Overall, my experience was ehh, and very inconveniently timely . The service got the job done, but there are definitely a few areas that could have been better. Communication, a status update, wait time could use some improvement, and the overall experience didn't quite meet my expectations. Nothing was necessarily terrible, but there's room for improvement. My first visit ever here was only because I was in a pinch and far away from home. I didn't have a choice, and I was bright and early the first customer to get tires. Worked out great! Today, I returned for a wheel alignment since it had a little discount included. I asked for them to check the tires, since one wheel kept losing air. I was charged for TPMS. They told me nothing was wrong. The moment I left the lot, my car finally tells me theres an issue with one of the tpms, BUT Midas tells me everything is working perfectly fine. TERRIBLE! Before this, I waited 4+ hours for a wheel alignment!! They didnt start working on my car until I stood up and peeked to see if my car is being serviced. I stayed on the lift for 3 hours! FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT! And was charged for TPMS service that Im sure they didn't even check! Not to mention, I don't think they know how to use the alignment machine for my vehicle. Alot of backing up and readjusting the car on the lift for the sensors! Sitting there for 4 hours, I realized I've made a mistake. Overhearing customers complain about the same thing, over priced, not ACTUALLY trouble shooting, and wait times. Absolutely no consideration to updating customers waiting for their car, and a lot of "looking busy". Only 2 guys were ACTUALLY working, out of the 6 I seen this day. I don't think it's a coincidence that my car didn't have any problems before I started going to Midas and stopped having so many problems after I stopped taking my car there. The years between there was issue after issue. Every time I wondered aloud what might be happening to the car to depreciate so suddenly and badly, the guy at the front desk would always say things like there are a lot of potholes in the area or New York uses a lot of salt on the roads causing wear and tear. It still didn't make sense to me as someone who has always driven area roads in NY, but I took their word for it. When I started getting second opinions and they would say something I had just paid thousands for at Midas looked bad or even worse than when they previously saw my car, I realized Midas might be the issue. Midas doesn't reply to messages about fixing any issues they've caused. And, you have to wait all day for even the simplest service there, such as an oil change or inspection. There is always some excuse that there was an emergency. The guy at the front desk is a good talker. Midas will woo you in with excellent work and customer service your first visits, but they then turn to garbage. If you're like me, you might give them a benefit of the doubt because of how great everything was before. Don't be like me. Find somewhere else to service your car. Called need replacement tire .ok 25 minutes time frame. There over an hour and asked why the hood was open for a tire replacement. Im told routine inspection. Its free. No, it was stating what they believe I needed. Said there are photos where I can not access. Said there was no dash light on when I have light for tire sensor on for weeks now. They stereo type as I am a female but if anyone knows me.... I will know more about under a hood of an engine than most of their employees. I will never return there and advise no one else either. My daughter went in for a routine oil change and NYS inspection. What should have been two basic services quickly turned into an attempt to charge her $1,155 for additional, unnecessary work. When she declined the extra services, she was then told her car would not pass inspection and that she needed new tires and a rear windshield wiper. So she took her car to our regular mechanic for a second opinion and were told her tires had at least 10,000 miles left on them and that the only thing needed was a rear windshield wiper and the inspection. The total was nowhere near $1,155. This experience felt misleading and extremely disappointing, especially toward a young customer. I would not recommend this shop based on what she experience. read more

My son brought his car for an oil change and a NYS inspection. They told him that his brake pads were worn and would need to be replaced before they passed inspection for around $700. He didn't have that much with him and told them to forget the inspection. The service manager was very upset that he would not get the pads replaced and was rude. He asked for just the oil change. Well. They gave him an oil change but didn't tighten the screw enough and he was leaking oil for 2 days before he realized there was an issue. Brought the car to a legitimate auto shop who tightened the screw and passed the inspection stating that the brake pads were starting to show signs of wear, but would be fine for months. Way to try to swindle a kid. Never going there again. read more

Technician was supposed to install my tires and ended up stealing from my car. Didn't think that would happen.

