Every time a great experience. I started out a few years ago with the wrong company and learned how bad it could be. I now ONLY choose SPARTAN Junk Removal. Their people are Punctual. They Communicate so well. They Listen! They also have called a few times to tell me that they were running early and would I mind if they came a little early?! Which is very good for me because my energy flags as the day goes by. I tend to call them before holidays when things get a little ahead of me and I can use a boost getting things streamlined. I called this afternoon and set up an appointment from 2-4 for a quote to pick up my trash/junk. I had not heard back from anyone, as the lady on the phone said they would. This time when I called at 3:40 p.m. another lady said she was unable to tell me if I had an appointment or not, she didn't have access. She said she would forward my name and number to the manager. As of 6:40 p.m. never heard back. It doesn't matter now because I found someone else. But still no show no phone call. read more

TLDR: 10:00AM-12:00PM schedule timeslot, no show. Had to call the company multiple times to inquire about the delay. Manager never called back about it. Couldn't cancel by phone or online. Finally received a call at 2:48 PM saying they will arrive in 30 MINUTES. Already wasted an entire day that I set aside, just for an estimate visit, nevermind the cost. Unprofessional, lacking proper communications and courtesies. I reached out to Spartan Junk Removal because they looked like they had good google reviews and they were nearby. They scheduled me for a Monday slot from 10:00AM-12:00PM window. This seemed reasonable, most services provide an arrival window. At around 11:00AM, I receive a call from the service person saying they are delayed and should arrive closer to 12:00PM. He also said he would follow-up in case of further delays. It is now 1:00PM. I call their customer service number to inquire what is going on. The customer service rep told me the main number was ONLY FOR SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS. They would have to forward my concerns to another department and have them call me back. They explicitly told me that they couldn't even look up my appointment slot. I left my concerns to them to forward to their manager. 1 hour later, I call them again, same deal. The customer rep told me they couldn't do anything and could only pass my concern along to the manager as an urgent message. Keep in mind, once you confirm the appointment online, there is no option to cancel the appointment. So, I was forced to, once again, leave a message and just hope they show up. I couldn't even leave my house because there was no means for me to cancel. It is now 2:48 PM. I finally get a call from the service person saying they are on their way and will arrive in 30 MINUTES as if nothing has happened. I took time off to be available for this service. I have now wasted an entire business day waiting for a service that should've been resolved by noon. I had to unfortunately cancel the appointment because it would be the end of day by the time they get here, do an estimate, and haul my stuff away. I wasted a whole day and had other commitments at this point. I have never run into a service that was such a hassle to deal with just for an initial visit. Keep in mind the following: 1. Their call number is ONLY for scheduling appointments. They cannot look up your existing appointment, they cannot reach a manager directly. The "manager" never called me back despite two calls that I made. In fact, no one from their departments called me back to address this enormous delay. 2. Once you approve your appointment online, if you click the change/cancel link in the email, it clearly states "Changes to this appointment can no longer be made online." There is no further options to cancel anywhere on the page, even if they are prohibitively late. Utterly disappointing and wasted an entire day that I set aside. Completely unprofessional business lacking crucial communications or courtesies that other businesses provide as a baseline. Decided to go with a competitor that managed to book me a timeslot within the same day and actually arrive within the schedule timeslot. read more

The guys that came out were friendly and did an OK job, but they scratched up the porch's paint moving out a couch. Also, the price was much higher than I expected -- $900 to fill 2/3 of a truck and less than an hour of labor. I will be using the city's pickup service from now on. read more

I had more than a few pick up truck loads of debris in my backyard from working on a house I bought and dismantling dilapidated structures in the backyard - wood paneling, sheet metal, old used lumber, various debris, broken cinder blocks and stuff left behind from the previous owners. I was going to rent a dumpster and had chosen a company and size but decided to look into hauling services. Spartan had good reviews across the board and when I saw how easy it was to schedule, and saw that I could schedule them for the next day, I went ahead and chose Spartan. I am glad I did. The two guys who came out were fantastic - they were professional and courteous as well as efficient and methodical. There is more than one way to get a quote, but I choose the method of scheduling them online, they come out with the truck and look at what you have and give you a quote, and from there you can take it or leave it. If you are OK with the quote then they can do the work right then. I am excited to have all of that debris hauled away. When they arrived, they gave me what I thought was a very fair estimate and they started work immediately. (Had I not liked the estimate, no problem.) This process saved me having to be home twice -- once for estimate and once for pickup. The crew was three very polite and energetic young men. They carried items from both the basement and the second floor to their truck, being very careful of my walls. I was able to pay by credit card. Booking an estimate with them was super easy on their website and they were really good about communicating with me before my appointment (My appointment had to be rescheduled once due to inclement weather). I have a two bedroom townhouse and before our interstate move, we needed our king size bed, matress, dresser, a bunk bed for kids, a mini fridge and a few other items gone. Spartan was one of the companies that responded to my quote request. They offered free inhouse estimate. The crew is professional and very polite. They showed up and gave us an estimate. With the estimate they gave, I talked to their manager on the phone and got a small additional discount. They showed up the next day, and efficiently moved all the stuff without damaging the walls and the floor. You may want to keep a few screwdrivers around if you need them disassemble furniture before moving. Luckily we had some lying around and it did the job. They accept credit card with no extra commission and everything went really smooth. What I can say is, these people are efficient, reliable and professional. Also everyone involved is very polite. Overall, the experience was "just ok"...I noticed that they left behind furniture screws on the all over my sidewalk from breaking down the furniture before loading it on the truck. Additionally, based on the information on the company's website, I do not feel the pricing was appropriate for the amount taken. I ONLY proceeded because I front loaded several small items to the front door. I would not recommend this service for someone that is trying to haul the amount I did -- Two tube TVs, a full size matress and boxspring, two 7' x10' area rugs, ikea tv stand and other miscellaneous floor mats -- I was charged a 1/4 truck rate and one could visibly see when all the items were on the truck, it was not 1/4 filled. Incredible!! I used 1800GOTJUNK one weekend and Spartan this weekend and they are not in the same league at all. Spartan is amazing. They keep going and going filling the truck with our junk. 800GOTJUNK said the truck was full with a small amount and then tried to upcharge with 100 more than the quote which we got figured out. But GOTJUNK came 2 hrs late! They brought no supplies to get it all out. They were horrible and Spartan is awesome!!! read more

We paid Spartan for 2 pick ups as they said they couldn't get everything in 1 trip. $1200. They told us the first time they came, it would only be 1 pick up for $750. They pulled curtains half off the wall and they still left alot of stuff in the house. When I called to request they finish the job, I was told the would come back for a discounted rate. Why oh why did I put off having junk cleaned out from the basement for so many years? Spartan made it so easy. I sent an e-mail from their website asking if they served Wheaton/Silver Spring and got a quick response that they sure did. I scheduled a mutually convenient date and time. They offer a 2 hour window for their arrival time and call 20 - 30 minutes before they'll be at your home. As they indicated on their website, they come in and give you an estimate and if you're happy with it they start working right away. I'm a little embarrassed to admit when a young man and woman arrived and I accepted the estimate (which was way, way reasonable) I expected a couple of big burly guys to show up. But Amanda and her co-worker started in and hauled away all the junk I had requested. Now that I have room to go through boxes and see what needs to be donated, kept or trashed, if I need a second pick-up I will not hesitate to call them again. read more

The only reason for not giving them five stars was how particular they are about the load not exceeding the height of the bed of their vehicle.
