Husband's bulgogi mountain
Michele B.

Korean food is amazing. With that being said, Korean food at a restaurant is usually a tough thing to have and taste authentic, sometimes. This place, serves the most amazing Korean dishes that leave me wanting MORE! Their Korean fried chicken is the stuff that dreams are made of. Just enough spiciness, sweetness and tanginess to have you weak in the knees. Their bulgogi is delicious and seasoned just right. The bimbimbap in a stone bowl comes out piping hot and creates the crunchy crust of rice at the bottom. The restaurant itself is in a modest strip mall close to IKEA. Not fancy but WOW the food! Our server has seen us twice already and both times greeted us like we were some friends of his visiting from college. Very familiar and comfortable. The kimchi is amazing, as one would hope, as that is the namesake of the restaurant. Go there and try them out today!

Great service, funny and friendly. So many menu choices it was difficult where to start because it all sounds good. It was our first visit to this restaurant and again, another discovery in our own backyard. So glad we came here! We shared the Kimchi pancake- YUM! I had the Bibimbap on the stone bowl and then my friends had the bulgobi bbq and short rib bbq. The restaurant isn't set up to do your own bbq at the table but it was still DELICIOUS! We saw some people do hotpot at the table so we'll try that next time. I appreciate so much that we can have so many really great food in Canton with so many options. This mom and pop place is a hit! Come in large groups, come with a date. It's fun for all!

Bulgogi soup . Greasy sweet and flavorful

Kimmari - little fried glass noodles with a sweet and sour sauce. They were fine. Nothing wrong with them. Maybe just not my jam. Doek bokki - gochujang forward, with rice dumplings and glass noodles , very interesting, there were also triangles of fish cakes of some sort. Once you've eaten several spoonfuls, it can become quote spicy. The rice dumplings had a chewiness to them. I wish there were some crunchy textures to it as well. Korean fried chicken - nice breading, which would have been crispy and better if we ate at the restaurant. The peanuts added nice nuttiness. Requested the hot sauce instead of the sweet sauce, but it was still quite sweet. Bulgogi soup- the vegetables in this dish were onions and spring onions, the bulgogi was exactly what you would think of when you think of bulgogi. The beef is a fatty meat, and I thought the broth ate a bit greasy. It reminded me of French onion soup. When eaten with the kimchi and pickled vegetables, it really helped balance it out. They were necessary. Tldr - as expected korean food. I would go back and try ordering differently

Military Soup

Everything at this restaurant was amazing. I came here with my best friend for dinner and ordered the military stew. Our server Eric was so funny and kind and the food was some of the best Ive ever had. This place is definitely being added in my rotation for its service food and cozy vibes.

Chicken Katsu, fixings, and whatnot

"Imagine me and you, I do. I think about you day and night. It's only right to think about the [food] you love." There were a lot of things to look at on the menu, but I was hungry. I wanted to read, but I wanted to eat. I wanted to be adventurous, but I wanted food now. So feeling like a basic bench, I ordered the chicken katsu because it was something I knew and usually enjoyed while my +1 ordered the bulgogi. I was a little disappointed in myself for not ordering something more specifically Korean, but whatever. I was ready to eat. After my first bite into the chicken katsu, The Turtle's "So Happy Together" was playing on repeat in my head. (I might also be listening to it on repeat as I write this review.) It might have been the best chicken katsu I'd ever had in my life. The chicken was perfectly moist. The breading wasn't heavy; it just added that perfect crunch. The kimchi pancake? Not too spicy but lots of flavor. The bulgogi? Knocked it out of the park. Honestly, I'm so angry at myself for never having gone to this place sooner. You bet your bottom dollar, I'll be back sometime again soon. In the meantime, I'll be dreaming of that chicken katsu... "I can't see me loving nobody but you for all my life."

This is a true staple for us- we love coming here. It is a family-run restaurant and you can feel how much love they pour into their food. Our favorites are the champong, japchae, seafood soon du bu, spicy rice cakes, and the dolsot bibimbap. You won't regret coming here!

The food was delicious! I had Beef Bulgogi and my husband had Bulgogi soup. Both had very good flavor. I do wish my beef bulgogi came with carrots and broccoli. The sticky rice was the best I ever had. I did try the side dishes, but it just wasn't for me. The service was very fast. There really wasn't an ambiance, however the food we had was excellent. The waiter/owner, had a really great sense of humor. When we paid our bill he said "See ya tomorrow".

