My move: Storage pod (small studio worth of stuff minus a bed) to studio Location: ABF U-Pack service center in MD to DC condo Packing: none; already packed Distance: 30 miles Elevator access: yes Get It Done cost: Under $500 Other MD/DC companies quoted: $700-2000; Booked 2-3 weeks out OR said they don't service that area (what?!! unheard of in Los Angeles for a mere 30 miles!) I needed local moving help and was having the hardest time finding companies that weren't charging high rates and were available in a short timeframe between Maryland and DC. I found Get It Done through Craigslist and looked them up on Yelp, requested a quote, and within a couple of hours had gotten a response and very reasonable price range. Charles was very responsive and had flexible times 2-3 days out for a local move. He communicated when his truck had an issue causing him to be about an hour late, but it was all fine in my situation since I was moving from a storage unit to a condo where I didn't have to be moved out by a certain time/day. He and his teammate moved my things over to the 26' truck with care and drove it about 30 miles into DC. They carefully parked in the loading dock, loaded the elevator and unloaded things where I wanted them. They even helped fix the legs on my sofa that came loose during cross country transit in a pod. Total time was about 3 hours with transit. Charles even gave me a veterans discount on top of his very reasonable price. Much appreciated! Charles was like a guardian angel at the right place at the right time! I had purchased several items from a local furniture store and they didn't offer delivery on clearance items. While I my husband and I were trying to load things into our truck, we realized it was getting really late, and that we would need help not to mention more room to bring these items inside our home. I needed movers to move me and they were very accommodating and was willing to work during my time frame. Extremely professional and did a wonderful job. Choose 2 movers but ended up needing 3 due to the amount of stuff needing to be moved. They were able to get a 3rd person and kept the rate fairly reasonable. However, during my move, one of my chairs broke during the move but they compensated me by giving a discount on the move time. Would definitely recommend and would choose them again for my next move. Similar to other reviews, I hired Charles for a move from Northern Virginia to Tampa, FL. After searching for a full service moving company for a few weeks and becoming slightly frustrated with what I was finding, I couldn't have been happier with hiring Charles choice for a few main reasons. 1.) He was considerably less expensive than other moving companies I could find both locally and nationally. 2.) He was able to deliver my items one day post load up, while other local and national offers varied from 3 to 4 business days up to 3 weeks. Finally and most importantly 3.) Charles himself. He has a can do attitude, listened to and responded quickly and efficiently to any of my concerns, and communicated clearly, quickly, and with compassion. As I am now a transplant to the DMV area and recently had to use this local moving service. Several weeks prior to my move I started to contact the owner (Charles) for pricing via Yelp. Initially, he was slow on his responses, but as the date got closer he became very responsive. They gave me a confirmation the day before and as the day came, the morning of he called me to verify the time. Charles and one of his crew members arrived on time and ready to work. I used them only for unloading and they got the job job pretty damn fast - faster than what I was quoted and expected (YAYYY). The pricing was cheaper than the previous State where I was moving from and they also were observant on the mediocre packing that was done by the other set of movers from the previous State. In addition to they also accepted PayPal for the deposit and final remaining balance - which is helpful because I am not a cash carrier. I would definitely use them again, when the need should arise. Most of the reviews I write are positive, but unfortunately, I have to put this out there. I hired Get It Done to haul away a bed. Owner/operator Charles damaged my drywall, broke the doorknob of my closet, and left a huge mess in my room. He initially offered me a full refund and claimed to have ripped up my check but changed his mind and cashed it. Full story below. I sent a photo of the bed to Get It Done and was quoted $100. Arranging a time (on Friday, September 23) for pick up was easy. Charles gave me updates on his timing and arrived within the agreed-upon window. However, this is where the quality service ended. I explained to Charles that, when the bed frame was turned on its side, the top piece would need to be held shut or else it would flip open. (The bed had been moved by professional movers three times without incident, so I knew this could be done.) However, Charles