Tavern is the perfect description. First time here. We went for the wing special on Wednesday. We ordered wings and didn't give our usual request. Naked, hot and extra crispy. And they were perfect. Tried Mattingly's for the first time this week and loved every part of it! I'm not sure if they always have this special but I got the lunch special; it included 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and two cocktails that came in mason jars for $30. I paid a little extra to get their sampler appetizer to try out a bunch of different items so I know for the next time what to get. The Mac n'Cheese bites and the fried pickles were amazing! I highly suggest trying either of those if that's something you like. For entrees we got two chicken tenders. Seemed fresh and wasn't heavily breaded. The best part of the meal though was the side of "chips" that came with the chicken tenders. Half way between fries and chips, these were delicious. So crispy, so addictive! Honestly the whole meal was just tasty!! For the drinks we got two tequila sunrises and they were good. Very well balanced and by being in the mason jars it was easy to mix real quick to make sure it hadn't separated on the drive back to my house. I've never been inside this place because I only moved here about 3 months ago but the food is pretty good but expensive and small portions. Also they're losing a star for not putting the honey mustard on the sandwich and hiding the fact that the honey mustard isn't homemade. They should try making a homemade honey mustard. Went here with my girlfriend and her two friends to celebrate her 21st with some drinks. Being 20 I was the DD and ordered some water. As a person who does not consume alcohol on the daily or even know what half the things they said when they ordered I'm rating this Tavern on its service and responses based off the party. They all loved the drinks they were served. Mike the bartender was super attentive to us and made sure our night was special. He did the due diligence to check our IDs to withhold a proper standard and they started ordering away. He made some of his own drinks that he thought my girlfriend would like and she was super happy with the results. The girls where enjoying themselves to some tasty drinks and some recommended tunes the bartender asked us. He really made our night much more fun with his recommendations for drinks and accommodating anything we wanted. We arrived at 10pm ish and the kitchen was unfortunately already closed. My only highlight to making my time there better was to order some food to keep myself busy but that wasn't the case. Although I don't expect much from a bar for high quality food I was really looking forward to reviewing it. If I do happen to ever go back to this place I'm sure going to try out the kitchen. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone in the Warwick area. I hope my bar expertise will get better to offer more concise reviews but this will have to do for now. I get it. It's a bar. It's bar food. I don't expect Michelin rated levels of quality from an establishment like this. But let's get real here. This food, at best, is awful. The burgers are laughable, thin, tasteless, grade F beef patties that were thawed from god knows when they were thrown in their freezer and sentenced to death. The fries and really, every appetizer, are opened from a bag sourced from Costco and obliterated in the deep fryer, and just inedible. Even the stupid arcade games are inoperable (don't accept cash in the slot) making it a triple bogey for the course. BIG PASS. Do not come here if you have any respect for your stomach or what a good dive bar burger can be. 0 out of 5. Not only that, I've given this place two opportunities before I posted this. Came in today to grab a drink and lunch while in Florida and got despicable treatment from the owner Tom Mattingly. I sit at the bar and the friendly waitress (she must feel like a battered wife working under Tom) asks me politely what I want. As she is pouring the Stella I just ordered, the owner stands up from the only table that is occupied to ID me. After giving him my ID, he quickly says he cannot serve me because of my out of state Pennsylvania ID. I don't know exactly why that restaurant was completely empty during the height of the lunch rush, but having an owner that is so uninviting and makes his customers out to be liars might be a reason! If you want a good environment for lunch, just walk two doors down to Barrel 28. Much friendlier staff and they know how to read an out-of-state ID if your visiting. read more

Myself, my husband and a friend walked into Mattingly's during Phase 3 of Covid. The 3 of of us were camping nearby for the 4 of July and figured we would stop in for a drink and some dinner.  They told us we were not allowed to sit at the bar because there was 3 of us. They informed us that we could only sit 2 people at the bar.  This confused us because the regulations state if we come together and are staying together, we can sit together as long we are no more than a group of 10 and are spaced 6 feet apart from other guests which we would have been. In addition, we were confused because the Manager was sitting at the bar having a drink and he was prohibiting us from having a drink.  Based on his lack of knowledge of Covid and overall unprofessional and unwelcoming demeanor, we left and went to the establishment across the street where they greeted us warmly. They also informed us that the manager of Mattingly's had called them to warn them that we were "Covid spies" sent to be sure businesses were following guidelines. "Covid spies"? Really? We were simply patrons, following all rules, trying to celebrate our nation's birthday yet, we were discriminated against because they assumed we were spies. What does Mattingly's have to hide that they would deny us so quickly thinking we were spies? Makes me wonder... read more

Very limited menu, no help, the poor bartender is "the waitstaff", the cook doesn't know what " Med rare" means, therefore the burger was dry and the "no label" Ketchup didn't help, " No Chardonnay" was the final straw. I was traveling on the east coast visiting friends and we had heard from a local that the best wings in town were at mattinglys. So, our group gathered and went and found a table by the bar. The place was awesome. Not only was the food amazing (we ended up having several courses) but the friendly atmosphere and fun staff made the experience top notch. Perfect place for watching sports. We stopped by around 8pm on Father's Day after a hot day of playing golf. We were promptly greeted by Johnny and sat outside due to NY Covid phase. Beer selection was good. We had fried pickles as an appetizer and both of us had steak burgers with fries (like shaved potato skins) which were both excellent. Service was very good and nice banter with our server. I had a cheese burger, tasty with a crisp hunk of lettuce and tomato, the fries were good, too. I went in with too high of expectations. This is just a local bar with some quick bites. We went in and stood for 5 minutes at the bar before being noticed and told we could seat ourselves and order at the bar. We planned on getting wings for dinner there but with the inconsistent service and lack of knowledge on gluten free drinks at the bar, we ended up elsewhere. I want to say good things, I really do. Friends of mine had a poor experience when the restaurant first opened and I always like to give them time to work the kinks out. Now that things are opening up, we decided to try the food and dine in. We ordered the wings which are supposed to be awesome according to some reviews and I thought they were very mediocre. Meals we ordered: impossible burger was a small, hard, salty puck with nothing on it. Chicken tenders were so over cooked that some couldn't be eaten, flat fries were interesting but many were so over fried that oil oozed out of them and the fried chicken was average. We also ordered some Margaritas and they looked pretty but were so incredibly sour like someone doubled the sour mix concentrate and we couldn't finish them. I hope this review helps others with their decisions and hopefully is a wake up call for the restaurant that things are coming alive again and people want to come out to dine and be with others. The restaurant needs lots of refiguring. read more
