When our toilet was unable to flush,…read morewe didn't know who to call since our favorite longtime plumbing company was no longer in business. Then we remembered seeing 535 Plumbing trucks often parked downstairs and at other buildings nearby, and gave them a call. They asked my husband for some photos, gave him an estimate, and sent someone over that afternoon. The plumber was running late but kept us informed about when he would be arriving. Once he got here, he was very courteous, professional, and did what he had to do. He answered our questions clearly in layman's terms for us to understand. A second plumber stopped by briefly to help him. We paid what was originally quoted to us. We were very satisfied with the quality of work done and now have a new favorite go-to plumbing company to call on!

We messaged 535 Plumbing here on Yelp about the broken handle on our main water shutoff valve, a…read morevalve their company installed about six years ago. We sent a photo and were quoted $299 for a handle replacement, in writing and by voicemail. They scheduled the appointment and arranged for the Board of Water Supply to shut off our water. Two techs showed up. One looked at the valve without digging it out. The other, who hadn't even talked to the first tech, went straight to quoting my husband $1,500 to replace the whole valve. When my husband asked why the price jumped, he wouldn't explain. When my husband brought up the $299 quote, the tech became hostile, yelled profanity at him, and vaped on our property. I called the office, and they confirmed the $299 handle quote. After the techs left, the one who had looked at the valve called and told us they don't do handle replacements, and that our water couldn't be turned back on until we agreed to replace the valve, even though no one had touched it. He offered a "discount" on the valve job. He came back later and said he wasn't sure how the original installers had done the job, even though it was his own company's work. He never gave a reason the handle couldn't be replaced beyond "we don't do that." A manager then showed up, said they'd turn the water back on and that we should find someone else to fix it, and left without explaining anything. We weren't charged, but we lost a morning without water and still have a broken valve. Between the bait-and-switch feel of the quote, the refusal to explain, and the way my husband was treated, we won't be using 535 Plumbing again. If you hire them, get the scope and price in writing, and don't expect them to honor it

Now this was early evening and no water since we shut the valve. Next morning, got a text asking when we were available and got our appointment! He was very thorough and cleaned up the area of the debris. I'm very satisfied of the quality of the work and value too.

I couldn't even figure out how to stop the water from coming out and within minutes water was pouring down the stairs and leaking into the floors below the kitchen. After calling everyone I could think of, including the board of water supply, with no one providing any help, I typed in "plumbers" into Yelp and started cold calling down the list. First Class Plumbing was the third company listed but the first one that seemed to care. I was warned that I was calling after hours so I'd have an emergency fee if I wanted service now... I joked "fine - this is an emergency" and was told I'd get a call back as soon as they could get ahold of one of their plumbers. I went back to trying to heave buckets of water into a nearby sink and received a call back 15 minutes later. The plumber was so calm, and after hearing that I was still dealing with gushing water, explained to me how to stop the water flow. He asked me to send him pictures of the burst pipe and the faucet and got off the phone to price everything out including replacing the pipes and faucet. After doing all that work he told me what the cost would be and then said it was no worries if given the price I didn't want to continue on - or at least wait until it wasn't an emergency (an extra $150 charge). I said I definitely wanted the service and he came right out and fixed the burst pipe. I would already have been raving about this place for their competent service if it had been a normal scheduled appointment. But the fact that this company and the plumber were there for me when no one else was, and went above and beyond walk me through how to stop the problems and extremely quickly look into part costs for me before I ever even agreed to the service has made me a loyal customer forever!

I spoke with Ana and explained my plumbing issue, then emailed her a photo of the problem area. She quickly identified that it involved replacing my PRV, isolation valve, and irrigation valve. Whitley arrived on time, was professional, courteous, and a pleasure to talk to. It was fun chatting football with him -- he comes from an impressive football family! His dad, Vili, was the University of Hawai'i football team's official Warrior mascot during the Colt Brennan era. Highly recommend this company for their fair pricing, excellent communication, and top-notch workmanship.
