Yelp comes thru again! It was a crazy downpour and most restaurants were closing so we came here. I had the crawfish gumbo which was superb. Our server, who was extremely friendly and patient with our group of kids, recommended their margaritas. YUMMY! We also had the lobster deviled eggs, fried oysters, and kids had burgers. The burgers were far above average for kid food. I would not have guessed this place was so good from the outside. The inside is small but very nicely decorated. OMG- in love with this sandwich at Matt's Fish Camp..... Lobster Reuben! First time we tried this restaurant, came for lunch after a few hours at the beach with some friends. Wonderful food, drinks, and overall relaxing experience. Great kids menu and our kids/friends all liked their meals. I had a drink special- Pineapple martini but had many other interesting cocktails and signature house made sodas we would like to go back and try. Menu has many options for large and small plates, salads, and sandwiches so whether you are super hungry or just want a small bite, they have you covered! Now back to this sandwich.... the Lobster Reuben was so good, exceptional really. The lobster was tender and buttered before being put on the sandwich, just the right amount of cheese and Cole slaw added to toasted buttered bread- going to admit I will have to get one more before we leave for the week. One more super cool thing- the pickle yellow squash and is part of the sandwich on the side, what a creative idea and I could have eaten a whole side of those alone, super fresh! Top notch dining experience on our first visit. My wife and I are (relatively) new to Delaware and treated ourselves to a spontaneous beach day. After spending the afternoon snacking on the beach we decided to go to Matt's Fish Camp for dinner and it didn't disappoint. The interior was well designed and trendy. The staff was well trained and engaged in our experience as customers. These elements reminded me of restaurants from my home town of Las Vegas. Clean. Bright. Concise menu. Thoughtful Specials. Fun drinks. This was some of the best food I've had out in weeks. We decided to share the Parker rolls, Nashville hot shrimp (special), the restaurant week special (fried chicken w mashed potatoes and green beans), salad and a lime pie. Parker rolls were warm and soft. The Nashville Hot Shrimp was super yummy. I don't know if it's really "Nashville hot". It almost had more Asian sweet and spicy vibes. They were delicious. The pickles on the side were super yummy. Very spicy, but really really yummy. The oysters were awesome. You can tell they take pride in where they source their seafood. High quality oysters are always a treat. They even have their own sauce specifically for their oysters. The sauce was delicious, but a little strong for those who like the taste of plain oysters. The fried chicken was really good. I'm not sure about top tier fried chicken, but it's up there. I've been lucky to have some of the best fried chicken in the country. This was good. Really good. The bacon corn gravy is was an interesting flavor profile. There was less corn and bacon flavor that I expected, but the chicken benefited front the bacon fat and the corn made it feel like a lighter gravy. The quantity of gravy was... a lots I could have made due with 1/2 the amount of gravy. The pie. That pie was delicious. I don't usually care for tart/sour pies. This may have changed my mind on that. So many details in that pie came through in each bite. From the coconut in the crust to the orange zest I'm the filing. That attention to building flavors is what made the dining experience a positive one. Lastly, the entire staff was great. From the host to the waitress. To the kitchen expo person and bartender who thanked us for joining on the way out. Those little details are what makes it easy to give 5 stars. When food is good, service is good, and the atmosphere is good. What more could one want? Will definitely go back. read more

I came here with my husband during a Fall weekend at the beach and really enjoyed the experience. The space is cozy and beachy, and our service was great. The onion ring appetizer was the highlight of the night and we also enjoyed the fire roasted oysters, and short rib stroganoff. Matt's Fish Camp hit it out of the park again on our recent visit during the long Easter Weekend. Hubby and I stopped in on a Monday night and our awesome waiter, Brian, informed us that it was Crab month and suggested the Blackened Crabcakes with Anson Mill Grits. Hubby jumped all over that but I am a scallop addict so I went with the Seared Scallops, fingerling potatoes, green beans, mushrooms and tomatoes. Hubby and I usually have eyes bigger than our bellies but this time we both practically licked our plates clean. Everything was phenomenal and for our first time trying grits, well just suffice to say that you set the bar very high so it's doubtful others will be able to compare, the sweet pieces of white corn just set it off perfectly. Brian should be commended for his incredible knowledge of every aspect of the menu and for making the perfect suggestions, not only to us but to other nearby tables. This was our first time here for lunch without a reservation. When we arrived we were seated at one of their corner booths to the far right. Matts is part of the Sodel Concepts restaurant group. Having been here, I decided to sign up for their Sodel email notifications. I already received some emails regarding upcoming Sodel events at their other locations. I started with their two elderflower old-fashioned