I was in a bind and needed help - my rental car (of all things) had steel belts showing on the front tires. Not wanting to put my family at risk, I was fortunate enough to find this Mavis Discount tire location down the street from my Aunt and Uncle's house where I was visiting. Not only did they have tires in stock that would work on this Tesla, they were able to get me in same day. There were a few people ahead of me so it took a little while but completely understandable showing up late in the day. I am a technician by trade and I was happy to see how detail oriented they were - they have the correct Tesla adapters for their lift, they cleaned the hub mating surface before putting the wheels back on the car, used a torque stick and a wrench and set the proper 42psi tire pressure. I was also advised the vehicle could benefit from an alignment (which clearly has an issue but it wasn't my car anyway so I had to pass) I was extremely satisfied with the service - the car weirdly did not have any regenerative braking after they were done (apparently this is a Tesla quirk) but a quick click on the tire maintenance reset button on the touch screen was all it needed - no big deal. All in all an excellent experience. - Their house brand of Mavis all season tires are an excellent value and they ride great. I appreciate not being upsold as it wasn't my car anyway. If anyone is wondering, they are 235/45/ZR18 98W XL's which are exactly what these cars are spec'd for. You don't need run flats or those stupid foam filled ones. We brought a car in for a simple service, they took the car for a test ride and destroyed the transmission. DO NOT LET THIS PLACE TOUCH YOUR CAR. Mitch is the service manager and blamed my daughter for his technician punching the car and wiping out the trans. He did three high speed laps around the building and blew out the trans. For the past week, my Prius seemed a little shaky when I was driving. Then it started to slide a bit when I tried to brake on wet road. Then the check tire pressure gauge lit up. I stopped into Midas and asked if they would check the tires. At first Mitch said they were really backed up, but he'd check the tires. Upon inspection he discovered the tires were bald and the steel belt was visible. Mitch suggested I leave the car and they would take care of it tomorrow. Unfortunately, I'm a caregiver and cannot be without my car. I asked if I could drive it around town and Mitch emphatically said absolutely not. The tire was on the edge of blowing out. I really didn't know what to do, but Mitch said there was no way he was letting me leave with the tires in that condition. He squeezed me in and replaced two tires. Now the car is safe to drive. I want to really thank Mitch and his staff for not only taking care of my car, but for the consideration he showed me by worrying about my safety. All I can say is stay far away I went for one tire change my Car has air suspension when I left I was bouncing all over I mean through the roof called corporate...bring it over we will fix it... NOPE HAD THE CAR FROM 8am till 2 pm and not fixed! So when they put the car on the lift they broke the air suspension in the back all I needed was a tire change. And no compensation! Now I'm out a frigin car and they never put the cap back were they put the air in the tire! Unreal! Stay away! read more

I went in to get my brakes and rotors replaced. They called me, stating my car was "undrivable" and required several additional services. Since I was in a pinch and unable to reach my regular mechanic, I agreed. During the process, they broke a part, blamed my previous mechanic, and wanted to charge me for the part, increasing the total cost to over $1,500. I had my vehicle towed to my mechanic after receiving the call about the broken part. My mechanic confirmed that the services they recommended had already been completed and were unnecessary. Additionally, the part they claimed was broken was actually fine. My mechanic performed the necessary work and charged me a third of the quoted price. NEVER GO HERE!! my mom went here for a tire change, they told her she had low oil, so she added on an oil change. 3 days after she realized that her car was leaking oil after noticing an oil leak in our driveway. she then went back to mavis for them to see what was wrong because she never had an oil leak before. they told us they needed 1 more day with her car to see what the issue was. the next day they called us and said her car died... how can a perfectly fine car suddenly die..: now my mom is out of a car and has no way to get to work or where she needs to be and has to take a loan to buy a new car all do to the fact of this terrible place. her car was fine, she got an oil change here, then her car starts leaking oil, she goes back, and her car dies. i believe that they punctured a hole somehow when doing this oil change and need to take responsibility. Mavis (at least in Brick, NJ) USED to treat their customers like humans. Those days are long gone. Go make an appointment online, and then be proactive by calling the day before to confirm, like I did. You'll then be asked to come in a little early in case they get done with earlier appointments sooner than expected. Then show up an hour before your appointment and wait 8 minutes so the incompetent female shop manager (I'm guessing she's a manager) can ignore you along with the two male employees standing behind the counter just watching the female employee discuss how to apply a credit to a customers invoice. Then, finally, one of the two male employees will ask what you are there for and you tell them, along with your name and that you were requested to come in a bit earlier. They of course, won't be able to locate your account, despite you having confirmation in emails. Then, and only then, will you be told "Um. Yea. So we only have one dude who can do brake jobs and like, he called out." They are so incompetent that not one employee had the wherewithal to call customers who had scheduled appointments to let them know they their business like mindless Neanderthal's. Not one of them will take ANY ACCOUNTABILITY AND THEY WILL SPIN WHATEVER SCREW UP THEY CAUSED ON THE CUSTOMER. read more

