I usually wouldn't yelp a gas station, but this gets one because it has the slowest gas pump ever! I know some newer ones are faster than others, but this gets the comcast turtle family prize. Over 15 minutes to fill my small tank! Maybe they have molasses mixed in with their gas. Right by Flor's not so favorite Safeway so convenient if shopping but I won't be coming here again unless I'm rolling my car in cause it's out of gas. read more

My brakes were making a griinding noise and I found this place conveniently near my job. They were extremely professional, knowledgeable and quick. They didn't try up selling me on rotors. He saw I had a nail in one of my tires and was low on oil and patched the tire and added oil at no charge. My son had to be picked up from school and he loaned me his car to ensure my son wasn't stuck in the rain. He went above and beyond and I look forward to taking my car then whenever I need service again. Highly recommend them. I had my car cheked in here because of the engine light on. I thought there was sth wrong with my engine. But they have good and honest mechanic here who told me that I just need to change the oil and reset the light. They also have nice price of changing oil and free estimate if your have has any problem. I would recommend my friends who live in Sunny Vale to come here if they have any problem with their car or want to change something. I drove into this gas station at about 5pm on a weekday, bought gas with a credit card at the pump, with no receipt, as I do a couple of times a week at many other gas stations, then realized I needed to add air to one of my tires. I moved my car from the gas pump to the air/water pump, then went into the cash register to ask the woman to turn on the air. Unlike most gas stations who just say "OK, it's on, just push the button", she said "Did you buy gas?" I said, "Yeah, at the pump, and now I need to get air over there". She then asked me for proof, like a receipt. I told her I never get a receipt when buying using a credit card at a gas pump, but she refused to turn on the air. Of course at this point, she said I could have water for free, but I could put coins in the machine for air. I told her "You know it's illegal to charge for air in the state of California, right?", but her only answer is her manager does not allow her to turn on the air without PROOF OF PURCHASE of gasoline. I'm sure she thought I drove in from the heavy traffic looking for "free air", God forbid! Of course gas stations are not required by law to provide air if you did not buy gas, but I defy anyone to find another gas station that requires PROOF OF PURCHASE to get that free air. Which is why their competitor down the street simply turned on the air when I asked them. Bottom line, don't contribute to businesses like this one that are run by arrogant douchebags. They are not worth keeping around. read more

One of the worst Valero I've been to!! Since my car ran out of gas, I drove all the way down here to put some gas. The pump didn't say it's broken or anything, for the first time it changed me 16¢, second time still asked me to enter all the information even select the grade, in the last second on the screen thanked me for visiting this gas station. I assumed "okay, maybe my car had some problem, which I'm 100% sure there is no problem". I tried the third time with a DIFFERENT CARD. Yet again, same thing happened all over. The price was very good and the manager, Paul, seemed very honest. I now take my car here for everything from oil changes to dealing with strange sounds. Every single place quoted me nearly $100 more than Paul, trying to upsell me on my brakes, tires, etc. Paul was the first honest and reliable mechanic that I encountered. Yesterday my tire pressure light came on and the attendant let me use the air with no proof of purchase and offered me a tire gauge. I have come here to get my oil changed for awhile since they are fairly cheap, yet every time I come in, they always tell me that there is something wrong with my car. This last time I went in they said that my engine mount was broken and that it would cost $400 to repair it. I told them that I would think about it and come back. What I did instead was take it to my dad who has been a mechanic for over 45 years and he said that the engine mount was definitely not broken. If it was, I would feel the car *thud* every time I shifted. So that was the last time I went to this mechanic. They lost my trust at that point trying to sell me something that I'm sure they knew I did not need to fix. I would recommend going to Le's Auto Repair on Evelyn in Sunnyvale. Paul is great - always on schedule, very patient, and tells me exactly what should be fixed and what doesn't really need to be fixed. I drive an old honda ('91) that looks like and is indeed falling apart and a friend recommended me to go to Paul. He took a look at the car and told me a couple of things that need to be fixed (brake, muffler, tires, and some adjustments). I decided to just change the brakes and other adjustments but didn't put in additional money for the muffler or tires because the car is so old that I thought it may break down any minute. Basically I only fixed 50% of the problems just so to make the car driveable. So I drove it in ok condition - super loud with lots of fumes - for months (because I didn't listen to Paul about the muffler), until I'm convinced that the car can last much longer and I went to Paul again to fix the remaining 50%. After that, the ride is super smooth, clean, and quiet! read more

Reviewing a gas station is probably a fruitless endeavor but this really needs to be brought to attention. Came in, said hi to the attendant at about 7:30PM at night on a Tuesday, seemed friendly. I reach for the doorknob and he says "HEY!, GET OUT" and shoo's me towards the door with the meanest look on his face. I haven't been talked to like this in a long time. If it weren't for his advanced age, I would have engaged him in a sporting argument to see what his problem was, but I just walked out cordially while another customer who saw the whole deal walked in. I wasn't aware wearing glasses, an $80 button-up shirt, tailored jeans, and boots makes you look homeless or a vagrant. Sure there was a "customer only" bathroom sign but I was gonna buy a pack of smokes and a soda, plus he didn't even see where the car was parked. read more