Extremely disappointed and frustrated with this place. Brought it in because my car had an oil leak, when they called back they had listed a whole array of problems that I doubt were actually wrong with the car. Totaled my repairs to about $1,600 and persuaded me to sign up for their Midas credit card since I could not afford the bill and I needed my car for work the next day. Looking across my bill, they did not fix anything in regards to an oil leak. They had went on to fix the ball joint, spark plugs, "computerized wheel alignment", and a whole bunch of different fluid changes. Not even a week after, the front drivers side axle on my car snapped in the middle of the road, despite this place having worked on the ball joint which is near the axle. My spark plugs had just been replaced a couple months prior, no way it needed to be replaced (at a hefty $300+ in parts and labor for that alone). When I had gotten snow tires the month after my visit, the tire shop had told me my wheels needed to be aligned and they even showed me the uneven wear on my tires to prove it. Wasn't the $90 computerized wheel alignment from Midas supposed to fix that? Not to mention, my car had never had its oil leak fixed. A week after I started getting the same exact symptoms that made me bring it in (red oil light on dash, low oil shortly after oil change), at first I had thought maybe I just needed an oil change (which is what most shops WOULD do if your oil is leaking), but two months after I had the same exact issue. I had texted David from this store regarding the issue (after he had texted me to follow up on the car) and it went ignored. I had called corporate who promised they'd get back to me in 2-3 days and about 5 days after I have heard nothing back. I ended up trading my vehicle in because I cannot afford to have taken it to a reputable repair shop and I am stuck with this $1,600 credit card that did absolutely nothing to my car and has practically left me broke. If your car needs work, take it somewhere else. Not here. This place is the stereotypical car shop that will find bogus "issues" with your vehicle to milk you out of your money and pressure you into falling for their Synchrony credit card to meet their quotas. read more

Did not have a good experience. Took my husband's car in to get an inspection done, but it failed, so I asked them to let me know whatever needed to be fixed so it would pass and to let me know how much it would all cost. The car was older and we didn't want to put very much money into repairs and only wanted to do the repairs if it was less than a couple hundred dollars. Otherwise, we'd rather put that money into a new car. They said it would be ~$390 for the repairs that were essential to pass the inspection, so we agreed to do it, but that was at the tippy top of how much we'd like to put into the car; no more than that. They kept it overnight and someone was supposed to call me in the morning to let me know when it was done. By 4ish, no one had called, so I called and they said it had been done for awhile, so I waned over to pick it up, and had to wait another 20ish minutes before someone noticed I was there. (Said they couldn't see that I was in the lobby, despite me looking through the windows and waving at people who were working on cars in the back.) Anyway, I rushed out because I was frustrated by how long it took to get the car back, and realized much later that night that after all that, the inspection sticker hadn't been updated! Called the next day about the sticker and they said to bring it over and they'd replace it. So, my husband took it over there on his lunch break, and when he got there, they told him that they didn't update the sticker because it still didn't pass the inspection!! They told him that the issues were so bad that the engine may blow if he continued to drive it and that it needed to have further repairs done right away. We decided it was time to retire the car and buy a new one, because at that point, it'd cost more to fix it than it was worth. We traded it in for a measly $300 at a local dealer and were very sorry we'd paid Midas almost $400 just a few days before because we wouldn't have gone through with those repairs if we'd known it needed more than they'd initially told us. read more

I would give them no star if I could. After my car wouldn't start I had it towed here. I was told it was the starter and it could be replaced for roughly $500 including parts and labor. I agreed to the work being done. Two days later I received a call that the new starter fried my entire TIPM( fuse box) and they wanted an extra $600 to replace the fuse box they blew out. To explain better attached is the email I sent to Midas: My car has been at your Middletown location since Monday 12/30/19. My car was towed to you around 9am. On that day we were informed that the car required a starter. We were told the starter would cost roughly $500. By Wednesday we recieve a call from the shop stating the entire fuse box fried up after you placed the new starter in the vehicle. We were then asked if a PT CRUISER computing component was ever placed in the car because this is what is supposedly reading on your diagnostics. You were informed that no such occurrence has happened to the car. Upon your findings on Thursday you claimed the manufacturer mailed you the incorrect fuse box twice and that the correct fuse box should come by Monday. I called and spoke to Chris the manager. After asking him to explain what was going with the progress of the car he became irritated When immediately I asked that all work be stopped and I would have the car towed off the lot as I believe you are liable for the blown fuse box that is supposed to arrive on Monday 1/6/20. Chris threatened me stating if they put the part in or not I would have to pay for it regardless. I stat i would not and hung the phone up on me. I then called back and spoke to Dave whom is supposedly the branch manager who tried to explain the price influx of $600 for a fuse box you blew that you want us to pay for. It is now Monday 1/6/20 and we were informed their was no part that arrived today and we would receive a call back today on the status. We never received a call back. I would also like to note that I requested all of our dead parts upon completion and was told by Dave that I would have to pay for my own old used dead parts. A total rip off. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. DONT GET SUCKERED! Chris is arrogant and extremely rude and the entire staff price gauge up and cover up for one another. What kind of business threatens a customer that wants their old parts with I would have to pay extra for them???? What kind of business tells you you must pay for a part that wasn't placed in your vehicle yet?? read more