I don't often write reviews... In fact, I can't remember the last time I did so. To preface this, all I can say is that I wish I had read the reviews of Mavis discount tires in Brick, New Jersey before I went over there. I decided to use them because I I had a tire issue that needed taking care of right away and Mavis was the closest open tire place to me. It is impossible for me to overstate how bad my experience was with Mavis. If I could give them zero stars above, I would. All I needed was a new tire that did not lose air and they could not provide it. there is much more detail below if you want it. however, my short review is at all costs stay away from this place and go anywhere else. They are incompetent! The new tire they provided seemed to have a slow leak and I went back about a week later. They did see me right away and took about an hour doing the "work". I was advised by the manager when they finished that the tire pressure light would be on for about five or 10 minutes until I drove around for a bit, so I took him at his word. That night I had a rehearsal and my tire pressure light was still on. I drove a few miles up the parkway and stopped at the first rest stop and went to an air pressure machine. Turns out that the tire was about 20 pounds of pressure too low so I inflated it there to full and got back on the parkway. The light came on within one minute. I pulled off at the next exit and called AAA to come help me put on my donut in the trunk. Next morning I called Mavis and the manager said come over in a day and we will have a new tire installed. I drove around on the donut for a day and then the next day I came and had the new tire installed at Mavis. That night after work I came out and my tire was completely flat. At that point I decided that I would not deal with Mavis and its incompetence anymore and I called my credit card company to charge Mavis back. Next morning I went down the street from Mavis to Pep Boys, and had them take a look at the tire from Mavis. They said that the stem (gauge) of the tire was completely disconnected and that was the problem. They suggested fixing it, but at that point, I wanted nothing to do with Mavis and had already charged them back. So I got a new tire from Pep Boys and have had no problems since then. (Mavis purports to be a tire specialist and they don't notice that the stem is disconnected from the tire?? They must be taking people off the street who know nothing about tires,). I then took the Mavis tire back there and gave it back to them and told the manager I charged them back. He said that they would not contest the charge back, although he refused to put that in writing.... Said only headquarters could do that. He did give me paperwork acknowledging the return of the tire at least Sure, enough, about a month and a half later I got something from my credit card company saying that Mavis had contested the chargeBack. I actually had to send the return paperwork to mycc company and Mavis's HQ... who my cc company suggested I contact as well. Finally, it has been resolved in my favor, and I got the amount for the tire back on my card again. BTW, a while, back during the middle of this saga I posted something about my trials and travails with Mavis on my Facebook page, and at least five or six people that I knew posted back that they had had similar problems with various Mavis locations when they had made the mistake of bringing their cars there for tire service. My advice is to stay far away from any locations of this incompetent chain. There are plenty of other tire places to choose from. read more

