Disappointing update. At our last visit, we noticed the food wasn't as good as previous visits. We didn't dine here for a while and returned hoping that it was just a "one-off." It was not. So many things have changed. Notably, the quality of the meats is not the same. The prices have increased and the experience has declined dramatically. There are so many elements that were so good. Now, the meat doesn't even have the right color, the cuts are poor, the quality is down. We used to enjoy the corn cheese, filled with gooey cheese and great flavors. Now, it is more like a can of corn with a slight bit of cheese. No cheese pull here. The presentation previously included some nice vegetables to cook along side the proteins. This time, a thin slice of sweet potato was served and a slice of onion. They have cut corners extensively and it is very obvious. I am aware that costs are high and times are challenging. But, the prices are higher, this should result in a high quality experience and it does not. This was one of our favorite KBBQ spots. That is no longer the case, we will not be returning. read more

Disappointed tonight. Chicken wasn't very hot when served, and no sesame seeds. Sauce was still delicious, but the chicken should be piping fresh, not off a warmer tray. It made a huge difference. Bibimbap bowl was not nearly as full as usual, and had no black beans, spinach or corn. It was kale, and a lot of lettuce. Beef and japchae noodles in it was still delicious, but again, inconsistent with better earlier experiences. My husband said he didn't want to go back. Sad. read more

My husband and I stopped by for lunch, and while the restaurant wasn't very busy, the service felt a bit slow--though the staff made up for it by being genuinely friendly. I arrived before my husband and was initially given what I think was a dinner menu. It wasn't until I asked about Korean corn dogs (thanks to my daughter constantly talking about them after seeing them on TikTok!) that I was given the lunch menu instead. The lunch menu felt more approachable, especially if you're new to Korean BBQ. We decided on the Modz Dogs (Korean Corn Dogs) and the BBQ Chicken & Avocado Kimchi Lunch Box. The Modz Dogs were a fun surprise--crispy, slightly sweet, and cheesy, kind of like eating an upgraded elephant ear with cheese. At $7.50 for two, it felt like a great deal. Honestly, I wish they sold these at carnivals! The lunch box was also a hit. The BBQ chicken was flavorful, the avocado added a nice creamy contrast, and the glass noodles were perfectly cooked. It came with a few tasty sides--fresh broccoli, some spicy cabbage, and a creamy macaroni salad. We added a drizzle of yum yum sauce over everything, and it really tied it all together. At $14 per lunch box, we felt like we got great value for the portion size--we even had leftovers. All in all, we left happy and full. I love this restaurant and the staff that I had a conversation with was SO friendly and even offered me extra sauce free of charge despite the plus charge that's usually placed on them: that's customer service. The sandwich saved the place from getting a 1 star. It was awesome and only $7.50. The service is non existent. They seat you and give you an iPad. For the first time I didn't end up smelling like Korean Bbq:-) Food was good - japjae, marinated beef and fat induced pork belly grilled. I very much like their gas grill that has a vacuum to pick up the smoke. They serve a lot of side dishes and there is a lot of heat in the soup and kimchi. The food portions for two was actually a lot for 3 to 4 people. Very affordable and many food items on the menu beside the bbq but also bibimbap and the popular Korean Fried Chicken. Although the music was a bit loud, still Highly recommend this location for the Korean bbq grill experience and vibe! Initially we only saw their kimchi box menu. but we opted for the Korean bbq, which looks like their "plus" Used to the all you can eat Korean bbq place at home, and this place does some things differently but other things not at great. They didn't offer explanations for their style of bbq. So a lot was kind of guesswork. They turned on our burners, put some egg and corn cheese into the hot plate, gave us lots of little plates and a big platter and we went to town. The flavors of their sides were good but very much relied on fats to bring the flavor. I do appeciate that they swapped out our cooking plate to a grill grid to cook the heavily sauced bulgolgi. They didn't swap it back when we went to cook the second piece of pork belly. Ended up with a hibachi by the end of things. Lots of flare ups. We did find the lard to season the grill plate...after we finished cooking. The egg was good but didn't release from the plate easily, so it was very burnt by the end of things. Compared to the local Korean bbq places around my home town, it's a bit pricier with less choice and a small increase in quality. My family and I ordered japchae and combo B that came with kalbi, spicy pork, chadol, and pork belly. My favorite was the kalbi!! I see they don't offer their supreme sauce here only the soy garlic or Korean sassy. I was a bit reluctant to order the Tteokbokki, since I have never had well executed Tteokbokki from any Kimchi Box Novi or Troy location), yet. Our waiter noted to make sure the rice cake is a bit more harder and chewier. Also ordered the 12 piece popcorn chicken with supreme sauce, kimchi box plus rice with chicken instead of sausage and 2 hot teas. $40.28 The Tteokbokki was soft, you can tell when you grab the rice cake with your chopsticks and it easily squishes into the cake with hardly a squeeze. The first one was soft, the second try was still soft, but not as soft, still not