Takoyaki

This place is under new management. A lovely family took over not too long ago. Service time wasn't bad, the guest service was 5 Stars, the mom was so sweet! The inside is a bit small, so larger group more than 6 may have a little bit of a wait. But still try. We had a small party of 3. Location isn't the best as there isn't much visibility for the shop, as it is located near the back of the strip-mall-shop. So, we tried a few different things - all of which were good. I will rate them 1 to 10, 10 being the best, 1 being not the best. 1. All of the Ramen dishes were delicious, 9 out of 10 2. The karaage was so good 10 out of 10 3. Does Shumai also tasty, 6 out of 10. 4. The sushi was fresh and delicious, 7 out of 10 5. Spring rolls, very very tasty, came to the table piping hot 8 out of 10. 5. The takoyaki, really good, 8 out of 10 Overall great place, the new management is still working on their place, but you should give these guys a try. I'm going back again.

We went back and we're so incredibly sad. They changed owners and as of June 10, 2025 the people that used to run this place no longer do it. Although the name is the same, the interior has completely changed the cute kitschy interior is completely wiped out. The menu is completely different. Where they used to have a lot of different Ramen options and noodle options all gone. Now they just have three Ramen all for either 16 or $17 each. The rest of it was sushi. We went on a Saturday night at about 6 o'clock and there was literally nobody else there. The restaurant was empty of other customers and the parking lot was pretty empty too. I was so incredibly disappointed. I honestly did not eat the food and didn't even order. We turned around and walked out. I was just sad that I went to a place that was called the same name and it was nothing alike. We drove 30 minutes to this place and won't come back. I wish them the best, but this shake up was not for us. They were friendly. The place was still bright. And it seemed clean in front.

Service 10/10 Food 10/10 Sushi was fresh 10/10 I didn't know this place before the new owners and I got to talk them them very kind and sweet. For everyone saying that the menu is small they just opened up they will add more things to the menu just give them time. I wish and hope the best for them will continue to support them it does feel like a mom and pop shop love how it feels will add more pics when I come next time.

A family favorite. It's a small and cozy restaurant tucked in the heart of Canton. It seats literally like 20 people, so you always want to make sure you're going in between a rush. Everyone is always polite and efficient and the food comes out fast. You can't go wrong with ordering anything there, and it's affordable and so delicious. I've tried every single ramen dish on the menu and you literally cannot go wrong with anything. Although, we believe the owner (chef) is trying to retire and sell so hopefully if someone is buying it, they keep it the same. Otherwise, I encourage everyone to go visit Matsuchan before he officially retires!

Entrance. It can be easy to miss because the sign is the same color as next door.

Some of, if not the best ramen I've ever had. Everything is made from scratch including the noodles and it shows! I'd be surprised if they don't grow rapidly with this kind of quality. It's a small outfit for now with limited drink choices, though many are imports (no alcohol), but worth the visit to just try the ramen!

Update: came back and tried the Tantanmen. It's spicy but oh wow, this is my new favorite ramen. For those who don't know, Tantanmen is based off of the Sichuan dandan noodles dish. So Tantanmen is flavored with chili oil, sesame paste, and some soy milk I think. I tasted all of that! It's got the slightly nutty sesame flavor and the kick of the chili oil, added with some ground pork. It really amazed me. I think this is my favorite ramen dish now.

New ownership for a longtime Canton restaurant in a quiet strip mall on Sheldon Rd off of Ford Rd. Called to place a takeout order. Note: New number is 734-691-5045. Telephone number under former ownership is still listed on Yelp. Ordered over the phone for a california roll and chicken karaage appetizer. Cali roll was delicious, good sized pieces. The cali roll automatically comes with eel sauce on top so ask to not have sauce on it upon ordering if you definitely don't want eel sauce. The chicken karaage was tasty, crispy and seemed pre-marinated prior to frying. The dish comes with a light, sweet dipping sauce with a slight kick. The restaurant has been renovated and is very clean with a few tables for dining in. Upon arrival to pick up my order, the staff was very welcoming and courteous. Menu is limited but it provides the good basics of a simple japanese style meal. Ramen bowls, sushi, appetizers and a couple of poke bowls. Ample parking makes pickup easy when you order takeout.

