My wife and I came here to get ideas on pieces that we would like for our new home in Texas. Our Sales Rep said that Mathis delivers to Texas for a 10% of total purchase fee. We decided to move ahead with a bedroom set and dining chairs. We paid for our items but since the store was closing, the rep wasn't able to get our delivery fee on our paperwork because the manager for that side wasn't available. We've been calling them for 3 months to get this solved, and two different managers have reached out saying they'll get it straightened out. Have not heard back from anyone. I even tried to give them more business by asking about adding to our order and neither Jeff or Katheryn will call me back. I finally received a call that my items were ready and they want to charge me 30% for delivery. I told them that our rep gave us a 10% figure, but since that person no longer works there I was basically told there's nobody there to reprimand.. Never come to Mathis Brothers, they do not know what it means to service their customers. read more

After searching for a new couch, we ended up at Mathis Brothers. Very good selection and awesome pricing! Unfortunately the couch we chose was stuck in the ports and was delayed. We are patient so we waited for delivery which took place late November 2021. Within a week we noticed that one of the cushions had a seam that was separating. No worries we thought, it's brand new and we purchased the "Protectall" "full coverage" warranty. After a bunch of pictures and review, they have decided to NOT fix a brand new couch with a seam that is separating and say it is normal wear and tear. Customer service is terrible. Have been trying to get a repair done for over 4 months. Today is suppose to be the day of service. They didn't call with a time estimate, and when I call customer service they have no answers. So I don't even know if they will show up or not. Customer service kept saying she could reschedule me, to which I kept saying no. Then a female from customer service calls and says she rescheduled me to a date without even checking to see if I was available. I still said no I don't want to reschedule. The single part number for a Sealy king size box spring needs to have qty 2 which sale person didn't know and i should have been charges twice. . I was told they will make it right by shipping me the 2nd unit the day after. Later called and said the other piece went to someone else. So i am not the only one with half box spring. Wow! They have so many recliners! Sales associate Steven helped me out immediately and because of his knowledge of the construction and operation I quickly found the perfect recliners! This place is a One-Stop shop for all your furniture needs. What an incredible selection. From budget-friendly to high-end, they have it all. And in abundance. I have spent dozens of hours shopping here while I am decorating a new apartment. Now, I'm not a fan of salesmen, to put it lightly. But there are two here that really stand out: Homa and Marissa. Both are such friendly, helpful, and genuine humans, not just sales driven employees. Homa spent so much time showing me every bedframe that met my exacting requirements, and was so genuine and pleasant the whole time. She told me about all the custom options available, was upfront about pricing, and helped me find the perfect fabric. She was so patient, never showing frustration that I hadn't found the best bed frame in my budget yet. I highly recommend asking for her, as she will put in the time and be kind and friendly all throughout, even if you don't end up buying anything. I doubly recommend Marissa. She is such a breath of fresh air! I have spent dozens and dozens of hours shopping for a couch, going to all the different stores, and I have never encountered a sales associate who was so genuine. Marissa was legitimately fun to interact with, like an old college friend. All throughout the process, she is really willing to put in the effort to give you exactly what you're looking for, and spends a great deal of time with you checking stock, checking with her manager about delivery dates, and trying to find you the best deal in your budget. I had been dithering over buying a couch for over a month, and my experiences with sales associates had not been positive, to say the least. Every one felt like they were (and were in fact) trying to pressure me into a sale right away. Marissa was very different. She talked to me like a real person, with no wheedling or manipulation. You feel like she is someone who is just there to help out. She interacted with me like a friend, rather than a pushy salesperson who ultimately didn't give a care whether I found the right piece as long as I bought something. Today. And because of that, we actually ended up finding the couch I wanted. (Finally!) She made the purchase process straightforward, telling me about all of the fees upfront, and getting the entire process over with quickly and painlessly. She seemed really trustworthy. I would give no stars if I could. Bad customer service. I bought a sectional, a recliner and a custom ottoman from the Irvine location. Ottoman was ordered as a rectangle 45" in length. We received a diamond shaped looking thing. salesman and manager have been giving us the run around. first they said they would take care of it then they said the ottoman we ordered was not available. they had me pick a different one for which they are saying now that I have to pay the difference on!! WTF! They made the mistake and want me to pay for it! I get the run around from customer care