the al dente we prefer though. Gave up after two tries and still falling short of how we like our tteokbokki. The tteokbokki sauce is good at least. The popcorn chicken is as expected, crispy on the outside and a bit overcooked on the inside. The supreme sauce is good. Was searching for a place to eat late night on a Sunday. Extremely glad we were able to find a place open until 10pm as a lot of places close early on Sundays. Got here around 8:50pm and we were told BBQ was not available as it was too late and the kitchen closes at 9:30pm. We were okay with this and went through the menu to order few dishes. As it was a late night on a Sunday, we only saw two other tables besides us and they even were gone by the time we were digging into our dishes. Got Soon Doon Boo, Jeyuk Kimchi, Jjajangmyun and Savory Seafood Pancake with plenty of side dishes. Started off with Sapporo draft beers and they were ice cold refreshing! Best way to end a long day. Unfortunately, Yukae was all out so we were not able to have it. Maybe for the next time. All the dishes came out soon enough and met my expectations of Korean food. Soon Doo Boo seemed to be a little spicier than expected. Maybe could have asked for mild spiciness. Overall, good food, fast and friendly service, clean atmosphere! Over the last few years, Kimchi Box has opened several locations nearby so I had been promising myself a visit. It had been a while since I viewed the menu online so I wasn't sure what to expect of this new location. Note that this place is billed as Kimchi Box + Korean BBQ so there is greater variety here. The restaurant was relatively empty when I arrived but take-out was going strong. Every table included space/equipment for the typical communal, self-serve barbecue; a shiny new air vent system is above each table. I always like to try things I've never had before, so I went with the seafood pancake as a starter and the spicy pork bulgogi box for the entrée. I savored the seafood pancake; it was light and delicious, with thinly sliced squid and baby shrimp. I liked the spicy pork bulgogi box a lot. First, I like sampling different things, and the bulgogi box offered exactly that. The thinly sliced spicy pork was flavorful and not too spicy. It was accompanied by japchae (a stir-fry of glass noodles, veggies, and beef), salad, rice, and a fried gyoza. Second, it was a lovely combination of tastes, textures, and temperatures. The husband and I had an urgent need to get something for lunch before going to Trader Joe's to avoid buying out the whole store and walked into this Kimchi Box location hopeful they would have a table. They were booked solid, but they said they have space at the counter if we wanted to order from the non BBQ menu and we happily took them up on that. It didn't seem like people usually sit there, but they treated us to excellent service nonetheless and set us up with menus and brought banchan (little side dishes of mostly pickled veggies of varying spiciness and/or sweetness) while we made our selections. We got Duk-Bok-Ki (ttaekbokki) and it was perfection with a spicy, slightly sweet sauce with chewy rice cakes, boiled egg, and fish cake that hit the spot and kept us from going of the rails during our Trader Joe's haul. Our favorite was the chaldol (not marinated) and beef short plate (marinated). Comes with good amount of banchan including my favorite the potato salad. Doesn't come with white rice and they do not have a sauce station where you can make your own sauce. Instead, you're provided with a sesame oil/salt dipping sauce and samjang as well. Service was pretty good in the beginning when it wasn't busy and our server was attentive but once the restaurant filled up it was challenging to get the servers attention and he hardly came by anymore. They are not like any other Kimchi Box - the "plus" means they also have Korean BBQ. I ordered the Bulgogi Box, Cheese Corn, and a 6 piece of Soy Garlic wings. Overall this was fairly expensive, I think it cost me almost $40. The cheese corn was definitely not my favorite from here. It was overly creamy, tasted like mayo, super weird tang, and I was not a fan. The Bulgogi box I thought was delicious and the rice was a perfect texture. The wings we ordered were soy garlic, so big and so crispy! The wings were really the show stopper here. 10/10 would absolutely come back. The YukGaeJang is spicy and delicious! This soup comes with rice and banchan (today was kimchi, radish and fish cake). I've had their SoonDuBu several months ago and at that time I enjoyed the soup BUT I'm actually not a seafood fan (it was a mild seafood flavor so it was good for me). I would warn my friends who love seafood, since it is likely to NOT have enough of the seafood flavor they love in this dish. My hubby enjoys their wings and my friend liked her BiBimNagmeun (spice on the side) but noted that it was pretty bland but much better after adding the spice, mustard and vinegar. Our server was excellent (non-Korean) spoke English and was very attentive. I came many months ago just after they first opened and their service was only so-so (at that time, I would say this restaurant wouldn't be a place I would recommend for those who don't know Korean food) but now I do feel better about their service and they finally got our order correct! KBP finally opened this weekend for their soft opening. My hubs and I got a chance to visit the second day and were so pleased with the service and quality of food. This location reminds me of a lot of kbbq places in LA- no fluffs. Just tables with grills and a very clean and simple aesthetics. Since it was the soft opening, the full menu wasn't available but luckily they had what we went for-BBQ. We got the smallest combo