I am amending a recent review that I left. I left McLean's in great stress and went to a different place and was told some very bad things. I chose to believe them. Big mistake. I've been going to McLean since he opened and I loved going there and all his staff. They've never failed me. So I'm taking back the bad rating I left and I'm apologizing. And I'm telling you people that McClain is the way to go. He is thorough and he's amazing read more

First, I just want to commend the team. This was a complex effort and they kept me informed as they did the work. The car runs very well; hope to get a couple more tears out of it (it is 10 yrs old). read more

Love these guys! Very informative and quick. Customer service was great. In and out in one day.

Short story is that I paid $160 for a diagnosis, the "Sales Adviser" (how about "service" rather than "sales") recommended something for $2k that was unnecessary - no thanks - problem not resolved, and wanted another $100 for further diagnosis - no thanks. The long story is engine misfiring, paid $160 for diagnosis. Kink in the vacuum hose (couldn't have taken too long to spot), but "Sales Advisor" recommends I also replace all ignition coils for $2k. What? Huh? Are they bad? They don't know, they only checked one of them and it was fine, but what's $2k, right? No thanks, I'll pass on that "sale". Replaced vacuum hose for another $300. But one cylinder is still misfiring. They want another $100 for further diagnosis. I expected that the $160 (not a cheap diagnosis price) would cover a full diagnosis, not a first pass diagnosis. I declined. I'd rather take my car to a place that does what is agreed upon and doesn't have a "Sales Adviser" who tries to sell me unnecessary things. read more

I started bringing my 2015 Jetta to Maclanes back in the spring of this year in what a difference in the pricing as before, I used to bring my auto to a dealership too expensive at a dealership and I have had my vehicle at both McLean's in area and both have exceptional customer service and they give you first hand correct pricing of your auto's issue read more

I've had some basic services done here. Did good work, seemed like good people. I brought in an older car to have the brakes checked to see what was needed. Car is older and has 140k miles. They came back and said it would be $3000 for the brakes. Just the brakes. The car isn't even worth $3000. I declined. They charged me $300 to release the car saying that is the charge to inspect the car. No work done, $300. Will never return to this place. Lost a customer for life. read more

Allan and the guys at Maclane's were wonderful. I'm new to PA and they explained the required inspection process after registration which I had never previously experienced. I arrived shortly before lunch and one of the team members worked through lunch to reduce my wait time. Upon completion they explained the results and attached the resulting stickers. Being new to the area they also gave me suggestions as to places to eat and visit. Overall just a great experience ... one that I will repeat annually! read more

I really give anyone five stars, no company or organization does everything right. However, they come close. Customer service is good, the workmanship is good too. The pricing is high, but it is close to reasonable. I would recommend this auto place. Footnote: I have been taking my car to the dealership for five years, and I have never got a complete service. I don't feel they break shit just for you to return your car for additional. Good place. read more

This the third time I have been here these guys are very thorough good customer service when they give you an estimate they stick to the estimate it's making me a little lower, but never hire. I will not take my car anywhere else but here I did excellent job on getting my vehicle ready for a long trip I feel secure and safe driving it my vehicle. I think everyone should at least give them a try if you will worth it for $30 back trust me thank you read more

I have a Prius that was parked for three years. I gave it to my daughter when she turned 16. I wanted a SAFE ride for her. I am certain I have it. If you want a real estimate and quality work, this is your garage. I do most of my own maintenance, but I know when I need an expert. I wanted to be sure this car was safe! They did exceed the estimate by $5. Yet the final bill was $400 less than the nearest bid. Why? Honest and quality work! This is not my first rodeo. Here in D Town we have a superb certified troubleshooter who does what he says he will for the quoted price. I can't give any higher rating! read more

Great, knowledgeable crew here. Maclane is a stand up mechanic. Prices were extremely reasonable. I am very happy to have this shop in town. Will definitely become a repeat customer! read more

Been a customer here for over a year now and wanted to leave a review on Yelp as well. I have a Toyota Camry that I bring to Maclane every time it needs work done on it and each time I've left I've left happy with the job done. Maclane and his team are fantastic and always take time out to educate me on what's going on even though I'm not a car guy. I live 25 minutes away in West Chester which is filled with mechanics and auto shops but I still choose to drive so far out of the way because I believe in the quality of work done here. I also never feel like I'm being ripped off or taken advantage of because of my lack of knowledge with cars. Great place and I'll always come back! read more

