I learned my lesson about Mavis Tires. We had 4 new tires put on the explorer in February. We had 1 replaced in August when we got a flat. Today I went back to discuss the status of these tires. All 4 are shot. They have 21000 miles on them, but come on. I had purchased the extra warranty and they carry a 40000 manufacturer warranty that Mavis doesn't care about. Was told because I declined an alignment 3 times this year its my fault. I was there 3 times. Once for the tires (Feb). Didn't get the alignment since it didn't need it. The other 2 times were for the tire that went flat to be replaced.....they just swapped the flat tire off the rim and change it. And once for an exhaust leak that they couldn't (or wouldn't) even fix. Why would they ask (they DIDN'T) if i needed an alignment when they looked at my exhaust??? Its so they can check a box in order to deny coverage on a crappy set of tires that I paid $140 a piece for ( so I didn't really cheap out....) Never again will I spend a dime there!!!!! I got a blowout on my way home from lake Ontario and since I didn't have a jack in my truck I had my car towed to Mavis in Rome NY. Super nice and friendly manager and staff who were a pleasure to deal with. No nonsense and no bullshit and even though they could have charged me whatever they wanted they swapped out my flat tire for my spare tire at no charge. Great experience. read more

Kyle was very, very helpful and very, very knowledgeable. He made getting a flat tire in the middle of Rome, not so bad and had me in and out of there with two new tires within a half hour. Him and a mechanic that was there with him Monday 1/22/2024 night (I didn't catch that guy's name, but he was tall) were absolutely fantastic and I will definitely be returning for a couple other things I need done on my car :) You can't find good people, especially at a car shop, like these guys anymore. I came in 5/29/2018 looking to get new tires. I called ahead of time and talked to Frank. I got a good price on the tires and brakes + rotors. It took a bit longer than they told me it would but I was still in and out within a reasonable time, it only mattered to me because it was bleeding into my one-year-old's nap time and she was getting grumpy. Everyone was pretty friendly and helpful. Reasonable prices for the tires, great deal for the brakes and rotors. read more

I went for a simple oil change and I ended up with full set of brakes and rotors My rotors were only 2years old I use to go there all the time NOT anymore! Said my bill would be 457.00 I ended up paying 737.00 time to look for another shop. read more

BAD BAD BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Total Cons for a big chain. This isn't totally about the Rome branch even though they damaged my truck. So here is what happened to me. A year ago my wife brought in my truck to get a rear tire. In the process of putting it on the lift (they pulled in the truck) the technician damaged the right and left rear quarter panels behind the cab with the lift "up and crunch". The manager documented the damage and in the ensuing week tried to force me to go to a repair shop they chose. I went and looked at the business that appeared less than reputable and knew that they would try to shaft me. They then pushed me to get three estimates, which i did. I wanted to take it to Davison Chevrolet which was the high estimate, by $250. $2100 total. After 4 or 5 x's trying to get a hold of the corporate employee in charge of claims with no success, I told them I was going to my insurance. At this point it has been about 5 weeks. I had no trust in them at all, complete shady actions by corporate. Eventually they said that they would only cover the lowest estimate. Mind you I had no fault at all in them damaging my truck. I was afraid if i paid out of pocket I wouldn't get any of my money back. My fears were accurate. I got my insurance to cover the repairs and Geico tried to get Mavis to reimburse us. I was out a $500 deductible. Ironically Davidsons bill was $400 less after the insurance co. got involved. That actually saved Mavis money. Now a whole year later and Geico has to sue them for the claim because they refuse to pony up for their damage to my truck. $1900 is all the claim was. Costumers spent that much on repairs in the store. Mavis as a whole is bad news...... any stores mistake wont be honored by Corporate. Sad. read more

I have used this location for Mavis for years now and have consistently received friendly, professional and honest work. They have respected a scheduled appointment and prices are competitive with all others. For example - once they welded my muffler which had fallen down - for free and in record time I did not even have to be late for work. I went to the Rome, NY store to get a set of tires for my truck. The price I got was $200 higher than anyone else I had priced them through so I asked them what was included that would make it so much higher and the manager tried to convince me that the prices I received everywhere else must be wrong. He also told me that I had to get new valve stems even though I have TPM sensors that are brand new and acted like I had no clue as to what I was talking about. I purchase at least two sets of tires a year for the vehicles that I have (winter and summer). I may not be a certified mechanic but I am far from ignorant to the subject. In the past I have used Mavis many times with mixed results, however, when i asked for a printout of the quote so I could compare apples to apples and try to see what the difference was the manager said absolutely not. That was a first time for me, both at Mavis, or anywhere else. Needless to say I walked out of the store and proceeded to go to another store and purchased the tires for $200 less. Mavis is just another rip off franchise that gets customers to replace parts they don't really need.....i went to them just recently to have my car inspected and they tried to sell me an entire suspension system...the list went on...i just had a recent garage look at it and said it was a little worn but needed the monitors to ready before they can pass it...so when they were ready i made the giant mistake and brought it to Mavis in Rome NY out of convenience. Those people are crooked..they failed me and even wrote down things I discussed with them like it was a deposition...NO SALE!!!!! you bunch of parasites...you wont ever see a dime from me and I will assuredly mention your name in a bad light when ever the chance comes....you will lose way more than you would have gained...be sure of that...Chris S...Rome NY read more

I have had no problems with any of my visits to Mavis. I feel that they are informed, concerned, and that customer service is #1 with them.

This place is good depending who you get. Chris tends to over charge by a lot. If you can go through AAA you'll get a better price. Also there is a guy with a raspy voice who does work without bleeding you dry. Overall, it's not a bad place to take your vehicle, but I wouldn't say they are honest about pricing. read more
