Took my car for state inspection and they failed it, telling me that the brake pads were worn out,…read morethe rotors were scored due to metal on metal contact with the pads and I would need to replace the pads, rotors and "probably the calipers". His inspection report indicates he removed the left rear wheel. I took the car home and removed the left rear brake pads and determined that they were fairly worn, but no where near metal on metal and the rotors were fine, not scored and were still 10.3mm thick even the spec from Subaru is 8.5mm. See photos. I've since replaced the pads (since I took them off to photograph anyhow), and took the car to another shop to be inspected. They also told me that I need a battery as this one will fail soon. This is the same thing they told me last year about the same battery! Places like this make me so angry as they prey on people's Fear and ignorance while performing repairs not needed. I do all my mechanical work myself and even showed Dan the manger the log book where I had inspected the brakes 2200 miles ago and gave him an opportunity to revise his diagnosis. Be very sure to get a second opinion before spending a dime here, they seem to be untrustworthy.

Not only did Chester Valley give me a great competitive price, the shop came highly recommended and the work they did backs those recommendation. They not only saved me a boat load of cash, they did an outstanding job on my new muffler. I certainly plan on returning for tires and any other mechanical work that is within their abilities (e.g. brakes, rotors, mufflers). If they can't fix it mechanically they will recommend someone that is just as reliable. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this small shop that's been in the region since the valley was discovered by early settlers.

Unfortunately finding two matching 255/35/19Z tires for an all wheel drive system on a Saturday proved to be difficult and had to have them overnighted to CVT. Unfortunately in the world of FedEx, overnight means 4 days later but that's a whole new review. Once the tires arrived the CVT team got is up and running for an extremely reasonable price. Not to mention they didn't charge any storage fee for the five days the car was there. Kudos to not being money hungry animals! Thanks guys for helping us out!
