We ordered take out from Matty's the first night in the area. The Buffalo style 1/2 tray pizza was great. The crust was soft and tasty. The sauce the perfect amount of sweet and right amount on the pizza. The char-cup pepperoni was so delicious, perfectly crisp. The sausage was great too. The garlic cheese bread uses their fresh made loaf bread sliced, garlic-ed up, crispy but soft. And desert was the piece de resistance. We chose to take an entire peanut butter pie back to the rental with us. Man, that pie was outstanding. A small slice is enough because it was so decadent. Hopefully we can make time for another dinner from Matty's while here. So... Update two days later, we ordered a full sheet pizza 1/2 cheese 1/2 cupchar pepperoni and another order of garlic cheese bread. Again, another stellar prefoamce by the team at Matty's. Its amazing, but sometimes the screw it up and rush the pizza. The place is to small, and the free jolly ranchers are a nice touch.

Enjoying the beautiful weather and decided to head out to Wilson to enjoy the lake. Needed something to eat. Being a Monday at noon there weren't too many options. Happened upon Matty's and ordered a Supreme Pizza to go!! It was loaded with Toppings and absolutely delicious. To our surprise and delight the owner threw in an order of garlic knots. I don't know what happened, but my husband has been increasingly disappointed with this place, and the pizza we had this weekend tasted really off. It was okay as a leftover reheated in the oven the next day, but we won't be ordering again. My husband didn't even enjoy his wings. I found this place via Yelp when visiting the area. They are located at the intersection in building style that is only ever in small towns. The entrance was in from the corner. According to their menu they make their own dough and freshly shred the mozzarella. They also had large bread rolls, brownies(see pic) and even their own dog biscuits(I didn't try these). I'll have to say that they make one hell of a white pizza. They didn't have what I wanted on the menu but they had all the ingredients to make it and it came out completely de-lish. I ordered a Garlic White pizza with Spinach and Mushrooms. One of the advantages of places which make subs as well as pizza...extra ingredients. While waiting for my pie, I checked out the decor. The seating area seats about 12 so probably not good for a group. The owner of this place really loves trains, There is a model train track above the waiting area(see pic) and there is a vertical display cabinet with all sorts of local memorabilia & train related items in one corner. The pizza was just the way I like it, the outer crust was crispy and lightly browned with no burnt hotspots. The bottom of the pie was uniformly cooked and the bread under the cheese was moist and not soggy and the cheese not super oily so they were using a low moisture mozzarella, The garlic was real and not the powder stuff that most places use and they didn't skimp on it. I had garlic in every bite. The order came with a box of garlic knots that like the pizza had garlic chunks not powder. The knots were evenly cooked with a soft pretzel consistency with butter and garlic. I had them for lunch with the brownie the following day. After I ate the brownie I really wished for more. We got to stop in here for the first time. Traveling through at first we weren't sure if they were open or not, sign said open but it's smaller and darker looking from outside. Employees are totally friendly and welcoming. The place is older and smaller. The food we give 9 out of 10. Wings, Alfredo and stinger Sub were all great! The atmosphere is older and smaller. But it's a good place to eat. We will definitely be back and recommend to anyone. The owner or Manager was very friendly also. The only downfalls are it's smaller, needs updating and maybe some work to the cleanliness and appearance. But definitely good food and place to eat! read more

Was in here a couple days ago for fast bite to eat. The calzone was huge but the "large" fry looked like a small (it was for my cousin so he didn't mind much I guess but didnt seem like it was worth my $6). The place looks good on the inside, like a generic pizza place, clean except the blackout curtains. Every time I went by there while on vacation the curtains were closed like they hate sunlight or something, I found it very odd... would be a cool place if they just looked open and removed (or even opened) those curtain! read more

My sister and i come camping in Wilson every year and every year we make it a point to stop by Matty's restaurant. The PIZZA AND RIBS are to die for and Matty himself is a really nice guy. The sauce is sweet and the ribs just melt in your mouth. The wait is worth it everything is homemade and perfect! I dream about this pizza out in Rochester, NY. This place is the main take-out place in Wilson, and has been for the 15 years it's been open. The food is always of high quality, they make all their own sauces including their pizza and pasta sauce, and BBQ sauce. They even make their own ranch dressing along with their wraps, sub rolls, and of course pizza dough! I've never been disappointed with the food quality, however sometimes it varies with who is cooking that day. Go on a Friday or Saturday when the manager is guaranteed to be there and you'll have a good meal. P.S. The owner is a good guy, he really is. He leads a stressful life, he just finished a three year project of managing a church in Medina being built while running a restaurant. He rarely ever is rude to customers, at least from what I have seen, and if he was it was likely due to stress, but who can't relate? read more

After a soccer match I took my kids here (2 & 5) because the only other "quick" place in town wouldn't take credit cards but this place does. I ordered 2 cheese quesadillas and a steak salad. They told me it would be 25 minutes, which seemed to be pretty long but I agreed to wait in the car while they made it. 45 minutes later they still hadn't come out to deliver our order, despite checking in several times. Finally I came in to just cancel as they came out with the food. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you want a quick bite. read more

I don't mind paying more for quality, but not for what I've had the last 2 orders. Crumbled bacon for a BLT sub? And forget about resolution from management. "Sorry that's all we use ". I think people should know that when it's ordered. Try letting a child eat it. $9 for crumbled bacon. Unbelievable. The other sub was beyond soggy, steak was burnt, and missing toppings. If you're ever looking for a great place for a casual dinner or take out in Wilson visit Matty's pizzeria. Went there for the first time last week before my son's spring concert. We got there at 5:30pm and were able to enjoy our food and still walk out the door in time to get to the concert by 6:40. Everything is homemade with large portions, priced great and tastes amazing.