Matsuchan is as authentic as you can get! It's owned by a very adorable family and the inside can only sear like 12 people. You can't miss the line of people waiting to get in either! I had corresponded with the business on their instagram and asked about vegetarian and vegan options and they sent me an entire list of things I could eat - UNREAL. I got some umeboshi onigiri which had the perfect amount of saltiness and deliciousness! I ordered their creamy vegetarian ramen and added and egg and the portion size was very generous. Be prepared to take a lot home!! 10/10 would recommend and would come back!!

The food is great and is so affordable! Big servings and the prices include taxes already. The service is quick. This vibes here are so homey and that's how you know the food hits!

Came back after several months as store was closed for renovations because owners retired and it changed hands. The good news is the interior looks clean and new....dirty carpet gone with pastel tile everywhere. Hours are 11:00 to 8 everyday with no more funky open/closed times. Bad news is smaller streamlined menu eliminating my wonderful "ramen set" for $11. In its place, was ramen bowl with thin sliced pork in light pork broth. Smelled like pork roast and was delicious! However, no seafood dumplings or fried rice...just pork slices over noodles at $16. Was it good and hearty? Yes. Was it impressive enough to bring me back? Don't think so.

Very cozy atmosphere. We arrived right when they opened at 5pm and the restaurant was filled in seconds. The portions are big and the prices are very reasonable. My husband and I shared the hot & spicy ramen and the eel rice. Wish this restaurant was closer to us!

Are there vegetarian options (not vegan, but not with fish stock or fish things)?

There is miso soup, miso ramen, vegetable and tofu ramen, Yakisoba with vegetables, fried rice, avocado roll, tossed salad, seaweed ramen, etc. Just remember to ask if there… Read more

Do you have any non pork ramen broth options?

I know that at least one is made with fish broth. They also have a full vegetarian ramen option. I would think that you could customize if you asked.

Is the meat here halal?

It is not.

Is there indoor dining?

Yes. There is seating for about 12-15.

Do they make their own noodles?

It seems that they are no longer open for dinner during the week?

I've gone multiple times on the weekend for lunch! They do close around 1pm and reopen for dinner

As one who hasn't really ventured beyond Sushi, what are a few recommended dishes? Thanks in…

The ramen set is nice to have a sample of everything. It comes with fried rice, shumai and ramen. The fried rice has a more milder taste than Chinese fried rice and the rice is slightly fluffier in my opinion. The shumai (seafood dumpling) really… Read more

The Hot & Spicy is indeed pretty spicy, I've tried a few including the Miso Porksoup and Porksoup which are probably my favorites.

We had a lovely meal here! My husband, baby, and I stopped in for a bit of an early dinner so we…read morewere able to be seated immediately. We were in the mood for some good ramen, and that's exactly what we got. We started with some steamed dumplings that were pretty solid. For our entree we split the tonkotsu ramen and a few rolls. We really liked all of these and I can't wait to try more things on the menu. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and had great recommendations. The atmosphere was moody in a fun way. Definitely check them out!

Made no reservations on a Sunday night. Requested for a booth table. Was seated after 5 minutes…read moreof waiting. The servers were very courteous and always smiling, looked nice in their all black shirt, pants and apron. Modern interior ... elements of wood, vinyl red upholstery, and lots of japanese lanterns hanging by the sushi bar and kitchen area. Lots of elbow room and proportional height of the dining table. And in each table, they would place on top of each sushi plate a thick paper napkin, and chopstick with their logo printed on the front. Very hot water is served in a ceramic sake cup. For a group of three, we ordered the highly recommended Tonkotso Ramen $18, Stir fry noodles $16, and Chicken Katsu Curry Bowl $17. There was a strange smell of the bowl used to served the stir fry noodles and it tasted bland .. but for Ramen noodles, I very much enjoyed enjoyed eating the thin noodles garnished with chashiu, soft boiled egg, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, nori and corn - the only downside is the broth was easily absorb by the noodles so you might need to order extra broth for additional $5. The breaded chicken breast is good in proportion enough to feed three and the curry sauce was ok ... maybe a few pieces of carrot would have been great. I do commend how they prepared the egg and created a very nice plating of it on top of the rice. At first, we hesitated to dine in because of the reviews like slow service but actually it seems that the food and drinks were served more or less 10-15 minutes. Just about right when you want your food to be prepared by them the right way. Free parking. Dining area is warm so don't bother wearing a thick jacket inside.
