    Rainbow roll and Salmon roll
    Sara M.

The ambiance was amazing. A lot of fun, and felt really legit. Authentic alcohol bottles, ribbons, and banners bring life and color to the walls. The lighting is warm and moody. There's room, but eating inside gives a very pleasant community atmosphere, like you're dining alone and yet together. The service was fine. They provide you with a binder with actual, printed pictures of each menu item (printed photos, like the kind you would get developed yourself at Walgreens.) I loved this touch- it felt inviting, home-y, and accessible for non Japanese. I got two sushi rolls which were not particularly generous. The fish was fresh and colorful enough, but you get exactly what you ask for and nothing more. Didn't love that. The salmon roll is just salmon with a bit of wasabi smeared inside. The soy sauce available is Kikkoman, which is fine. The prices were high but still in the competitive range. The restroom was clean. The place is obviously beloved as it was absolutely packed, but IDK... there are several sushi spots in this market. I think they could offer their patrons a little extra to make the experience excellent.

This place is way overpriced and quality sucks now. The only people that come here are Japanese expats because they are home sick and willing to over pay for basic items. Sushi, $3.80 a piece. Fish is thin, rice break apart once you attempt to pick it up. Fish taste fresh though. I have the worst katsudon here. Pork cutlet is tough and dry like I cook it at home. Portion is small too. The small plates are very expensive but nothing is marinated. Even salad they change to plain shredded cabbage. Chef is drunk and lazy because he can get away with it.

An authentic Japanese restaurant, recommend it if you also love Japanese food! Yakitori, gizzard, potato salad are great!! The niku tofu and beef and asparagus may go better with rice than being alone( slightly salty). HIRE katsu is beef katsu, goes well with the salad at side.

Moved to the area months ago and this has become our weekly spot because we love it so much! Very authentic Japanese restaurant, quality traditional dishes and everyone speaks Japanese. Its without a doubt, the best sushi in the area and we rave to all of our friends to come try this place. The sushi rice, the way it's prepared, this makes a huge difference!! We enjoy traditional nigiri and sashimi sushi and from all the sushi places in the area, the quality of fish here is night and day compared to other places! The server Amy, is so warm and loving and you just feel so loved and welcomed. She knows us by our first names. She's the best!! The food is fantastic, and the experience is even better. Sushi chef greets you and says goodbye. You can feel the love when you dine here! Definitely recommend giving it a try!! Our must haves: Fried calamari, it's a small portion but made to perfection. Beef teriyaki - order the dinner portion instead of app and it comes with tempura shrimp and vegetables! The nigiri: especially tuna and salmon! Their tamago is also elite.

They went above and beyond with designing up the interior space to make it appear like you might be in a small alleyway grabbing some food, very night market-style! Our waiter - Ruby!!! - was absolutely incredible from start to finish and given that I came here with 2 of my friends and it was all of our first times, she was able to break everything down for us succinctly and clearly. There is definitely a time limit per table - 90 minutes - and that pressure is put on you right away, but it ended up being the perfect amount of time so we didn't feel entirely rushed at the end of the meal by any means. It was just a lot at the top that essentially as soon as you are seated at your table, your time begins! So if you haven't been here before, I would definitely recommend taking a look at the menu ahead of time if you can just to get a bit of the lay of the land and make that start of the process easier. We had to choose right away which level of dining we were going to go for and thankfully, my group and I are very decisive so it wasn't a long conversation to decide (especially given the entire table needs to do the same level as well. Ultimately, we went with the Gold Wagyu set, which gives you Japanese Wagyu! I have heard the basic wagyu set (American wagyu) is not good, but that the Silver Wagyu set (Australian wagyu) is definitely decent. For our first time, we wanted to ball out and it was absolutely worth it! Each set gives you specific limited items as well and the ones at the Gold level - especially the wagyu nigiri - were to die for! Service was crazy fast, we placed an order for all of our meats and other side dishes we might be interested in on the tablet and then went up to the counter to get our sauces and other side dishes. By the time we got back to the table, all of our ordered items were there in a tower at our table and we basically only got up once or twice after that to replenish side dishes for the rest of the time. Everything we had was DELICIOUS, but the particular stars aside from the wagyu nigiri, were all the Japanese wagyu dishes AND the chicken skin gyoza. Holy guacamole we got so many of those lil chicken skin buggers because they were ADDICTING and I have never had anything quite so yummy before! I completely get the hype of Chubby Cattle! It is unlike hotpot anywhere else in Michigan right now so is definitely a place you want to check out if you're a lover of the hotpot style of dining. So fun, such a great time! I will definitely be back soon!