Showed up in person to make an appointment for Brakes, Rotors and new tires, and because my Jeep uses an uncommon size tire, they said it would be a few days for them to come in. Ok cool, no problem. Made an appointment for the following week (6 full days later). Showed up for my noon appointment right on time, and dropped off my jeep with an approximate turn-around time frame of 2-3 hours. I don't hear from them until almost 5:30 when I get a call saying they didn't have my rotors and would be keeping my car overnight. I asked if they could just do the tires and schedule the rotors for another time, but was told "no, it was too late in the day, and they wouldn't do it", in other words, i was completely screwed at getting my car back that day. They had 6 days to get the rotors, and for some reason couldn't get them and couldn't even notify me about it (Ya know, until my car is on the lift without tires and they are closed and it is too late for them to do anything about it). Piss poor planning, accountability and communication. Never going to any Mavis again. If I could give zero stars i would. read more

Always great service. I have been to this location several times in the past years and referred friends here when it was STS.. Now a Mavis store but managers have been in this store for years prior to the name change and they know their business. They provide great customer service at very reasonable prices. I was a walk in today with screw in my tire that was unable to be patched. They had me in and out within 35 minutes with the new tire! I always appreciate their honesty and ethic and they definitely have my business in the future. read more

I was overcharged for my tires (online price on mavis website was almost $10 less per tire, AND manager refused to refund overcharged amount), charged for balancing (i've never paid for balancing anywhere else with 4 new tires) was given a pickup time and at that time my car hadn't even been looked at (thank god i called beforehand otherwise i'd have been stuck), and to top it off we had to bring my car back as the vehicle was pulling to the right and vibrating due to improper balancing.. brought it BACK to be fixed and it's STILL not right so now I have to take it somewhere else as this location is a joke. read more

Brought my 2014 GMC pickup in for an 4 new tires,balancing and alignment. Over $1300.00. My appt was for 9AM and I brought the truck in the previous afternoon. It didn't go in the shop until 2:30 the next day. I brought it in with all my tire pressure monitors working. Picked it up with one malfunctioning. I called. I was in structed to bring it back to have the monitor fixed after being told that the battery in the monitor might be dead. There are no batteries in tire monitors! I brought it back any way. When I picked it up, only two monitors were working and now I can only drive at 25 mph due to a violent shimmy. DO NOT GO TO THIS MAVIS. The have no clue what they are doing. Been here 2 times so far and both have been nice experiences. VERY reasonably priced and cost is given to you up front. The employees are very pleasant and answer questions patiently. They never pushed to sell other services although they do check for other needed maintenance for example such as brakes since they have the wheels off which also makes sense for convenience. You can watch the mechanics work on your vehicle through the glass if desired (see photo) or they have a TV to watch in the waiting area if you decide to stay and wait. Guests were visiting from New Hampshire when they got a flat tire. Brought the car to Mavis and were told the tire had to be replaced, as it could not be repaired. Left the car early Saturday afternoon, and was told they would call when the car was ready. Was sitting in the parking lot waiting for a call when I noticed people leaving the shop. Placed a call at 5:01....office worker told me they were closed, come back tomorrow. Called at 10. a.m. - told the car would be taken care of soon. Was called at noon and told they were bringing the car in at that time. Was called at 2 with the same message. At 4:30, got a ride down to Mavis - saw the car in the lot and went in to pay, only to discover it had yet to have the tire replaced. Took the car into the garage at 4:45....replaced the tire before closing at 5. Trip back to NH delayed a day because it took them 1 1/2 days to replace the tire. read more