too. this company has horrible client retention do not buy from them unless you are prepared to be frustrated and exasperate. Do not use the Irvine location!! Horrible experience, would never come back and advise buyers to beware of the insurance protection package they sell. First, the protection package was added to the purchase without letting you know, deceiving! Second, now that you have the protection package that you unknowingly purchased, it doesn't cover for anything. Reported a rib in the couch, claimed denied because it's outside of 30 days when the accident happened. Third, waited 3 hrs on a customer service call, kicked to a message center to leave a message, left a message, bent 4 days received no calls back. I had a really bad experience here they were supposed to deliver all of my items on Monday and I only received one Item I called the manger RJ he called me back and told me that the sales person Lexi had made a mistake on my delivery date and that I would have to wait till Friday for the other items and that there was nothing he could do to help get me my items sooner he didn't care that I didn't have a bed to sleep on . He was very attentive and helpful and when he doesn't know an answer to something he will go and ask and not pretend to know something he doesn't. I appreciated that. He responds to texts and questions. He was patient and not pushy. When we finally decided to purchase he was not there but in vacation. He referred us to Bahar to help us. She was so sweet and kind and patient as well. We had lots of questions and wanted to see if things match which means taking something from one area to another to confirm. We love this Mathis Home mostly for the way the staff treats and appreciates us, and the solid food options at the bar/cafe, especially for kids. My wife loves being able to design her own couch (with her favorite designer, Aaron), and we've picked up some nice vases and side tables along the way. Bought 2 recliners, Recliner Love seat August 8th paid cash from Irvine store and where told it's in stock and will be delivered in two weeks that was the first Saturday delivery available Got the 2 recliners and no love seat. Was told it will be delivered in 2 weeks. I had to call this week September 29th when we will receive our Love seat? Adrian our salesman said it's still not available and when I got upset he checked and miraculously they are in the warehouse. BUT could not deliver it till October 8th. When we pushed him to get an earlier date as we have waited sooooo long we where told that his manager could not accommodate us with an earlier delivery. They got our money but NO loveseats yet. I wanted to give the most recent update on 10/16/23. I'm happy to report that Mathis Bros worked with us to resolve our broken frame. They took part of the couch with them a few weeks ago and brought the repaired peace back today. Our couch looks great and they saved me tons of $ in not having to replace it. I wanted to update my review after Rick S responded. I did contact Mathis Brothers and they were most unhelpful. Not able to help fix my issue and it was a complete waste of time. We bought 4 high back bar stools in April 2022 from Roger Pham. He was very helpful and friendly until we purchased the 4 chairs. We had 4 chairs delivered to our house in May. We were told 3 chairs were available and the 4th chair they need to get from the warehouse. The chairs were comfy & matched great in our kitchen under the island. We noticed 1 chair had a white powdery substance on the ground near the front leg. This continued for 2 months before we realized it was coming from a small hole in the fabric, inside the chair. When we realized it was probably a termite, we called our salesperson, Roger Pham, immediately for help. He said bring the chair in and we will replace it, no problem!!!! Well 6 months later, I still do not have a new chair. I have talked to Roger & several people in customer service including the manager with no solution. This salesperson & Mathis Brother is full of EMPTY PROMISES & WILL NOT BACK UP THEIR PRODUCTS!!! They tried to tell me the termite came from my house. You all have been warned!!! Rick: Thank you for your response but the saga has another chapter. After my post and before your response I received a call from Lisa, Customer Service Manager Ontario and she first said that Mathis would only take back the dresser. When I informed her that they recently delivered the dresser and 2 chest drawers, she then said we would only be able to return the dresser and the 2 chests, the nightstand would not be accepted. Really, my mother would have to keep one non-matching piece? How does that make any sense? She then informed me that had 7 days to spend the credit. Why? Mathis already has the money, what is magical about 7 days? When I explained that the reason this has taken so long is that the first set had 8 of 16 drawers that were not properly working. Her response was; that happens a lot to the furniture as it transports in ocean containers and bounces around. Well if this happens "a lot", then why not inspect it before delivering it to the customer? Because my mom would be charged a $700 restocking/delivery fee and because the credit needed to be used in 7 days, we decided to go to the store and trade in one of the chest drawers for a rug the next day. We also decided to move the new furniture to a guest room and move her old furniture back. She is confused why we need to do this but, it's a lot of money for someone on a fixed income pension from my deceased father to lose. Mathis has turned an exciting event into a nightmare for her and I'm still not sure she fully understands why. Now she's stuck with her old furniture and new unwanted furniture that I will have to have Mathis come out to repair, again. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Went here for the second time after originally buying 2 couches back in January. That experience was good so I decided to come back and look at coffee tables to go with my new couches. When arriving we were met by some sales reps and unfortunately got Jon Berlin as our representative. As a salesman myself, you would think that the rep would have a good attitude and wanting to work for the sale. Not Jon. When trying to ask questions, he was very short and rude to me and the people I was with. For someone who has already spent 2000+ dollars at the store you would think the customer service would be outstanding. Very put off by my experience and took my business elsewhere. Although they have some very nice furniture, I can't recommend them with their terrible customer service. If you can afford to replace your couch once a year, then they should be fine. I purchased an expensive power reclining sofa in 10/2021 (made in the USA). On 12/7/2022, one motor stopped working. Mathis said that I needed to contact GBS, their warranty company. I've now contacted GBS, quite a few times. They initially sent a repair team who said the part would have to be ordered. NOBODY is getting back to me. Although I've called GBS quite a few times, they're now saying that they're not hearing back from Mathis! 3 months now without full use & very frustrated by being blown off. Edit 3/4/23 After emailing a copy of my review along with my pertinent information, I've just received an email from Jennifer Delgado in the Mathis customer disservice department telling me they can't help me. She's telling me to call GBS even though GBS keeps telling me that they can't help me until Mathis sends me the part. Looks like I'm stuck with a $5,000 reclining couch that won't recline. Mathis Brother fails again. Yes, their furniture is great. The service that comes along with it? Still looking for it. We bought outdoor furniture that has a price on it. When they ring it up, it says that it's their membership price. There is no where it says it's the membership price, the furniture in the store clearly says the difference in the membership price and regular price. All the furniture outdoor Diesnt have the tags. Not our problem, Mathis brothers should have updated it. Whatever the advertise price is shown, should be accommodated. Mathis brother thinks they did us a favor by giving us that price. We were supposed to get our furniture on Dec 11th but changed it to the 4th. Got a courtesy call that we were supposed to get a call 24h before delivery. Nothing. Called our salesperson, no response. Text, says she wasn't working, will follow up the next day. When I get a follow up, my salesperson just states the same courtesy notification that I'll get my furniture on the 11th. Excuse me? Are you not going to address that my furniture was supposed to come on the 4th? This shows that all they care is about the sale. Don't care what happens after that. They'll hound you when you first step on that floor trying to sell furniture but after that, there's no more service. read more

I am here posting a second time about an incredibly horrible experience with Mathis in Irvine. We have spent over $50,000 since June at this store including some custom furniture through their design center. After our first posting got their attention, they begged me to remove our horrible experience from Yelp by "loaning" us some floor model furniture until our order ( 2-3 weeks) was in, taking 4 months ( now told over 5 months). We were stuck as part of the set was already in our home. We agreed. We were told that our custom order (supposed to be 12-14 weeks) that was now over 4 months, came in - nobody called to tell us...it just sat their until I called once again to inquire on the status! Customer service here is horrible. They've stopped returning phone calls and overall communication is non-existent ( now even from the designer who told me once to just call Josh the store manager). The $3500.00 wall art took three deliveries until there was art that wasn't damaged. Like, do you inspect stuff before it leaves on the truck??? Our issues have made it to the general manager who tells you he's sorry and that this is all unacceptable, but then its back to square one with the next issue ( back ordered, delays, damage, horrible communication, etc). Before spending your hard earned money, consider what may happen to you after you start paying for it. This is all but a mere snapshot of the number of problems with this business. Its quite pathetic. Designer Sim, Design Manager Xavier and Store Manager Josh....you need to seriously up your game and give a da-- about people who spend a small fortune at your store. read more

My elderly mother bought some small tables. Mathis gave us a four hour window for delivery but didn't show. After several calls they showed up almost two hours late. The tables were damaged when delivered. Delivery people said "This happens all the time" and they took pictures. The delivery people said my mom would be contacted about a return or repair. Mathis didn't call so when I went in two weeks later I was told I could not return because it had been more than a week. Very frustrating. "Customer Service" seemed organized around NOT providing service and preventing reasonable returns. read more