stood at an angle from which it was impossible to hold the bed shut and tried to push it out of my room. The top piece opened, and the bed became wedged between the wall and the linen closet. Charles tried to force the bed out, then back into the bedroom, muttering obscenities and periodically belching. The bed was stuck, and his attempts broke the handle off of the closet door and gouged a gash in my drywall (http://imgur.com/a/V8DHU). Charles was stuck in my bedroom, so I had to get tools, remove the mechanism that opened the bed to shut it. Charles pulled it back into the bedroom. He then decided that the best thing to do would be to break the bed apart (even though disabling the mechanism had ensured that it could be moved on its side without flipping open). I expressed concern that this was not a good idea but added, "You're the professional, so I'll trust you." He replied, "Well... I'm not really a professional, but I've stayed in a few Holiday Inns." (I have no idea what that means.) He proceeded to break the bed apart by kicking it and stomping on it, which caused small pieces of wood and metal to fly all over my bedroom (http://imgur.com/a/zLokU). He took the large pieces down to his truck, making no offer to repair the damage or clean the mess. As he was leaving, I gave him a check, which I had written before he arrived, for the agreed upon $100. He then asked if he could go back upstairs to get the Slurpee he had left in my apartment. I wanted him to leave, so I asked, "Do you really need your Slurpee that badly?" He said "no" and left. (Amazingly, this comes up later.) I spent the next couple of hours cleaning up the bits of wood, dust, and debris he had left all over my bedroom. I then decided to call Get It Done and give them a chance to fix the situation. Upon calling, I learned that Charles is the owner of the company. I explained why I was unhappy--having paid for this service, I had now spent hours cleaning and had two repair jobs ahead of me. He offered to return $25, but I told him I would not pay more than $50. He got very angry and said, "You know, you didn't even let me get my Slurpee!" He further told me that he doesn't need customers like me or my business and that I should go ahead and write a bad review. He hung up and then sent a text that said, "Go ahead and cancel the check. I don't need your business. If you want to write a bad review that is within your right. God bless" (http://imgur.com/a/aZ5OI). Charles called back 20 minutes later, much more apologetic. He told me that he was ripping up my check and that I "basically got a removal service for free." He blamed his behavior on a bad day--he had had car trouble, the guy who was supposed to be working with him had been unable make it, etc. I agreed not to write a review because I felt that a full refund was a reasonable solution. I thought that that would be the end of it, but I was wrong. This morning, I got a call from Charles and a text that said, "Can you call me it's important." I replied that I would call him as soon as possible and returned his call a few hours later. He told me that he'd done a lot of thinking, that he has a family to feed, and that he "doesn't work for free." He then said, "I will bring you the check and you give me $50. How does that sound?" I refused and reminded him that we had had an agreement. He replied, "If you have a bad day, you still get paid, don't you?" I once again reminded him of our agreement. He replied, "I've learned a valuable lesson and you've learned a valuable lesson. Have a good day." I texted Charles to let him know that I was willing pay the $50 but that I would write a review of his poor service unless he offered me a full refund (http://imgur.com/a/X3dq6). He then accused me of blackmail and added that he is going to frame my check as a reminder to avoid "people like me." Hours later, I got another text from Charles. He informed me that he had cashed my check (the one he had previously claimed to have ripped up) and that I am now "free to write a review." And so I have. read more

I recently found a gorgeous armoire on craigslist, and after one look at it in person, I realized I would not be able to simply throw it on top of my SUV and drive it to my house as I had planned. This thing was HUGE (83"x54"X22") and very heavy. I called Charles and told him about my massive armoire and he quoted me $150 flat-rate to move it from SE DC to my house in NW DC, and was able to come out to help me out the next morning. He and his associate arrived early with a pickup truck, a couple dollies, moving blankets, and shrink wrap. They moved the piece out of the previous owner's house and into mine in no time. Charles and his associate were extremely polite and maintained an excellent attitude while moving my huge and heavy piece of furniture. They were creative and tenacious when dealing with my low ceiling in the staircase and a narrow landing at the top of the stairs.