The premade food choices are growing by the day. They are always adding to their offerings with new flavors and tastes. I started coming to One world market in 1997 when it was first home by a husband and wife team. It was very special at that time to have a Japanese focused grocery store and I was so happy to have one in the Novi area. This has been my go-to for decades now. When it was transitioning from private ownership to the Noble Village group, owned by True World group, there was a transitional decline, thankfully, that didn't last long and things are developing very nicely. I hear even more growth is on the horizon as they establish an even greater presence in the building next door. I am also thankful that the integrity and the high-quality is very much present and everything they do. He did change our reservation time twice for us but that was the extent of my good experience here. Because of traffic, the friend meeting me was a little late so I sat alone for a little bit. I told our waitress that... she came back a little bit later saying "are you ready to order" .... My friend still hadn't come and I already told her that. The thing is, I understand forgetting so that's what I thought happened. But it became clear that her attitude was intentional. While I was sitting alone, I noticed an ant crawling on my table that I had to kill & I was seated next to some windows and there was subsequently a FLY that I also had to kill ("but you didn't have to kill it"... shut up yes I did) I also had a sushi menu that was already written on. I dont know weird. I understand the appeal of the old house converted into a nice restaurant but it still just smelled like old house and lowkey like rotting wood. The windows also were clean. I dont know it was just bad ambience until it got dark. NOW THE FOOD... The miso soup was my favorite thing on the menu. So that is saying something. My two rolls were underwhelming at best. The fish was chewy.. but a bad chewy. There was barely any fish. The cucumber kimchi was bad. The cucumbers were not good quality. It felt like they were old actually. At the end, our waitress was lowkey rushing us. I swear it was the most I had seen her all night. She set the bill down, would split it for us... she said she'd split it after we put our cards down... what does that mean??? So whatever, me and my friend just paid 50/50 on the bill. (Even tho the menu expressly said that they can't split bills for parties of more than 8). We were only two people. Whatever. Dont come here unless you're just interested in cute vibes.

My biggest con about this place is the layout of the restaurant. My party made reservations in advance for 8 people. Since this was our first time there, we weren't aware that all booths were only for 4 people, with no larger accommodations available. Despite our reservation, we ended up having to wait about 30 minutes for two tables to open up. They weren't even in the same part of the restaurant, unfortunately splitting up our party for our entire stay. The worst part is that three of the booths are directly in front of the door. It's Michigan, so every time that door is opened you are blasted with cold air to the point that everyone was eating with winter jackets on. I was seated in the second row into the restaurant and was still chilled every time the door was opened. Each table is supposed to have a plate deposit where it keeps track of how much you are charged. However, our table's plate deposit was broken and we were told to keep our plates on our table and add them up manually. This led to us having to keep a bunch of dirty plates in piles on the cramped table while we ate, not appetizing. This led to us being unable to pay on the tv, and to pay with one of the waiters. We handed the waiter our credit card to pay, and they ended up disappearing for about 45 minutes. We had to call over several people to track down the person that took our credit card so we could finally leave (the dirty plates stayed the entire time on the table). The sushi was yummy but those prices really add up quick. Each plate is almost 4$ and has two rolls each so you're left to either eat until you're full and have a high bill / keep track of your bill and end up hungry. Overall had a fun but frustrating experience. I've tried it once so I will recommend others to skip this place and head over to One World Market or head over to Sharaku in West Bloomfield instead.
