't love to serve her favorite pastries. My aunt also was a loyal customer but will not be returning. I was in first trimester of my pregnancy with my second and I was taking medication for my nauseous just to get through the day. Max was busy, but he did come out from the kitchen to speak to me. I reminded I'm one of his big client's sister in law again (I ordered cake from him in Oct 2017 for the first time since we moved back in September 2017, and I ordered a week before my daughter's 3rd birthday as well) He told me he is very busy with the wedding cake, and he is not going to out thousands of dollars worthy of wedding cake on the side but working on my $30 worthy of birthday cake. And also he said I need to respect his work even though I'm labalaba'z sisters in law. I show the picture of the cake I wanted for my girl over the phone, it was a face of Vampirena. And I told him I just want a yellow cake. Just need the cake looks purple outside and put a little chocolate for eyes and mouth. He asked me "is this your daughter's first birthday?" I was confused but still answered "No". And then he continued "so you should always know which day is her birthday right?" I was like what does that even imply? I needed a cake made for my boyfriend's birthday and decided to go through this bakery since they supply the pastries we serve at my own workplace. Once I submitted a request for a custom cake I heard back promptly and my cake was ready at the time discussed. I had sent a photo of what I wanted it to look like (which was admittedly a pretty simple design to begin with) and it came out perfect! The guy at the counter was new so he could not answer most of my questions but he was nice enough to say come back later to get better answers. Went there for the first time and the young guy that helped me was very helpful, great costumer service from him. But a man came from the back who I believed the owner/baker and he gave me a look like if I am bothering him, didn't even smile or said anything when he was hearing that I was new in there ( I think should've been the opposite reaction. As a business owner we have to make costumers that we acknowledge that it's their first time and at least put a smile and say " thank you for visiting us" or something) then when I'm paying he comes back out with money (change for the register) in hand and with an "oh god" look on his face opens the bag to see what I was buying and he just put it back , finished my debit transaction like if he was very irritated. Pushes the bag towards me and leaves with out saying "thank you" or anything.