Very awful customer service. Took my truck into get serviced. I was told before they did anything to the truck that the rear differential fluid had to be changed at 50,000 miles. Then when I go back to pick the truck up the guy at the front desk says the truck is 10,000 miles over on the rear end! When my truck only has 40,000 miles on it! I questioned him because that's not what he stated before. He proceeded to talk to my boyfriend and I like we were complete idiots. He also said he told us before we left that we needed it changed (which he never did). He probably doesn't remember because he couldn't focus on just us at all. I have been coming to this shop for a while now for my oil changes and tire rotation that is suppose to be included in the price, last time I was here I wasn't 100% sure they rotated my tires, I had an appt today July 13, 2022, this morning before I left my house, I took a magic marker and marked all 4 tires LF, LR, RF, RR, I ask Chris they are going to rotate my tires? oh yes it's all included, they do my oil change which took 2 hours, they pull my car out and I check my tires and they never touched my tires, I'm here now as I type this review, the car is back up on the lift, now I am convinced they never touched my tires in the past!!!!! I went in to see if I could get a tire patched. I wasn't able to which I was fine with me and I was willing to get the tire replaced. They called me multiple times and tried to tell me I needed four new tires because the one was messed up. In my head that made no sense so I reached out to multiple people and they said it was absolute BS. I then asked them to just put on my spare so I could take my car elsewhere to get repaired and they then had the manager call me to try and convince me to replace my tires. Be very wary of these guys, I came to get an inspection and they said that my break pads had failed. However I just had them replaced just a few months ago. When I had commented on that, the brake pads had mysteriously grown a few milimeters to pass the inspection. How curious. So if you plan on coming to this location make sure you have all of your previous car repair reports so that you can prove they are trying to rip you off. Do not trust the midas touch. read more

FRAUD ALERT! Do Not Use This Shop! Here is a list of items I was charged for that were not completed: 1) Oil change 2) Tie rod end 3) Cut rear rotors 4) Alignment When I realized that I was charged for things that weren't done i called and spoke with a manager who told me to bring it down this weekend so they can check it out and refund my money when I returned for a refund on Sunday, the manager put the truck on the lift and tried to tell me that the old parts were new when it was blatantly obvious they were not. The tie rod was not new, the rotors were still grooved and burnt, the oil was black and low 2 quarts, and the truck still pulls to the right. After pointing all of this out to them they still refused to refund me for the work they never did. The manager insisted that the work was completed and claimed he had video to prove it but could not provide me with any vide evidence or old parts. So at that point I had no choice but to request a refund from my credit card company. So I sat in my vehicle (where the manager parked it) and called my credit card company to report the fraudulent charge. After 30 mins on the phone with my credit card company the manager of Midas came outside and told me he called the police because I was parked in front of the store blocking the door (still in the exact spot where he parked my vehicle). So I pulled the truck into a parking spot, completed my refund with Capital One and left before the police showed up. I will never use Midas ever again and I highly recommend if you did use them to repair your vehicle that you take your car to another shop to verify that the work you paid for was actually done. Just imagine what they are doing to the people who don't know anything about cars and are trusting them to do the right thing... read more

AWFUL! I called ahead to have my car inspected and the oil changed. I told Chris when I dropped the car off that I knew the tires needed to be changed but I will be taking car of that at a later time. After several phone calls of trying to sell me on hundreds of dollars worth of work, I returned to pick up my car. When i returned, Chris berated me because I didn't want to get the work done. My favorite line was, "It's your funeral if you take the car without the work," I can assure you that I will not be returning to this location and if at all possible, I will not return to a Midas. By the way Chris, the tires were changed, there were no wires sticking out and there is no need to have my funeral. And by the way they never did the inspection and Chris told me it was my fault! The GM David is the nicest, most helpful person I have ever encountered in the auto repair industry...possibly in any industry. We had a legal case against the seller from whom I purchased my used vehicle and he went above and beyond to make sure my vehicle was fixed and that we received the proper documentation for my lawyer. Marna was also helpful in the few encounters I had with her. David's attitude really made all the difference in the unfortunate situation I found myself in. Holy smokes! 3 months ago I went in for a needed an oil change. They came out and told me that I had serious issues. The tire rod ends were both about to fall off and could cause me to lose control of my car and crash. Then tell me I needed brand new struts on both sides. I asked them to write up an estimate for me as I could not leave the car there for the day, had to be at work shortly working part time to supplement my SS check. Co-worker spoke to the Toyota dealership I got this used at a few months ago and they said bring it after my work so they could look at it right away. They told me the struts looked to be fairly new as the paper stickers were still on it and found no issues at all with their function. They also said they found NO play at all in the steering and the tie rod ends were completely tight. I wonder if it is because I am an older gentleman (72) they thought maybe I was too stupid to know any better and would fork over the majority of my Social Security check check to them....for no reason. read more