Went to Maclane's Auto in Downingtown, PA and had a great experience. Maclane took the time to go through my car's issues with me. He explained everything and showed me all the parts that had to be changed and why! A very great and professional experience. I'm happy I took my car to Maclane's and will be doing so in the future. He is worth the drive! read more

My husband handles all things automotive but he's out of town. I noticed my oil light on, called Maclane's to explain that I have to drive out of state tonight. They checked my oil, added what was needed, made sure my car was safe for the trip. And they didn't charge me a dime! I am not a customer, they don't know me at all. Very, very happy to recommend them! read more

This is the ideal experience you want to have at a mechanic. Maclane is refreshingly friendly and caring. I brought my car to him and he gave me an honest deal and took the time to explain anything I was unsure about and gave space to answer questions. He's fast and flexible with appointments. read more

My dashboard reads that my oil is at 60%, but the red oil light that popped up this morning disagreed. I checked my dipstick twice to be sure and guess what I had no oil left in the car! I called Maclane's this morning and explained my problem. They told me to come in to get topped off, and they could schedule an oil change for me. Not only did the top me off, they also checked under my engine and inside to make sure I didn't have any leaks. Once the mechanic finished topping off the oil in my car and checking everything one more time, I went inside to pay only for the gentleman behind the desk to say I was all good to go! I scheduled my oil change before I left. I was in and out in no time. I was even able to get to work on time as if there were no problem to begin with. Please understand that they weren't helping me out because I've been a loyal customer for a long time. I have never taken my car there before. I have never even stepped inside their office before. They are just that nice helping me out the way they did!! Definitely going taking my car here from now on!! read more

Maclane did an oil change on my Charger and he was done quickly and was very knowledgeable and informed me about everything he did and checked on my car. Definitely going here for all of my future repair and maintenance needs. read more

Great service, reasonable pricing. I found Maclane's through a web search and selected them purely on customer reviews. I had both of my vehicles inspected and was very happy with the level of service and expertise. We plan to be repeat customers! read more

We found Maclane's based solely on the positive reviews and have to say they were all correct! He was able to fix my truck after needing a tow with very little notice. He was completely honest about what he thought the problem was, explained exactly what he did, was reasonable in cost, and was willing to stay late until he finished. We can't say how appreciative we were to have found Maclanes. On top of that, he looked at my wife's car on the way out because she was having unexpected heating issues. Highly recommend! read more

Great experience. Maclane sits down and explains everything to you. He doesn't tell you to buy things you don't need. Amazing customer service. read more

Maclane is a kind hearted good guy that always does right by his customers. He is extremely thorough and detail oriented. I would highly recommend his shop to anyone read more

I was driving to work at 8:30 AM, and my car started to overheat and I panicked. My first reaction was to pull over, and oddly enough I just happened to be in front of Turkey Hill in in Downingtown, and saw the Maclane's Automotive sign! I pulled into the parking lot, and ran into Maclane's. I was immediately greeted by Maclane (who I had no idea was the owner until later), and he came outside to look at my car. He popped my hood, and found the issue. He informed me that my car was unsafe to drive, and offered to shuttle me to work, which was about 8 minutes away. Now, I was pretty skeptical at first, because a young woman doesn't just hop into cars with anyone, let alone a man she's never met before. But, he was very polite and accommodating, and even gave me a brief overview of his resume on the way. About an hour later, he called me to let me know that they part I needed was in stock, and that he could have it ready for me by the time I got off work at 5. When I got to the shop at 5:15, my car was ready, and he even went over a recommended maintenance upkeep list for my car. This was hands down some of the best customer service I have ever received, and it was greatly appreciated. I will be going back to Maclane's in the near future! read more

I started working with Maclane last Spring when my Corolla was having some issues and continue to bring my car back for every auto need. Maclane is quick, thorough, and honest. He takes the time to explain everything that is going on with my car and has at times, even taken pictures to help me understand the work that he is doing. I live in King of Prussia and make the trip to Downingtown for my car because I know I can trust and count on Maclane and his staff to do honest work, and do it right. read more
