I don't leave many reviews unless they are outstanding or very horrible everything else I believe is basic normal experiences. I bought a rim for my son's car Audi S4 and the center bore didn't fit. I needed the tire dismounted so I can return the rim. On 3/4/25 at about 4:45pm I called Mavis thinking I called the Thorndale PA location not realizing that I called Chester Springs location who Amanda was very nice. She gave me a price for $26. Five minutes later she called me back and left a voicemail saying that she checked with her boss and he said that it's only a dismount so there will be no charge. Having the rim in my van I proceeded directly to the Thorndale location. The manager a tall light skin complexion reddish hair man met me at the door and I told him what I needed thinking he remembered that I just called I let him dismount the tire. I waited with a $15 tip in my hand for the Technician who did the work. When he returned after dismounting the tire he gave me an outrageous charge of $38 dollars. I asked what happened to the no charge and he said we charge for everything here. I played the voicemail that Amanda left saying there will be no charge and he said he didn't believe that was a Mavis employee and Mavis charge for everything. Regardless $38 dollars is price gouging for taking a tire off the rim a 5 min job. I payed him and the Technician put the rim and tire in my van and I gave him a $5 tip and I left. After leaving and returning home I looked at my receipt that said "Service performed was a break adjustment." See Photo," I had the rim in my van they never touched my car let alone my son's car who the rim belonged (Fraud and no charge in Mavis computer for dismounting a tire from a rim). I called Chester Springs location and thanked Amanda and her boss for being pleasant and honest and let her know that I will bring all of my family's business to the Chester Springs location. I Will never recommend or have anything good to say about the Thorndale location. I just bought two cars one for my 17 year old son and one for my 17 year old daughter and was looking to find a good shop for tires, brakes, and oil changes for them to get use to handling that kind of business for themselves. The Thorndale Mavis is not a good place to go. They price gouge and have no idea on how to build clientele or business. It's the principle that he charged almost $40 to take a tire off a rim and gave me a bogus receipt that wasn't even about the job performed. That $38 will cost Thorndale Mavis Thousands of dollars of future business from me and my house hold. Price gouge 1 time or hundreds multiple times which is better? Remember the Movie "Lion King" when the young lion wanted to rush down and get one animal and the older lion told him to ease down and get all the animals. STAY AWAY!!! RUN!! This place is a $hitshow to say the least! Came in for 2 tiress. 1 was under road Hazzard and the other was needed. (CHARGED WAY TOO MUCH BUT THATS ANOTHER STORY) Where do I start?! 1st, my tire sensor was damaged by THEM. I was then ASKED 'was your TPMS light on'??!! Then he says "O didn't think so, my Mechanic did it and doesn't want to admit it"! Fast 4ward, car is finished​. I pay, leave and get home to realize NONE of my TPMS are reading! They didn't reset. So, they do that. I leave and next day I realize.....they DIDNT RETURN my wheel lock!! I return.....and boy oh boy....did all hell break loose. Arguments between Manager and his charge, etc. After back and forth because nobody could find it, I was them told to return the next day and they would have brand new Lexus Nuts and key free of charge. Oh, and the BIG Manager would be there too! Oh joy. Well, I return and when I arrive, the Manager I dealt with didn't even look at me. Seen me comn. Says "be with you in a minute sir". Then, him and the 'BIG' Manager spoke WITHOUT THE CLOWN EVEN COMING TO SPEAK TO ME....THE CUSTOMER WITH THE ISSUE! Then, DERRICK ( Initial Manager) tells me that his boss wants ME to go to Lexus dealer AND BUY NEW 1's and they'd reimburse me?!! Oh, HELL NO!!@ I AINT DOING SHIT!!! Tell HIM I WANT TO SPEAK WITH HIM!!! This IDIOT was beginning to explain how he "spoke to everyone I. The shop and they said"......before he gets out his LIE, the Mechanic walks in WITH MY KEY!!!! this place is a rip off! They charge me $100 for an oil change when I pay 40 at another one of their locations closer to where I live! They didn't top off my fluids. In fact, they told me they don't stock washer fluid, which is ridiculous and unheard of for a garage! And they left a whole bunch of sticker residue in the corner of my windshield and never replace the oil change notice sticker. I will not come back here. My father came in today 8/11/2024 and the worker Michelle was very nice and helped my father out. He said it was very good customer service and they were fast. He does not remember the mechanics name but Michelle recommended him. He did a fast and nice job with fixing the tire bead that was leaking on his car. Purchased a replacement tire for $202 from Mavis in Red Lion, PA when I got a flat in my previous tire. Had the tire for a few months with less than 10,000 miles on an 80,000 mile tire and when it started making noises while driving I took it to my mechanic who diagnosed the noise as a problem with belt separation on the tire itself - a defective tire. When I called they said the only way they replace a tire is if you purchase a warranty at time of purchase. So even if it had happened the same week I purchased it, you would need to have purchased the insurance, even for a defective tire. Didn't matter. Sheesh!! Nothing else was wrong with my car itself to account for the problem. Never going to Mavis again. Poor customer service. read more