Came in on a Wednesday night & it was pretty busy. I ordered the bulgogi, & it came with a side of rice. They gave us korean appetizers before our entree arrived, and they were pretty good. The bulgogi doesn't really taste like the bulgogi i would get at a kbbq restaurant. I probably wouldn't get it again. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't the best I've had! We also had ordered calamari for appetizer. First off, it was really bland, even tho the seasoning came on the side. Second, the batter was weird.

I had been visiting Matsu-Chan a few times a year since 2009 when I was a university student in the…read moreJapanese [language] minor program and a lot of my classmates would also frequent. After graduating my girlfriend [now wife] and I would make it a point to try and eat at Matsu-Chan when in the area, even after our first kiddo, and eventually our second. Last year before one of our trips to the area my wife let me know that they were under new management and when I looked at the new menu, I was saddened that all of my favorite items were no longer present, and it seemed that my beloved little slice of Japan was now "just" a ramen shop. While my wife loves and can handle ramen and the broth, I would typically get the different rice bowls, or other entrees because while I love me some good ramen it doesn't work out well for me with the hour or so trip to the area. We'd get some rolls, takoyaki, and other appetizers to share around the table before digging into our main entrees. With the increased prices, and fewer options, I will end up going to any of the multitude of places [Aji-ten is usually our #2] to get my kick. I'll miss the little shop and the times I've had, like perusing the manga while waiting for a table. I wish the old owners the best, and the new management as well, especially if it was a familial transfer, but Matsu-Chan is not for me anymore. My wife will eventually get up there and let me know how it is, but for now, I'm just happy that a little bento shop opened near my workplace run by two first gen transplants, so I can at least get my fix without the drive.

My friend arrived first and grabbed the last available table during a busy lunch rush. I am…read moregrateful I did not have to wait since I tend to get hangry. Others following us added their names to the waitlist. The restaurant is small with just a handful of tables. One chef, it appears, prepared all the meals. I barely glanced at the menu; I already knew I was having the ramen. The only question was which one. My friend selected the eel bowl while I had the miso pork soup. The latter was served with sliced pork, bamboo shoots, fish cake, and seaweed. The broth was full of flavor; I enjoyed every slurp. I appreciated that the meal was sizeable and inexpensive - I was able to stretch it to two meals. We did not linger given the number of people waiting.

We were in the mood for some good ramen, and that's exactly what we got. We started with some steamed dumplings that were pretty solid. For our entree we split the tonkotsu ramen and a few rolls. We really liked all of these and I can't wait to try more things on the menu. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and had great recommendations. The atmosphere was moody in a fun way. Definitely check them out!

Made no reservations on a Sunday night. Requested for a booth table. Was seated after 5 minutes…read moreof waiting. The servers were very courteous and always smiling, looked nice in their all black shirt, pants and apron. Modern interior ... elements of wood, vinyl red upholstery, and lots of japanese lanterns hanging by the sushi bar and kitchen area. Lots of elbow room and proportional height of the dining table. And in each table, they would place on top of each sushi plate a thick paper napkin, and chopstick with their logo printed on the front. Very hot water is served in a ceramic sake cup. For a group of three, we ordered the highly recommended Tonkotso Ramen $18, Stir fry noodles $16, and Chicken Katsu Curry Bowl $17. There was a strange smell of the bowl used to served the stir fry noodles and it tasted bland .. but for Ramen noodles, I very much enjoyed enjoyed eating the thin noodles garnished with chashiu, soft boiled egg, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, nori and corn - the only downside is the broth was easily absorb by the noodles so you might need to order extra broth for additional $5. The breaded chicken breast is good in proportion enough to feed three and the curry sauce was ok ... maybe a few pieces of carrot would have been great. I do commend how they prepared the egg and created a very nice plating of it on top of the rice. At first, we hesitated to dine in because of the reviews like slow service but actually it seems that the food and drinks were served more or less 10-15 minutes. Just about right when you want your food to be prepared by them the right way. Free parking. Dining area is warm so don't bother wearing a thick jacket inside.
