Edit: I received a call from the owner clarifying things. As the eviction was not a regular eviction due to the weather and the lack of sheriffs, they were not locked into legal requirements, which increase the fees significantly. I was actually charged a regular rate. I've moved them to four stars over my original two because of this update and the fact that the owner called enough to call me personally. I lost my father several months ago. During this time I discovered that a family member who had been entrusted with caring for his residence had decided to squat there. It took months to (legally) get her out, and for the day I was finally able to evict her, I hired this company to help. I have no complaints about their performance on the day of. However, I received a call today from one of the employees about completing the clean out. During this call I was informed that I had been charged an eviction rate. This rate is rather exorbitant in comparison to the regular rate that they charge. When he quoted me the price going forward, he made a big deal about the fact that they wouldn't be locked into an eviction rate anymore - and the difference was astounding. So my recommendation is that if you hire this company for an eviction you not let them know, otherwise you will be severely overpriced. My original quote was $120 per hour for two guys. Apparently, they also charge you a certain amount for each truck that is loaded and taken away, which I was not informed of before. I only received that information today during the follow-up call for more business. read more

The personnel were nice, but not the price. I called for a quote to haul an old standard-sized refrigerator. I was told they did on-site quotes and if I didn't like the quote for a I didn't have to pay. So, the movers get here and give me a quote of $175! I refused and apologized for them having wasted a trip. Then they ask "Well, how much did plan to spend?" I said "Not $175." Within 5 minutes, I receive a call from their manager offering to move the item for their minimum price of $98. When I refused, I was again asked "How much do you want to spend". I told them "Not twice what the item is worth". Today BGE came to pick it up for free...and gave me $50.00 for it. read more

They got back to me quickly with a pretty standard price (it was pretty much hitting everybody's minimum charge), and gave me a date/time that was quick and worked for me, minimizing time off from work. NEVER AGAIN! Customer service is lacking to say the least. I searched around for a dumpster rental to clean out my basement. I chose Junk King because of the ratings and the fact that they try to recycle the items rather than dump them. I have plenty of things that I knew they could indeed recycle and give to charity of whatever. Booking was easy and I scheduled for saturday MORNING! I notified the people that I had to help me load the dumpster to be here saturday morning. When overtime was offered at work for saturday, I declined and I rescheduled an appointment at Dept of Motor Vehicles. Today, saturday morning we are all here and ready!! We waited and nothing. I then get a call from Chris Jones. He says they were unloading the dumpster they had and I was next on the list and they would be here around 1115am. Now I'm mad because we have been here and ready since 9am. My so called MORNING appointment is now looking to be afternoon which I did not book for and I am holding my people up. Come 1215pm, an hour past the time I was told he would be here, I have not heard from him and my people are leaving. I call Junk King to cancel. The person at customer service was nice and asked me if I wanted him to call to see what the hold up was. I declined. The person who told me he would be here at 1115a should have called me and let me know what was happening. I told them to cancel the dumpster and refund my card. As soon as I hung up with customer service, I received a email for the cancellation and then my door bell rings. I answer and I tell the driver that I just cancelled the dumpster. He says to me, "oh I was going to give you an extra $50 off"....REALLY?!?! I explained how my people who were going to help me load the dumpster are now gone, I rescheduled a MVA appointment AND, I turned down 10 hours of overtime at work!!!! What exactly is 50 bucks going to do for me at this point?? All he could say was sorry about that, jumped in his truck and sped away. So now I am back to square one. I basement full of stuff and overtime money lost. Not to mention I now have to find another dumpster company and hope my friends want to help me out again once I do get one. We had a 6' maybe 60' long fence come down on one side of our property in Catonsville it was full of vines and weeds from the adjoining property a friend gave us Junk King telephone number and thank goodness we called polite courteous person on the phone took all the information gave us the first available which was next day and the young man called 20 minutes before he arrived on time had on company shirt with logo gave his name and accessed the property asked great question and gave a reasonable quote informed me there procedures and that he would be starting and that one of they trucks would be coming from the landfill shortly, We where extremely happy with this company and will use them again and recommend them to others. read more

A team of 3 hard workers showed up on time and removed a very large Viking refrigerator. Apparently the ice maker must've been leaking for awhile so the flooring underneath the refrigerator was soft, making the job significantly more challenging. They told me that their regular price was $148 (which to me was a ridiculous price), but would do the job for $128 (a competitor quoted me $80). When I said that $128 was too high and I wasn't interested they kept sending messages lowering the price. I keep saying that I was no longer interested in a business that didn't give me the lowest price to start. They kept sending messages lowering the price, each time to an eventual price of $68. I am speaking on a basic human level, as for legalities I am not a lawyer. Would you give away your deceased mother's vintage diamond wedding ring, most of her jewelry and her handwritten journal? Would you give away all your family photos and negatives from the 40's & 50's? Would you give away over $100,000 in personal items? I'm sure not one person just said yes to those questions. I would expect a company that is asked to "junk" these items would verify that the owner no longer wanted these items. Not the Junk King, he did not take the junk, he targeted valuables. I ask you please DO NOT HIRE Junk King because after all of that the owner, Eric, of this company said for $1500 he could get back my mothers ring, of course I paid and got a bag of fake rings and the one that was suppose to be my mothers I had never even seen before.