Unfortunately, there's no way of giving zero stars. I took my car here for a state inspection. After about 40 minutes, they took my car into the bay. Later, they told me they had not yet run the inspection, but there were a few things I needed to do before I passed; $960 worth of parts and repairs. Didn't seem right, so I took it to my mechanic elsewhere and was informed that I only needed a small part, all costing $260. I originally wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, assuming they just misjudged something, but my mechanic says they were downright taking advantage, telling me I needed things I in no way needed. I made an appointment at 11am for a simple oil change. I understand Saturday's are busy but with scheduling an appointment that should ensure a quicker wait time. Well NOPE. I did not checkout and leave until 3pm. That's ridiculous considering I had an appointment. I have had many oil Changes and even when busy I wait no longer than an hour. Rating 2 stars based on the fact they surprisingly didn't mess anything up on my car and I actually left only paying $20. Made an appointment the day prior and still waited an hour and a half. Had my intelligence insulted and was irritated by the ridiculous up selling. $40 for a cabin air filter? It takes 30 seconds to do myself and the filter cost $10, ARE YOU SERIOUS? So I check it when I get home and it's fine with minimal dirt. No, I don't want a tire rotation, nor do I want an almost pointless fluid flush, spark plugs, or anything but my oil changed and a new filter and washer. Went in in the morning for a check engine light issue that went off while driving to drop off the car and was told to call if it came back on, so I did and that was the biggest mistake. I was just trying to see if they'd have it done by the end of the day because I would need it the day after. Wasn't rushing them or anything just wanted an answer and Tony was in a bad mood or just a miserable human all around so when I asked to speak with the guy I spoke to earlier in the day he yells through the office loud enough to hear clear as day, "Hey Chris pick up the phone for the asshole on the other end." Prior to that I did not do anything other than try to get a straight answer from the guy and he couldn't do that. Once I heard the name calling naturally I got aggravated myself and then decided to give him some stuff back. After all that Tony was not able to help me and I wouldn't trust him to work on my car just based on his phone communication skills. Is that the guy you really want representing your company when people first call. Not the best first impression but atleast you know what you're getting right away. Disrespected and disgusted is how I feel about Midas because of this experience. This place is horrible. I went in because my car was spitting smoke out of the exhaust. So I bring it in after making an appointment. They tell me they need to run a full diagnostics. Ok. After the diagnostics test, they tell me I need a new manifest catalytic converter, 2 gaskets and an O2 sensor. ($2200 with labor). So. They had me rent a car because they said it would take two days to finish. Well. On the second day it was finished but however I already paid for the rental for the day. They tell me "we need the rental back" and rush me to get this rental back THAT I PAID FOR. So I get there and the manager comes running out and tells me "your car is fine. Tech drove it for over an hour. No smoke. " Well. I drove it for FIVE minutes and had the same balls of smoke coming out my exhaust. So I call them. They tell me "we fixed the problems. There must be another problem" I tell them. No. You fixed a DIFFERENT problem. Not the one I came in there for. And then you told me your tech drove it for an hour and it was fine. Which was NOT the truth. So they tell me to come down and they will diagnose it a THIRD time. On my dime. No no no. I've made a call to corporate , the BBB, disputed charges and have made this known. While returning to Massachusetts driving on I-84,, my car suddenly snapped its tailpipe in half right behind the cat converter, making an unbearable racket with the unmuffled engine. I pulled into a rest area and looked on my phone for a possible repair center. Turns out the Midas shop was only a couple of miles away. When I told them of my problem and that I was mid-trip, they immediately pulled my car into a bay an onto a lift. They confirmed that a simple cut and weld would fix the problem, vs. a complete tailpipe replacement. Great news. Then I watched as the service tech walked around under the car and pushed on the wheels checking for other problems. After 3 good wheels, he pushed on the front left tire and I watched it move several inches, knowing that was not supposed to ever happen. Turns out I had a badly worn control arm that needed replacement. Given I still had hundreds of miles left to travel, I told them I wanted it repaired also vs risking a complete wheel failure. 90 minutes later, I had a new control arm installed and wheel alignment and a new piece of pipe welded into my existing tailpipe. Car steering was noticeably tighter driving home and the exhaust was a quiet as ever. Could not be more pleased with the service I received. read more

Tried to give this company a second chance. Not only did they not take responsibility for my exhaust issue that they created, but they charged me to "fix it". Let me tell you this. I went in there to have them lift up the exhaust...Dave the manager said it would be 40 to do this. Ok he did charge me the 40, but WHAT THE HELL WAS DONE!! My exhaust is lower than its ever been. So again WHAT THE HELL DID THEY CHARGE ME FOR. I guess that's why he called me and checked in on how my car is doing..
