I've had some basic services done here. Did good work, seemed like good people. I brought in an older car to have the brakes checked to see what was needed. Car is older and has 140k miles. They came back and said it would be $3000 for the brakes. Just the brakes. The car isn't even worth $3000. I declined. They charged me $300 to release the car saying that is the charge to inspect the car. No work done, $300. Will never return to this place. Lost a customer for life. read more

Allan and the guys at Maclane's were wonderful. I'm new to PA and they explained the required inspection process after registration which I had never previously experienced. I arrived shortly before lunch and one of the team members worked through lunch to reduce my wait time. Upon completion they explained the results and attached the resulting stickers. Being new to the area they also gave me suggestions as to places to eat and visit. Overall just a great experience ... one that I will repeat annually! read more

I really give anyone five stars, no company or organization does everything right. However, they come close. Customer service is good, the workmanship is good too. The pricing is high, but it is close to reasonable. I would recommend this auto place. Footnote: I have been taking my car to the dealership for five years, and I have never got a complete service. I will not take my car anywhere else but here I did excellent job on getting my vehicle ready for a long trip I feel secure and safe driving it my vehicle. I have a Prius that was parked for three years. I gave it to my daughter when she turned 16. I wanted a SAFE ride for her. I am certain I have it. If you want a real estimate and quality work, this is your garage. I do most of my own maintenance, but I know when I need an expert. I wanted to be sure this car was safe! They did exceed the estimate by $5. Yet the final bill was $400 less than the nearest bid. Why? Honest and quality work! This is not my first rodeo. Been a customer here for over a year now and wanted to leave a review on Yelp as well. I have a Toyota Camry that I bring to Maclane every time it needs work done on it and each time I've left I've left happy with the job done. Maclane and his team are fantastic and always take time out to educate me on what's going on even though I'm not a car guy. I live 25 minutes away in West Chester which is filled with mechanics and auto shops but I still choose to drive so far out of the way because I believe in the quality of work done here. My husband handles all things automotive but he's out of town. I noticed my oil light on, called Maclane's to explain that I have to drive out of state tonight. They checked my oil, added what was needed, made sure my car was safe for the trip. And they didn't charge me a dime! I am not a customer, they don't know me at all. My dashboard reads that my oil is at 60%, but the red oil light that popped up this morning disagreed. I checked my dipstick twice to be sure and guess what I had no oil left in the car! I called Maclane's this morning and explained my problem. They told me to come in to get topped off, and they could schedule an oil change for me. Not only did the top me off, they also checked under my engine and inside to make sure I didn't have any leaks. Once the mechanic finished topping off the oil in my car and checking everything one more time, I went inside to pay only for the gentleman behind the desk to say I was all good to go! I scheduled my oil change before I left. I was in and out in no time. I was even able to get to work on time as if there were no problem to begin with. Please understand that they weren't helping me out because I've been a loyal customer for a long time. I have never taken my car there before. I have never even stepped inside their office before. We found Maclane's based solely on the positive reviews and have to say they were all correct! He was able to fix my truck after needing a tow with very little notice. He was completely honest about what he thought the problem was, explained exactly what he did, was reasonable in cost, and was willing to stay late until he finished. We can't say how appreciative we were to have found Maclanes. On top of that, he looked at my wife's car on the way out because she was having unexpected heating issues. Highly recommend! read more

I was driving to work at 8:30 AM, and my car started to overheat and I panicked. My first reaction was to pull over, and oddly enough I just happened to be in front of Turkey Hill in in Downingtown, and saw the Maclane's Automotive sign! I pulled into the parking lot, and ran into Maclane's. I was immediately greeted by Maclane (who I had no idea was the owner until later), and he came outside to look at my car. He popped my hood, and found the issue. He informed me that my car was unsafe to drive, and offered to shuttle me to work, which was about 8 minutes away. Now, I was pretty skeptical at first, because a young woman doesn't just hop into cars with anyone, let alone a man she's never met before. But, he was very polite and accommodating, and even gave me a brief overview of his resume on the way. About an hour later, he called me to let me know that they part I needed was in stock, and that he could have it ready for me by the time I got off work at 5. When I got to the shop at 5:15, my car was ready, and he even went over a recommended maintenance upkeep list for my car. This was hands down some of the best customer service I have ever received, and it was greatly appreciated. I will be going back to Maclane's in the near future! read more