I brought my car into Mavis first thing on a Saturday (9am) to get a flat changed that they knew about. They had previously helped me get the spare on, which also blew out on me within 5 hours. Around 9:30, Ricardo calls me over and says "So, tell me the story" (??). I explain to him how I got the flat (I hit a broken section of road/ pothole after a bad storm) and he says "you can't be off-roading!!". Yes because I went off-road on purpose.... he tells me that they can't put the new tire on because my control arm is damaged. They order a new one with permission and tell me it will be fixed before closing at 5 on Saturday. I don't hear from them until I check in at 2:30 and I'm told "we'll be working on it soon". Check in again at 4:30 and am told "the tech can't seem to get the part to fit, I needed him for another project so we'll stay after hours to finish your car and have it for you tonight." Ricardo calls again at 6 and tells me that my car isn't the reason it doesn't fit, but that the part is wrong. He needs to order a new one and it won't be in until Monday. Rental places are closed. I have work Sunday. Excuse me. What? You knew at 4:30 that the part didn't fit, decided to do something else until after hours and are just NOW telling me that you need a new part. And want ME to solve the problem of not having a car for another day? No thanks. Eventually he got the control arm to fit and still charged me almost $400. Imagine that. Needless to say I'm getting my car looked at my someone else and Never going back. read more

I was told they had a specific tire which had a rebate over the phone and when I got there they informed me I was given the wrong information but had an alternate tire that fit my vehicle. No rebate of course. Then I found out they charged me $112 for an extended warranty on tires I did not ask for. Very underhanded. I recommend skipping this store and going to Firestone or Goodyear. read more

10/13/2022: Unfortunately, calling you or reaching out via Social Media did not help, Mr. Mavis. We called the number, as requested, and after speaking with John (Regional Manager), we felt pretty hopeful that things would be resolved. However, after John looked into the situation, he stopped calling; stopped taking calls. We have not heard anything about our damaged car in months. They say is its not their responsibility since they didn't do it, but the car was in their parking lot under their care, and no one can prove to me they DIDN'T do it. So, to sum up: we took our car to Mavis (Thorndale), it was damaged in the parking lot while in Mavis' care (over $1100 of repair), and they refuse to take any responsibility (or to even speak to us). Be careful, because with "Discount" in the name I guess it means product AND responsibility. Not a company to trust. read more

We brought our new to us (used) Jeep in for its first oil change. Once they got it on the lift, they noticed a severe oil issue that obviously was there when we purchased the vehicle. They took pictures and advised us to contact the dealer. They took the time to type a detailed report that we could take to the dealership explaining what the issue and the safety danger it posed. They even took the time to top off the Jeep with a quart of oil (free of charge) so we could get the car back to the dealership so they can (hopefully) rectify the issue. I'm more than pleased with their service and professionalism. I will be bringing my other vehicles to get serviced at this location because of the care they took with the Jeep, and they went out of their way to ensure our safety while we returned the car to the dealership. ZERO STARS. DO NOT GO TO MAVIS IN THORNDALE. I had an appointment at this place at 4:00 today. I received a voicemail earlier today stating they had to cancel because the machine was down. The voicemail was a little distorted so I called back to confirm. By the time I called back, the machine was fixed and my appointment was still on for 4:00. I showed up at my allotted time only to be greeted by the mechanic Paul that tells me "Sorry we can't do the inspection today". I asked why not and he said "Because it's raining and there's a storm coming in". Blown away by that reasoning I said "I've never heard that. Does that go for everyone?" He said "Yes. If we do the inspection and the weather is like this they will shut us down. We can't do any inspections if it's raining, sleet, hail or snow". I got in my car and left before this became a bigger issue. Save yourself the headache of dealing with Paul. He isn't a mechanic. read more