with Makers Mark, elderflower, orange and house cherries for $13 each. We shared and enjoyed their fried calamari for $14. I also enjoyed their coastal comfort classic Matt's Fish Camp stew in spicy tomato broth, shrimp, clams, mussels, scallops, fin fish, house bread with optional pasta for $32. Our server Bethany L. recommended adding the optional pasta. It made the dish more filling. My total bill was $109 less gratuities. Bethany L. served our table well. Visiting from out of state, Matt's has been a staple in our vacation stops, year after year. Their consistent service and food is next to none, and know that you'll never leave hungry. The inside is usually crowded, so if you're planning to dine during peak hours, expect a wait. We have found that going around 8:30 pm gets us right to a table, and usually there isn't a wait. Highly recommend the chicken. Tender and crispy, with a good balance of flavor. It's massive, but because it's so good, I rarely need a take out box. Drinks are the best - beer, cider, and surprisingly good mixed cocktails. We had a few special drinks and were thoroughly impressed. Other recommendations: fish and chips, mussels, and hush puppies. This was not our original destination, but after reading some of the reviews of Bethany Beach restaurants, this turned out to be a huge shock! Crab ball appetizer was phenomenal! Not a lot of filler and sizable! Could have probably just had this for dinner. My husband enjoyed fish stew. It was brimming with all sorts of seafood and just the right portion for him. I had the fried oysters. Very tasty, even though they are normally something I eat in the colder months. We had wonderful drinks and dining outside just added to a wonderful evening! What a terrific find during our stay in nearby Ocean View, DE. Matt's delivered on all fronts: Service, atmosphere and quality food. A big group of about 12 of us came on a Sunday early afternoon for lunch and we could not have been happier with the service we received and the quality of food prepared for us. My wife and I were on the stretch end of a whole 30 diet, which meant a salad for me and Salmon for her. We were both very please wish our selection and the serving sides leave you full or taking things home. The balsamic on my salad was amazing, refreshing taste with a raspberry finish. They had a great kids menu for the boys and all of us left satisfied. The rest of the crew we were with were able to get the non whole 30 stuff and let me tell you the serving sizes are impressive, from hush Puppies to finish and chips everything comes large and the price is reasonable. They have a craft beer selection and the place is clean and the service was super friendly and understanding in making sure we stayed within our whole 30 diet restrictions. The broth was super tasty and I wish I had more of the toasted bread to sop it up. My wife ordered the lobster roll chock full of sweat chunks of lobster in a butter toasted bun. It came with home made chips which were super crunchy. I ordered a side of hush puppies which I have to say were the best I have ever had. I even took another order home for later. Recently tried Matt's fish camp for the first time and enjoyed our experience. We started with their sangria which was delicious, followed by their hush puppies and lobster pierogi special. We really enjoyed the hush puppies which came with a cinnamon maple butter! For our entrees we had the catfish po'boy, swordfish, beach burger, and fried chicken sandwich. So, we are down in this area a lot visiting family. This is our favorite place so far for seafood. We like the happy hour because they have local oysters for $1 each, a bunch of discounted appetizers that are very tasty (we've tried onion rings, calamari, mussels -- all great, and we also like their fish entrees (fried catfish and salmon were both great!). You also have to try their homemade sodas, the ginger one goes great with the fish dishes. There isn't really an ocean view, but it's still nice and relaxing on their second floor outdoor patio - recommended! read more

We have heard so much about this place and finally got around to stopping in. We sat on the picnic tables outside which was nice. They have a nice alcoholic drink selection plus home made soda's. My wife had the shrimp and grits with andouille sausage. It was very good. A little heat but not overwhelming. I had the Matt's fish camp stew. It was loaded with sea food. Cooked to perfection. Our daughter had the cheese burger from the children's menu. It was a very nice size for a kids burger. We Also had an order of crab balls. The size of the balls were bigger than most places at the beach and had hardly any filler in them. Overall this place was a huge hit. Wow! What an amazing experience! Husband and I are considering a relocation to Delaware and we're spending a few days exploring. We decided to try Matt's Fish Camp and we're so glad that we did! It was a bit crowded when we arrived and a manager wanted to seat us at the tiniest table in the place. We decided to sit at the bar. Not a mistake! Our bartender was very awesome and she was attentive without being intrusive. We loved her! She made us a wonderful pear flavored vodka martini that was epic! We got the onion rings and they are something to write home about. We each ordered a dinner and shared. Hubs got the cod (fish & chips) and I ordered the shrimp. My one and only complaint is that the cod portions have been reduced to half of what the older photos on Yelp portrayed. Instead of 4 pieces we got 2. There were plenty of shrimp (8).
