This guy is a Class A Jerk.
The only thing good about this whole situation is that the job actually got done. Beyond that, the experience was absolutely miserable, from start to finish. To be honest, the only reason I kept going with this guy is because I was desperate to get the job done, and no one else called me back.
I called Matt after seeing his review on this site. I told him I had a bunch of stuff in my old house that needed to be hauled to my new one. After looking at the stuff, he said it would take him two trips, and gave me a price.
At the end of the first day, he sends me a text asking for payment in cash. The following text message conversation occurred: Matt: "Are you going to have cash tomorrow?" Me: "I can write you a check." Matt: "You can't get cash tomorrow?" Me: "It's kinda making me uncomfortable that you're only taking cash. I have always paid for services with either check or credit card. I will give you a check for (xxx amount) tomorrow upon completion of the services. Feel free to cash it upon receipt." Matt: "Why do you feel uncomfortable I just don't want a check to bounce on me that's all." After this, I called him and we had another argument over money. I asked him how I could guarantee that he would actually finish the job if I gave him cash after the first day, and he responds that "This stuff is all such junk. You don't have to worry about any of it because no one would want it anyway."
So basically now, you're telling me: 1. You think that MY stuff that I'm paying you to haul is JUNK, and 2. You don't believe I have the money to cover.
I repeat, CLASS A JERK.
The next day, Matt is supposed to finish the job. I told him I had to leave at a certain time, and he promises he'll be finished by then. About an hour before I needed to leave, he tells me he's still working, and insists I leave the check on my stoop. He tells me he will come finish the job while I'm gone, and asks me to leave my garage door open for him. I tell him I'm not comfortable leaving my garage door open, and explain that I'm not just going to "leave a check" because the way he's been, I don't trust that he'll actually finish the job. He once again tells me that he couldn't believe anyone would take anything because it's all junk, and all stuff no one would want.
I wait until he gets to my house (despite being late to an appointment) just to hear him say, "This is just a side job for me anyway. I have a main job that actually pays my bills. I'm really just doing you a favor." Again, CLASS A JERK.
I wish the story ended here, but it didn't.
One of the things his transported was a trash can full of rancid meat with maggots crawling all over it. I texted him to let him know, and see if he would be in the area to get it to the dumpster. He said he felt really bad, and that he had a job nearby so he would be able to come pick it up. When he came, he also offered to take some other trash. I thought he was being kind, as he didn't mention any additional fee when we spoke. Once he picked up the stuff, I started walking inside my house. When I turned around to close the garage door, I saw him still standing on my driveway looking creepy and disheveled. I looked at him confused for a couple minutes, and finally asked what my "damage" was. He gave me a price, and I looked at him like he was crazy. Mind you, I don't expect things for free - but when someone says something is their fault, and offers to come to fix the problem, it is reasonable to believe that they are actually being kind, and will not force the customer to pay for their mistake. Not this guy. After all the BS, he insisted on me paying for HIS MISTAKE.
This guy is unprofessional, rude, and just plain nasty. Don't believe what's on his website. Trust your gut (and my review), and stay FAR AWAY from this Class A Jerk. read more