I normally drive a gas, but dropped by to add some air to my electric car tires, went in for change so I could get the air machine going, the guy (mid to late 30's?) asked me if I was buying gas (I took it as : if I spent some money on gas there he'd throw in the air anyways), I mentioned I had an EV, he smiled and hooked me up with 2 bucks of free air. I used to all services with this guy. Year back he said I need to change the timing belt. since he saw some oil leaks. when i checked with other guy. he said i don't need and there were no oil leaks. So I did not do timing belt change. Last time when i did oil change he still reminded that I need to do timing belt change. I said I don't want it now and asked him to show me the leak. He said it is under the engine somewhere. This time after the oil change there was leak of oil. not in the timing belt. but in the area of engine oil filter. So I got scared and went to dealer. he saild it was loosely packed oil filter. May be by mistake this would have happen and got coincidence with recomanded service. I hope they havn't done wantedly. This is pure my experience with this guy. Anyhow I changed the timing belt with dealer since I asked dealer to change it . my car not even 75K. Had a TPMS light come on yesterday as I was driving past this place. Pulled up and asked the mechanic inside the shop to check air pressure in my tires. He handed me the shop's air hose with a nozzle and told me I can do it myself. I asked him again and he asked me "You don't know how to do it yourself?" I know how to do it but a customer pulls into a station and asks for their air pressure checked, you do NOT tell them or ask them to do it themselves! He clearly was not interested in helping me and was very rude and unprofessional about it. I ended up getting a new tire installed on my vehicle at another shop and they were very understanding and professional. This guy missed out on the tire job. Now I won't even get gas here. read more

Note: this review is for over the course of 2010. The first bad review in 2008, was probably a previous owner, because they have a "opening sign" up when I was there. I started coming here around Feb 2010. This place is the typical auto shop that operates from renting space by a gas station. Have to admit, I normally don't pay attention to gas station auto shops because I don't ever feel like they have creditability. But a friend actually recommended this place when they first opened & gave me their business card. The manager's name is Paul (fluent in English & Vietnamese). After taking my car there for the past 3-4 occasions, I'm confident to give positive reviews for this place. Paul is honest, transparent w/his invoice/paper work & have your best interest at heart. I had a major 100K tune-up (timing belt & everything) w/ him & he detailed everything he did. He buys original parts from Honda & past that cost & warranty onto you, and just charges you for the labor. So his quotes are reasonable. I hate it when auto shops try to make $$ off of you from the parts. He explained to me what type of synthetic oil he used for my oil change (unlike crappy oil @ Walmart) & even suggested that if I'm ever in doubt when to have change oil: "just stop by here & I check for you" - that made me feel appreciated. I later brought my Honda back for a sensor change & haven't had problems since. Now I recommend him to anyone who needs their car fixed. I even brought my Mom's car for battery update & he remembered my other car & asked, "how is our Honda" *smile*He explained why he picked a high quality battery just for my Mom's car, because I told him that her battery always dies because she drives it about once a week (not enough driving activity). So he knew what her car needed to fit her driving habits. He said, a average battery would be fine if you drive your car everyday, but since she only uses her car 2 times a week, then you need a better battery. He also checked my friend's new BMW before my friend bought it from 3rd party on Craigslist - to make sure everything was fine & was a solid purchase. I took my car there anyways since I had him to do oil change a few times before. I really like about this place because my car was ready within the expected time frame. When I picked up my car, without me asking, Paul showed me the packaging box of parts that he had replaced for me, and the old parts he took out from my car. He showed me all the fluid and taught me how to check them. I am very happy with the services. Paul has been fixing my car for the past 2 years. Gasbuddy.com again, ftw! While I wish gas prices in Mtn. View were cheaper, glad this Valero's not too far away from me. Yesterday late afternoon I filled up for barely a bit over $20 @ 2.13/gallon. The pump speed seemed fine, but I feel for the experience Yelper Eve K. went through, since I've been there, done that as well. I also noticed this station's right on the corner of a plaza with a Lucky supermarket, some chain pizza place, as well as corporate coffee (aka Starbucks). 8/11/2016 It's true, Paul is a life saver! We are from out of town visiting family and our car started overheating. We took the car to Mathilda Valero Auto Repair for a diagnosis and quote for repair. He is honest!! and a good mechanic! That speaks volumes about his character. He gave his professional opinion of possible problems and a fare quote on possible solutions. He started with the least expensive and worked his way through to resolving the problem. All said and done it turned out to be a fairly miner solution, even though he did a lot of time consuming trouble shooting. I will say that Paul is the best mechanic we have ever taken our car to. Paul, the service manager, has become greedy and un-trustworthy. He used to be honest when the business was still slow. He earned my and many others' trust then. But lately he has become VERY SHADY. He would ask you to leave your car for a few hours for something minor and he knows exactly what is wrong. But he would not tell you then. When he calls you to give you the estimate, he would overstate the problem and overcharge you for some simple repairs. I should have been less trusting of him so that I had said no to the recent repair, which he charged me almost $300.00. I later found out from a neighbor's relative, who happens to be a mechanic with 18 years of experience, that the work and part should have cost a total of less than $125.00. GO TO OTHER PLACES BEFORE YOU GET SUCKED IN AND RIPPED OFF. Paul will find a way of getting your money by not fixing everything at once, but rather over several times on related issues which he doesn't do a good job in the first place. Make sure you get a second opinion from a more trustworthy mechanic. read more