and was so stuffed by the end of the meal. The first combo comes with chadol (beef brisket), bulgogi, and pork belly. I honestly can say I have not had this quality of meat in other KBBQ places in Michigan. The combo also came with corn cheese and egg souffle and of course banchan- which was also so fresh and delicious. Can't wait to come back and try their other dishes and more BBQ. I was expecting them to have the standard options from other KB kocations, but they didn't which is fine since this restaurant is geared more towards BBQ and other traditional Korean dishes. This location was really delicious. I believe this is our third location to try. One of the kids was really craving this place and we heard they had a different take on their typical restaurant which was the addition of the BBQ stations. This was a nice space with a little bar and plenty of tables. The people working here were extremely friendly and extremely tentative to our table. I appreciate all of the kind attention they gave us. We got the plus menu but had to ask for the regular Kimchi Box menu. I wish you could scan or get both at the same time, because we wanted items on both menus. I really enjoyed their incredibly larger portions, please never change!!!! I am a leftover queen and enjoyed having tons of food for the following day's meals. We tried their garlic soy popcorn chicken, always a favorite. Do not change the recipe, ever! So crispy and crunch and a nice size portion, we could not finish it. We got the japchae noodles, which were some of the best I have ever tasted, plus another large portion, to be finished later. The sides were all good. The jalapenos were so spicy and delicious, the spice stayed with me for quite a while, but I enjoyed it. I liked the broccoli with crab and the other sides as well. We had a crispy chicken sandwich with the sassy fries, and I think you must get those fries. They are incredible and crispy. The sauce and cheese are amazing. We had a chicken bibimbap, really great, some at the table thought it was the best we have had in a while and we have been eating this dish for decades. Lastly, we got the bulgogi beef box and added avocado. The beef was excellent. I loved the crispy sweet potatoes and the rice cakes were chewy and amazing. They also gave us all three sauces at the table, the mild, sassy, and spicy. So good, they could bottle and sell them. While the meals are average price, our bill was lower than normal, it was a great deal here. I cannot wait to come back, I am dreaming about their food right now. Overall we love kimchi box and it is typically a solid choice for crispy, crunchy, flavor filled chicken. However l, recently it seems their quality of chicken has steadily gone downhill. Tonight I bit into what I thought was just a smaller sized wing. To my dismay, the chicken wing was broken and a sharp piece of bone nicked my lip. I am disappointed as this is not the first time it has happened at kimchi box. Unfortunately, this (to me) is indicative of a lower quality chicken wing. Bdubz went down this same path and cut corners to save on costs and compromised their quality. The staff was amazing everyone was so nice and helpful and the recommendation were tasty. The staff and I mean everyone there working were polite and kept going around asking if everything was okay if I needed anything. When I got there there was only one other table but before I even ordered 3 other tables were filled and by the time I got my food the whole place was full. The food was fresh. The Korean bbq pork belly and veggies were amazing. The red bean bao was steaming fresh and full of flavor. I highly recommend and will be going back to try out the soups that were recommend. When I first came across this place, I thought it was going to be a take-out restaurant only. The restaurant is embedded within a strip mall. From the outside, it appears smaller than it actually is. I enjoyed the simple decor inside. I really don't care for restaurants that have extremely low lighting. I enjoy a restaurant where you can also see the sunshine. My first time here and didn't really know much about the menu, but it was great experience! My friend and I went for lunch and choose 2 teams each, so we could share/ taste different things (lunch menu?) but I was so hungry I also got steamed dumplings. She had spicy pork and a cold noodle dish, I had Honey BBQ pork (belly) and Kimchi stew. Everything had great flavors, but the cold noodle dish was our least favorite; not used to that. The pork entrees were sizzling when brought out on skillets (like fajitas come on) and I loved the stew: good spice level and being hot temperature wise, I Really enjoyed it! The staff were So welcoming and friendly, making sure we knew/ liked spicy food to ensure we enjoyed our meal. One young lady even "educated" us on how the noodle dish was supposed to be enjoyed, asking if we wanted scissors to cut the noodles, "It's easier to eat" and after cutting them said, "can I show you how?" and used my friends chopsticks to then spread out the noodles so she could use the hot mustard and vinegar to her liking. Even saying, " just 1 drop of each to start and put more after if you like." The decor is very simple and more modern, each table has its own little BBQ burner in the middle of the table and a steam vent right over them. ** Make sure to look for the burner control box under the table because I smacked my leg sitting down. The quality of the meats is very good, although I must withhold 1 star because I've had much better. Variety of side-dishes that come along with their bbq entrees is 4/5 as well. The prices did definitely seem to be high...but so is everything else nowadays so I'm not sure of the value for $.