Purchased (4) tires to be installed on Jan 6 2021. Left the business after the install about five minutes into the drive i notice a klunking noise coming from the rear drivers side. I called the business and they td me to bring it back. The service person installed the weights too high on the rim and they were hitting the hub. Today Jan 7 2021 i am driving about 60MPH down the 30 Bypass and the front end starts to vibrate and the TPM system chimes and the dash light is lit..i take it back. About 30 minutes later I'm told the vibration is gone but the light is still on but will turn itself off..the front end is still vibrating at 60MPH and the TPMS is stll chimimg and is lit. 01/08/2021 - I want to thank Tim W the regional manager and Matt at the Morgantown location for correcting the problems not addressed by Thorndale. Will definitely make Morgantown my go to for service. read more

I wanted to get an oil change for my daughters' car. I took it to Mavis in Thorndale. The car had no issues before the service. The technician admitted that they spilled oil while servicing the engine. When my daughter started the car it had an engine code. She was told to let the engine run until the oil burns off. The code remained. The oil damaged one of the sensors. I replaced the sensor . Code is gone. Mavis told me there is nothing they can do. I will not use this location ever again. Disgusting. Mason and Chris are liars and like to break your car then give it back to you broken and then refuse to fix it. Also watch out for Mason, he likes to steal your personal information for his own personal gain/benefit. Put brakes and rotors plus tires among other things, lied and told me nothing was covered under the warranty (I have a bumper to bumper premium extended warranty) told me $1,900 for everything but after all was said and done charged me $2,400 instead. Car shakes something awful but they refuse to do anything and just want to charge me more. I took it in 4 other times after that and Chris and Mason INSISTED it was a tire balance issue and kept rebalancing the tires each time I brought it in which if it didn't fix it the first or even the second time, why would it fix it 2 more times after that? Car never shook until I took it to mavis. Chris also botched the alignment and told me it was fine even tho the paper still had everything in the yellow and red which is unacceptable. Not to mention if you're a female they will belittle you and treat you like you are incompetent just because you are a female. I took it in just yesterday and still not fixed and all Mason wanted to do was take all my tires off and rebalance them again!! Like seriously?? Save your time, save your money, save your car, save your sanity and go anywhere other than Mavis! read more

My daughter took her car here for an oil change. As she drove up an employee said you need new brakes. We expected that as my husband works on vehicles and usually does all the work he can without a lift. I heard metal to metal as well. So my daughter calls me and said that her car needed new brakes, rotors, a strut, a spring and four new tires. My husband was out of town and I figured it would be easier to just get it all done at once. They quoted her $1,900. That's a lot of money. But when she went to pick her car up she was told $2,340!! So I had to get their credit card to pay for it. But you quote a customer a figure then say it's $400 higher AFTER the work is done?! They should've called to discuss this huge difference BEFORE doing the work. Even worse is as soon as she drove it on the bypass it was shaking which it hadn't done before. She took it back the next day. They checked the balance on the tires and adjusted them and said it was good to go. NOPE! Again it was shaking on the bypass. She went back again and they again checked the balance on the tires.They argued with her that she didn't know what she was talking about and pretty much said it's not messed up and you're imagining it, then offered her coupons to come back!!! Said it was fixed. NOPE!! She took it back a third time and those two employees said it was because of the new tires because they're a hard tire and need broken in! Another employee took a ride with her and said it's not the new tires. He checked the alignment which was done when the tires were put on and guess what? The wheel alignment was off!! My daughter got the read out and it had not been done properly! Hello...it's a tire place! They also once again checked the tire balance. You'd think by this time they'd have gotten it right. But NOPE!! The shaking ensued. So we took it to a Ford dealer and guess what?! The freaking tires were off balance!! Cost me another $117!! She contacted Mavis in Thorndale and told them. Their response was you should've brought it back to us to fix but since you went to a third party we aren't able to look at it anymore! Seriously?! Holy cow they had it THREE times and couldn't fix it!! I can bet they told her she needed more repairs than her car needed too. When my husband gets back he will check to make sure they actually replaced the parts they said they did and that they actually needed replaced. If anything is fishy I will be contacting a lawyer. Worst and most costly experience ever! Never going back there and will be sure to tell others to avoid this place like the plague. read more
