It unfortunately wouldn't let me leave zero stars that's the only reason this business is getting one. On 11/23/25, I went to Mavis for two front tires and asked if they had time to do my inspection. Shortly after, they pulled me into the garage and claimed all four brakes, rotors, and several other parts--including my battery--needed replacing. When I asked for an itemized estimate, they refused, saying they couldn't show me anything until the work was done but they would try to give me a good deal. I requested a temporary inspection sticker so I could take my car to my regular mechanic, and they told me they couldn't because they had already removed my current sticker. I later learned it's illegal to remove a valid sticker before inspection date is expired. They insisted it had expired in June but could not show it to me until they "found" it after I pushed. Even then, they refused to give it to me and hesitated to let me photograph it. They also told me I "needed" new tie rods but would charge me for a battery instead "to save money," even though a battery isn't required to pass NYS inspection and my tire rods were not serviced, nor documented on any kind of paper. In the end, I was charged nearly $2,000 for repairs I didn't want, after they created a situation where I couldn't decline the work. I felt pressured to say yes so I was able to get my car back after they refused to issue me a temporary sticker. I was given a few different reasons why and then lastly told they "misunderstood" what I was asking for when I asked for a 10 day temporary. Their actions were both unethical and illegal. I will be contacting Mavis to resolve this, but I will also be reporting the shop to the DMV. read more

I had my young daughters with me and he made sure that we were taken care of in a timely manner and was very kind to us all. The two tires I purchased seem good and the warranty was a good deal. But I wasn't advised until I got in there that they recommend an alignment for another 120 bucks. I also got 4 reminders and a telephone call to confirm the appointment, which was rather annoying. I don't get that many calls for doctors' appointments! The reason I gave them such a low rating was because a man who came in an hour after me was finished and taken care of 1/2 an hour before me! I had to remind the staff twice that I had waited over two hours and was expected to wait while he made a call for a much more important, according to his explanation, to another customer. The staff he requested to come and help me What's having a rather long-winded, personal conversation with his coworker. Then the car was returned with the seat almost down to the back seat and the pillows all badly arranged. My wife went for NY inspection. They said she needed a new caliper because it was rusty. Rusty ?? EVERY caliper is rusty ! It's the piston inside that matters. They also got her for rotors and pads. Couldn't get in touch with me so she said to proceed. They always take advantage of unknowing people. Shame on them ! read more

My husband and I have been to a few Mavis Tire locations and quite honestly this location was not our first choice. We have had issues in the past but decided to take a chance since we needed to be in Middletown. Our experience at this location was a good one because of HARRY. Harry is their on site mechanic and he KNOWS cars! He was not happy with first alignment after tires were put on ( we left and had to come back because all dashboard lights were on). Harry trouble shot right away and took care of it . He was amazing! Also EJ and the crew were great all working hard. They had a good flow of customers the whole time we were there. Side note: we had serious issues with back brakes which they noticed right away and dealt with along with getting new tires. Very efficient. This team seems to be a good fit and we will return when it's time to deal with our tires again. read more

wish I could give zero stars this place is absolutely terrible went here for two striped lug nuts the guy tells me they're not striped that you need a special tool to get them out or the other option would be to torch them off and replace the lugs ok well what they did was obliterate my lug nuts and rim to the point of now having to replace the hub cap & wheel barring & the manager walks around like a big clueless dummy absolutely horrible & it's a bmw btw oh and not to mention I pretty much have only 3 lug nuts holding my tire so if it falls off be prepared to get sued read more

STAY AWAY!!! I popped a tire over the weekend and these guys were the only people who had the tires that I wanted on short notice. After they got my car lifted up and my tires off they tried to tell me that I needed brand new brake pads and rotors on my back ens despite the fact that I had them replaced just a few months prior. They also told me that the car needed other additional expensive work. I was fairly certain that everything they were saying were lies and I told them so but afterwards I took my car to my regular mechanic just to check up on the things they said, and he confirmed that everything they told me was bullshit. They tried to get me to pay for more than $1000 of completely unnecessary repairs. The two managers Peter and Lou were both involved. While I was in the store there were two other customers there complaining about work they had done. When I took an Uber to a nearby restaurant to wait out the time for them replacing my tires the Uber driver told to me that this same shop had tried to rip him off as well. read more