I ordered tires last week online and made an appointment to have them installed. Showed up and they asked me if I want an alignment since the tires are being done. He asked if the steering was ok? I said it seems fine. Steering wheel is straight. He said we will check it for you. Sat for a few hours. When it was done he said ok you are all set. We did check the alignment and it needed to be done so we did it. Usually they let you know and ask first but I didn't think anything of it and thought well I guess it needed to be done. When I looked at the receipt when I got in the car I noticed they didn't charge me for the alignment. It just said they checked it. I thought "hey that was nice not to charge me!" As I was driving home I noticed the wheel was a little off. It wasn't at all before I brought it in. Wasn't sure thought. But when I drove to work down a highway a few days later I realized "yes" this is definitely off. When I held the steering wheel straight the car pulled to the left. So I brought it back on my next day off of work. They worked on it for over an hour and said it's done. As I was heading home I then noticed it was pulling the opposite way now. Went back and told them. They worked on it for 2 more hours pulling it in and out of the bay. Basically they said they can't figure it out because there machine says it's fine but it still pulls so they insisted there must be something else wrong that has nothing to do with the alignment. I said whatever it is you guys caused because this wasn't doing this before I brought it in last week. All they could offer me was to go to another Mavis. So I did. Point pleasant had it in for 20 minutes and now it's perfectly fine. I wasted hours of my day. Although point pleasant fixed it I think I am steering clear of Mavis all together. But if you feel you need to use them DO NOT go to Brick. Either their techs don't know what they are doing or their machine is off. When I suggested that something is wrong with their machine they said they haven't had alignment issues with any other cars. BS. read more

I called the week before Christmas and ordered four new tires. It would a few days the salesperson told me. I had an appointment for the following week at 3:20. The salesman told me that would give them plenty of time to get the fires from another store. When I arrived for my appointment I was informed that the tires did not arrive yet. They said that they should have called me instead of wasting my time. Then they said they would get the tires from the Howell branch. They said the tires would be in the store in two days. I brought my vehicle in for a steering wheel adjustment. Two "mechanics" told me that my van needed new ball joints as well as a Pitman arm. I told them they were wrong as I had all 4 ball joints replaced less than a year ago by my regular mechanic, someone who has been working on my cars for years and, in whom I have total confidence and trust. When I brought it back to my mechanic and he took a look he told me they were absolutely, 100% wrong on their diagnosis. Not only were the ball joints in great shape, the Pitman arm did not need replacement. It was only a matter of adjusting the wheel bearings. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I have to wonder how many other patrons of this location have had to pay for unnecessary repairs. I will never patronize this location again. read more

We had our car towed in for a flat (no spare). We only towed it there since it was the closest location for tires. Mavis called us and quoted us a price over $700, stating we needed new rear shocks, two new rear tires and an alignment. We asked them only to repair the flat, as we have another well-known company that typically does our repairs. So Mavis repaired the flat for $27. We dropped the car off immediately to the other company & was told nothing was wrong with the shocks or the tire that wasn't flat. We simply need an alignment. Do not use Mavis. They will try to upsell you and rip you off. read more

I had used this shop years ago and they seemed okay then, other than one slightly loose schrader valve on a new tire that needed tightening. I caught it in time and tightened it. No harm no foul, so I forgot about it. Fast forward to last week, my car needed 2 new tires. I made an appointment and ordered the tires I wanted over the phone. When I went to the appointment, they tried to upsell me to four tires. They said the tread was worn down on both tires I wanted to keep. (They said nothing about the schrader valves.) I don't need four, as two of them are only a year old and still have lots of tread. I told them that, and they agreed to install two. Okay, so far, so good. They recommended the new tires go on the back of the truck. I agreed. So they moved one of the "old" tires to the front. The next morning I went out to Pennsylvania about 2 hours from the house. The tire was soft when I got out there. The one they moved from the back of the car to the front. Checked it with a tire pressure gauge and it was low. The valve was leaking. I have never had a tire valve leak except after going to this place. I didn't happen to have the tool to tighten it with me. So I drove a mile or so to a gas station, and went to air it up and the valve core popped out! So I had to change the tire there in a busy gas station parking lot. I was afraid to drive home without a spare so I stopped at a tire shop out there and paid them to fix it. I called Mavis the next Monday, and told them what happened as politely as I could and the service ticket writer or manager or whatever his title is, was saying, "Oh that's weird. How could THAT have happened? " To be clear I am NOT saying they did in purposely-I have no hard evidence they did. But when you go to a shop you are paying professionals to do the work-I expect them to do a thorough job, and check everything. And to be gentle with the tires that are not being replaced. 35 years of driving and the only time I had a valve core pop out like this is the day after they worked on my car. read more