Called day before to schedule NYS inspection. Told I could make appointment for 9AM tomorrow, or come in later as they would not be very busy. Arrived next day at 11:57. The guy at the front was so rude and kept staring at me acting like he was just waiting for me to leave. This is really the worst Mavis. Scheduled an appointment for my wife's car for a car inspection and after driving 20 minutes to get there me and my wife were told that the inspection could not be done because they were "backed up". How about a call so we don't waste our time. Last week I took my car here for an oil change and an inspection and while they did the inspection they refused to do the oil change on my golf because they did not have the right tools. Made an appointment online for tires. Cost of tires, mounting and balancing where already provided when I made the appointment minus the taxes. After picking my car up 5 hours later, the price was over $120 more. Excuse for overcharge was "labor". That charge is already listed when you book an appointment online and they try to charge you again for something you are already paying for. Not only that , I had a bad vibration in my steering wheel after getting the tires installed. Called to go in and get it checked out and was told they're swamped they wont be able to get to it. I had to go some place else to get my car looked at and was told all 4 tires are out of balance!!. Spent another $70 somewhere else to fix what I already paid mavis todo. Anthony saved us! This place was amazing! We drive a Tesla and we were not in range of tire roadside assistance. The tire pressure light came on, we pulled over and started making calls to who had this tire in stock! Many places didn't even answer the phone! Anthony answered right away, had the tire in stock, he was so nice, cheerful and said come right in and he would take care of us! We filled up the air at an Exxon and drove right over to Mavis! Great experience, it's scary driving without a spare! This experience could have been awful thankfully Mavis was able to change the tire and we were in and out! I highly recommend Mavis!! My tires pressure was low and it was pouring rain today ,all the other places didnt have air. I work in NYC and can not take the chance of driving with low air tires. The alternator installed less than a year ago broke and, even though it was purchased by the previous owner, the Middletown Mavis manager Chris and their regional manager Darren went out of their way to honor the warranty. Even though we couldn't get the car towed back to Middletown, these guys went above and beyond to try to do the right thing. Really great customer service from them. read more

I have had to go to this place more times than I would like to only because they were the closest to me at the time of my car problems. Sadly I have to say that 3 out of the 4 times I've needed to use their services I have felt like I was being scammed or being ripped off in some sort of way. Had an unfortunate experience at Mavis today - unfortunately this is not the first time I've had a negative experience with the Mavis franchise. I made an appointment and the woman on the phone was quiet lovely. Unfortunately the older gentleman behind the counter is not. I showed up a few moments before my initial appointment. The parking lot was a nightmare. Which seems fitting for a business that overbooks themselves. I waited a little over an hour and by the third time I asked the gentlemen for an update he seemed as annoyed as I was. He told me there was no need to be aggressive and that we were all friends. When I had only repeated my name to him three times and become louder on the last response so he could hear me. He told me if I continued to get loud he would put me at the back of the line for inspections to which I at that point DID respond with irritation and stated that he was being unprofessional and to give me my key so I could leave - and I wasn't the first person to leave - I witnessed several individuals become upset when they realized their appointment times would not be honored and instead they would be asked to just leave their vehicles and they would get to them by the afternoon - the gentlemen did not give me my key - to instead walked into the back and another guy ended up getting me my key a few moments later. The second guy was much politer. This will be the last time I ever go to a Mavis. I'm giving them two stars for the other employees who seem to have themselves together even when the stress of the work day seems a bit much. The guy in the front who runs his mouth needs a lesson on etiquette and really shouldn't threaten people with a good time. Sir I don't need to be placed in the back of the line. I showed up at 10am and asked for an inspection, employee told me 3pm would be available so I said perfect I'll come back and we made the appointment. Once arriving at 3pm on the dot, I sat for a1 1/2 hours wile employees played on their phones watching videos and giggling. I noticed there was a few unhappy customers in the shop already which was an instant red flag. Some places have hard working employees and some places just flat out suck when it comes to effort.
